Good morning
This made me think Dave
I want to hang up my tool belt and become the Lunch Room Contractor
I hope the diners like chicken enchiladas and cheesy fettuccine alfredo with chicken and broccoli, the broccoli is still green and firm if you prepared it right
My two Specialties, We like our Chicken over here
And the thing about grilled cheese and tomato soup is the Sport of it..... You got to be a Dipper or why bother

Hi Guys!
I had some issue getting into this place the last couple of days. I gave up after a couple of fruitless attempts. Well, you didn´t miss much - I am not in a pleasant mood lately, for reason you know. The whloe affair has set me back more than I care to admit. I think I´d better go into hibernation and come back when Spring has sprung.
Happy times!

BigDaddyDo box springs wear out with the mattress?
Henry while we sales people will still use the term Box Spings more than likely you have a foundation. There are no springs in foundations, there only purpose is to but the mattress at a familiar height. Do they ware out? Well they normally break first. While it not a bad idea to replaces them it is not a necessity in most cases. But every thing wares out in time.
How long should a mattress last, well like I said you get what you pay for. A $600 to $900 Mattress 6 to 8 years. A heaver person or a youg couple will ware out the mattress quicker.
Later, Ken

Good morning. It's icy this morning. I don't think this thick layer of ice will melt for quite a few days. Everything outside looks like it was painted with gloss paint.
For Christmas, my wife gave me an N Scale movie theater, already assembled. It's not what I would have picked, but I won't say that. She tried very hard! I'm adding some more lights to it. It had some lights that had the Woodland Scenics connectors, so I have soldered new wires.
Lion, if you're doing OK healthwise, I'd love to see more NYC subway pictures. We are in NYC, but we haven't seen too much of the city this month.
Hope everyone has a good Saturday.

Good Morning All from the land of Buckeyes.
Old man winter decided to drop by and give up a gift of freezing rain, snow and then rain.. Enjoy my gift he says. Ha! Glad I don't need to drive.
I wrote a list of the things I would like on my next ISL and gave some basic thoughts to the bench work.. I used a 8' folding table one time on a 1 x12' ISL and that gave me room for my MRC Control Master 2 ,waybills and any fast RIP problems. There was two feet of the board over hanging each end of the table but, that didn't present a issue. While its not your conventional bench work it does work and gives you extra space.
Today I will watch live rail cams and think over my plans for the new Slate Creek--I might change the name since my Summerset Ry will be the main star..
Of course SCR, my CR,NS,CSX and Ohio Central will have cameos from time to time as well.
Mr.Dever's (the owner of SSRy,SCR and HR) SCL locomotives and his Santa Fe 2-8-0 will be used as he deems fit. These engines are stored in a warehouse he owns with inside loading tracks. The steam crew is hired from a nearby steam tourist road. He's been talking about doing a heritage locomotive probably a C&O RS1 since he already owns three RS1s. Summerset operates over a former CSX(C&O) three mile industrial brach that serves a industrial park. A (off layout) scrap yard and a lumber company is also served.

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
Thanks Garry but you have no idea what my Judy just did to me tonight
She put me on a conference call with three people I haven't seen for years and gave me pink lips and yellow teeth
After I realized I looked like the Joker I took advantage of it and I started posing and smiling and doing weird stuff
It was funny ......I think
Everyone was laughing so It must have been funny I guess
Garry.... I will have chili and grilled cheese with you anytime and actually that's one of my favorites besides grilled cheese and tomato soup
If you're brave enough you can join our group I would surely welcome you aboard
Other than that I may join your group
You've been here a while and I've always enjoyed what you had to say.... and that beautiful layout of yours!
Other than that I'm going to eat the grilled cheese and hit the rack
Good evening, everybody ....
TF .... The Mexican restaurant appears to have a nice atmosphere. I suspect the food is good too.
Our church had chile supper this evening. Very good chile. A side dish was made by my wife, and I call it Shelley's ultimate corn bread. There is no such thing as better corn bread. Other people veggies with dip, and there were several very good desserts. They made grilled cheese sandwiches too.
Cheers.

One on one with either of my kids is the best, you really get to know them when you can have that time together. We are best friends and there is nothing we don't talk about. It was a slow 40-minute drive back from the ferry tonight and the amount of conversation we fit into that time was quite something.
Even from a young age, I used to think about the relationship I wanted to have with my kids if I ever had them, I got that and more and it is a good feeling when you see them move into adulthood and realize you got it right and did a good job.

Lasagna the next day in the refrigerator or even the next after that.... it just gets better and better just like chicken enchiladas
It's darn cold up here in Minnesota and snowing like a funnel
I don't like hot either Kevin but the more I hear you talk about a tropical climate, the more I think of moving somewhere in-between
Track fiddler I just love Mexican and Italian food
.
I sure do too.
Fortunately, I live in an area where excellent Mexican Food is very easy to locate.
Good Italian food is more difficult to come up with.

