Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have some Seneca lake Dark Roast Coffee for my R&GV RR Mug and a couple of those sour cream glazed donuts over tghere...

Little white thingies floating out of the sky this morning here in the Finger Lakes. Currently 23°F outside with a high of 26°F sometime later today.  Got about an inch of light and fluffy overnight.  If they hadn't already salted the roads i might quick go out and drive around in it to see how the new tires do in a little bit of the stuff...  LOL.

Uncle_Bob, you didn't miss anything.  Vinny was just paying a social visit to remind us to stay off certain topics which can be devisive.  I was trying to say the same thing and let YGW know that If I were to continue the conversation it would become something that "Vinny" would clean house for.  Hopefully YGW knows that I respect his right to hold different ideas than I do...  (We aren't really opposite in thought, BTW.  More like 90° away...)  This is just not a place where those things should be discussed.... Smile  Steven didn't delete anything that I am aware of....  He checks out the thread often to make sure we are behaving ourselves. WhistlingLaugh

I am trying to get some loose ends tidied up here today.  Waiting to get a "Care Package" from a company to be able to finish up the Grider Bridge Project.  May take this time to do some major cleaning up down there.  Also waiting to hear from two more Schools to check the spellings of the Winners Names for the Art and Poetry Contest.

Coffee is here and Zoe is bringing over the donuts...  Time to enjoy!  Catch you later!

Uncle Bob - shoot me a PM and I will fill you in on the details. It seems that I have yet again crossed over the invisible line in the grey area where others seem to tread with out crossing Confused I will fill you in there. I didn't know it was pneumonia that did Jackson in ! I thought it was complications from his wound

BO Cyl. - so those two unmentionable guys showed up at the session I see !

Ken - what is it about Jerry that drives you nuts ? The Y6b is beautiful are you still considering selling it ?

Henry - hmmm I wonder if Dr. Jenny's good looks helped improve the beat of your ticker ? Whistling

Gary 112 ! Heck that is nothing look up how long Moses lived, now that would be a heck of a goal !

Howmus I am glad you were not offended. Even though we may have different thoughts I do like interacting with you and I always want to hear others side and I am always curious about other perspectives. I may not agree but I do enjoy thought provoking discussions with respectful discourse between different parties. If you are agreeable to a discussion I would love to hear your thoughts maybe in the PM ? Hope your day is great.

Mr. B an 07 with 132k that is not bad. Here we have the dreaded car tax. Every year we have to pay taxes on the same vehicle. We despise it. So the older the vehicle and the higher the miles the cheaper the tax. All of my vehicles have as many miles and more than yours (1 has almost 300 k ) because of tax and insurance.

Dear it seems the political correct thought police have been in and didn't appreciate my discussion on a gov holiday. I guess that crossed into religious politics . I am always confused by what is allowed by some and not by others Confused Confused anyways can you PM or email me what was deleted by Vinnie ?

Yes it is true he turned his head and I do declare he LOOKED straight at me ! Sorry to cause you so much work ! Will your svc area have a wash station for clean up on the passenger cars ? Will there be any coal facilities ? RIP track ? Caboose track ? hump yard ?

Well gotta get to w**k TTYL

Galaxy, I hope you feel better soon.  Pneumonia isn't something to screw around with.  It got one of my wife's stepbrothers, as well as Stone wall Jackson and probably millions of others over the years.

Speaking of lungs, my pulmonologist told me Fri that I only have to see her once a year because my sarcoidosis seems to be in remission.  I'm happy about that.

I kind of wish I knew what was going on in here before Vinnie swept through.  Oh well.  I'd probably just myself in trouble.  Angel

 Evening Dinners

 Flo, Beer Please.

First Snow Fall Of The Year Today. Really did not get much so far but the roads where sort of bad. Funny thing we knew it was coming for 2 days? Yet nothing was done, no salt, no beet juice and no snow plows.

Work, well I did work on our Medical Bills for the year to see if I can get a break. So it was slooooow. Only one customer came in to today and it was a Be Back from Monday. That was fine with me! After 3 days with Jerry I needed a quite day.

