Finished half the yard doing weeds in the front of the house. It's going to take another 3 days to finished up.
I don't why I thought it was going be easy! But all the another times it wasn't. That serves me right. Don't except things to be too easy like finding a job.
I wish all of you guys good luck for the rest of the day and after we'll celebrate.

Good Morning Crew,
Hi Chloe, when time permits, I'll have a double denver with home fries with some gravy and a large chocolate milk,, yeah that's right, your cholestrol special. ( if only I could swallow ).
Good Luck today JEFF, prayers and positive thoughts are with you..
Happy Birthday ULRICH, that pie looks fantastic. Thanks Petra, for all you do for this 58 year old.
GALAXY, you are missed here. Please at least say HI once in a while. positive thoughts are coming your way as well.
Br. ELIAS, that board is great, well done LIONMAN.
Not much planned for the day other than w--k this afternoon. Then two days off.
Very smoky outside the last couple of days. This smoke is drifting down from the North West Territories, where they are having a bad time with forest fires because of the extreme heat they have had all summer.
Well all for now, I must have a couple of jugs of 'ENSURE' via tube, to keep me alive and then a shave, s--t and shower before heading out to work.
Have a great day all, and keep smiling, yeah, that's better

Mr. B ... That is a good overview of the unemployment rate. The number not mentioned much is the count of unemployed people. 9.7 million people were unemployed in the July BLS employment data. That excludes about 2 million people working part time because they were not able to find part time jobs. It also excludes about 10 million people who dropped out of the labor force in the past five years. ... Polticians also like to mess around with the jobs created amounts reported by employers. Some of the polticians say it is good we are creating 200,000 jobs per month. Oh really? .... It would take 100 months of 200,000 jobs created to fill all of the 20 million jobs needed to put all of thsoe people in full time jobs.
Jeff .... Good luck with surgery and medical issues.
I've been busy with mostly non-model-railroad-stuff. However, I did do run trains last evening and also switched freight cars at some industries.
Happy Model Rairloading .

Morning guys
Ken: I sent you a pm a week or so ago letting you know I can point you in the direction of some great bikes sites ( dont know if I can post them here so I can send them by PM if you wish )
I have to go in today guys from 11-7:30, its like that for the next three days. I am still debating on if I want to get those axis and allies games. The thing is I probably wont play them they will just get packed away. Am also looking at maybe getting strat football. I will get more play from that I think as I love strat baseball.
Maybe I will just give it some thought before I decide which one to buy, at the moment im leaning towards football.
I guess I should go water the plants and get something to eat before heading out.
Talk to you guys later on tonight.

Ulrich, our government (in the Bureau of Labor Statistics, as we have an entire agency just for this) has 6 different "unemployment" numbers, U-1 through U-6. For some reason, they've chosen to use the U-3 number as the "official" unemployment number. This isn't "politics," but simply "bureaucracy," as this system has been in place for decades. Our U-3 number only includes people who are "not currently working and actively looking for work." Those who are "discouraged" or "marginally connected to the workforce" (their terms) are not counted in U-3. The official U-3 rate which is usually quoted is currently 6.2%, while the more inclusive U-6 rate is 12.2%. From watching these number go up and down over the past few years, I would have to say that the numbers don't add up, and there are people who aren't being counted at all. The numbers are determined by polling, and have nothing to do with people actually "collecting" unemployment compensation.
I'm still planning to be off their radar by the end of the year. I'm hoping for a "voluntary layoff" which would give me a layoff compensation package, but if it doesn't happen by the end of the year I'm going to pull the plug and just retire.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
Cheers, the Bear

morning all.
Ulrich- glad to see you posting again
Ken- watch out for your wrist.
I am off today, so I may plan to go down to the club layouut to start moving stuff out of the yard-we are supposed to start ballasting the yard this week or so! I also will probably watch some of the BBC's Doctor Who marathon. I also need to run to a store to pick up a spray paint can of flat black. Oh yeah, IF it doesn't rain, I may finish my project of documenting all the old buildings in my town. Oh yeah, the customers at work sometime irritate me sometimes, but I put up with them for the paycheck. Have a great day all

