SWP.... how are you doingLaugh... just kiddingLaugh

I stated on another thread how you young kids know how everything works when it comes to a computer or a phone.... I can appreciate that.

I post to the Forum here from a smartphone. If you could explain to me how you post a video on the Forum here it would be appreciated. I have tried transferring videos from the internet to Imgur and it doesn't work.

Please keep in mind when telling me how to do this, you may have to put things in layman terms. I'm an old-school boy, not very fluent when it comes to today's computer stuffTongue Tied   Thank You

Are these personal videos?

I'm guessing yes so I'm going to give it a try myself and then tell you how I did it.

So like off YouTube?

If so it's pretty easy, if you have a smartphone it's a good idea to go ahead and download the YouTube app.

Step 1, go to the internet on your phone and search "YouTube app"

Step 2, one of the top results should be for the Google Play Store click the top result and it should open the Google Play app

Step 3, click the "Install" button and the download/install process will begin

Step 4, go into the app once downloaded and click the magnifying glass to search for a video

Step 5, let's say you search for "SD80MAC Conrail" and you want the top video so click on the video and it should start to load/play

Step 6, below the video should be an arrow with "share" under it click it and select "copy link"

Step 7, go to the forum and start a reply, click the little video embed button (see photos below)

Step 8, click the "Source" box in the video upload popup and paste the link by long pressing the box, then hit enter and the video should be added to the post.

Like so.

Heres the forum post control button to upload a video.

I had a double great day. I started in Valdosta, Georgia, and drove to Orlando to have lunch with my youngest daughter... awesome as always.

.

Then we drove to Tampa where I saw the Dollyrots live at the Brass Mug. I have never been to the Brass Mug before, and it is quite a dive. Literally falling apart around us. It was raining outside, and sprinkling inside. The roof is quite porous.

.

The Dollyrots are by far my favorite Pop/Punk band. I have known Kelly and Luis, the lead singer and guitarist, for about ten years. I first became aware of them when they were in high school and would open for touring bands in the area.

.

Kelly is just so amazingly cute and energetic on stage, and she can shred a bass like C.J. Ramone when she gets going.

.

The only downside was nobody wanted to mosh tonight. This happens sometimes when the young thrashers get a look at my 6' 7" frame, and then decide they don't want to play.

.

Kelly recognized me and gave me a big huge hug after the show. I have been at her shows every chance I get. It was a great time.

.

.

.

This is one of my favortire songs of theirs.

Tomorrow is December 15. Jeffrey Wimberly (Running Bear) passed away on December 15 three years ago. Many of us fondly recall his friendship.

Add a year, Garry. Jeff passed away on December 15th, 2014. Here is a link to his obituary:

Ulrich ... thank you for correcting the date for when Jeff passed away.  It is hard to believe it has been 4 years .  It seems like it just happened. I miss his creativity and humor.

Ken. ... Sorry your step father passed away on December 15 last year.

Hi again folks,

Thanks TF, your welcome, hope my little tutorial helps!

Well I wanted to go to pull-a-part tomorrow had I gotten my truck out of the shop.

I'm hunting a side outlet tailpipe for my truck, I'm getting a new "muffler" (cherrybomb m80 and extreme 1-2) put on in a few weeks and I want dual pipes out the side.

Should give my truck more rumble than it has now for sure!

Its official! For my 18th birthday (in January) we're going to New York! We're staying with my sister and her fiance, on the way up were going to Altoona and Gallitzin to see the tunnels and the Horseshoe Curve.

We'll be going to Grand Central Station, the Empire building, the Chrysler Building, MSG, Ground Zero, the Statue of Liberty, Little Italy, the High Line park, and Central Park.

Also on the itinerary is a trip to Oyster Bay, Long Island and to 20th Century Cycles, also known as Billy Joel's Motorcycle Shop/Gallery.

And of course real authentic NYC pizza will be on the menu for every meal, just kiddingLaugh

Good morning .....

Remembering Jeffrey Running Bear (Dr. Frankendiesel) today. Four years since he passed away. ... His friendship, sense of humor, creativity, and resourcefulness are fondly recalled. I remember he had his own paint scheme for his kit-bashed locomotive creations. He had a lot of fun with his model railroad. He was proud of his Native American heritage and sometimes shared some of it with us. I miss that guy.

Afternoon folks!

I've been busy trying to get all my Christmas Shoping and wraping done today.  In the midst of that I managed to break an old pole lamp in my bedroom...  So I decided I best find a new one.  The only place here in Geneva (that I shop at) that carried what I need was a big hardware, lumber, housewares, lawn care, etc. tec. etc hugeco store over near Waterloo (nope, not Malwart...  I DON'T shop in THAT place!)  This one is like Home Cheapo but starts with an L.  Found what I was looking for in less than a mile of walking (could have used more steps on the Fitbit) and headed for the checkout.

