 Evening Dinners

 Flo, Beer Please

Just sipping a brew watching the trains run forgetting my problems. Trains are running well and I am enjoying them and thinking about Christmas. For some reason no matter where I work Christmas time is a lean time of the year for me $ wise. This year is the same. Sigh

My total budget this year is $75.00 for my wife, daughter and Shawn my new SIL. Shawn has busted his caboose working around my house so I would like to do something extra for him, but lack of funds? Whistling Well you get the idea.

Shawn likes Model Railroad's and has had a few layout, so I would like a gift train related. My daughter on the other hand (Like most females) think they are a waste of money! You should have seen the look of Horror on her face when she found out I have a $600.00 steam engine! Smile, Wink & Grin Yet she has a $500.00 smart phone? Laugh

Question IS Should I give Shawn a Train Related Present?  I have around 6 Proto 2000 rolling stock kits I was given. I have no need in anymore rolling stock. Do you think I will start a War this Christmas if I give Shawn some of the Rolling Stock as Gifts?

Yes Gary, I did that 68 Charger when I ran the Body Shop. While I was the manager, I did all of the Speical Mopars my self.

 Later, Ken

We're up late tonight.

Ken... You certainly are talented with body shop work. I'm thinkng it is a shame your talents are not being used. .... Sounds like Shawn is a good Son In Law .... I just realized SIL is either a Son in Law or a Sister in Law. I can figure out which one Shawn is. Whistling

Ray .... Looks like you are on the home stretch with your fabulous bridge.

YGW ... Of course,  we Diners care about Kelly and her family.

Galaxy ... Your efforts are commendable. I'll see if I can find an old PM thread with youto reach you with. I am unable to start a new one.

My MIL is Italian so an Italian feast, including lasagna, is part of our family's Christmas Eve traditions. Good times.

Good Morning everyone !

First day of Christmas vacation. I am cooking breakfast for the family. You are welcome to join in if you wish ! We are having cinnamin buns ( yummy !) sausage links, biscuits, eggs and REAL bacon. MOH usually makes us eat that fake turkey stuff because it doesnt clogg up atreries. BUT wally world was ALL OUT last night when I went Big Smile so we get a treat and REAL bacon ! So grab a plate and come help yourself !! Breakfast is on me .

Jeremy - Lasagna for Christmas ? Hmmm never tried that. Is your family from Italian back ground ? My Aunt is second generation Italian - Man can she cook !!! She is beautiful, Awsome personality, loves God and family - My uncle did good picking her !

Ken - I had a 68 charger but it only had a 318. I had to do a total rebuild on the car. Rebuilt the enginge, replace the tranny and rear end. Always had electric problems especially with the voltage requlator. Went through one about every two months. Still I loved that car. If I could find one now that didnt cost a gazillion dollars I would buy one in a New York minute !

Why did you get out of the body work buisness ?

Garry thank and I enjoyed the PM. Feel free to send any anytime.

Ulrich - Sent you another email.

Every year for Christmas I buy one locomative for myself. Funds being what they are and helping out with SIL family and anoyuther couple in Church who is going through a really rough time the funds are limited. So this year I found an Stewart N&W Alco C630 #1133. It was lower than the others being offered but more than I wanted to pay. So I contacted teh seller and made an offer thirty dollars lower than the asking price - SURPRISE - he accepted ! I couldnt believe it. I had just resigned myself to no locomative this year. Well what a wonderful turn of events.

Well the Bacon is almost done Dinner so let me go get them out of the pan and I will touch base later.

The breakfast bell has rung so come on and eat. Oh Barry you gotta leave some for the stragglers !

It's going to be close to 70 degrees here in New England for Christmas Eve.  Unfortunately, the warmer weather has been delayed a but (airport delays over New York, no doubt) so it's still only in the 50s.  I won't be taking a bike ride, probably just a walk.  About the time the "heat wave" gets here, we will be on the road to Old Orchard Beach in Maine to spend the holiday with our daughter.

I went out to a different local music club last night.  I ended up sitting with the band and some of their friends, and once again, I have the urge to play music.  Maybe I'll do something about it.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

Good Evening!

