Good Morning!
As it looks, I am beating Galaxy to open today´s Diner
Flo, make that a light breakfast for me, just a bowl of cereal with milk and a mug of coffee, please.
Today´s video again takes us to the Southwest of Germany. We will ride a train pulled by a rather unique engine a standard gauge 0-10-0 T rack and adhesion engine built in 1922 to service the 1 in 10 line from Honau to Lichtenstein. Only 4 of this loco were built, 3 of which are preserved, but only 1 in operating condition, after rusting away for 50 years as a display. The locos were taken out of service in 1962 after freight service was abandoned on this line. Passenger service was done with special rail busses, equipped with a cog wheel. The line was closed down in 1969.
Enjoy!
Just a quick drop in. Had fun at the game and did manage to get a ball during batting practice. Just going to browse the net until I get sleepy, I'm off tomorrow so am glad for that

Work Front Pain in the caboose today, had 4 customers and 3 of them wanted to use the No Credit Needed Finance Plan. While I am glad we have it, it is a ture Pain In The Caboose!
UP 831 Has a whole the foot looks pretty good. This Thursday on my only day off I go to the VA to have it checked.
Ray Have you got the 100 gallon tank up and running yet? I would love to see a photo of it. Largest I have ever had running is a 70 gallon tank, looks like a 55 gallon but taller. It is sitting here to the right of me empyt with a Sunken U-Boat sitting in it.
Fence Front Well I started on the gate tonight, boy am I screwed! I bought the pressured treated lumber around 2 to 4 years ago. It was stored out side and stayed fairly dry and looked straight when I started working on it tonight. Wrong! Seems one of the end has twisted and it looks like a prop from the Home Inproments TV show. It is square, just crooked.

They're running excursions from Buffalo to Corning and back both days this weekend. Barring unforeseen problems, the plan is to head out to Corning, take pics, stop and see Dad, and come home. I'd love to get it on the Portageville viaduct, but pretty sure the road is closed, plus I'm not pulling out at 5 AM to have a chance of being in position in time. The excursion from Scranton on Sept 12 & 13 at least gives me a chance of getting pics of Galaxy crossing the Tunkhannock Viaduct!
Does anyone know where they're turning the train in Corning? There are two wyes, one in Gang Mills and one in Corning where the line to Watkins joins the Southern Tier, but I'm not sure which one they'll use. Also, does NS plan to keep the Berk in Buffalo for the next month, or is it heading home again before going to Scranton?
NEVER MIND< RAY!
I found it...BUt I think the 3 of us {our train nut friend and MOH and I} will ride the coach in the Steamtown excursion labor day weekend. In A/C'd comfort...
like it, will have to work extra hard to come up with the $119.00 per...though...I bet, RAY, you wish you hadn't yet bought the furniture you just bought?!?!
PS RAY;;You can go with us to Steamtown if you like!

We'll get there sooner or later!
Good Afternoon Diners,
Flo, I'll have a humongous cup of coffee with loads and loads of cream, please.
This last weekend, MOH and I went to Indy to work at the track for a church fundraiser. It was a lot of fun, but very tiring especially on the legs and feet. During the course of the event, we got to watch a few minutes of the race. This was a NASCAR race. As a kid, I was always a fan of formula 1 car races, but I had never seen one live. Boy, are they fast and LOUD!! Wow! I wish I was young enough to drive one of those!
Galaxy: it's very interesting that you selected the words tohu and bohu For your word of the day. I can't comment more without getting into religion, but it was interesting.
Lion: That is one interesting mysterious picture of the subway tunnel. Really moody. Is it a Photoshop shot? I like it.
Ray: Glad you were able to find the right piece for the south wall.
Ken: hope your feet are getting better. Keep those pictures coming.
Ulrich: your videos are fascinating. Wonder what we'll do next month? Keep up with your PT. Oh, and happy anniversary, belated.
YGW: just as an FYI, Merillat cabinets have a much wider distribution than Virginia. They are a brand of Masco who also makes KraftMaid cabinetry.
I hope everyone is OK and safe.