New Home Loan I close on the new loan this Wednesday weather perminting. BoS is sending someone to my house so I can sighn the papers? Whistling I find this funny with what all I had to do to get the orginal loan Modifyed! Bang Head

Hello folks - I started this in the afternoon Tuesday. Not sure just when this may be posted (I’m  writing in WORD and saving as I’ve to be out tonight and dinner in consequence will be earlier than usual. Actually had a useful phone session with a customer service chap today! Got my new blood sugar meter set up to register 0.5 increments of fast acting insulin as the pen I have has that capability, and the meter in the inner workings can be set off the default to calculate suggested dosing at 0.5 unit increments. Yeah!
YGW:
Ulrich - Did that engineer actually turn his head or is that some trick of FX ?
…so it wasn’t just my eyes playing tricks! You saw that too..cool effect eh?
Der - That is a pretty nice job there. Will your passengers train have a station or stations ? Service terminal for the cars and engine to be cleaned serviced etc...?
You’re making me w*rk! Actually it’s a very helpful exercise this track planning thing.
Will there be stations? – um, yes Embarrassed I’ve “built” a generic station and cloned it at the three passing sidings. That's where the "w*rk" comes in...
Service terminal for cars – probably not – but for engines probably yes as I’ve still some sanding tower equipment in storage – and if not an oil tank, certainly an old tank car which can be sacrificed to the cause.  So an engine house and the turntable have now also appeared. (more w*rk) The latter has a few spur tracks to accommodate spare locos, a service facility of some kind, etc. Here’s a view, and the revised track plan.

Had to wait a while before posting that track plan image. I went to my SCARM files to find the original to screen grab it and send that to Photobucket – well, I couldn’t get into SCARM – the last screen grab I’d taken was by a method I hadn’t used before – the “snapshot” in their 3D viewer. It files by default in a place I didn’t recognize, so I changed it to somewhere I usually keep images – and that was fine, or so I thought. Anyway, when I go to find the original track plan to screen grab it – no go! The default is now set to my chosen resting place for their snapshots! (banghead). There is a workaround, fortunately, and so now (after dinner and a trip to prison – quite literally, it’s a new ministry at our church – I’m back for Part 2 of this visit. Smile

What I’d appreciate, if you’d be so kind, is for you guys to run an operator’s eye over that track plan and let me know what you see as operating snafus built in; and if found, any suggested fixes. Multae gratiae

Careful what you wish for.  My mother is 87 and all but 2 of her friends have died, and they aren't in very good shape.  Her mother died at 99 and she may get there, which is too bad because she no longer knows what day it is or the name of her only great grand daughter.

On a plus note, the hot Dr. Jenny has declared my heart significantly better than in November, she reduced my coreg and gave me a chest stick-on EKG that is probably no bigger than 2 DCC soundboards and speakers to wear.  In 2 weeks I mail it back in.  If I have more than 25,000 pvc a day, I think she gives me a prize Wink

Vinnie was here.

No politics, religion, or religio-political stuff in the Diner, please.

As does S-e-x, drugs and rock and roll....and here I done it...I mentioned two rock and roll deaths, I'd better leave before Vinnie hs my head!

Paid the water bill, expected it to be high as we laundered everything over  here when we moved it, but it was less than $1 a day for water, sewer and capital improvements. I won't complain, but some of you may pay more or less than we are.

Spent $50 at the Dollar TRee but got goos stuff, and some food stuffs. Used to ignore it as was out of date, near out of date, undated etc, but our AG fought against such practices, so now hard to find day-old anyhting anywhere. Funny, that was what I was done brung up on, didn't do me no hurt!

well, I think a quick nap is in order before the electrician shows up.....

Afternoon folks!

Chloe, I could sure use a large mug of hot chocolate right now...

Currently 22°F with a 20mph wind outside....  I didn't get in here this morning as i had a whole lot of things I needed to get done...  I was two days late getting groceries bought.  Was running out of very important stuff like Kittie Litter!!!  Milk!  Half and Half!  Distilled water for the kitties and my CPAP!  Got over to the store and parked right next to the wife of the President of Hobart and Willian Smith College here in town.  She was one of the people highly involved with the Art and Poetry contest so she rolled down her window and we chatted for a few minutes.  By the time I gort in the store, I was chilled to the bone!  Really bitter out (wind chill of 6°F) and I didn't have my long johns on.

Right after lunch I had to take the PiP in for new tires.  That took some $$$ out of the Tesla Fund, but they ride and handle great and are very quiet compared to the OEM tires that were baldies.  So "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow..."  I then stopped at the Natural Food store and got my favorite coffee, some organic tropical friut things, and some great organic chocolate bars for snacktime!

