Yes, apparently they do still exist or old stock being sold off to stupid Americans...lol.
I can imagine horrific on furniture but great on windows!
The stained glass look ones will suffice until we either build some to overlour double pane windows or have them custom made...MOH' s ' orders'
I put the bubble looking one up on the garage door windows and covered as much of the side garage window as possible, then put the lace contact paper ( USA brand) on the storm door window to the 3 season room, and the scraps from that on the side garage window. Looks good though there are bubbles in it.. MOH complain ed I should have said ' where were you when the window was clear?
I said it works for now!

Afternoon folks and a very Merry Christmas to all!
I'm home for a bit between visits to my son's house today.... Did something very stupid setting the al;arm last night... Figured I needed to be up by 7AM to get everything done and over to my son's house by 8:30 for breakfast toiday. So i set the hour at 7AM. Then figured mybe I should get up a few minutes before that so I set the minutes to 55... there! I set the alarm to 7:55. Managed to wake up just before the alwarm rang, so I shut it off and went to take a shower and do all my morning psoriasis stuff. I came out into the kitchen to find it was now 8:30... the time I was supposed to be arriving at their house. Called son, whose phone was being charged and was off.. Gave the cats a quick dose of insulin, finished dressing and loading the car and managed to get to their house by 9AM...
Now I am back home baking the Winter Squash and getting some other stuff done. will head back over around 1PM.
Sounds like most of you are having a wonderful day. I pop back in tonight...

Been a busy Train Day so far! Speed match so engines, cleaned the M1a wheels and she is running well. Tested the new BB SD 35 and stalled out at .87 amps. Does have steel wheels, so they have to go.
Waiting for Sharon and Shawn to show up and it is time.

yougottawantaDer - nice background and I always appreciate " Merry Christmas" after all this is the reason we are given a few days off, shop to give gifts to commerate the wise men given gift to the baby Jesus....Thanks for actually saying Merry Christmas.
I commented yesterday (Christmas Eve in a PM to Galaxy that I'd drop a cheerful note in the Diner about "Merry Christmas" - but it didn't happen that day. So, here's the thing. As one drives by the Irving gas station in Pictou the managemnet has a sign outside wishing one and all a Merry Christmas, as does the sign at the DeCoste Theatre - and least likely, there is in the Post Office, on the "Line up here" pole a small banner which reads, yes indeed it does, "Merry Christmas". Add to this the usually so politically correct it squeaks CTV News wishing their audience "Merry Christmas" at the end of the Christmas Eve evening news! Maybe there has been enough groundswell of "enough" that businesses are listening!
"There are always alternatives, Captain" - Spock.
CNCharlieJohn(der) please say hello to Greyfox from me. I remember him well. He did send me the odd PM but I lost his e-mail address.
Check your PMs - I'm sending it right away!
We have had a quiet holiday here, last night we went with my son and his family to church then his wife made lasagna for us. It was wonderful, ate to much and had heartburn in the middle of the night.
Today we didn't do anything. wife and I enjoyed a quiet day at home she was working with her new sewing machine while I was working on the railroad.
I wish all of you a merry christmas and a happy prosperous new year.
Mike

Flo, Hoilday Cheer please.
Christmas went pretty well. Shawn and Sharon both seemed pleased with the I got them. Sue on the other other hand? Seems she only wants that come from the US Mint. I heard about after the kids left.
See you all Saturday, Ken
Evening guys
we had a great day today. Visited with my parents and nephews this morning, they got a ps4, lucky little brats, lol and they were rally excited for it. Chances are I will have to set it up for them. We then went to the wife's and had supper there. It was nice to meet with her step brothers and sisters as we only see them every couple years. Tomorrow we have dinner with my parenst again but my aunts and grandma come too and that will be it for Christmas this year. I go back to work on monday. It was great time but didn't feel like Christmas at all, I guess if we had some snow it would have helped a little. I did a little online shopping for myself purchasing some table top hockey players.
well, talk to you guys sometime tomorrow
I'm sorry I haven't been online lately, I've been busy with family stuff.
Here is what I got myself for christmas
I found 2 50' Overland Roundhouse chair cars at a train store, and scored a third chair car online as well as a Roundhouse 2-6-0, all lettered for Santa Fe.
I also found a coulple of diecast cars on ebay, outside of railroads I also collect model cars, sometimes when our module club has a show, i display 3-4 models on the "Orange Grove Corner" and 2 on the "Route 66 corner" while I run my trains on the layout.
Sometimes if you don't see what you are looking for on ebay, you might be able to find that particular item through an online train retail or hobby store.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays !!!
Good evening ....
I hope Santa Claus was good to each of you.
Dennis ... Instead of a "White Christmas" it was a "Wet Christmas".