Morning!
I woke up early today and decided to be a grouch for the day! Another year older, but certainly not wiser! It´s my 58th birthday and I don´t feel up to celebrating this occasion. Lots of people from whom I don´t hear a word during the year will call me, extending their congratulations to me for something which just happens, whether I like it or not. Today also marks the official end of my unemployment, not in real life though, just in government statistics. I´ll be moved from the "unemployed, seeking a job" section to the " underemployed" section. There is no difference in the fact behind, but those figures don´t have to be published in the quarterly employment report. The section contains only twice as much people than the official unemployed figures report, so the actual unemployed figure is three times higher. I am drifting into politics, so I´ll better stop here.
The only nice thing the day is offering is that Petra will be making my favorite birthday cake - cherry crumble cake, yummy!
Ken - watch out with that wrist of yours. I got a terrible pain some weeks ago from cutting those 1,300 shingles for the roof of the engine house. I still have to be careful with it not to strain it too much!
Have a nice day!
Good Eveing Dinners
Flo, and T Bone Rare pleases.
Work Front Things back to normal, Paul is being a jerk today. He was nit picking everything Cary (other sales person) and I did! Everything we do is wrong! Like he never makes a mistake! Mr Perfect for got to do the commission report and my check will be short $600.00! I have to just smile after he made a big blunder! I will not need the missing money till the end of the month, plus I want to check his figuers. Last month he was $200.00 low of what mine should have been, this one seems low as well, so much for never making a mistake!
Jeffery While I have no idea what a Gall Blader does, guess I am glad you are getting rid of it! I think?
Todd Glad to see someone reads my post! Well Jemmery does when I said I had a Mountain Bike! Hope to chop and drag out some more Tuesday, I am off again. Just hope I do not have to cut the grass!
Workout Front Had another great Bicept workout! On the arm curles I went 16 reps, 14 Reps, 10 rep's and then 8 reps on the last set. On the revs Arm Curles I had added 2.5 pounds and did 16 reps, 12 reps, 10 reps then 8 and had to cheat a little to get the last one. Need to find a new form arm Exercises, dumb bell wrist curles caused my wrist to hurt. I stopped after 2 sets!
More to type about, but it is just to plain late, it is 10:56 PM.
See you all Tuesday.

Janie, a cup of decaf and a hot fudge sundae for me tonight... Thank you Ma'am!
Been busy doing Stuff all day. Got the Epson Workforce 1100 printer cleaned and up running so I managed to just finish printing the photos I needed to get done. Well, all except one, only because I ran out of photo paper. I will be making a trip to Staples tomorrow so will get some then. The Canon printyer still is doimng weird stuff. Probably needs a new Print Head thingie. Of course that cost almost as much as a new Canon Printer on sale. So I guess I will be getting a new one. I would just go with the Epson except I can't get reliable 3rd. party ink cartridges for it and the OEM ink is pricey!!! I, of course, have 17 ink cartridges sitting here for the old Canon Printer. Luckily these I got for all of $3.50 each... The printer I will be getting uses a different cartridge of course. Nothing new in the size printer I want uses the ones I have in stock. If any of you have a cannon printer that uses PIXMA 225 or 226 ink cartiges send me a PM....
Tom, Tell your wife, Happy Birthday from Me. 75 is a real milestone for her... Is she now going to start counting backwards every year? That is what my sister started to do at 70.....
Got the lawn mowed today. All of it! It was very high, close to 6" in places. I changed from Mulching mode to just back discharge it out on the ground mode after seeing how little the first battery charge was going to get done. Mulching takes a lot more power than just cutting the grass. Did the whole lawn on three charges (I have two batteries, so it is a quick change and plug in the drained one to charge). Tomorrow I need to trim around stuff.
That is just about it for today. Now I'm going to read the paper (Finger Lakes Crimes) and hit the hay for the night. See you all tomorrow!

It's been a busy day here. Started off by going out for breakfast this morning, then grocery shopping & errands. That's pretty much our usual schedule. We got home and I got about 5 loads of laundry done. After a quick shower we hit the road again. First I stopped & got the car washed, then took the wife to a nice restaurant to celebrate her 75th birthday. 2014 has had some significant milestones for her. a 50th Wedding Anniversay in January & todays big 75. Hope that's it for the year, or she will begin to think she is something special. Oh wait... she is.