YGW, Offended?  No.  Do I agree with you?  No!  I think we will just have to disagree as I will not comment in here on the subjects.  It would be way over the line of what is allowed for both Religeous discussion, and politics.  You have a right to your opinions as do I.  Lets leave it there.....  I am kinda suprised that Vinnie hasn't been in...... Whistling  He was in over in another thread which I looked at last night right before I went to bed and a certain persons obscene posts have been removed....

I am just waiting for the PiP to recharge for a while to head back downtown to get the offering from the MLK service yesterday deposited in our account.  I didn't want it sitting in the car while they were changing the tires.....  BTW, the brother of one of the two managers at the Tire store is a fairly well known pianist and entertainer who goes by the name of Ron Pass.  He was a student of mine here in Geneva way, way back when and was a student accompianist for my choruses.  He is now out in California someplace.  Last I had heard he was performing in Las Vegas.

Just about time to head to the bank...  Also waiting on a few more schools here to let me know of any spelling changes needed on the winners names.  Then I will get the list off to the many places who will want to know, including the local paper.

Later!

Mr. B - How did the rims get bent ?Pot holes ?

I assume so.  Until last year, this was my daughter's car.  It's a 1999 Toyota Corolla, back when they made them to run forever.  It only had 60,000 miles on it when we bought it in 2007, and it's got 132,000 now.

Potholes are a nightmare here.  I have to drive through another town's roads to get anywhere, and their concept of maintenance is a joke.

I figure that if I can keep this car running on $1200-1500 of repair dollars a year, it's still cheaper than getting a new car.  When it gets higher than that, it's time to trade "Carol" in for a newer model, but I don't drive all that much anymore, and she's got a garage now so hopefully she's still got a few more good years.

Good evening all. Brisk 11 degrees here with -4 degrees wind chill factor. Burr. I know, to you all up north this is probably summer weather but to us "snow wusses" as Galaxy so APPLY applied to us southerns, it is dang cold !

Howmus - I hope I didnt offend you. I think I may have. I think it is a good thing you do.

Mr. B - How did the rims get bent ?Pot holes ?

V8 - I knew you were kidding. I understood but it does help as the song goes "it never rains in southern California..." it certainly does help to understand the humor when one understands the geography.

BO Cylinder - LOL Soonish ? Where can I find that in Websters ? Whistling

Galaxy - I hope like BO Cyl. stated so eloquintly I too hope you get better "soonish" here is another Angel lifted up for you. Lets make sure you are not one of those checking out like flies !

Ken - Did I see Norfolk and Western on the side of that loco ? Is that one yours ? Nice ! I love your way with words too like "death scooter", Barley and Hops...LOL

UP831 - HELLO it is so nice to see you here again !

Jeremy - are you okay ? Anyone know how to reach him ?

Hello to all of the rest of the "folks" Garry, Henry, Lion, Angel, Johnboy...

How often does your auto repair shop make you really happy?  I've had a persistent resonant vibration in the front end of my car for some time now.  It only shows up when I hit 65, which isn't all that often now that I don't drive to work anymore.  But, I may be driving north to go skiing in this car every once in a while, and that's 3 hours on the highway.  So, even though they haven't been able to find the problem in a couple of earlier visits, I decided to give them one more chance.  I told them they needed to take the car out on the highway and get it up to speed.  They said they'd have to charge for the time, but I said it was fine if it helped find the problem.

The mechanic had the answer within 30 seconds of high-speed driving.  I have a couple of slightly bent rims.  They switched them to the back of the car and the problem was solved.

Yeah, I'll need a new set of rims, but we agreed it's OK to wait until summer so I don't have to drive my new rims during the upcoming pothole season.

Good Evening Diners,

Been awhile!

Brunhilda, I'll have a Earl Grey tea with cream and honey, please.

Don't have much to report.  Work has been busy.  That's a good thing.  Weather is   cold, but that's normal for this time of year.

YGW:  I understand what you are saying.  However, it isn't limited to MLK day.  I had a physics teacher often say that when a politician gets an idea, he usually gets it wrong!  Lotta truth to that.

Ken:  Love that B&O pic.

Hi to everyone.

I hope everyone is OK, safe, and warm.

Less is more,...more or less!

Ulrich - Did that engineer actually turn his head or is that some trick of FX ? Have you ever been there and actually viewed the layout ?

BO Cylinder - Sounds like a good "Gotta" kinda day !

V8 - Really that get panicky about rain ? Why ?

Der - That is a pretty nice job there. Will your pasengers train have a station or stations ? Service terminial for the cars and engine to be cleaned serviced etc...?