Good Morning!
December 26th - the 2nd Day of Christmas in Germany or Boxing Day in the UK. Pretty quiet here, as all shops are closed and folks spend their time with the families.
Heartland Division CB&QInstead of a "White Christmas" it was a "Wet Christmas".
Same here, Garry - it started to rain later in the day yesterday and is all wet now.
I´ll be leaving my place on the 4th of January, so I only have a few days left here with Petra. The place I have to go to for rehabilitation is a two hour´s drive away from my place or 4 hours by train, which I will be taking, so Petra will have the car for the time of my absence. I still don´t like to drive - for obvious reasons.
I have been giving some thought on where I would like to be to spend the rest of my days. One option is described in the following video:
Another great place for me woud be somewhere along this line:
Finally, one more choice:
I know living in any of these places will always remain a dream, as I lack two vital prerequisites for moving there - health and money.
Have a great day!
Heartland Division CB&Q Good evening .... I hope Santa Claus was good to each of you. Dennis ... Instead of a "White Christmas" it was a "Wet Christmas".
LOL here it was a dry 60 f day!
Ulrich:
I am very sorry to hear that! Do you have a laptop or smart phone you cna keep in touch with us with, or will we be in the dark?
To ALL:
My "BIG" christmas present was a diamond and sapphire ring from MOH, My birthstone is sapphire, MOH's is diamond, and sapphire is second hardness level to diamond, so they "wear" well togetrher, meaning one won't get shattered while the diamond survives, so much.
MOH's was a Swarovski Crystal Snow flake that MOH wanted.
MOH alos got a me a History of Trains book and a pull-out foldout book on trains also!
we both got clothes, so I have a mountain of clothes to wash now!!! up nad down those darn stairs at teh new house until we get teh stackable in the kitchen.
MOH thinks maybe around the first we will be rejoined at the new hosue, as MOH plans to bring Cud-Cuds over for NY's eve andleave him behind, taking almost all of the electronics too. We are going to leave behind a bunch of crap as teh trailer is going to be scrapped anyway. We don't wnat to drag it all over there.
The digital TV antenna doesn't always work! we moived in a bookcase and it blocked reception so we moved it, and the UHAUL truck blocked reception too, but once boht were moved, made little difference. I boughtan enhanced stronger antena {more $} to try. see if that imprioves.
well, I got a load of stuff from wally world to settle at teh new house, so I'd best leavet the computer behind for now.
later
Good morning everyone !
Semi lazy day planned. Went out and bought some breakfast foods and MOH is busy preparing breakfast food while I look over the forum. She LOVES to cook and is all . Today I will finish painting the study and patch a piece of drywall where I knocked over the corner cabinet and it punched a hole in teh wall about the size of a grapfruit. Should have moved it out.
Later I will check the mail and see if my new to me used N&W engine has arrived in the mail.
V8 - Sounds like there was a lot of folks there, bet that was fun !
Ulrich - Well if your health gets better come visit here. Where I live there are places near here that look like that. Google Shenadoah valley, skyland drive, applachian mountain.AND the NS runs through here the grandchild of the N&W !
Jeremy - No trains ?
Der - Love the Merry Christmas
Galaxy - second breakfast ? Are you part Hobbit ?
Garry - did you send me another PM ?
KELLY UPDATE - Yesterday we called my NIL,FIL and wished them a Merry Christmas. They sounded up beat at least more so than in the past. They were taking the boys in to see there Mom. I havent heard back from them. I hope it went well. Hospitals can be very scrarry for children. Especially when it is their parent that is in there. We are taking care of the boys from the 30 to Jan 4th. I am so thankful that I can help them with taking care of the boys. I love my in laws. When my wife was so ill they gave 110% of them selves and held nothing back. They laughed with us, cried with us, sat with us and were silent and prayed with us. Can you imagine having two daughters go through something so awful ?