Good luck on the gall bladder removal Jeff. My wife had hers taken out years ago. I can see your reflection on the chrome camper.
Im still debating If I should order axis and allies 1914. Its the last one I need to complete the whole AA set, actaully I also need the 1941 version also but would want 1914 first.
Looks like no star gazing again tonight! We have a big nasty storm moving through and it thinks it's here to stay. Tomorrow night doesn't look much better. However should I get the chance the best time for a sighting would be RA:15h 16m 11s DEC:-19°, 53' 7". I'm gonna be a bit tied up with appointments for the coming seven days. On 8/21 I have to go see my foot doc in Oakdale on a 2pm appointment. On 8/26 I have an appointment with my primary doc in the morning. On 8/27 I'll be at the local hospital getting my gall bladder removed.Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.
TMarshPretty humid it will be if the sun comes out. If it does I’d just need a bar of soap and save on the water for a shower. Jeff can probably identify with that kinda humidity.
Thanks Ray,
Just about to grab some lunch and head out soon.
Talk to you guys tonight
Mornin' everyone!
Zoe, I'll have a short stack of Blueberry Pancakes with real NYS maple syrup, a couple sausage links, and lots of dark roast coffee for my R&GV RR Mueum Mug please.
Crisp Cool day here in the Finger Lakes today. Much too like Fall though for my liking. Currently 60°F with a high late this afternoon of 72°F. I have to mow lawn today! It has been growing like crazy and has been a week since I mowed it last. Usually this time of year it is dried up and brown with just the weeds sticking up. Not this year... our usual rainfall for the whole month of august is 3". So far in the first half of August we have gotten 3.12" of rain.
I'm having problems with my photo printer... Been doing some funny stuff with the prints. Went to an online site and found some cleaning tactics for the printer. Last night I did the manual cleaning they advised. Haven't pirinted anything yet but will this afternoon. got a mess of cat hair out of the tray where the print heads sit when not being used. Hope that will get things back up and working for me. Have a bunch of photos I need to print....
Todd, I guess all it took to get the locos brought over was a phone call to the CEO of the railroad. We have an excellent working relationship with them as they consider us one of their customers... Anything brought in or moved out by rail they do for us. They also support the museum big time. I think the agreement with the RR for the "Rare Milage" runs is that they get part of the take to pay for their costs for day (Crew, fuel, etc), so bringing them over would be written off as advertising. Still, it was great for them to bring those locos up the line for the day! The LA&L CEO was our speaker at last years banquet of the Museum as well. I do love being out there when they are highballing up or down the line with a string of cars headed by those locos! They put on a real show for our visitors...
Jeremy, hope your nephew heals up well with no problems.
Time to go and get caught up on a long list of things to get done yesterday!
Good morning. 84° with 78% humidity. Lots of clouds and a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms. 95° will be the high.
Havent been in for a few days so have to catch up. MY nephew on Friday night cut his leg pretty bad when playing. He needed 18 stitches to close the cut. I spent the weekend doing yark work and a little bit of nothing. I work today at 1pm. Other then that didnt really do alot.
I got a few projects planned for strat o matic baseball too. Including a couple seasons and also making a baseball field diorama for it. I also had my axis and allies games out, just taking a look at them. Another thing I noticed is I need another bookshelf. The one upstairs is completely full with military history books and all aviable spots in the basement have books on them ( entertainment center, end tables, anywhere I can find a spot, lol

