Looks like I have some work to do!!!! Serious and quick!!!!
MOH, in ministerial duties, performs weddings too. looks like we have one coming up by October 20th. MOH has been after me for a while to get a new vestments made specifically for weddings. MOH's grand ideas and my abilities to sew it are two of a diferent sort. We have the basics, I still need some more materials {IF MOH accepts and can do the wedding then} to finish the project then to actually get the sewing machine out and GIT'ERDONE.
That's right, My Mother {bless her soul} made sure I knew how to sew! I don't actually LIKE doing it, which is why all my pants are still too long {i need a 28" inseam, many come now 34"} and I have yet to hem them at all. A rolled up "hem" and An ocassional hike up works well, is cheap and doesn't require as much work as marking, cutting, sewing and re-hemming the pants does....
I have the basics of the vestments, and need to get a few yards of finishing material. ANd I have to make a new stole. THAT will have to wait, but should become my new winter hobby. MOH wants a particular kind of one done, and it is a laboriously intense material cutting-sewing machine-sewing workout to perform, but LOOKS quite beautiful when completed. I can still kind of cheat, but takes as much work if not more. I made a vest for the MIL once with that type of quilting pattern on it, and MOH either wants me to adjust and remake the vest to MOH's dimensions as a vestment overlay, or to make the stole in the same pattern. It involves strips of fabric about 4 inches long sewn alternately lengthwise, and from 1/4" wide to 1.5-2" wide widths sewn together staggeredly so you have "waves" of rows of each color/fabric. You sew in a long loop, then cut so the "waves" appear,and the strips appear to "grow" from the 1/4" to the 2" wide within the wave. Its hard to explain, but took me about 35 hours to do the mounting pieces for the front of MIL's vest, Then had to fix the backing for it and sew together. That took more time. I can salvage the mounting pieces, problem is I sewed them on with matching color thread in one of the machine's " automatic fancy stitches", which is the most complex and is triple-stitched with a double needle in a pattern creating diamond boxes of thread. The seam ripping to remove the attaching thread alone is going to take about 5 hours of diligent, fine, almost invisible work! I CANNOT cut the material, only the threads, which are the same color of the thread and the like, if I DO cut the material, I RUIN the whole thing!. since it is sewn in the pattern of two diamond {square but aligned like diamonds} boxes side by side, I cannot just cut one thread and pull it out like normal plain threading would do. I have to take out EACH individual box or set of diamond boxes carefully.
Ugh.

We done got a frost here in the Finger Lakes last night! Got up around 9AM this morning and it was still on the roof tops where the sun can't hit before noontime. Don't know yet how much damage it did, but this is way too early for this area. May spell the end of the sweet corn season several weeks early. Currently 51°F outside with a high of 65 later under nice sunny skies. I thought about lighting the wood stove last night but I didn't get home until close to 10:30 from the Museum meeting last night. By the time Blackie got his medicine it was time to hit the hay.
Have an event for cub scout aged kids today at the Boys and Girls Club here. I get to give the little talk about how much fun it is.... The District Membership Chairperson will do the answering of questions after I run on and on for a few minutes. Similar sessions have been held at the parochial school here in Geneva. So hopefully we will get enough kids to get the unit up and running finally. I also need to get time to sit down with my minister to talk about starting a Venture group at the church.

Friday! The first order of business is to turn the alarm OFF, not just silence it, since it won't be needed for a couple of days. Nice days, nice nights here in New England. Fall is my favorite time of year, weather-wise, although I prefer winter for the skiing.
Ulrich, do you go to the hospital for stuff like that? I would just make an appointment and go to the doctor's office. Hospitals are full of sick people, and it wouldn't be the first time I'd gone to the hospital and come home with an ailment I didn't go in with. Of course, we have different health care systems. You are doing the right thing, though, watching out for yourself on the side effects of the medications. There are a lot of different blood pressure options. The first two the doctor put me on were pretty bad, but the third has been working fine for years.

