Mornin' everyone!
Zoe, I'll have a bowl of Heritage Flakes Organic cereal with skim milk and a bunch of fresh blueberries to go along with a pot of Seneca Lake Blend dark roast coffee this morning.
Currently 65°F outside with some bright sunshine to start the day. Weather people say clouds will stop by later this morning though. The high will be 78°F sometime this afternoon. I think it will be a good day to get some things done outside...
Gary, my deepest condolences on your wife's passing. You and your family will be in my prayers! Good to see you back in the diner. Don't be a stranger. There are a lot of caring people in here who can help support you through this time. Been there myself......
Last night I rolled over in bed about 12:30AM onto my right shoulder. The one that has been hurting. I felt something go "POP!" Didn't hurt so I fell back asleep. Got up this morning and for the first time in weeks my shoulder doesn't ache.... must have given myself an "adjustment" as the chiropractors say. Had the same thing happen back about 20 years ago when the same shoulder was giving me trouble. I was laoding large rounds of firwood onto my pick up truck out at a friends house when the shoujlder popped. Talked to a chiropractor friend at church, who nodded his head and said, "you just gave yourself an adjustment". Next time the shoulder is bothering me I'll make an appointment with him.....
No sign of the contractor or my son yet, so I guess I will get to mowing the lawn.
Have a great day!

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.
Bama .... Good to see you !
Glad to hear your children are doing well..... Yes, kids grow fast. It is amazing how fast time passes. Good to see you don't waste time. .... Regarding Jeffrey, we continue to be saddened about his passing and miss his posts. Now, we worry about Ulrich, and the hard part is none of us has heard anything about what happened. ..... I still go to Alabama to see family occassionally. Not much because there are other family memebrs in other locations.
Speaking of time passing ..... Hard to beleive but our oldest granddaughter had her 14th birthday yesterday.
Weighmaster Gary ... Good seeing you here again .... BUT I'm so sorry to learn about your wife's passing. Let us know if there is anything we can do.
Ray .... The new living room looks terrific. I like the Amish furniture, too.
....
Regarding my model railroad, I am still weathering freight cars. Now, all of my coal hopper cars on the layout are weathered. I'm working on ore cars now, and I only have three left to complete. Next, I have a few box cars to weather.
Happy Model Railroading.

EVERYWHERE LOST; WE HUSTLE OUR CABOOSE FOR YOU
Good morning all. Flo, I'll have an order of biscuits and gravy with a side of bacon and a tall glass of milk to wash it down.
Gary (weighmaster) my sincerest condolences and prayers to you on the passing of your wife.
To fill everyone in on what's been going on in my life, I've been w**king, (at least I assume that is still a four-letter word here), for Goodyear as an auto mechanic for the past 2.5 years now. I've also been running a separate business as a mobile auto technician. My mobile business has been rather up and down, but I am happy to say that I've recently gained access to a building that I can put a true auto shop in. As of right now, it is being renovated (electrical was horribly out of date and nowhere near up to code). My overall plans with it is to have everything needed to open the place up as my own within 5 years. My kiddos have been all growing like weeds, Heather (my oldest) has been playing soccer in fall and softball in the spring. Mikayla (the 5 year old) also plays skccer, but has no desire at all for softball. Michael (my 3 year old) will hopefully be starting soccer this fall and he's been otherwise terrorizing his sisters. Finally, Harmony (the 18 month old) is toddling around the house and getting into everything.
Welp, that's about it here in my neck of the woods, I've gotta run to go earn that paycheck now. Later taters

Good Morning Diners,
Flo, I'll have my usual ginormous cup of coffee with cream abundanza, please.
Weighmaster: I'm saddened to hear of your wife's passing. I hope you can find comfort in her memory.
Galaxy must be able to get some sleep as of late. He usually posts at ridiculous AM. That's a good thing.
Ken: I can only assume that you didn't win the lottery, because if you actually had, I don't think you'd be telling everyone without advice from counsel.
Bamacsx83: welcome back. Welcome back to Weighmaster, too.
i don't have anything exciting to report either train wise or otherwise. Just wishing everyone a great day.