Galaxy - How does it feel to be home ?

Howmus - I have mixed feelings about MLK day. On one hand I recoginze that there was a need to lift up African Americans from the pkace they were/are. But I also abhor the instutionalized rascism of MLK day. I also think the day misses the mark of what Dr. Martin Luther King was really about. He was first and formost a Pastor. A Pastor by occupation is a man of God doing Gods work. What is Gods work ? Tending to the souls of people to make sure they have an eternity in the hereafter ( heaven ) if that is not a huge part of MLK day then I think Dr. King would be turning over in his grave. It is eqaul to going into a burning house and straightening pictures. What good has ultimately been performed in the long view ? Sadly I do not hear or see anyone taklking about that. MLK day misses the mark of what Kings ultimate goal was. The salvation of souls. Not just making life better here for the brief period we are here. After all this life is but a spec in eternity. Which is more important ?

Good evening.  Oh, brrr, its cold tonight.  When I took my daily walk, this afternoon, my feet actually got cold which rarely happens.  Think I may need some new alpaca socks as the old ones are getting a little thread bare.

Time to head to the basement an glue down a section of roadbed.

My granddaughter made the newspaper as she sang a duet with a friend at the middle school / high school musical program this weekend.  She also performed her dance solo at one the area nursing homes which was also covered in the local paper.  Very proud of her for her artist talents.

Galaxy, hope your lung problems clear up soon.

Uhlrich, glad to see you will be heading home this coming Friday.

Hope everyone had a good MLK holiday and remembered his Dream.

Evenin' Folks!

Janie, I'll have a piece of Sweet Potato Pie and a cup of decaf to complete the celebration today of the life and work of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

March, service, and dinner all went very well here in Geneva, NY.  The speaker who is the Executive Director of Education for the Hilside Children's Center of the Hillside Family of Agencies was wonderful and gave a powerful call to action.  She is the SIL of the president of the MLK Committee here in Geneva.  I told him after the service, "Too bad she is already married!"  He grin and nodded his head in agreement... Smile, Wink & Grin  Her outlook on human rights and mine are identicle and she is very easy on the eyes....  She is my DIL's boss basically.   I took a few hundred photos of most everything going on today.

I am completely worn out as I was on my feet all day.  Tomorrow I will be sending the list of Art and Poetry Winners to each of the School Secretaries to have them check names (spelling) for me.  We still have two 2nd. graders who we only know by a first name...  One of them didn't give us a phone # to contact them about winning a prize...

Galaxy, hope you can everything at least moved from the trailer on time, even if it means it just gets dumped somewhere for the present at the new house.....

I am waiting to get a box from a small company to be able to get back to work on the Girder Bridge.  The box will contain plaster rock strips for the supports in the middle of the bridge...  In the mean time there is a lot of other things for me to busy myself with.

Quote for tonight...  "The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice."  Theodore Parker

Have a great night!

Evening Diners,

I totally forgot it was Martin Luther King Jr Day or I like to call it Civil Rights Day. If you remember a few years ago it was renamed for two years and they changed it back. Too bad I don't remember the two years.

I hate to buy something over the internet when a holiday rolls along and gets struck over a two day weekend.

Hello folks: A late afternoon coffee would be good about now - I've been playing around with this SCARM program and editing buildings - odd expression, but that's what one does! So, here's what a bunch of cloned office towers looks like thrown down at the "Out-in-the-open" end loop area of the proposed layout.

yougottawanta
Der - That was me/ Is that a Y at the lower end ? Will you install a round house ? Will there be buisnesses along the way that need PU and delivery ? What type of manufactures ? Soley freight ? Passenger svc ?

Is that a Y? - not quite, but electrically I have a stationary controller ready to handle any polarity issues. It's more of an interchange access track from the diagonal "interchange road" onto "my" as yet unnamed RR = the rest of the layout.

Will i install a roundhouse - No, but I do have an Atlas N turntable from the last layout which I may shoehorn in to give loco directional changes if needed.

I'd probably just use one track this time. I need to see what space is required.

There will be industries (the Timesaver has that in mind) and service will be both passenger and freight. What type of industries yet to be determined - and passenger includes a Budd RDC as well as a mix of light and heavywheigh coaches. Locos are as old as a TRainmaster and 2xGP15s to GP 38 - so era could, at a stretch be now...Whistling

Have to go - egg and chips are about to be prepared.Dinner (and yes, there will be veggies.) LOL