I am excited tomorrow I am heading down to Richmond to a meet and picking up some M&W stuff tht I bought from an estte sale. I will also get to meet and greet some club members that will be nice. On teh w*k front it is getting crazy busy. The site is 8+ acres big with 49 homes to be built and right now every sqaure foot is covered with earth moving equipment. There is a big push to bet the winter weather and get 4 foundations in and go vertical with two of them. Lot of stress, flared tempers etc....Be glad when the first fdn goes in. Then some of the pressure will be off.

Strange, A mother recently got into trouble for leaving her 6 year old son out to play "by himself" {aka "without supervision"}. My goodness, my mother nad father BOTH sould be serving time in Leavenworth fi the suthorities only knew how many times my parents said "go out and PLAY", of course usually followed by "stay in your own yard". Of course my parents woudl have been jailed and us out in foster care also because we NEVER used seatbelts, child car chairs or the like. We DID uses seatbetls once the law came into being, though. I used to race min cars while a child and teen, so I knew the value of a 6 point harness. Of course we also knew to STAY IN OUR CARS until help came, unlike a recent professional drive who did not. My goodness!

I am having issues with my new meds. Apparently, they don´t do what they are supposed to do. My BP has gone up and my heart rate is way too fast. I am going to monitor that until Monday, if it does not improve, I am going to turn myself in into the hospital.
This seems to be not my day! I just wnated to see my little steamer run, but it stalled after a few moments. One of the screws holding the side rod to the last driver had come off, nearly bending the side rod. I straightened it, put back the screw and now the loco is running smotther than before
Ken - I understand the dimensions you posted are the size of the garage. As you want to park your Roadrunner in it, how much of that garage will be available for your layout?

Train Front Why do the PK2000 SD 7and 9's like to whine so much? I think it was 2 weeks ago I used ATF Dextrion oil to lube them, seemed quiter for awhile. Tonight I placed the B&O's on the RIP track till I lube them again? My Rio Grande PK2000 are on the RIP track for the same reason?
Pulled out the Monon F's and after sitting a year they seem to be pulling fine.

I finally got back on, computer was stalling on getting online, tHe Cable company had to send something to the modem to correct it. Now it seems fine, but for who knows how long? last week the same problem happened, but I had the antivirus folks "clean" the puter. It has been off and on and the computer phone wasn't working so hot either. The retail outlets around here last week had MAJOR problems with their computer systems too. Only one cable company here...Makes ya wonder?
Jeffrey: sounds nice the van runs for you now. Like i siad he did it cause that way you "don't need" the 'treasured truck". If it actgs up come codler wehter, he may just have to do it again, won't he.
Drains: whoever siad to use liquid, we do on occasion, but it is not the best either according to the plumbers, it can only flush down so far. I have some enzime stuff for the drain/sewers that cost $50 for a years supply. Supposed to eat the gunk in the pipes, not cause heat and not eat plastic pipes. Put 1 TBS in warm cup of water and pour down drain when not in use..once for the every first 5 nights, then just once a month. I may make it once a week just cause.
Went into to town for three trips today: 1} grocery store 2} the CU 3} the insurance guy's. Home now gotta figure dinner out of what I bought.
well thatt is about it. Not much more to tell.
Well the van got it's first drive into town since being fixed. I went in, stopped at the bank to check my bank balance, went to Circle K and filled the tank then went and got a small pizza for lunch.

