Thank you everyone for your support. It means a great deal to our family. I will let his widow and his two daughters know about your kind thoughts.

 Afternoon Diners!

Flo, the gang and I will have a Beer please.

TF Belated Happy B-Day While you where in Brason did you happen to see the RMS Titanic Museum? One of the reason I would not mind going there.

Ed and Randy I did enjoy both stories! Some times I wish I was born around 1920.

VA Health Front. Had a VA visit today to have my feet looked at. They passed with flying colors! Big Smile Still good blood flow and no ulcers.

Little Good News From Work! They canned Keith who was a Big Rail Spike With Ears! As much as we would like to see Jerry the Dunce gone he trys and cares. Just can't cut the mustard. Keith on the other hand did not give a Ash Pitt! Yesterday we worked with each there and he decided he was going to leave at 7:00 PM but he was to work till 8:00 PM same as I. When I said you should call and see it is OK he stated. "I am a grown man and I don't need to ask when I can go!" in a very threateing tone.

Hum, he is 6'4" weights about 325 pounds and use to intermateing people? Did not work with me, I told him "You could give Rail Spikes Lesons!. He then offred to kick my caboose, I was not worried. He is a blow hard and would not back up his bluff.

He was canned for having bad sales and leaving with out asking.

Train Front Letting the B&O Presdent Adams streach it legs. Doing some higher speed runs guessing around 40 MPH  at 65% throttle. All so running the Mighty B&O F7's dragging a 35 car freight train. I love ABA F7's.

Ed Did the grand kids enjoy the bank?

Sunday, Ken... Sunday.

$$$ Bank? I'm the BANK! $$$

Glad you are having fun with your railroad, Ken!

I have begun my New Year's Resolution, Dave. That is Spend More Time On Trains!  Wink  I like to set goals that are attainable.

Dave, when the time is appropriate, and if it is OK with family, would it be possible to post a link to an obituary for Dianne's brother? I would like to know if there is a charity or fund that I could contribute to. Only if you and the family are OK with it.

I hope everyone is OK and doing well.

I bought this 8x10 glossy on Ebay. Sure would like to know who that fellow is. This photo was taken in the Cleveland Terminal coach yard just behind the Terminal Tower. No date but I can say it is between 1947 and '52. I sure hope a time machine is invented soon.

Cheers, Ed

Thank you Ken....That was such a big part of the plan. Unfortunately you make your plans and there never seems to be enough time to do everything you want to do.

Branson was pretty much closed Christmas, we decided it wasn't worth waiting till the 26th to go see the Titanic and off to Memphis we went. We did feel the disappointmentSad

For some reason I always seem to find the cabooses in every town I go to. So here's a few Branson caboose shots for you.

I LOVE that outside braced steel Frisco Caboose.

.

I saw a Blue Jay today in my Crape Myrtle tree! I am sure that for most of you a Blue Jay is nothing exciting, but here in Florida seeing one is quite unusual.

.

It stayed there until I got my camera and 300mm lens!

.

Usually in Cape Coral all we get are ugly Cattle Egrets! These birds are actually on the official seal of the City of Cape Coral.

Update Kids..... we are now in Jackson. Under advisement from Garry, thank you Garry. We went to Graceland this morning. We saw the King's house today and it was so worth it.

I was amazed. For a man as famous as Elvis that could have anything he wanted. Apparently his home life was a simple life. His house was kind of cozy. Apparently that man liked things a little down to earth. He wasn't that fancy when it came to his home life. He took care of his Dad and Mom that took care of his home and things when he was away. He was a great, generous down-to-earth Southern guy is what I gathered.

When I heard his voice on the recording, he sounded tired and sad, he just wanted to be home. The Producers pushed that man hard. Rich people like that, had more stress than us commoners ever did.

After that we drove an hour and a half away to Jackson to see the Casey Jones Home Museum suggested by MLC. If Johnny Cash was going to Jackson, I'm going there too. This was more my thing but Judy also lets me drive around taking pictures of cabooses so this was fine with her.

Now we met this cool truck driver at our hotel. He said, kid's you're down here, do your self a favor and go to Nashville, have fun for the rest of your time off, turn in your rental car in and fly home, it'll be worth it.

Cogs are turning, we're thinking, We're having a lot of fun here.

I have boatloads of pictures if anyone wants to see them. I just do not want to post pictures in case some of you Forum guys are thinking of coming down here sometime to see this stuff

Good picture Kevin.

We have Blue Jays quite often but fortunately they don't stick around. I say 'fortunately' because they are so loud, and they have a nasty habit of eating other species baby birds! I don't mind the sounds of birds singing in the morning but if it's a Blue Jay I have to shut the window.Grumpy

During the fall migration they gather by the thousands on the north shore of Lake Erie waiting for favourable winds to cross the lake. It is quite something to see the waves of blue and white flowing back and forth through the trees above the cliffs at Port Dover.

I'm multitasking tonight. Judy is giving me one of those looks because I'm posting on the forums while I'm on vacation with her.

Kevin Blue Jays are a really cool bird, we have a lot of those up here, they are mean egg suckers though.

My favorite bird is a kingfisher, their wings click when they fly to another tree down the river.