YGW
YGW - Shenandoah Valley sounds great!
Here is one of my favorite songs from way back when (I was an exchange student at Bainbridge Island High, WA in 1973/74):
Howdy, everybody.
I'm glad we postponed our trip to Alabama until a few weeks later. Alabama's storms are in the national news. We're having storms here too, but not anything as severe as they are having. My family memebrs there are okay and hunkered down. ... We still intend to take our norther trip in a few days.
G ... That must be abn impressive ring.
YGW.... Glad you are able to take care of Kelly's boys. Also glad to hear they can now visit her. ... Prayers continue !.... I replied to a PM a couple of days ago.
Ulrich .... John Denver sang a great rendtion of "The Train They Call The City of New Orleans"
.....
Lyrics:
"Good morning, America, how are you?
Say, don't you know me? I'm your native sonI'm the train they call the City Of New OrleansI'll be gone five hundred miles when the day is done "
I really like that song
galaxyWell if I could figure out how to post pics I'd post a pic
Mornin'....... Well it wAs morning when i started to write this...
Zoe, just need another refill of the dark roast stuff...
Sun is trying to peek out here in the Finger Lakes from time to time. Yesterday while I was at my son's house the panels on my roof broke the record for December... Speaking of coffee... Most all the rerlatives on that side of the family gave me coffee for Christmas this year. Brought home 5 pounds of the stuff. (All in unground bean form, so they got the word I like to grind my own.) My son and DIL gave me a group pf very old antique toy trains that she found on ebay. These are the old,old cast iron ones. I'll have some photos in a couple days. Got a bunch of other stuff as well, I won't bore you with thye details. Had a wonder Prime Rib meal and lots of great desserts. Finished off with some "spiked" egg nog later in the evening. (I was quite legal by the time I headed home, BTW!)
The second dish of Winter Squash is in the oven baking at the moment. I shall be heading to Canandaigua for the "festivities" at my sister's house in about 45 minutes.
Garry, the John Denver version of City of New Orleans is OK, but I personally prefer the original by Arlo Guthrie! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvMS_ykiLiQ That is on my collection of Train Songs I play down cellar on the System I have down there when company comes or I just feel like having something playing while working down there.
Catch you all later!
Hey all
New record for me I think three post in one day. It is amazing what you can get done when you dont have to work !!
Garry - do you like the Glen Cambel version too ?
Ulrich - It is amazingly beautiful. There is one version ( unconfirmed ) that states that the word Shenandoah means " Beautiful Daughter of the stars" , During the summer one of my favorite things to do is mow at night on my tractor and admire Gods handy work in the sky and all of the zillions of stars up there.
MIL sent us a text. The visit with the boys went a little better than I expected. She writes in part :
"Day was as good as it could be. Moved her to a lower critical care....she is very confused...pulled her tract out during the night...restrained her to her bed...A nurse found compassion to loosen them for her to hug ( oldest son ) Younger son hung back...she had enough clarity to encourage them and tell them how much she loved them...Her brain injury is more serious than we were led to believe....."
This year is not ending well. MOH half recieved a call that her Aunt has had a heart attack and is not expected to make it. She will be heading into New York Monday with her brother to see her Aunt. I will stay and take care of the kids and animals.
One bit of good news. I had a visit with my heart doctor. He is taking me off of blood thinners and reduced it to baby aspirin.
YGW, sounds like this hasn't been your family year.
Will add prayers for your entire family.
We will have raised about $ 1 k for Kelly and the boys! Off to a good start!
AgainANYONE who wants to donate for YGW'S SIL, PM me, please Wed all like to raise a fair amount for them! We CAN do it!S
Prayers are good but $$ to help with the bills of every day life is needed too when you have to replace EVERYTHING you own! Not to mention documents replacement, a whole nuther night mare ask me how I know! They will have that too...
Well have a good night!
-G
Evening all. Just a RBF for me. Merry Christmas to all yall, hope everyone had a good one. I had to w**k today (not that it was busy), tomorrow the wife and I teach kids church, then it's off to her grandparents for Christmas with that side of the family.
