Good morning. ..... Coffee and Christmas cookies please.

TF .... The Shay knife is a sharp souvenir. Smile ... To each his own, but we refer to the Waffle House as the Awful House.

Below are three Automobile I just acquired for my layout. They are Oxford model of a '61 Chevrolet Impala convertible, a '50 oldsmobile, and a '55 Buick. The convertible brings back memories because I had a '62 Impala convertible with the same colors when I was in my 20's. Then I was young and single, and the bench seat was very nice to have when dating a girl. Whistling

Good Afternoon!

A quiet day, for which I am thankful! Did get to running some trains, only to find out that a few of my locos need servicing, i.e. cleaning, lubricating and maybe new motor brushes. Not a big job, but I am out of motor brushes. That will have to wait until next year then.

Happy times!

Usually in Cape Coral all we get are ugly Cattle Egrets! These birds are actually on the official seal of the City of Cape Coral.

Egrets, I've had a few.

Good morning!

Hey, I noticed a problem on the Layouts and Layout Building forom.  A thread was posted with no title, which seems to make it inaccessible.

Can someone with privileges address this?  I hate to make a new user not feel welcome.  Thanks.

I wish they'd show that with all the other Westerns they've broght back on Showtime - you can watch Cheyenne, Mavrick, Lawman, Wanted: Dead or ALive, The Virginian, etc. But not this one.

(I assume you know that is a still from the series Casey Jones, starring, of course, Alan Hale Jr.)

Good morning from the West Coast. It is 2c and snowing.

First off, TF a belated "Happy Birthday", sounds like you enjoyed yourself over the last few days. I would like to get to Nashville at some point, I have a standing invitation from friends to stay with them. They are in the music biz and we would get the VIP tour for sure.

Dave, I have seen stories on the news about your wife's BIL, so sad. I am sorry your family has had to go through this.

I think I am finally Christmased out. This year everyone is so busy that it felt like the family get-togethers were something that was to be endured. The family ones were torture, however, the ones where we saw friends were a lot of fun. Even my kids think Hawaii next Christmas is the way to go. The amount of dysfunction on the wife's side makes one's eyes roll heavenward. As the nieces and nephews have grown into adults they have changed dramatically for the worst and I'll leave it at that. My friends are the same old people they always are thank goodness.

Going down to Seattle tomorrow for a Hockey exhibition. The kid has been involved with getting troubled youth into hockey and we also have worked with wounded warriors and disabled sports in sledge hockey. I am just a tag along on this trip to help out if needed. The kid has the charisma to be a good spokesperson and often ends up behind the microphone.

I watched a few episodes of Casy Jones on You-Tube not long ago. I can watch You-Tube on our big screen TV. I also enjoyed "The General".

Young Steven, stay on top of that gut issue. Years ago I developed a real gut ache and finally went to the Doc, he sent me for a scoping the next day and found a large ulcer. He asked if I had been traveling and I said I had just come back from South America via the Bahamas. He said BINGO! A lot of people that have been returning from the Bahamas have come down with ulcers. Apparently, there was a virus that was causing them. I was fixed up in no time flat and have never had another ulcer since.

Wife and Daughter have gone to Costco to get new I-Phone 8s (I think that's the right #) I won't tell you what I still use for my three phone calls a year.

Gotta run, all the best to all.

Afternoon folks,

Yeah my Doctor is inclined to think it's an ulcer, she called in a ulcer med and some strong antacid/anti nausea meds.

You are way too young for having ulcers, Steven! As a matter of fact, ulcers are not related to age, but older folks tend to get it more often.

The symptoms you describe sound like an acute helicobacter pylori infection. Talk to your doc about that!

Happy times!

And what is she doing to confirm whether it is or is not an ulcer? You don't just guess and leave it at that.  A perforated ulcer can do you in pretty quick. A scoping or X-Ray or whatever other tests they do these days is probably in order.

I'm going to the hospital for blood work right now, I can't see a Gastroenterologist until after my birthday because the pediatric ones won't take me and the adult ones won't see me till I'm 18.

Also its Friday and Monday and Tuesday are holidays so it makes it even more difficult.

I know how bad a ulcer can be if perforated.

My symptoms are extreme feeling of hunger and nausea, even if I eat.

Also my doctor isn't even in today, her office called her at home and then she called us and reached the conclusion that the most likely and dangerous cause was an ulcer.

Due to my medical history of stress and anxiety disorders I'm not surprised.

I'll keep you guys posted.

Howdy, howdy, howdy!

Steven, sending prayers your way!  Do hope whatever it is, is found soon and easily treated!

I spent yesterday with my Son and my two very sweet granddaughters on a trip to the "Museum of the Earth" near Ithaca, NY.  I gave the family a membership to the museum which also includes a membership to the Cayuga Nature Center nearby.  The museum takes you back in history several hundred million years and shows the history of life on earth from the very earliest to today.  I gave them a membership about 3 years ago and we tried to take some of the same photos yesterday that we took of the girls back then.  As soon as my son sends them to me I will share the earlier and the latest.......  One exhibit they get to chose a rock with a bunch of fossils in it.  The lady working the exhibit writes down the fossils in the rock on a slip of paper and packs it in a bag for them to have.  Most of the fossils (but not all) are of local orgin here in the Finger Lakes!

