I'm going to take a wild guess that an 8 coupled steamer includes an 0-8-0, but I could be wrong. I googled the term but got nothing.

LOL, I mistyped on that...  It should have been 4 coupled... AKA X-8-X.  Yep  0-8-0 is fine!

Now back to our regular program:

I didn't intend to kill the momentum of Show Me Something with my request for an FP-45.

So I'll amend my request to any 12-wheeled diesel.

From left to right: Yugoslavian State Railways 2-10-0 Decapod, German Imperial Railway 2-8-2 Mikado, Royal Bavarian Railway 4-6-2 Pacific and Imperial Royal Austrian State Railways 2-6-4 Adriatic (the only steam engine class with this wheel arrangement I know so far).

The same is true of trailing truck wheels, tender wheels, and driver tires.  Mayber the answer is "Tradition".  We might be better off if some traditions would just die off.  Of course, if I were in N scale, that wouldn't stop me from coveting Christian's beautiful M1a.

Will somebody PLEASE tell me the reason for the CHROME-PLATED pilot wheels installed on so many of these "high-dollar" steamers?? Why such "attention to detail" and then throw-in a nice set of SHINY CHROME WHEELS? I know they (can) be easily painted, but WHY? Maybe instead of supplying some extra traction tires with the model, a bottle of paint and a brush might be more in order! I just don't get it.........(refering to the post by ChristianJDavis showing his new Key Imports Pennsy engine)

I don´t know the answer but I TOTALLY agree with you! I´m asking myself the same question since quite some time! I really don´t have any clue what reasons speak for chrome-plated pilot wheels! It looks really bad!

Here is the back of the West Side Diner, and yes Dr Wayne was correct when he said you should weather all of your rails as you never know from what angle you may take a picture. Lesson learned.

Let's see another back of a structure.