There the clerk asked for my Mylow card, and I nicely replied, "I don't have one,"  She of course told me it would only take a few minutes to set me up with one and it would save me gazillions of $$$ on a whole lot of items that I don't want nor need!  I guess she hooked me because my reply about $@#$^ stores wasn't very nice.  I added that my personal ID is not any of their $#@$# business and I don't need 45 #$@* emails to delete every day nor another bunch of phone #s to block........  Oddly enough, she agreed with me and told me she hates business practices herself!  Frankly about 23 of the 25 phone calls I get every day ring once and the ID says "Blocked #" on my machine (that's from the landline phone company...  nice service, they block known spam sites).  Another 134 phone #s are blocked by my in line ID machine next to the phone.  Only three people actually have my cell phone #.  When a company asks for it I say, How the h#ll would I know?  I never call the D@mn thing.

OK, rant over........................

Garry,  you bring up another great reason to not use (anti) social media!  There is almost never something called facts to be found there..... LOL  I don't use "SpaceCrook" and since I not a "twit" I don't "tweet"..... Whistling

Dave, do know you and your whole family are in my thoughts and prayers for a good reslolution on this horrid matter!

Well....  back to getting stuff done around here for a while.

Gidday Chloe, as it’s currently 74 F outside, and as I’ve also caught up on the most of my paperwork,( the important stuff anyway), I’d like a large glass of icy lemonade please, though the others in the Diner may require something different, depending on their latitude. Following Kevins Chicago sojourn made me appreciate the temperature differences between the north and south even more, though swanning around in the photos in a shirt whilst claiming it was cold, wasn’t that convincing!Wink

Trackfiddler, as a younger Bear, my mode of transport, by choice, was by motorcycle, so my personal belongings were what I could carry.  Reasonable quality drawing pencils did not take up much room, a sheet of good quality paper was cheap, so drawing was one of my hobbies back then, in fact it carried on after I got married and was saving for, then got a mortgage. Most of my drawings I gave away, but have kept the last two locomotive ones, and two aeroplane ones. As my circumstances changed, Model railroading took over from drawing but I do find myself “time poor” so that has taken the back burner as well.

Before joining the Forum, I had lurked for quite some time, and had decided the Ja sketch would be my avatar, and as you correctly surmised as “Bear” was taken, so just tacked the Ja on the front.

The Maori have a word “taonga” which loosely translated means “an object or natural resource which is highly prized”. Now I regard the Broadway Lion as a kind of “taonga” for what he brings to the Forum, not only in his eccentricity but his amazing modelling, especially as it is done on minimal financial input. However, the Bear, carnivore that he is, does take exception to the Lions casual like for wildebeest steaks, hamburgers etc. So, generally the Bears friendly wildebeests only come out as a counterpoint to some of Br Lions hungrier posts.Smile, Wink & Grin

Good grief Ray, the lady was only offering you an easy way to share in theLargess and Bounty that the Big Corporates, in their Generosity wish to bestow upon you, their loyal customer! Actually I ‘ve been known to mention, and or write on occasion, in answer to their surveys, that I would appreciate that the money sent on administrating and advertising “Customer Loyalty Programmes” would benefit me more by simply lowering the actual price of the Goods or Services.

Dave, my thoughts are with you and yours.

I rather suspect, Batman, that your young fellows’ exceptional marks are not only gained with brains, but also hard work! (I’m glad to see that a career in politics is no longer on his horizon, far too much intelligence, common sense, and integrity on his behalf for that nonsense.) My daughter has been accepted for the Masters Programme next year, and is looking forward to it.