I am back from taking my son to the train station. We had an enjoyable afternoon with a delicious meal and some good talk. Santa came early today and we exchanged the few gifts there are. I got a nice 2016 steam loco calendar, which came with two small copies of enamel railroad advertising signs of the 1930´s, plus a book about "Molli", that´s the steam train on the Baltic Sea coast near Rostock. The gift I had for Petra (a new wrist watch) has not yet arrived Sigh

We will now have a rather quiet evening, filled with memories of the good times we had.

I am still a little sad we cannot have the family Christmas I always looked for.

YGW - thanks for the picture!

Have a nice Christmas Eve!

Mornin' folks!  (It was when i started this a while ago.)

Zoe just a cup of Marrakesh Express Dark Roast Coffee please.

I have been busy cooking down the Butternut Squash to make my famous baked winter squash recipe for Christmas dinner at my Son's house tomorrow.  Starting to clean house today as well.  Will need to open a couple windows shortly as it is 73°F inside the house at the moment.  Currently 64*F outside on this Springlike chrsitmas Eve here in the Finger Lakes Region.  Kinda reminds me of visiting family in Flowidah over the Holidays many years ago....  Will be spending time starting to clean house today as well.  The Children's Christmas Eve Service at Church starts at 4PM.  I will attend to hear my granddaughters sing in the service and sit with family.  Then i will go over to their house for supper.  Back over for breakfast and gift exchange tomorrow morning, back home to bake the squash and then back to their house for Christmas Dinner mid afternoon...  I will be the "Official" Photographer for their families flury of opening wayy too many presents.  A family tradition I guess.  Saturday I will be at my sister's house along with my son and his family for her Christmas doings.

Garry, I like the White tractor.  I drove a couple like that when I was a kid.  (Used to help Don Howard and his crew load hay onto a tractor-trailer when I was 9 years old...)  One of my favorite old flatbed trucks was a White-Rio cab over that was really cool because it didn't have any brakes except the emergency on the floor....  It had a two speed rear axil that once stuck when like an idiot I tried to see what it would do in high range and it stuck half way between low and high....  I then found out the hand brake was between the transmission and the axil.  Found myself freewheeling down the road at 40 mph...  I managed to swing it in to the old equipment place at Don Howard's Farm Equipment and drive it into a pile of dirt he had sitting there.  It then went back into low range and this very, very scared kid left it there, parked the truck, and walked back home!  Didn't tell my dad about that one for many years!

Sun is trying to shine and I have w*rk to do.  Catch you all later!

Good afternoon diners,

I finished wrapping up the Christmas presents, I was going to skip it this year because of no interest of wasting paper.

I was going to watch the new Star Wars movie, but than I realized I would get bored half way through. It takes me 3 different days to watch a full movie or any activity for that matter.

My brain losses interest and decides to do something else. The total opposite when I watch train videos, if I get to comfortable on a chair I fall asleep with the smoothing sounds of locomotives. It must be old age right?? Am I alone?

YGW: Thoughts and Prayers go out to You and family members...sad to hear what happened.Angel

GALAXY: I did not get a chance to get that done yet...probably not until Mon. Had been busy with some unexpected matters.

Frank ... If you are looking in, what do you think of it ?

GARRY, I did see Your pic' on WPF and believe You did a fine job on the tractor.....I also believe it looks much better pulling that trailer than the 2 1/2 ton Chevy.

Yesterday was very stormy. Today is very calm.

GARRY, Another line of Yours that I'm quoting. We had some tremendously heavy duty rain, followed by really weird wind late last night...could have maybe even been the tail end of a tornado...Its happened before here...20 yrs. ago, it took out two weeping willow trees in My back yard....unfortunately....this year it got My house.....took out a large swatch of shingles on the South east side of My house, about 4ft x 25ft and evergreen trees and two flag poles from the Memorial Vet. lot next door. My roof is only 7yrs. old. Got a roofer coming out Sat. to repair it and anything else, I can find.

Gotta' go....The village has sent someone out to have a look....