Been looking at projects for myself to spend my hard-earned Christmas money on, so far I've seen many things to catch my eye, mostly in the form of a few locomotives that need a little help (running, bit need detail parts like hand rails, etc). Also been looking into getting some flex track and building a little shelf layout to just tinker aND switch cars on.
Welp, I just heard the timer go off in the oven so pork chops are done. Time to fix plates and feed kids amd adults.
Later taters!
Evenin' folks!
Janie, I just need another refill for my decaf please....
Well..... Dinner at my sister's house went quite well. She only yelled at me (Because I'm the little brother, I guess) a couple times, and the day was enjoyable all told.
After I got home from Canandaigua, I did managed to finish putting the rails on the Girder bridge. Only had one disaster.... I touched the hot soldering iron (used to strengthen the pliobond used to hold the rails to the ties and to solder where there are PC ties) to the top of the bridge. That destroyed a small section of the bridge! Grrrrrrrrrrrrr! It wasn't too bad to fix. I cut off the small area where it happened and put new "steel plating" back in place. Rivets were properly added, and tomorrow I will repaint the area. When finished I don't think it will even show.
Next couple days I will be cleaning the house as will be having company coming over next Wednesday and I have to be out at Boy Scout Camp on Tuesday. This coming week will have several dealines for other things to be done as well.
Galaxy, back when Agnes hit the "Valley" area where I lived. My Pastor there used to tell a story with a real moral. I think it ties in with what you said above.... Hope it is not out of place for me to tell it here. "A while back there was a terrible flood and an old man decided to "ride it out" in his home rather than leave like he should have. The water rose up to cover the top steps of his house and about that time a small row boat passed by and the men in it pulled up and said, "Old Man, get in the boat and we will take you to safety". The old man said, Nope, I don't think the water is going to get any higher, and besides, I been praying, and know that I will be saved... Later the old man was found leaning out of the second story window of his house. A motor boat pulled up, and the firemen in it said, "Old man Come, we'll help you into the boat and take you to safety!" Old man says, nope.... I think the water is starting to go down anyway, and I've been praying and I know that I will be saved! Next we find the old man on the roof of his house hanging onto the chimney. A helicopter comes by and they yell down that they are here to save the man. He again refuses telling them He is staying put and he knows he will be saved cause he has been praying! When we see the old man again he is at the pearly gates, and he is mad!!! He yells at St. Peter asking why with all the prayers he said, he ended up drowning? St. Peter shruggs his shoulders and says, "We sent two boats and a helicopter!"
I think sometimes the best "prayer" is, as we roll up our sleeves, "Oh Lord, Where do I start?" We can make some things a bit better and ought to every chance we get! Enough said.... And, I hope that isn't over any line of propriety we have here.
Hope all of you have a wonderful night and stay safe out there!
Good evening.
Bama ... Good to see you. Have you had much flooding where you live? ... Was Santa good to the children in your home ?
Ray ... I like the story you told G. There is much to think about in that story.
YGW .... I'm glad Kelly has improved. Sad to hear the brain damage may be extensive. Good the boys could see her. Tell he a lot of people are praying for her.
Regarding the song .... "The Train They Call The City of New Orleans:" .... I like the song no matter who sings it.
We are very busy getting ready for our trip up north.
Happy Model Railroading !
Garry the worst of the flooding happened either south of me by 20ish miles, or north of me by 100ish miles. Yes, the kids got a lot of what they wanted. This year, we made it easy by making them make up a list of what they wanted. From there we sent those lists out to all whom would be purchasing gifts. If it wasn't on the list, it couldn't get purchased.
Well, I guess I'll be heading to bed now, haven't been able to sleep yet, so maybe now I can.
Later taters
GM, MEN!
I do hope Santa was good to you.

Well, it´s actually close to lunchtime inh my neck of the woods. It´ll be maccharoni and cheese today.
I started to fiddle arount with the Lege design tool I recently downloaded. There is a big learning cureve to it, just like with any other CAD tool. I succeeded in making some changes to an existing design - a two-truck, two cylinder Shay.
Looks cool, doesn´t it? I have to develop the bill of material for it, but I don´t know how. I need the BoM to source the parts required to build it, which I eventually may do.
YGW - continuing for Kelly.
Have a good one!