Those little emoticons are still kind of neat if not overdone.
i hope everyone is OK and safe.

As some of you may know, my wife Kathy has dealt for years with a number of health issues, and has been homebound and mostly bedbound for the last seven. Sunday afternoon she had great difficulty breathing, and was transported to our local hospital, less than two miles away. She suffered cardiac arrest on the way, but was brought back by one of the paramedics. Another episode occurred in the ER, with 15 minutes of CPR being done.
A couple hours later she was sent to Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Miineapolis and put into cool down for 24 hours to preserve brain and organ function. We learned after the rewarming of her body that her brain function had become severely limited, and that her best hope was to remain in a vegatative state, which she did not want.
Life support was removed yesterday around 12:30 pm, and she left to join her Lord at 3:00.
Gary
Ken,
In my former working life I was a scale man for a major roofing company. Just seemed to fit at the time. More news from today, but I'll wait and post it tomorrow.
Evening Dinners
Flo, Please and a round for the house.
Someone in IL just won $253,000,000 with Mega Million's, want to guess who it was?
Well guess yet? I am trying my self. But I did win $2.00, every little bit helps.
Gary Thank you fo the tip, if I cannot get done with the CLR. By the way, why do you call your self Weightmaster? Are you in the Air Forces?
Off to the VA Hospital I go Thursday. I need my blood work done, chest X-Ray and have my right foot looked at. My right foot put me in the hospital about 2.5 years ago while I was working for NTB. Had a callauis turned into a foot ulichet and all most lost part of my foot like Jeffery did. I have been on my feet way more thies year than in the past year. It was mainly to get the store away from Dave. It took some time and foot work to turn back 5 years of Dave control!
Foot looks a little gross, but not as bad as last time. I hope new shoes and a round of some meds will do the trick.
Train Front Had to oil the PK2 B&O SD 7 and 9 tonight. They seemed to like it and are running a little faster at the same speed step.

Good Evening
It certainly has been slow in the Diner lately as many regulars no longer seem to post. While I wouldn't call myself a regular, I do try to pop in from time to time. I agree with others in that I often wonder what has happened to some former diners such as Tom in PA and several others. Hopefully they are well but just no longer want to post.
Well we were supposed to get a lot of rain yesterday and last night to the point where the weather office issued a 'special statement' to that effect. Guess what, not a drop. Some times I wonder why I even read the forecasts.
We are busy in planting mode and only have about another 50 pots left to go. I suppose it keeps me out of mischief but I really just fetch and carry as my wife is in charge of the actual planting and purchase of same. I did manage to wash the car today so I did do something.
I have finished a PK2 50' box car kit and am starting on a second one. I bought them at the train show last year for $4 each. I really don't need any more CNR box cars but then again they are 50 foot Automobile cars and they do build into a nice model. I have a couple of Red Caboose kits as well and may start them. I just can't seem to stop snipping off plastic bits from sprues with that terrific sprue cutter I bought a while ago.
Well time to watch another episode of Fyole's War. We just bought Series 8 and are really enjoying them. We have all 8 series and sadly there won't be any more.

Mornin' everyone,
Zoe, just need a refill for my coffee. Yes, Seneca Lake Blend Dark Raost.... Thank you Ma'am.
All but one of the oak boards have now gotten their second coat of polyurethane. The last one has some grain lifting in places so I want to wait until the others have dried a bit before I create any dust down there when sanding it.... They look great I think. Contractor hasn't shown up yet today. He may be finishing the outside job he needed to get done.
Today is supposed to be sunny.... When I got up there was some fog outside but that has now burned off. Should be a good day for making electricity.
So Galaxy, what have you been doing to get all the aches and pains? Ah,never mind, I don't really need to know and Vinnie doesn't either.... LOL
Going to try to start the last raised bed garden today. It will just be a circle of the stone blocks from the old garden by the side of the house. Really need to get the garden in. Getting late around here to put one in.
Still dealling with all the stuff from the convention that conveniently got loaded ionto my car. It is amazing how much stuff you can oput in a PiP (Plug in Prius)! It was quite full on the way home from the convention.
