Ray - I came across this product the other day, and immeadiately thought of you. I know it's too late for your era, but maybe you might want to see it anyway. Of all the trucking companies in this country, wonder how they picked this one. Now that I think about it, I wonder how many folks would even know where it's at.

"I am a huge American Civil War buff and Gettysburg is one of my favorite Civil War sites. I love taking small sections of the battlefield and really stuyding it and hiking it. Ten years of coming here and I never tire of it."

My late wifes distant relative General Garnett in Picketts division was killed on the battlefield at the head of the charge. It is reported that he took a yankee grapeshot through the mid section. He was very ill and had an injured leg and road a horse into battle vs marching with his troops it was sure to draw fire.  He knew he was going to get killed that day. I cannot imagine the courage to take that field that day. Just about everyone in Pickets Division knew they were walking into a slaughter. Some even pinned their names on their clothes. Picket never forgave Lee for that day.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a large bowl of Heritage Flakes ™ Organic cereal with a handfull of fresh NJ Blueberries, a packet of Stevia, and skim milk please.  Oh yes, a large pot of Seneca Lake Roast fair traded, organic coffee to keep my R&GV RR mug full for the rest of the morning would be great.

We are having a major large spill of Solar Energy today here in the Finger Lakes Region of NYS.  current temperature is 73°F with a high around 78°F this afternoon.  In otherwords a beautiful day!

Turns out the sofa and chair didn't get delivered yesterday.  They were going to deliver it late afternoon yesterday and when I called they asked about 1PM...  Silly me, I thought they meant 1PM yesterday.  He meant 1PM today!  So I should be able to sit out in the living room on brand new furniture tonight.  Then I can finish moving other items out there around where the Sofa/Chair will be set.  Next thing will be to move and set up the 100 Gal. Aquarium.  Hoping that by the end of next week I will have it back up and ready for fish.

PiP got its 30,000 mile service yesterday at the dealership.  They give a "free" charge while I am there.  The 'new' service guy I signed in with said this was the first Plug In Prius he had seen (they have sold several I know) and had a bunch of questions about the car for me.  He wanted to know what kind of gas milage I was getting.  Should have seen his face when I told him that over the life of the car I have averaged 75mpg on it.  LOL  The mechanic just grinned and nodded his head.

Dropped off some paperwork to my sister for her next trip, and hung around until it was time to go to the Boy Scout Committee meeting.  Troop is planning a 2 day trip to "Enchanted Forest Water Safari" in August.  Wish I could go with them.... but I am way too busy.

Guess what just arrived?  Two hours early!  Photos this evening I hope.  The living room will be very comefy and inviting.

Ulrich, Actually had the time to watch the morning video today.  NICE!

Have lots of STUFF to do today so I best get moving.  Have a great day!

I'm having a lousy morning today. It rained this morning and had to wait for it stopped so I could walk this dog. The sun was shining off and on thru the clouds, making it twice as hot for a decent walk. Then I say "sidewalks only" means sidewalks only not walking in dirt, mud, and rain. This walk was doomed from the beginning.

Good morning .

Don .... I like the Gettysburg depot photo .

I returned from Cincinnati last evening. ... Shelley stayed there with the grandkids, and I will go back to get her in a few days.

On the way to Cincinnati we have stopped in the past (not this time) in LaGrange KY where CSX runs its through trains down middle of Main Street.

Here is a photo I took a couple of years ago from a nice little restaurant there. You can see the trainling unit of a CSX freight train.

I took the photo from our table inside. As you can see they have outdoor tables available.

Good Morning Diners,

Flo, I'll have a gigante cup of coffee with boo coo cream, please.

If you remember in our last thrilling episode...I posted about how I missed seeing the head end of a CN train.  Well, on my way to work, I went over the top of the hill, and lo and behold the crossing gates were down and flashing.  There was a pickup in front of me, but I got second in line view.  I rushed down, stopped, put on the parking brake and relaxed to watch the show.  Nice!

I hope everyone is OK and safe.

I shall be off ealry this morning {but later than now} to the agency who helps those with disabilities to acquire a part  part time job. It can still take a while, as I will have to take some remedial courses to bone up on certian skills, but at least they have those services.

Then I have to work on getting the snowblower out of the shed for my fahter, he "wants it before he needs it". LOL It's a monster!

I don't know how much help I will be to MOH in doing that as my back has not recovered, and i now have a pinched nerver back there..it radiates to the back of my R leg, so i have to be careful about bending etc.

so, that is my plan for today.....

Hope yours goes well....

 Evening Dinners

 Flo, Beer please.

Today Was A Pain In The Caboose Day! It started when Sue and I left the house at the same time but in differnt cars! She could not get the key to turn and was freaking out! Turns she was using the wrong car key again!

She finally figured that out and was to follow me to our bank. Bank teller was real slow and I had to waite 10 minutes to get to me. In the mean time I was wondering where is Sue (My Wife). I saw her in my rear view mirror at one point.  She finally showed up as I was ready to drive back to see what happened. She stopped and got gas so no problem.

Next I got stuck behind a dump truck, next the slowest diver I see in sometime and caught all most all the traffic lights that I normally make. I had to stop at the company bank and it was slow again. Store did not get open till 10 mintues late.

Soon as I pulled up and still in the car, I had a customer. I hate having one as soon as get there. Then another one while I was helping the first one. I had 5 coustmers today and all 5 bought, but for small stuff and had a mer $609.00 in sales. To top things off, seems one of out Venders make a under sizes King Mattress and the coustmer is not happy!