Good afternoon, It's a nice cool 62 degrees and raining up North. We managed to catch enough fish to feed 23 people for a island fish bake last night. Fun day of fishing with wife, brother-in-law, nephew and his wife.
Plan on trying out a newly opened old Chinese restaurant tonight with a crowd of 26 people. Told my friend we should keep the place open for another three months with our crowd.
JeremyB, have a good time at the game.
Lion, the night time subway pix is neat.

expecting up to 2 packages shortly.
I say up to two as the one site is down, so I cannot track it to find out if it got anywhere near here from Buffalo....or if still stuck in Buffalo..I hope it shuffle{d} off from Buffalo...
OOps, other site is up now, says "out for delivery"...now can UPS "find us"???
Nothing important. Just kitchen supplies...a pressure cooker ad cake slicing guide, for instance. And a two man mylar tent and fuel pellets for the portable stove, battery folding lanterns all for the bug out emergency bag{I HAD two, but lost one?One for each bag for each vehicle/person}. And some furniture covers. No biggie on those.
The garbage truck just came and hopefully took all the refuse from the shed I put out there, some people picked it over...good for them...
well, I am getting anxious, the mail was very late yesterday-usully here by now, and the UPS delivery never seems to "find us".... One package by each.
we shall see what we shall see when we shall see it...
later
Afternoon guys
i have tickets to tonight's jays game so that will be fun, the traffic into Toronto never is though. Probably not a good chance of foul ball tonight as I'm behind home plate but something might come back. I will drop back in later tonight or in the morning.
Gooooooooooooooodddddd Mor- Hmmm? Looks like I overslept today. Ahem! Good afternoon gents!
Zoe, just need some Seneca Lake Blend Dark roast coffee. I'll look over the menu and order lunch a bit later.
"We're havin' a Heat Wave..... Tropical Heat Wave...." Currently 85°F outside the door here in the Finger lakes Region with a bhigh around 90°F later this afternoon. Tomorrow they are predicting a high of 94° so I'll be staying inside most of the day in the air conditioning. Air conditionioner has been running non-stop today. Glad the sun is out so I can use solar power to run it!
Should have gotten in here earlier, but I have been recieving and sending emails about a major developement for the NMRA Divisions here in Western NY, and Northern PA. Not unexpected and not a bad developement, just means my Division has got to hurry up and get some paperwork done ASAP (that would be squarely on my shoulders)!
Yesterday afternoon I went and spent anoyther $420 on furniture for the living room. I decided to extend the Amish look all the way across the South wall of the living room and knew they had smaller versions of the Entertainment center I got in stock. So... Went out and found the 3 door one was almost exactly the length of the space I wanted to fill. Two very lovely young ladies loaded it into the back of my car and I got a neighbor across the street to help me move it into place in the living room. Still have to get a couple new table lamps and the track lighting system has been ordered. Finally getting to the end of the whole process I think.
Plan to actually get back to the layout this week!
Have a great day!
Morning All!
Flo just a coffee please as I ate early.
Not much to report today Gents. Just up before dawn to get chores done before the heat of the day makes it unhealthy. Thunderstorms keep forming a ways off in the distance over the hills but nothing has come our way. A little rain would indeed be a blessing as the fields, crops, and gardens are taking a beating. After a few inside the house jobs I need to accomplish I plan on working on some structure kits for the layout.
Well health and good spirits to all.
Happy Modeling!
Don.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I have some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that both engines have failed, and we will be stuck here for some time. The good news is that you decided to take the train and not fly."

It was a quiet day in here yesterday - I hope Vinnie and the girls will see more customers today!
Today´s video shows an extraordinarily well done HO scale layout. It´s a display layout showing the the line from Ottbergen to Bad Driburg in the mid-1970´s, when there was still a lot of steam action on that line.