Catch you all later!
I got u Late this morning, BOTH hips and BOTH KNEES complianing loudly, not to mention my usual back complaints.
Went overe finances, and we are broke. dead broke. deader broke than we could be. SO we have two summer trips to take, but THAT iis Covered by a vacation fund already set up. We have old debt barely going away that is from when MOH was un and under employed.
so penny pinching is a must.
ULRICH: have not heard form the external message I sent. so don't know what is up with him
later.
Flo, I'll have my usual oil drum sized coffee with mass quantities of cream, please.
Ray: Looks like some nice furniture you have there. I'm sure you'll get many years of use out of it.
Dennis: Oregon is a beautiful state. One year, MOH and I flew into Seattle, drove down through the Willamette valley to Crescent City, and went back up along the coast hwy to Long Beach, WA. The Oregon Coast is just gorgeous. Shhhhh! Don't tell anybody, especially Californians. The locals know what they have and they want to keep it that way.
Well, off to work.
Hope everyone is OK and safe.
I should have said 1 part acid to 3-10 parts water.
[quote user="cudaken"]
Flo, Beer please
Pretty boring day at work, no word from Dave so I guess at this point I am off?
Cleaning the bathtube. I had very hard water (now soften) and have major calcium and lime deposits. They are so thick they will catch my finger nail when I run my nails on them. Looks like a old sink you see in a run down gas station.
I am using CLR and slowely making head way, it now just nasty looking. I have only spent 20 minutes on it so far after I get home from work. Tonight I soaked some towel paper with CLR and stuck it to one of the worst spots for 4 minutes and it seemed to help a little. I am using a sponge with a scrubbing pad and the going is slow. Does anyone have some tip's?
Later, Ken
Way back when, working in plant sanitation, we used a 99% phosphoric acid cut to one gallon per 50 gallons. Now, at home, I use Stone Solv, bought by the gallon at Fleet Farm. Other farm supply outfits will have it or a comparable. It's about 56%, and needs to be diluted. I usually use it diluted 1 part to 3-10 parts. I think it works better than CLR (my opinion only). Last I bought was several years ago, but cost should still be under $10. The intended purpose of the product is to cut scale and deposits from milk piping in dairy barns.
Evenin' folks!
Janie, a cup of decaf would fit the bill right now....
I managed to get the hanging baskets on the side frience palnted with petunias this evening, and all but 4 of the oak boards have now gotten the finish coat of polyurethane. I woujld have finished them but the 4 left were still a bit tacky so I will get them finished tomorrow morning. Also got the grocery shopping done and made a run downtown to get my coffee (yep, dark roast Senca Lake Blend Organic and my Marrakesh Express Dark Roast Organic) and a few other items at Mother Earth Natural Foods. Then headed over to Staples to pick up a couple items I had shipped to the store.
Got a few photos of the new paint job in the Living room. Still some spots to finish up (he did some plastering of holes from where th old electric heaters were removed) but the big thing left to do is finish the oak trim. That will probably be a couple days work.
Plastic is still down to protect the rug so the rug color is not accurate. My son sent me a few iPhone photos he took when we were shopping yesterday. This is the couch and chair I ordered. The one I will get is a lighter color but the same model. Very comfortable (which is what I really care about....).
Some old guy was sitting on it when my son took the photo.... Looks familiar, but I can't quite place him.... Hmmmm....
These are the entertainment center and the one of the two hutches I bought at the Amish Store.
No the candles don't come with it.
Hope you all have a great night. Keeping Ulrich in my prayers!
Good evening diners. A cup of hot tea would hit the spot. Very cool day for June weather wise in SE Ohio. Patched the sidewalk where the new rain gutter drain crosses the sidewalk. Now I can clean up the broken up concrete and then finish trenching the second half of the drain. At least the work is a good way to burn calories.
Mr. Beasley congratulation for your weight control program. I seem to stay the same weight year after year but really should talk off about 15 lbs.
Time to head for the basement and spike down more of the track around the no. 4 wye curgently under construction.