One thing I noticed was that 3 years ago I spent a lot of time trying to find a place I could sit down for a while....  Never sat down even once yesterday for the 2 hours we were there.....  Didn't even think about it until I got back in the car. Hmmmmmmm......

Tomorrow is the annual Non-Christmas Holiday ordeal at my sister's house.....  She will get to correct everything I think, say, do and believe for the 3 or 4 hours I will have to be nice to her.... ("Return no one evil for evil")  Can't wait for it to be over!  Then I can turn my sights to the New Years Eve party at my son's house.  That is always fun!

Oh, Son #2 sent me an Adirondack Mountains - Lake Placid, New York Central Lines Poster, painted by Walter S. Greene for Christmas.  I am not sure whether this is one of the original ones or a reproduction but sure is "cool"!  It is painted on canvas.........

Hope you all have a safe and wonderful rest of the season!

Just go the ER, same happened to my wife, Christmas Eve, 2004, went to the ER with severe pain, couldn't keep nothing down, 3 days later I brought her home after emergency surgery for a perferated ulcer.  Nothing to mess with.

Best take mom or dad with you to sign you in.

You guys are going to send Stephen into a panic.

Ulcers are common as dirt.  Perforated ones happen one in 10 or 20,000.  The only magic a gastroenterologist can do is look at it and biopsy it.  That's important if Stephen is an old guy, especially a old Japanese guy, but he's not.

The drugs aren't rocket science either.

On that note, my SIL has a new breast mass.  She already had breast cancer in the other breast.  She gets her biopsy next week.

It wasn't just because the poster left off a title; it was a glitch that ate a complete post. And it wasn't a new poster, either, it was a longtime Forum member. I'm afraid there's nothing I can do about it. Have to wait until the I.T. staff gets back from vacation.

Howdy ..

Ulrich ... LOL ... That is funny!

Everybody ... I’ll ask again where do we want to locate in January ?

Ulrich ... Perhaps you would like to get the Diners to agree on where we are going for January . Also who will start the new thread and when.  It’s best we agree ahead of time to avoid a misunderstanding. I will not have time this weekend to do that.

As I said , we are going to Cincinnati. We leave early tomorrow morning. this might be my last post for a few days .

Henry .. prayers for your sister In law

Steven NWPSWP ... Prayers for you also. I suspect you are not currently using Louisiana hot sauce on your food.

Dave ... Prayers continue for your family .

Everybody ... Happy Model Railroading .

I have a referral for a Gastroenterologist but since it's the holidays it won't be till mid next week I even get a diagnosis. Well wish me luck!

I do wish you luck Steven!

When I was your age I couldn't tolerate breakfast. To be blunt, it gave me the runs within a few minutes. It wasn't pleasant, but the worst part of the whole thing were the people who just couldn't bother to accept my politely declining to eat in the morning. I got lectures from a few people telling me how unhealthy going without breakfast was. They made me want to prove my situation by crapping right in front of them!

I really hope that your situation isn't a sign of something serious. If you get dismissed, go to another doctor.

Well, Steven, you're close...  Got all the right letters but in the wrong order....  LOL it's H. Pylori.  Nasty stuff but treatable when gotten early.  Hope you get feeling better ASAP!  You're in my prayers!

I have the Winter Squash all set to put in the oven tomorrow morning when I get up.  I'll then make some of my famous family recipe (right out of Betty Crocker's Cookbook) bread stuffing to take as well.  Dinner will be at about 2PM my sister says so I have to show up to "help" around 1:30 or so.  Then her gifts will be spread around to the family and she will probably make a "yuck" face when she sees what I have for her....  She will ultimately say she likes it while rolling her eyes and go on to the next one.....  Hopefully, I will not talk to anyone while I'm there so she will not be too upset with everything I say. (it's too late too agree with her as she changed her mind Whistling)......  Wish me luck!

Hey y'all, we ain't in the south no moreLaugh Do you think that accent stuck on me a little bit. We did make it to Nashville for the better part of the afternoon today.

I wasn't about to drop another two sheets on the Grand Old Opry though. We went to the Johnny Cash Museum instead, you know how I love Johnny, that was down-to-earth reasonable.... two bills buys a lot of choo-choo stuff and that's thatWink

I got to tell you I liked Memphis better than Nashville. By way of comparison, Memphis was layed back and easy going...... Nashville is about 12 times the croud and excitement, wild and crazy. Don't get me wrong, I'm a bit crazy but some times less is more.

Sorry Imgur's out here, it says site cannot be reached. Maybe I can connect to the hotels free Wi-Fi and send you some pictures a little later.

PS  Steven I've been in and out of the stomach thing before. Don't fret, they will get it figured out.

One time it was as simple as some antibiotics depleted the good bacteria in my intestines.  Eating a lot of yogurt for a few days fixed it.

Feel better and I'll give the man upstairs a shout at rest time.      TF

I rarely eat breakast even today despite the fact that it no longer bothers me. I usually only eat supper and a late night snack. I find that even though I don't eat in the morning I'm rarely hungry when it gets to dinner time. In fact, Dianne and I often don't have supper until 8:00 pm or later. However, if I do eat breakfast then I'm starving by supper time. Go figure!

The most important issue AFAIC is the day's calorie intake. My one meal a day and late night snack usually amount to less than 2000 calories. Now if I could only quit the diet pop (soda for you southerners)!Bang Head