Take Care, All! Big Smile

...all of ours (small and not many - stuff our cat "gives" to each of us LOL) were wrapped this year in paper saved from previous years. When it isn't going out to "non-family" we reckon it doesn't have to be pristine!   So now we are waiting to go to the evening service and a quite dinner back here - and all that remains is for me to wish you all (and y'all where it's appropriate) a very Merry and Blessed Christmas.

Oooh Top of Page! That used to mean the round is on me - so place your orders gents!

Merry Christmas to all.

In the process of finishing up Christmas baking.  Cinnamon rolls are in the oven and the orange rolls just came out and were frosted and ready for breakfast at the daughters house in the morning.  As soon as the rolls are done I have to get ready to go join my church choir for evening service.

Garry, the truck looks great.

Frank, sorry to hear about your weather damage.  I think we came close last night but front moved about 20 miles south with the 70 MPH winds.  We just had hard rain which resulted in having to shop vac up water under the layout this morning.  Sure glad I built all my bench work legs with extended leveling bolts which keeps the wood out of the water when the basement leaks.

Uhlrich, thanks for the Christmas music.

Hope everyone has a joyous Christmas Day!

 Evening Dinners

 Flo, Beer Please.

Got My Christmas Shopping Done. Pretty much blew my budget and my Christmas Bouns on Shawn, Sharon, Sparkie (The Rocket Dog and Sue. Hum, 4 S's in a row.

Shawn (Son I L) gets a Screw Driver Bit Set, tube of glue, 3 PK 2000 rolling stock kits and $25.00

Sharon (Daughter) Gets some Star Wars Figuers (At age 43 she still loves Star Wars) and $25.00.

Sue (Wife) Gets a Kohl's Gift Card worth $25.00 and $25.00 cash.

Sparkie (The Rocket Dog) gets a dog bed and $25.00. Not sure what he will do with it? Whistling Sure the wife will have some ideas. Smile, Wink & Grin

What did I get? Big Smile Stopped by K-10 model trains to buy some glue for Shawn. While I was there, I bought my self a few things.

1 Atlas Turnout Snap Motor and Switch Controler.

2 Used Blue Box B&O GP 35 for $14.95, hope it has a low Amp number.

3 Used Blue Box B&O 3 bin coal car for $2.95

4 Used Blue Box Chessie B&O Cabosse for $6.95

Gary The yellow cars is Allens 1970 Dodge Challanger. He is the friend that is storing my 68 Road Runner.

Why I am no longer in the body shop business, long store. When I started working there you where judge by your numbers. After the owner died, butt kissing was the order of business! Guess I did not pucker well, but my numbers where good. Problem is they flat lined, but at a profit! New Evil Overlord (Jim Smith) bounes was based on Increase In Sale, not Profit! I was canned 3 times, new Gift To God would tank the shop (-$15,000 to -$30,000) net lose. I would be asked back and get the net profit up to $75,000 (to home offices, not shop level) the Evil Overlord lost his bouns from my shop so I was canned again! I was asked to come back a 4th time, but I told the something I cannot type here! Big Smile

Evenin' Folks!

Janie, just a refill on my decaf please...  Thank You Ma'am!

Just got back here a few minutes ago from having a quick supper over at Son's hopuse after the Children's Lessons and Carols Service at Church.  My son, DIL, and the Granddaughters were ushers tonight and the girls sang in one of musical selections.  I will be heading over to their house early tomorrow for breakfast when we will exchange our gifts.  Then back home to get the squash in the oven to bake and then get back over there for the main event of the day, Roast Prime Rib with all the trimmings!

I will have just enough time to bake the squash and recharge the PiP before heading back over.....  Saturday will be a Ham Dinner at my sisters house and the exchanging of presents with her.  I have another dish of Squash to bake and take to her house....