Jim
Afternoon folks,
Chloe, a glass of lemonade to tide me over to supper would be nice, thank you.
The sun has decided to put in an appearance at the moment.... Nice to see it again. I may take advantage of the sun and the cool weather to go plant the petunias I bought a couple days ago into the hanging baskets I have by the fence.
Jeremy, as Garry said. A root canal is really not that big a thing today. I have had 5 so far. My dentists have been good it numbing the area with a topical anisthesetic before even giving me the shot for them. A whole lot better than when I was a kid and the butcher of a dentist my father made us go to didn't believe in novacain! "If you took better care of your teeth you wouldn't have a cavity, don't be a little wimp! What, numb it? Oh for crying out loud!" The shot really did hurt more than the drilling would without it. He made sure of that! Don't worry, today it is nothing.
Really didn't accomnplish much this afternoon.... Better get back to w*rk.
Root canal? had several...nothing to it, I they numb you well...
ULRICH:I have a way of contacting him externally..so I did,,even if he can't maybe Petra with limited English can answer me.
dunno.
MOH's pulld out back musccles are still a problem, and i have managed to pull a prominent muscle in my neck, along with hte rain causeing MY back to be out...
I am hobbling around, so is MOH..
sleep is comfprt for us now.
so
i goto bed soon,
later
Good afternoon.
Jeremy ... A root canal is a minor precedure, and you will do fine.
Still no word from Ulrich ? .... Getting worried about him.
...............
What is the ratio of an igloo's circumference to its diameter ? ...
Answer: ... Eskimo Pi
Thanks Mr B
was going to work on the railroad this afternoon but not really in the mood now, probably won't be until this tooth is fixed. I can't really put things out of my mind
Well my dad is officially retired. He's been talking about moving to Wisconsin to be with his brother and work for him at the funeral home. He also plans on doing some fishing and hunting.
Train News: I just bought the MRI Conrail historical book, and some telephone poles.
Amtrak America, 1971-Present.
JeremyBhave any of you fellas had a root canal before.
I've had a few of them. My best advice is to find a female endodontist to do it. Women have smaller hands and fingers, and it just goes easier. The worst one I had was done by a large guy with huge hands. My mouth just doesn't open up wide enough for that.
The rest were done by Dr. Eliza, who had a much more delicate touch. She looked nicer and smelled better, too.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
Thanks ray
im back, I have to have a root canal next week on it.
he says that I won't feel any pain aside from when he injects the freezing. that's the part I hate the most.
have any of you fellas had a root canal before. I could have it pulled but he said the gap would be quite large.
Afternoon folks!
Chloe, I'll have the Rueben Sandwitch and a decaf for lunch today. thank you Ma'am!
I was going to get here with a post around 9:30AM today... Other things got in the way. I have the first coat of Polyurethane on all the last 7 oak boards. Will do the final coat tonight after dinner. So everything will be ready for the contractor to finish up the rebuild as soon as he can.
Today is daerk and gray hyere in the Finger lakes Region with some occasional lighter gray periods from time to time.... Sun may make an appearance tomorrow they say.
I need to do some shopping soon and then I will be back to finishing up odds and ends from the convention. HAve a bunch of "thank you's" to write, several piles of magazines and papers to store someplace or dipose of.
Jeremy, hope your visit to the dentist goes well and you get the tooth fixed!
Catch you all later.
Morning guys
Have a dentist apointment at 12:30 to figure out what is going on with this botherosme tooth. Be back in later
Morning, engineers and trainmen.
I missed my exercise yesterday, the first day off in a while now. We have had an extraordinary spell of good weather for bicycling, bad weather for growing grass, and that's allowed me to hop on one of my bikes every day. I suppose I could have bundled up and gone for a walk yesterday, but it was cold, nasty and wet and I just wasn't up for it. Sunday was rainy but warm, so I rode anyway, but in the cold? No thanks. I will have to join a gym in the fall.
I, too, am concerned about Ulrich. His health problems have knocked him off the grid before, though, and he's always come back to us, so I've still got my hopes up.
I'll be playing hockey tonight, and watching tomorrow as the Stanley Cup finals begin.