Currently 58°F outside the door here in the Finger Lakes Region. Tonight the low may get down to 36°F.... Hopefully no frost as I still have lots of vegetables growing out back in the raised beds. May light up the wood stove for the first time tonight as soon as I get home from the Museum Meeting in Rochester.
Jeffrey, Funny story about your nephew! Think after all these years he would know better than to challenge you. Over the years teaching Middle School I had several 8th. graders who thought they would take a swing at me. Most of them, I just stared at them and said, "Make the first swing count, son. Cause you ain't gonna get two!" They backed down... Of course I had a "reputation". Way back, a punk kid who weighed in at almost 300lbs. had gotten in a fight in the cafeteria. When I stepped in between them the other kid backed right down. The first kid kept right on coming. I got to use a move I learned in PE class at Eastman Shool. The 300 pounder found himself on his butt on the floor with the wind knocked out of him. You should have seen the look on his face! I then reached out my hand a helped him to his feet. Then the 3 of us went to see the vice-principle. I had no further problems at the Middle School being challenged by students after that...... All I needed to use was "the look". BTW the 300 pounder is now doing 15 to 20 years behind bars for some similar stuff in town.

Just thought I would pop in before heading to work. Its a cool day out but sunny and nice. I work the next three days and then am off for a few as I have some doctors apointments I have. One of them is a stress test and eco cardiogram ( dont think I spelled that right,lol ) I also have to wear a heart monitor for 24 hours on Tuesday. Didnt do much last night aside from watching the ball game and playing NHL 15.

All day today I've been watching American Ninja Warrior on the TV. Suddenly I found myself in competition Upon standing I had fallen and getting up was quite the ordeal. My prosthetic leg had come off and I pulled it out of my pants leg and set it aside. Then I removed the leg cuffs and put them back on. I was tempted to grab the phone and call for help but that to me would be admitting defeat! I wouldn't be doing that! I wrestled myself up onto my knees and knee walked over to my computer chair. Placing my hands side by side on it I straightened my arms and lifted my 227 pounds up onto the chair and claimed my victory!Once I was on the chair I was able to get my leg back on and pull myself up to a standing position. Anybody who thinks that isn't a major workout should try it sometime. I hadn't done that much work since my rock climbing days of climbing El Capitan. Once I had my leg back on I was able to straight leg it to the bedroom. I sometimes wish I could still compete in events like Ninja warrior. Sadly those days are far in the past. Those people are in their world and I'm still stuck here in mine. But I have the satisfaction of knowing I won my competition hands down.Today My nephew and I installed the new radiator in the van then started it and let it run for an hour. The temp gauge never rose above the 'C' on the gauge. The engine now runs very well and has plenty of power. My nephew drove it over to the north side of the circle and punched it and burned the tires. He left two long black marks and quite a bit of tire smoke. It's got some years left in it yet.I told him the idle may have to be increased. His back started to arch up and he tried taking a swing at me. That was the last straw! He got nailed across the back with my cane then his feet were jerked out from under him and he was thrown to the ground. He looked up at his mother an exclaimed, 'Why did you do that!'. He had been warned about trying to hit me.Nothing more tonight. See y'all tomorrow.

Work Read a lot and sold a few things so it was not bad. Made a few extra dollars but nothing to brag about.
Workout Had another pretty good one. Incresed weight on all exercises. Had some strain on the back while curling so I really need to get the weight belt to fit! Dennis gave me a idea when he spoke about the tie down straps. I have my old seat belts from the back seat of the Road Runner. I don't think anyone will be sitting back there again, and there are three sets anyway. About the same sizes of the weight belt. Just need to find some way to join them, pop rivets maybe?
Ulrich Did you see my post I think it was yesterday with the sizes of my garage? If not, let me know and I will post it again.

Good evening Everyone,
Not much happening here in the high desert of eastern Nevada. Just sitting around waiting for the rain to come....which will probably never get here. Currently 86 degrees and 65% relative humidity and partly cloudy.
Had an interesting day at work today. I deliver lunches for Meals on Wheels of our county. I drive 70 miles a day and feed between 35-40 home bound seniors and deliver to our most northern senior center. One of my home bound seniors, who will be 80 here in a week or so, just came back from Las Vegas after having his cancerous kidney removed two weeks ago. So he asks me to get him a few things from the Family Dollar and the grocery store. He gave me a list and the money. I got him the items from Family Dollar and some frozen meals from the grocery, but I wanted to wait until today to get his fresh meat. My boss finds out that I am doing this for him and called him up and started bitching at him for it. I do it of my own free will! Anyway, apparantly I am no longer allowed to get him groceries or anything. My boss and most of the other people in the county can't stand him because he is an old curmudgeon....I get along great with him. I think it is not right that they won't let me get him so groceries, but they do the exact same thing for other people. Heck, I drop off and pick up one womans meds every week. I pick up another womans mail two to three times a week (we have no home delivery out here!) So tomorrow I am going to call out the boss lady and tell her what is good for the goose is good for the gander. If I can't get him groceries, then no one in the county should be getting other things done for them either!