Garry, LOL, I have managed to survive many stupid things I did with tractors, trucks, cars, and other equipment growing up on the farm.....  Today, I am especially careful when using equipmant or driving as I figure I have used up at least 8 of the 9 lives a cat would have..... WhistlingLaugh  I will tell you there is a really bad feeling about rolling down the highway doing 35/40 mph in a large truck with no brakes and the wheels not being attached to the engine and transmission.  I was looking around to find the safest place to ditch the old thing and how to talk my way out of being in real bug trouble with my dad if I was to even survive the accident....  I was about 13 or so at that time I think.  I tell people, I had a lot of fun losing my hearing while I was growing up!  Aren't too many 7 year old kids around who knew how to double clutch a 1934 4 ton axel chevy truck to downshift.....

Have a blessed Christmas out there to all who celebrate.  If you celebrate something else, then I hope that will be a great as well!  There is an absolutely gorgeous full moon outside here in the Finger Lakes tonight.  Truly wonderful.  From my house to yours:

All I recieved the following today from my MIL

"When I arrived home yesterday, the boys greeted me with excitement and told me how two boys ( These wer our Pastors sons ) at Uncle YGWs church gave them their favorite books.  They were very impressed and thankful.
When I walked into the foyer, I could not believe my eyes!  It looked like Santa had come and gone.
We are overwhelmed with the blessings God has showered upon us and the Angels he has surrounded us with.
We know Kelly is in God's hands and are so thankful for His mercy and love for us all.
Please tell your Pastor how grateful we are and to please continue to pray for spiritual and physical healing.  Her brain injury is a major concern now and her inability to swallow.
Merry Christmas!"

I believe in the power of prayer- thank you all for being fervant prayer warriors.

Today we went to my fathers house. Food wasnt that great ( cold pizza ) but I didnt go for the food. Went for the fellowship with my family. I am very blessed there. My dad is approaching his 80s and he is still in good health and actually works half days doing home repairs, handi man stuff etc...amazing. My oldest son and his wife were there - he is so funny, My sisters etc..we had a great time.

Garry - responded to your PM
Cuda - LOL $25 for Sparkie ? Reminds me of the show "Married with children" when Al Bundy was handing out money and his dog came by and took some.
Jim - Merry Christmas to you also
Duke - like the qoute in your tag
Der - We reuse Christmas bags
Frank - Thanks for the prayers.
Angel - Watching Nascar does the same thing to me. The sound of those big motors runnung around the track and 50 laps later yours truly is out !
V8 - That would have stunk ! No money and credit cards that dont work !
Howmus - Phew your schedule makes me tired just reading it !

I did not sleep well so I am already dead tired at 9.30am - can hardly keep my eyes open.

It´ll be leftovers at this end - there is plenty left from yesterday´s feast.

Yes, Ulrich

Since MOH leaves for work weekdays @ 5:45 am, we are UP @ 3:00 am! Time for coffee, breakfast and shower, plus MOH has to file daily computer reports on the previous day's activities with the Special Needs individuals MOH works with!

On weekends MOH leaves for work at the grocery store @ 6 am as MOH is the first morning cashier in.

So, YES... Breakfast @ 3:30 am is normal here.

I was, at 4 am putting up opaque contact vinyl on the garage windows... Made guess where?... Why in Deutschland of course!

Selbstklebend folie d-c- fix ist eine   marke der Konrad Hornschuch AG, Salinensrasse 1, 74679 Weissbach, Deutschland 2 m roll of something similar to bedruckt Tulia.

I put it up on the garage windows so people can't see into the garage. I also put some on the storm door glass between the garage and the 3 season room for privacy there, too. It helps to deter theft. That was my morning. Now watching Christmas special on TV, then shower before MOH gets here to see what Santa brought!

I had oatmeal for breakfast, then about 9 will have a second breakfast of eggs, sausage and home fries and I'll make cinnamon rolls too.

Well best get ready for MOH' s arrival

Have a Merry happy day y'all!

Selbstklebend folie d-c- fix ist eine marke der Konrad Hornschuch AG, Salinensrasse 1, 74679 Weissbach, Deutschland 2 m roll of something similar to bedruckt Tulia.

I didn´t think they still exist! That d-c fix stuff has been haunting me ever sind I was a child. We used it to "upgrade" worn furniture and it looked horrific!