July 28, 2015!
Flo, a Beer please.
Awful Day At Work! What is worse than no customers? Lot's of custmers at the same time! At one point I had 3 sets of customers at the same time, hard to take care any of them right and fill there needs.
Fence Front. I am going to need help, where would you folks find sort of cheap labor. And what should I offer a hour. I am guessing for what will be some what Hard Labor $10.00 a hour is to cheap. What will determain it will be hard labor depends on what we hit when driving in the fence post. I fear there will be a lot's and Lot's of good sizes roots!
well, if we get teh land, we cna pic adn choose the house to build...simple plain 1000Sqft or under 3 br 1 ba ranch,,,, the thing is, if we own the land, can we afford to buid a house on it? can we even get the mortgage?
several in a book my father gave me but we'd have to have an architect re-draw them as hte companies are out of business.
there used to be a kit hosue 24' x 24' I used to ahve the plans for,,it si SMALL needless to say, as only 576 sqft 2 br 1 ba! on a slab for cheap foundation costs too.
Guess my parents were looking to build a vacation home at one time...oh well..never got that done.
We will see what is what..
Happy sleeping to those who can..
Mornin' everyone!
Zoe, I'll have the #2 Special this morning, over easy eggs, bacon, home fries, and a double order of the sour dough taost with my dark roast coffee. Thank you Ma'am.
Currently 80°F outside with a high around 88°F later this afternoon. I slept in this morning. Think I needed it. Managed to get up so that Blackie's insulin wasn't too late though. Looking at my calendar I have absolutely no meetings going on this week! Yes!!!!! Might actually be able to get some things done around here.
I will be heading over to the Amish Country Furniture store to possibly buy one more peice of furniture to put along the South Wall of the living room. I'm hoping I can find something that will fit and match the items I already bought.... If so I should be able to bring it home in the PiP. I do need to go grocery shopping today. ran out of half-n-half this morning. Got to have that for my coffee you know.
catch you all later!
Mornin' All!
Flo coffee and oatmeal please.
Sorry to hear of some folks health woes. I hope everyone under the weather or not quite right begins to feel more themselves ASAP.
Whew its another warm one out there fellas! The haze is already settling over the hills and into the valleys and the sun isn't even fully awake yet. The grass is finally starting to take on that summer greenish-brown color.
After catching up on chores yesterday I was able to run my new Kato Amtrak Phase III Superliners. Boy did they run smooth and true! I just sat back and watched them traverse my layout with a big smile on my face (THATS what its all about though isn't it Gents). Now I need a Kato F40PH in the Amtrak Phase III scheme to haul them around to be really proper (my Santa Fe EMD F3A-B just looks too odd).
Well, have a GREAT day all!
Happy modeling!
Don
Today's word:
Morning guys
ken I feel you as I have recently gone through that. drink lots of water, lots of water. also try eating cereals that are high in fibre and eating fruits like raspberries and leafy greens. Should get that stalled loco moving for ya :p
V8Vega Sun. 91 Tue. 93 and wed. Thur. 101 and humid because there is a tiny chance of rain. It won't rain. I always thought Crosby Stills and Stash were singing about drugs, not coffee. They were famous for their drug taking capability along with the other rock and roll singers of the time. I assumed that drugs were redily avalable at Marrekesh or there was a drug called Marrekesh.

Consider the era.....and lifestyle(s) of the time......Nonetheless...a GREAT song, IMHO!!:)
May your freight ALWAYS roll smoothly...and ON TIME!!
I woke up to a rather gray day. Summer seems to have disappeared and there is already a smell of Fall in the air. I do hope Summer returns, but, please, not as hot as we had at the beginning of this month.
Ken - take car, buddy! I hope you´ll be feeling better today!
Let me take you to Germany´s southernmost museum railroad today. It´s a short branchline, which was turned into a museum line 30 years ago.
The museum train is pulled by a Prussian class T 3 0-6-0, once the standard engine of many a branchline throughout Germany. First built in 1882, it soon proved to be a successful design, ordered not only by the Royal Prussian State Railway, but also by many a private line.. Out of the over 1,300 locos built, only 14 survived, out of which only 3 are in operating condition.
I ran across this: Elderspeak code broken:

Sorry, but I have to brag for a moment. My youngest, now 21 years-old, was a struggle to raise. Saying it was a challenge during her teenage years would be an understatement. Fast forward to this year. Right now, she is in Los Angeles for the Special Olympics World Games, not as a spectator, but as a coach. For the first time, the Special Olympics has added cheer-leading squads from around the country to cheer at the various events. These squads are made up of the intellectually-disabled and their non-disabled partners. My daughter is the coach of the squad from Flagstaff, Arizona. The squad had to learn a standard set of routines before the games so they could cheer with the other squads. Today they cheered at the handball championships. This is one broad papa.