Been a busy day here in the Finger Lakes.... I know, so what else is new. At least I'm not sitting around twidling my thumbs or palying with trains or sumpin' like that...
Started the day (after I got up, showered and had breakfast) with a meeting with the District Executive for the Boy Scouts. He brought over a pile of handouts for Cub Scout aged boys. They will be given out at the "joining event" we will be having at the local Boys and Girls Club in town. He will be visiting the Parocial School on our behalf and there will be a PAWS club event at one of the Schools as well that we will be part of. Then my son showed up and we took my little trailer down to a local tire store to get the annual inspection done (seems to be a lot of that going around). It had two wheels with tread on the tires, all the lights worked, and the hook up to my son's car was all good and proper so it passed with no problem. I also got to chat with the manager of the place. His younger brother was one of my first students when I moved to Geneva. He now is a major entertainer in Las Vegas and has a photo of me directing the 6th. grade chorus the kid was in at the Middle School. I, of course, was directing the bunch and he is the only kid in the shot not watching me..... He points that out in the caption. The guys Professional name is Ron Pass, BTW.
I made up a nice large bunch of stuffed green peppers for supper tonight, and I am now waiting to get online for Skype call for the Region NMRA Board. Our big business meeting for this time of year... We have a lot of stuff to do as we didn't meet at the convention last April. Wrong, just looked at my calendar... The call is next week. Well at least I know my set up will work...

Galaxy: I was just skimming over past posts and I see your having some drain issues. A plumber once told me that the drain cleaner in crystal form is very bad for pipes as it will almost turn to a concrete but said the liquid is usually safe as long as its flushed well. I find now just boiling a pot of water and poring it down keeps things moving well. Our bathroom sink is slow to begin with so I always make sure to run hot water after using soap. I find its the sopa that is mostly the problmes.
Didnt do much today aside from relax and play some video games. I also orderd strat o matic hockey and it is suppose to be here Friday. I get more enjoyment now out of table top sports games then video sports games.
Well off to get some dinner

Good doc visit this morning. Got the dressing on the surgical incision changed and got good look it. There's about twenty stitches starting at the wound where the big toes was and ending just short of the ankle. No deep wound areas. Had a couple of close calls though. I nearly lost my balance going up the front steps to the docs office and I very nearly fell over backward twice inside the building. Gotta go back there Monday. My nephew pulled the radiator out of the van yesterday so he can compare it to the one he found. I hope it matches.
Good morning. It's 71° with 100% humidity and dense fog. The high will be 88° and cloudy with a fair chance of showers and thunderstorms. with Gotta go see the doc again. One day follow-up. Woke up this morning feeling like my van was parked on my left leg. I seriously hurt! I had a quick breakfast then took some Cipro and hydrocodon and now I don't care about the pain. I feel like I'm miles above it. I'm just waiting on my sister. No way am I driving anywhere feeling this good. I usually don't use pain killers at all. Most times I just ignore the pain. So you know it's gotta be INTENSE for me to be using them. For me the sooner we get there the better. I wanna see how much he jacked around with my wound. Be back later!

