up831 Garry: Does it seem to you that in recent years there have been more violent storms and tornados in recent years than in the past. It sure seems that way to me. I just don't remember all of this winter damage in the South when I was young.

I don't know. ... Maybe it depends on where you are. We have been in this location for about 20 years and the worst storms were about 10 years ago here. I've lived other places in my many years, and I recall storms happening throughout my life. ... It does seem like the news media in recent years tend to overstate the magnitude of storms. Maybe, that is how they try to get more readers or listeners.

Don't get me wrong I would have never wished to be a civil engineer in my life if I could have been. My Grandmother would have paid for it but I heard the stress was too high.

BATMANI keep going back to my Royal Hudson that I have made inoperable, it is a little frustrating as fixing it should not be rocket science yet I don't know where to start.
You mentioned, Brent, that somehow you have the quartering off? That means the wheel has twisted on the axle, yes?

At least you have a working model and an exploded diagram to work with. Can you describe (photos, too?) what is exactly hanging you up?

Maybe start another thread so the Diner patrons don't get too bored.
I was finally running my one Royal Hudson last night. All seems fine

York 1: Uuuhh, The End is on the first album. Oh well, Riders on the Storm, a great song, is on LA Woman. But then I imagine you knew that.
But for you....
Music is your special friend,
Dance on fire as it intends,
Music is your only friend,
Until the end, Until the end.....
Enjoy!

Brent, I would bet when you're too exhausted when you get home to just run your train and drink some wine (red) you put on some good music too...... before you play your guitars later..... and before you have a shot of Glenfiddich
If you don't mind me asking? ...... In the midst of all this, where do the Rum and Cokes come in
Cederstrand John, I do, but don't remember how to post pics on here.

My name is John too so l'll answer your question. You go to that little sun above the mountain picture and push it.
Then you go to your posting host site and come back and hold and post.
Hope that helped

Good afternoon from the cooling West Coast, it is 6c and should be -6c this time tomorrow. The weather guessers are saying we will have the coldest week in 30 years.
I am one of those guys that like to watch the trains run. When I get home too exhausted to do anything else, give me a glass of wine and turn on a train.
The Canucks are on in an hour, playing Minnesota today. Two games in two days really test a teams metal. They got creamed by the Panthers and Lightning in Florida but the flu was going through the team supposedly and by the reaction of management to the wipeouts this is probably the case. They dispatched Buffalo yesterday so we will see.
I keep going back to my Royal Hudson that I have made inoperable, it is a little frustrating as fixing it should not be rocket science yet I don't know where to start. I am not ready to wave the white flag and send it to Rapido yet. I have been scouring the internet/YouTube but can not even find a start to repairing my blunder.
We had a 5 night trip to Vegas given to us but it is hard to squeeze it into our schedule. Both the wife and I have been retired for years yet the calendar has a lot on it.
Well, I think I'll run my good Hudson for a bit before the game.
All the best to all.
Brent

York1 Track fiddler Kind of ironic you answered the music trivia twice in one paragraph without even knowing you did. Unless it's something by The Doors, I'm out of this game! I was a hippie, but did not learn (or pay attention to) very many lyrics.

MisterBeasleyNow, it's important. I have to know what the dinner specials and happy hours are every day.
You and I have some things in common!
A few years back I was taking a phone interview for a long-term medical policy. They asked me what day of the week it was. I had to laugh, tell them that I was retired and didn't really know or care.
Now, it's important. I have to know what the dinner specials and happy hours are every day.

Good morning, everyone. It's 17° and clear. It's a nice morning to walk the dog. We didn't get much snow.
Ed, thanks for the subway video. The subways look much nicer and cleaner than when I rode them in the 70s. New York has done a great job cleaning and running the system.
Time for church now, then a whole day with nothing scheduled -- my kind of day. Have a good Sunday, everyone.
Welcome to the New York City Subway:
Do you feel — Lucky?
I hope everyone is doing well this Sunday.
Today it was 70°F and as I write this it is 27°F maybe six hours later.
The real United Aircraft Turbotrains are now but a memory. Even the Rapido models are considered "Vintage":
Turbo_PC52-Amtrak50 by Edmund, on Flickr
I rode one of these from Pennsylvania Station, NYC, to New London, Connecticut back in 1971. Vintage? I remember we had the friendliest, funniest conductor I'd ever encountered on the Penn Central back then! I remember, too, when the Turbotrain toured the country and came to Cleveland. Back in the day, Oh my! These were going to be the future of passenger service.

Henry, In November of 1966 I was in first year at Uni and I heard Simon & Garfunkel do that song live in the gym. We all sat on the floor. They were truly amazing with Paul Simon providing the only accopianiment.

My wife use to do a lot of artificial insemination work out in the garage. From a very young age she would ask the kids to lend a hand, and if they had friends over the friends were horrified the first time they witnessed Veterinary medicine in action. The friends got used to the goings-on at our house quite quickly.
Howdy ..... This is the end of a long day.
It started with severe storms this morning. We lost power for 8 hours. Many buildings in our county were damaged... Here at our place, the only damage was winds tore a 6' long hole in a tarp covering the boat.
Funny how each of our three cats reacts differently if there is a storm. Tabi is scared and hides. Sassy ignores storms and does not react. Tori goes to a window where she will stay and watch the storm. They always do that.
Not much model railroading to report today.
Everyody: .... Have a good noght.
It's 10 p.m. and I'm hitting the rack.