Living the dream.
After A Hard Day's Work and a half a day to do on a Saturday
One has been known to cover up his Scenic part of view on his work truck so he can get a quick start in the morning
I ain't cleaning the windshield for tomorrow for a half day at work
I just love Mexican and Italian food better in the refrigerator the day later after you make it
El Loro, maybe not.
It reminds me of a Mexican Restaurant we went to near Ashville NC. There was only one other couple and they were next to us. A lawyer trying to impress a much younger secretary or girlfriend.
The Margaritas were terrible and the food was worse.

Oh My! Post are disappearing and reappearing.
cudaken6 If you toss and turn a lot or have to get up to use bathroom a lot more that likely you are on to firm of a mattress.
That sounds familiar. Sometimes I sleep 3/4 of the way on my stomach so my knees aren't hitting each other but mostly on my side. I have a bad shoulder and it hurts no matter what side I sleep on and I do end up lying on back at times.
7 Have your wife check your postuere alignment. If the spine is straight moe than likely you will love your new mattress. Make sure she checks your as well.
You left something out of that paragraph. My spine is straight but I dress left. That could be an American expression, but I'm not going to explain with Vinnie around.
Do box springs wear out with the mattress? Some beds come without box springs, so what do they do exactly?
Have you heard of Jameson, Imperial, or Casper (mail order bed)? We had a Jameson once, which is the one in Marriott hotels.
How long should a mattress last?
Thanks for the tips.
I freelance and I can't find any pics. They must have been on Photobucket, which no longer lets me long in for my freebie account. I'll take some pics tomorrow. Paint scheme is a variation of Milwaukee Road.
Looking for stuff, I found a bunch of pics I took of Conrail. I'll have to scan them and post a link in the Prototype thread.
Hey how are you Kids all doing?
After you go out on a cold and snowy night, you go to your favorite restaurant
El Loro
Yeah that's where you go
Just because it was fun the last time you were there and the time before that
York1No weather comments, Kevin!
You will get nothing but sympathy from me because I need to go to Atlanta next week, and it looks like I will simply be freezing to death in the arctic conditions that have been forecast.
I will be sharing your pain brother!
Good morning evening, everyone. I finally have gotten onto the forum after trying to login all day. I don't know why they didn't like my login all day, but they do now.
Got snow this morning, then freezing rain, then rain, and now more snow. The snowplow just shoved a bunch of snow in front of the driveway I had shoveled earlier. I should have fired up the snowblower, but decided to just scoop instead. No weather comments, Kevin! In all the years I was in New Orleans, I never guessed I would be chipping ice off everything.
Finished soldering some lights on the layout, but then found I had made a mistake and had to redo some things. Signs of old age.
No health food today. Eggs and sausages this morning, and tonight? Chili on hot dogs! That's after the beer(s) I'm working on.
Have a good evening.
Good day all, it is 0c and sunny.
Daughter just sent a message she is coming home for the weekend so I will go get her at the ferry a little later. Environment Canada has another big storm blowing in tonight so hopefully, she gets across before that hits. The weather just keeps getting wackier.
#1 son sent us a copy of a letter he just got from the Dean of the University he attends, it sure sings high praise for his academic efforts over the last three years. I think they talked him in to going back next year and continuing his studies there. He had his four-year program wrapped up in three years by taking a heavier course load and was preparing to move on to Law school. So not sure where the future will see him now. He asked if he stays in Ottawa, will we still fly him home four or five times a year. It's a cheap price to pay to get to see him. An expensive way to go to a Canucks game with your kid though.
The house will be full of people all this weekend, a lot of dog stuff going on and we are back to having the usual Saturday night gang back after the Christmas hubbub. Should be fun.
Larry, it is good to see you getting back to trains in a hands-on way. Keep us posted on your progress.
Well, I better go thaw out the truck, it may be the vehicle of choice to go get the daughter if she doesn't beat the weather in.
Have a great weekend all.

Flo, give the gang and I a please and Dirk a 1/2 of a rosted Chicken.
Henery, did you ask me about Mattress? Cople rules of thumb.
1 Side sleepers need a softer mattress.
2 Back sleepers can get by with a little firm matterss.
3 Stomach Sleepers need a frimer mattress.
4 Postion you fall a sleep in is your ture sleeping postion. If a person falls asleep on there side and wakes up on there stomach it is good sign they are on to firm of a mattress. I did that for 40 years till I learned about mattress (Mom told me I need a firm mattress) She was wrong!
5 Heavier people that are side sleepers need a softer mattress as a rule.
6 If you toss and turn a lot or have to get up to use bathroom a lot more that likely you are on to firm of a mattress.
7 Have your wife check your postuere alignment. If the spine is straight more than likely you will love your new mattress. Make sure she checks your as well.
8 You don't have to spend thousands and thousands to get a good mattress. But on the on the other hand you do get what you pay for!
9 Name brands I dont care for
A. Serta, especially ones from Sam's Club, Weekend Only and Big Lots.
B. Simmons, especially Beauty Sleep. There Beauty Rest is better but there spring design ware out quicker.
10 Best Mattress Company? Kingsdown Passion Series. They are pricey but best hands down in my opinon! My King set retail was $4980.00 (I won it I will add.) With my wifes back problems it was a blessing!