Thoughts and Best Wishes to All that need them.
Cheers, the Bear.Smile

Fa 250 by Bear, on Flickr
“Fa”250 is the only survivor of a class of 20 in service for the New Zealand Government Railway.                                                                                                               Originally built by Dubs and Company of Glasgow in 1880 as a “F” class 0-6-0 ST saddle tank locomotive, it began service in 1881 used by the NZGR, numbered “F” 62, and was based in Auckland. With a new numbering system introduced in 1890 it became “F” 250.                                                                                                                                 In 1892 it was rebuilt into a 0-6-0 T “Fa” class locomotive receiving a new boiler and side tanks at the Addington Railway Workshops. It was then transferred to the then isolated Westport section in 1897 and hauled coal from Seddonville to Westport.                              In 1900 it was lengthened, by the Westport Workshops, going from an 0-6-0 wheel configuration to become a “Fb” 0-6-2. When the last of the “Fa” 0-6-0 T were converted to “Fb” 0-6-2 T locomotives in 1905, the “Fb” classification was dropped and it reverted back to “Fa”250. “Fa” 250 received a new boiler from Addington in1924 and worked the Westport section until it was struck off the NZGR’s charge in 1943.                                                    It was then purchased by the Whakatane Board Mills for use on their Matahina Tramway. With the arrival of 2 new Drewry diesels in1948 and 1951 “Fa”250 was relegated to the Board Mill yard and used as the spare engine when the diesels required maintenance. When Its sister locomotive “Fa”41, also owned and operated by the Whakatane Board Mill, suffered a major failure in 1957, “Fa”250 was pressed back into full time service until final retirement in 1966, (when the Matahina Tramway was closed), and donated to the Waikato Branch of the New Zealand Railway and Locomotive Society.                                                                           It was on static display at Te Awamutu until 1996 when it was transported to Waihi and then New Plymouth for restoration. The locomotive is currently stored at the Glenbrook Vintage Railway in a partially restored but dismantled state, the completion date uncertain under the present economic climate.
Smile

Bear... I've always liked a good logging train. I looked at your sketch a long time. I appreciate Talent when I see it.

I have always considered myself a good artist, I do believe I may have met my match.... I did pick up on the tarp over The Tender Box. Must have been raining the day your graphite scratched the paper, maybe lead?

I used to draw and do a lot of art when I was young, only sporadically through the years after.

I started a sketch of a steam locomotive approaching over a Trestle when I was in the hospital about 15 years ago. I asked my Judy where that sketch was. She told me it is down in storage. She knows where everything is. You gave me inspiration to finish up that sketch after 15 years gone by.

Appreciated Bear..... I like your work!

Evening folks,

Went to the Slaughter Christmas Parade, it was nice, my cousins liked it, saw some girls from our old church, they were really happy to see us, specifically my little brother, they're about his age, he's shy though so he didn't talk much, I saw Mallory, didn't talk to her.

As soon as my truck is out of the shop I'm going to be moving my Mustang out of storage and into the workshop.

I'm thinking of doing this with it.

Looks like a fastback/sportsroof, right?

Wrong it's a 1969 Shelby De Mexico GT350 Coupe, they added fiberglass pillar extensions to give a fastback look.

I think it'd make mine a unique piece of equipment.

BACK AT HOME!

.

I am finally back at home in Southwest Florida where I belong.

.

Went to the grocery store, everyone was in shorts and a t-shirt, or maybe something a little less. It is great to live somewhere that it is acceptable and appropriate to go grocery shopping in a swimsuit and flip flops in December.

.

How do you people that live up north deal with it? Everyone walking around bundled up like Eskimos for months at a time. Crazy.

.

It was 78 degrees today... I will post more tomorrow.

Sunday 16th of Demeber - the 3rd Sunday of Advent, so let´s light the third candle on our advent wreath!

Good Morning!

Flo, it´s time for my Sunday breakfast! Make that my usual fare, but serve the coffee in an IV bag, please!

We expect the first snow for the season today, but it´s going to be all show, but no stay. If our weather guessers turn out to be correct, we will have a Bing Crosby Christmas - only dreaming of the bygone white holidays!

Let´s not talk about toy trains today! There are many more lines in UK, but none as close to a realy railroad operation as the RHDR, the RER or the Bure Valley railways are. I gather not many folks are really interested in these miniature reailroads, as I did not get any comment. So that´s that!

Bear - this is fantastic artwork you are showing. I sure would like to see more!

Kevin - I am the northernmost chap in here, but we don´t have it as cold and freezing as the "Norreasterners" in this forum. Winter is usually quite mild but wet, thanks to the predominantly southwesterly winds. What does get me is the shortness of the days up north. We can turn off the lights not much more before 9am and have to turn them on at 3pm latest. I must have a lot of bear blood in my veins, as I have this urge to hibernate!

Happy times!

Good Sunday Morning, everyone —

Thanks for sharing those beautiful sketches, Bear Bow

Tinplate Toddler
Let´s not talk about toy trains today!

I agree, let's talk about sewage pumps instead Big Smile

What a beautiful machine! And this — for sewage! I wonder how fancy the engine was to supply power to Buckingham Palace?

I began snooping around for some information on various designs of Corliss and other stationary engines as I'm incorporating a double compound engine in my power plant for the Hulett electrical supply.

 Powerhouse2 by Edmund, on Flickr

I have fond, youthful memories of seeing the huge engines preserved at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan. I've always had a fascination for these beautiful machines so I wanted a representation of one on the layout.

I just love this stuff, when power plants were designed and built like palaces. Polished brass, glazed tile, colorful enamels.

These were shrines to the gods of steam!

Enjoy the day, Fellows...

Regards, Ed