Janie, just some coffee, please, lunchtime is coming up rapidly and Petra´s cooking up something smelling awfully nice! Speaking of cooking, Petra quite often asks me "what would you like to eat (fill in date)?" I never come up with an idea that moment, so I prepared a kind of table, listing the main ingredient, i.e. potatoes, noodles, rice, etc and branching of to the various kind of dishes which are based on those. This table revealed, that, despite having some 70+ dishes on it, our usual fare consists of "only" 20 different meals. While I am fine with this, Petra was not really happy with it - "we always it the same stuff..." Yes, we do, but I think most families do.

I have got way too much time for bad thoughts. I am having second thoughts on that modular set-up of a switching layout again. The last three layouts I built were switching layouts and frankly, I think I had my fill with them. I don´t want another layout where a loco plus some cars more or less shuttle back and forth. OK, if I build them according to Fremo standards, I could have them integrated into the Fremo meets, but they are only twice a year, out of which I could attend only one (the other one is too far away). That´s not enough. The big questions is how to have continuous running in no space at all ...

well, the plumber came and went. Did his things too.
FIrst he came to do the kitchen drain, he used pressure hose, seems to have worked. That cost $130. He pointed me in the direction of some bio-degrading grundge eating enzime/bacterial stuff. At $50 a can should last all year. So I bought it.
Then I asked about the servicing of the furnace. He showed me a whole row of services offered, but the cheapest was $139. I got a post card from another company offering a 21 point inspection, cleaning and check service for a mere $79. I usually have them do it. I asked if the honored other competitors coupons, so he checked with the company, and sure enough he'd do the furnace for $79. Total bill was $277 and change. already in the budget.
He was QUITE surprised to see the pressure switch and the induced draft motor were replaced. I pointed out so was the igniter. I told him why, but not which of his well known competitors did the over $1k damage to the furnce the first year it was put in by using BATHROOM silicon caulk on the roof to "seal the roof jack {chimney} to the roof". I'll bet he was wondering which one, so I pointed out the obvious: it wasn't his company and it wasn't the company with the coupon! SOme of you may remember my rants about THAT form a couple years ago!
Tonight or tomorrow night is frost night. First of the season. tomorrow high about 62. if it stays sunny, will feel good.
Tomorow I have an appt. Wiht the Mental Health therapist. I feel like calling it off and saying "I don't feel any different", but she is concerned because depression set in about the automobile accident. SPeaking of which I stop by the office of my agent and he should have the application they cliam they sent twice and I maintain I haven't gotten it yet. I said "fax it to my agent I will get it there and fill it out and have them fax it back to you". I got shot down on that routine ONCE already by the insurance company-some dolt who didn't know better onthe other end of the line! SUre, sure, I am in good hands.....we shall see about that.
Gotta file new application for "extra help" for script program, which I will get booted out of now that MOH makes more money, too much now, but they say they have other programs I might get. Either way: 1} the SSD check will go down as they pay the script insurance company now from my check for scripts part D; 2} my cost for the 26 prescriptions is going to go UP 3} I was told by SS on the phone to "find a new script plan to cover the differnces" but NO GUIDANCE on WHERE to find such! everything I try turns up Obamacare, which Is NOT what I want! I don't qualify having Medicare. I am covered til Dec, then I will be in a pickle,.SOme meds have gone to some sort of OTC and I may have to fork over THAT money instead of low-low cost scripts.
I am currently covered until Dec 31, 2014. COme January {actually March if I can get 3 month supplies laid in in Dec.} I will have to decide which meds to take that I can then afford and which I will just have to suffer without. My Doctor{s} will NOT be happy.
Being married has its drawbacks, so does MOH working more of a steady job{s} with more {low, cheap} income! It throws me{us} out of a lot of programs I once used to have.
Paying off a hefty sums of debt between this month and next month, that will help some, but by march with the income tax refund I want all bills down to $5k on the one loan only. That will shave off a cool $9k I hope! If I diligently saving as I have, and get the counting-on B-day and xmas gifts of CASH. That loan only remaining can be paid off over the year next year, and maybe we can finally save some...too, or put all to paying off the debt and retire it sooner.. Its all from when MOH was under employed or Unemployed ansd was denied benefits.