BigDaddyDo box springs wear out in the same time frame as out mattess (that now has a big depression in it) Any other mattress shopping tips would be appreciated.
When we bought our house, 20+ years ago, we purchased a high quality mattress and box spring for the master bedroom.
We have since replaced the mattress twice, but we still have the original box spring, and it seems as good as new.
So from my unscientific experience, I would say box springs last much longer than mattresses.
Larry Congrats, it took me a full day to figure out ISL
Ken The MR hocus pocus yesterday deleted my post after it was posted. I'm going to be in the market for a couple of matresses, one for a guest bedroom and one for me and the bride. I don't live close enough to meet the cast of characters in your store
I see now there are mattresses that come in a little box, mattresses without box springs, foam, springs and more. A good salesman can put lipstick on a pig.
Do box springs wear out in the same time frame as out mattess (that now has a big depression in it) Any other mattress shopping tips would be appreciated.
Put my Northern Potomac F3B dummy shell on a powered Stewart chassis and a very pretty Pennsy shell on the dummy. The subframe of the powered unit has a lot more meat. I discovered the shell is held on by extensions off the porthole glazing. As they kept falling out, I had taken them out.
Next I went looking for my Testors Clear Parts Cement, like Canopy glue, but faster drying in my experience. Nada, however I did find a MIA Loksound decoder.
I just ordered a replacement for it, because since I couldn't find it with my electrical stuff, I thought I used it. I called Tony's to cancel the order and got the answering machine. I also sent them an email as the order was shown as "processing" No one called me or emailed me, except the IRS who is going to arrest me if I don't call some place in the middle of the country.
My prescriptions arrived from my new pharmacy benefits manager. 15 days was less than I expected, but for some reason I have no refills on the lasix. That was the one that needed 'clarification' from my doctor. That should have been the no brainer. The other glitch is my doctor was out of town so one of her partners wrote these. When I need refills, the partner isn't going to do it, the message will get lost and my new doc won't know to do it either. It's no more efficient than a certain NY prison where someone may or may not have done something to himself.
Extra strong coffee in a AT&SF mug, please and thank you!
***Ulrich, so sorry to hear that.
***Larry, sounds like a good plan you have there. And steam layouts are always cool.
Neat pics and vids being shared in here. Keep them coming.
Healing thoughts for those in need.
Cheers! Rob
So far we skidded by and had a mild winter well, as they say all good things must come to a end.. Our forcast calls for 3-4" of snow followed by a glazing of ice followed by rain. On the good news side next Thursday should find me at home..
Speaking of which I have several unfinished modeling projects awaiting me on top of designing a ISL.. That sounds more up my alley.
I'm not sure if my daughter found the track I had stashed in my closet.. If not then now is the time to go with C70 like I wanted to years ago.
Why C70? It has always been my thoughts that a industrial lead should have older and lighter track then the main line.. It would be nice to have jointed rail in C70.
Have a good'un!
hon30critterShe is obviously your daughter! You have the same incredible dimples in your cheeks! I'm sure that your dentist must be proud of your jaw muscles!
It is amazing how different the three girls are.
My middle daughter looks exactly like me and the youngest looks exactly like my wife. Our oldest looks identical to my wife's older sister and nothing like either one of us.
They all were so different gorwing up, and their lives have gone in three completely different directions, but they all are so much fun and I love the fact they want to come see us, and don't feel obligated or pressured like they do with their in-laws.
They are everything to me.
SeeYou190My middle daughter flew in from Seattle so we could go see our favorite band, Motion City Soundtrack, at the House Of Blues in Orlando.
Kevin,
She is obviously your daughter! You have the same incredible dimples in your cheeks! I'm sure that your dentist must be proud of your jaw muscles!
I'm glad that you are able to have such good times with your kids! You and your wife obviously did something right!!
I'm in a similar position. Our son and his wife are doing just great, and we get along with them really well. We vacation together every summer and we have the best time of our lives!
CapnCrunch,
I sent you a PM.
moelarrycurly4 give me a large Dr Pepper and a waffle. time to do some tune up work on the ole Saturn. It runs better with the new EGR valve but I need to put a new Throttle position sensor on it.

time to do some tune up work on the ole Saturn. It runs better with the new EGR valve but I need to put a new Throttle position sensor on it.
No thanks. No waffles or Dr Pepper for me. Bad for my diabetes.
How is the suspension on that Saturn? Mine was totally shot to the point where the car was unsafe after not long at all. It was difficult to even control at high speeds.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
Good morning. My usual for breakfast.
It's cold, 0° F, with ice and snow coming tonight and all day tomorrow.
Kevin, I don't want to hear about the weather in southern Florida! By the way, you stayed out until 3:00 a.m. That's about the time I start to wake up. I haven't been out that late since I left New Orleans.
Larry, congratulations on your freedom! Hope your layout work makes the freedom even better.
Another day of retirement -- a doctor's appointment this morning, a nap after lunch, then some soldering on some layout lights, and finally relaxing with some beer by the fireplace this evening. Not sure what I did to deserve this punishment.