I had a parrot once, they demand a lot of attention. I had to find another home for him because I could not provide that attention and it was only fair to the bird.

Track Fiddler,

I hope the brakes are set real good on that caboose way up in the air!

There is a farm north of Whitby, Ontario which has a large collection of antique tractors. They are all mounted about eight feet in the air on single posts. ?!? Haven't a clue why. I guess the guy was already a bit unusual. He farmed Emus!

TF, I don't know if you plan to come as far south as Baton Rouge but if so perhaps you could stop by the Midsouth Model Railroad Club, that invitation is extended to all of you guys if you're ever in BR let me know and I'll set it up.

Dave..... you have no idea. I wish I would have taken another picture of that Caboose from the side. The steel beams on the outer sides of the trucks were sagging and the supports for the whole thing just did not look right. I was telling Judy as I have a good feel for structure. There is something wrong with the support of this thing. I can't believe the city let them do this.

I didn't see any copy right stuff, as Vinnie has been watching, so I'll just post the link.

Mike.

EDIT: never mind, the link didn't work.  It's a pickup truck stuck between 2 limbs of a tree, about 20' or so above the ground.

The picture you can see is Larry, the cable guy, standing in the box, with the owner in the cab.

It's kind of funny I just rattled off a big long sentence that was spoken in metaphors to my Judy.

After my sentence I said "do you get me sweetheart"  She got a great big smile on her face and said yes. That's because she knows me so well.

You got to love that woman. We're hungry, we're going to Cab it and kick a little more life out of the day-night..... whatever it all works.

Good evening ...

Dave... Prayers will continue for your family.

TF ... Jackson TN is only about two hours from here.  We would love to invite you here to visit .  You could have a layout tour and our wives could chat. However , we are going to be in Cincinnati over the weekend .  We should be back by the first of January. So if you are traveling back from Nashville or eastern TN after the first,  let me know.  If you go all the way to Chattanooga, there is a nice hotel in an old railroad passenger terminal. You can sleep in an old sleeping car .  The hotel is called Chattanooga Choo Choo if I recall correctly. .. Nashville has the Tennessee Central RR museum.  Not sure when they are open.

Everybody .... who has ideas on where to locate the Diner in January ?

As I said to TF, we are headed to Cincinnati. It will be our northern Christmas celebration with family members who are  in Ohio and Michigan .

Happy Model railroading .

What a sacrilege! Sticking that beautiful old Chevy truck up in a tree!Crying

We used to have an auto body shop in town that had the front half of a pickup truck sticking out of the barn style roof. I thought that was a waste of good sheet metal too.

There is this in Toronto:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/swisscan/440349621/?ytcheck=1&new_session=1

Somehow the Chevy in a tree looks a lot classier.

Judy called the front desk and got us a cab. We're going to Jackson Buffalo Wild Wings right across the highway.

I can't believe for the life of me how she got us a cab just like the one at home.

These Southern folks are great they have the same Cab Company. I feel right at home here, I might just move hereLaugh

Speaking of trucks on trees, how bout a plane on a pole.

The world's largest weather vane is actually a DC3 mounted on a pole in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada. When the wind changes direction the DC3 pivots on the pole.

Cincinnati sounds cool. Garry has my vote. Remember that old show WKRP in Cincinnati with Johnny Rock?

Probably now it's BNSF in Cincinnati. I was so surprised to see all the BNSF railroad traffic down here. BNSF is everywhere now aren't they?

I even seen one of those cool Harbor blue BNSF locomotives in Arkansas, could have been Tennessee though, I didn't know where I was the half of the time after that Ozark Mountain Daredevil experience Christmas DayLaugh

Good night/morning everybody.

I'm posting late to to being woken from a sound sleep stomach hurting, my mouth full of saliva, and the feeling I'm about to hurl it all, I've been here before, just not in the middle of the night.

I got up and stayed near/in the bathroom in case the cork popped and I lost it.

It passed I had a little snack and I've got some Tums here I'm going to take in a minute.

My doctor put me on 150 zantac to combat my acid/nausea problems but it's not really working, I night I wake up at least twice with the horrible feeling of hunger and pain in my stomach, I'll eat some toast and it goes away for a bit. It happens during the day too but I'm conscious so I can head it off.

The other problem is every time I eat 1 I'm nauseous and 2 I cant eat very much before being nauseous.

And that's just the top end the rest is just as bad but more tolerable because well at least it's a "natural" movement, lunch making an exit out the top/front isn't.

I have a referral for a Gastroenterologist but since it's the holidays it won't be till mid next week I even get a diagnosis.

Well wish me luck!

Steve

I found my favorite traveling souvenir ever at the Casey Jones Museum gift shop. It's a Shay pocket knife, isn't it neat? The thing's heavy and if it ever starts to rust it'll look even better.

You see these waffle houses all over down here, there seems to be two, to every mile. We're thinking we're just going to walk right by the continental breakfast in our hotel this morning and go check out the Waffle House.

PS.  I bet that takes some pretty heavy Excavating equipment to bury those Airstreams in the ground Kevin. I just wonder how they set them in the hole without mangling them.

PS again.... nothing worse than a messed up stomach. I hope you feel better soon Steven.