UP 831 Yes, I like B&O. My grandfather house over looked the B&O yard in Washingtion Ind.

YGW I will do my best to take the needed photos and give you a call as well. But, I know I am screwed.

Good late afternoon all,

Flo something tall and cold...with ice...if you please.

Hope all are well and in good spirits.

The wife and I are out on a little few days excursion to one of our favorite towns, Gettysburg PA. I am a huge American Civil War buff and Gettysburg is one of my favorite Civil War sites. I love taking small sections of the battlefield and really stuyding it and hiking it. Ten years of coming here and I never tire of it.

Lots of good train sites to see for us railfans too.

Well fellas I am getting the "time to go look" from the better half. We have reservations at one of our favorite eating spots. Take care!

Galaxy wrote "no, I have not seen/ do not want to see the video, but talking about it here MIGHT be considered POLITICAL."

I am not sure I agree with that Galaxy. People talk about someone getting killed in here, cars, cats/dogs .....in this video high ranking planned parent hood officials haggle over how much to charge for baby body parts and how to kill them in such a manor as not to damage the babies parts so they can sell them for $75 to $100 a piece. - thats not political.

Now if I were to say "the Democratic party or Obama recieves a lot of money from Planned parent hood" for example. That would be political. But I am not saying that just using it as an example.

Oh and trust me you dont want to see the video. It is absolutely horifying that anyone would haggle over baby parts or how to murder them so they can "salvage" as many baby parts for sale as they can. No mention of teh motehrs safety. Again going back to your CS Lewis qoute what people will do to children they will do to adults. Pretty scary stuff.

Afternoon folks!

Chloe, a tall glass of lemonade would be great right now.

Currently 73°F outside under bright sun.  High may get up to 76°F later.  Nice breeze out there....  All told another nice day around these parts.

I'm sitting here waiting for my new furniture to arrive.  They promised they would arrive at 1PM as I have to be in Canandaigua for the PiP to get its 30,000 mile service at 2PM.  Then I will hang out around town until the Troop Committee meeting (also in Canandaigua) at 6PM.  Have to drop off a check at the Back there (MLK Donation) and also stop at my sisters house with a printout of the airline stuff for her next trip to the "Very Far" in October.

Watched another W. C. Fields Film last night, "My Little Chicadee" with Mae West.

Can't wait to get all the "STUFF" back in the living room and actually have a chance to clean the rest of the house.

Later!

My sunglasses broke yesterday or a few days ago, I didn't notice it until then. Anyway I went to Wal-Mart and another pair of glasses that closely resembles my old ones.

While I was at the store to try to buy something else to go with my new glasses. I was looking at junk food (candy, brownies, ice cream) but I couldn't do it. It's probably to much money or wasting money that isn't spent on trains.

Lion, the clearances on my subway tunnels are so tight that none of my locomotives can run through them.  Likewise, the platforms come very close to the cars to keep the passengers safe.  When I run my CMX car down below, I MU together two powered subway cars to pull them.

It's been very hot here the last few days, but we're catching a break right now.  It felt so good to walk into the rink last night.  The cold air revived my whole withering body.  I didn't play particularly well, and neither did my defense, but as always we had a good time despite the blowout score.  We usually hang around outside for a few beers, but last night it was so hot that we hung around inside the nice, cool rink.

A very nice day out already, a break from the heat and humidity and rain. I am off today so have to cut the grass here and at my parents place. I hope I'm back around 1 so I can get out and shoot some pucks around.  Also have some laundry to get too. I will probably go out around 8:30 and pull some weeds before starting up the lawnmower. I was able to change the oil in the mower last week and clean the air filter so is running great, I need to get a new blade soon though.

Good Morning Diners,

Flo, I'll have my usual extra large cup of coffee with lots of cream, please.

Not much happening here this week.  A quiet week, and that can be a good thing.

Ken: Somehow I get the impression that you like B&O EM-1's.

Big SmileBig Smile

Last week I was fortunate enough to catch the last 7 or8 cars of a CN freight.  Too bad I missed the head end.

Pin another thread, someone brought up Model Trains.  Boy does that bring back memories.  I still have all of mine from Jan '60 to its demise.  Don't look at them much because they're pretty beaten up, but sometimes a nostalgia trip is nice, not to mention that there is still good info in them.

Galaxy: I have a quote similar to one you just posted which goes, "Character is what you do in the dark." -Stephen Flurry

Well, enough aimless rambling.  Gotta go to work.

I hope everyone is OK and safe.

Today's word:

Cerberus

PRONUNCIATION:
(SUHR-buhr-uhs) http://wordsmith.org/words/cerberus.mp3

MEANING:
noun: A powerful, hostile guard.

ETYMOLOGY:
From Latin, from Greek Kerberos. Earliest documented use: 1386.

NOTES:
Cerberus (also Kerberos) was the three-headed dog that guarded the entrance to Hades, the infernal region in classical mythology. Ancient Greeks and Romans used to put a slice of cake in the hands of their dead to help pacify Cerberus on the way. This custom gave rise to the idiom “to give a sop to Cerberus” meaning to give a bribe to quiet a troublesome person.
Cancerbero (from Spanish can: dog) is one of the Spanish terms for a goalkeeper in fútbol (football). Kerberos is the name given to an authentication protocol for computer networks.

USAGE:

Some of the composer’s oldest friends grumbled among themselves that they no longer had direct access to him but were constantly running up against this young Cerberus, who answered the phone, read all Stravinsky’s letters, and organized his diary.