Good morning, all! I'm back from a brief trip to Maine. We watched our daughter compete in a triathlon - swim, bike, run, and she finished second in her age group! (20-24 year old women) She was thrilled with her performance, and so were we. Her boyfriend was a bit disappointed with his, although his fifth-place finish among the 24-30 men wasn't too shabby either. I always tell people that a triathon for me would be swim - ambulance - hearse. A cinderblock swims better than I do.
Mark - I haven't looked at the tax laws lately, but I believe that you can deduct moving expenses on your Federal taxes if you are moving over a specified distance for your job. It's not like getting all your money back, but it can soften the blow. So, keep track of what it costs to move.
Our weather here has been very pleasant - 70s in the daytime and 50s at night. Not much rain, but I'm not trying to grow anything, and what we get seems to be keeping the lawn alive. It may be that the hot part of summer is really over, which is fine with me. I sleep better when neither the AC nor the noisy fan is running.
Good Morning Folks!
it´s a typical Autumn day outside, lots of wind and ra*n! Doing the Monday morning grocery run was no fun!
I am still in a somewhat low mood, being torn between continuing with that On30 layout or giving up on it and change scales down to a more manageable size. One day I have to make up my mind, and for that I have set myself a deadline - when my old brass HOn3 D&RGW T-12 is in working condition. I´ll bite the bullet and invest a few bucks on HOn3 track for testing it.
While surfing the web, I came across a nicely done HOn3 layout. It´s "only" 3 by 6 ft., and, if built in two sections, would fit into the room I have - a very tempting thought!
Here is a pic of it:
... and a little video.
Very tempting!
Well, I am off - there are a few items left on my HD list waiting for me.
Have a great day!
No star gazing tonight. Cloudy and rain. Mars will have to wait. Tuesday or Wednesday might be good. It'll be visible at the following locations those nights.Tuesday: RA: 15 h 16 m 11 s DEC:-19°, 53', 7".Wednesday: RA: 15 h 18 m 25 s DEC:-20°, 1' 43".Time to call it a night here. See y'all tomorrow.
Evening all. I have nothing to contribute except joy seeing my NASCAR driver win his 91st race today, and finishing up a wishlist for walthers. Have a good evening all
Evenin' diners!
Janie, I will have a cup of decaf and some of that raspberry pie you have over on the counter with a dolip of Cool Whip on it...
Ulrich, I have been spoending most all my time on and in Erie Caboose C-254 the last couple days. I did come home last night and spend a couple hours printing Form 19s for use out at the museum today. I was not happy that the onion skin paper never arrived Friday or Saturday, so the forms were printed on standard 20lb paper... Best I could do. I am going to work up a Form 19 for gthe R&GV RR Museum for use in the future. It will be based on the Erie or the NYC ones but have our museum logo...
Now the reason I ordered the pie with Cool Whip is that all the Cool Whip out there is transported by the LA&L RR that runs on the old Erie tracks next to the museum! The corn syrup and other ingredients for it are also shipped on the LA&L. Now the connection is.... It was Diesel Day out at the Museum today. For me to make crew call and the safety meeting I had to get out of bed here around 6:30AM after being up until midnight last night. Anyway, one thing we were pushing to our guests is a "Rare Mileage" excursion Saturday, October 18th. The passenger cars will be our NYC Empire State Express cars and the Motive power for the trips will be the two named Alco Century Locos of the LA&L and will take place on the Livonia, Avon, and Lakeville RR. With that as background My train left In dustry Yard at 9:45AM after safety briefing and brake checks. Went to BOCES Crossing (just down from the New York Museum of Transportation, the other end of the line) and started to set up the things needed at that spot. First group of close to 50 passengers boarded the two trains and we proceeded South to Industry. I look out the window while anwering questions from our passengers just as we come down the Hill Block at Industry, and what is sitting on the mainline right next to the Depot? The two absolutely gorgeous antique ALCO Century Locomotives the LA&L brought up the line and parked out beside the museum for the day... COOL!!! Just awesomely COOL!!!!! I got choked up, I did!
So.... Ulrich, I am still among the living..... Thanks for asking.
Gotta go give Blackie his evening Meds. Later!
Evening Model Railroaders!
Flo, My self and CN Charlie will have a pleases
Work was just a blur today! I have no idea what the store did or what I sold. I helped Nancy quite a bit and my mind is bleeding! God love her (she is 71 and does not look it at all, think there been a few things done) but she buts the D in Ding Bat. She will start a ticket for me to finshes and will just write Mattress, Foundation, Cover and a prices? I will ask her "Nancy, which Mattress"? She will point out out to the 12,000 sq foot show room and say "That one Over There". Yep that helps!
People that lost there house do to fire. Seems they did come in Saturday after all! The talked with the only person I did not tell the Trains are in my car! They did leave a Flyer with a Web Address but no phone number? I will see if I can get hold of them Monday.
See you all Monday
Even though we had some light rain this morning, we headed across the river to see what was happening on CSX. Turns out, not much. 2 trains in 2 hours. 1 auto racks & 1 grain train. At least I think it was. Nothing but covered hoppers.
Decided to try Norfolk Southern, & did a little better there. 8 trains in 2 hours. 1 auto racks, 1 slab train (all gondolas), 3 intermodals, 1 road railer & 2 mixed freights. One of the intermodals had 7 locomotives, which was interesting. I've gotten use to seeing lumber on center beams wrapped in individual packages, but in the last couple of weeks, I've seen them coming thru wrapped like this. Cheaper I suppose.
Since I got back into model railroading & railfanning, 2 things I hear over & over are "It's your railroad" & never say "you won't see that on a real railroad." Those really are good words of advice. The last train show I went to, a guy was sort of berating a club member because they had 1 loaded coal hopper on a mixed freight. He kept saying you would never see that on a class 1 railroad. Well, today I saw 1 loaded coal hopper on a 150+ car mixed freight. My first thought was some of these experts should keep their opinions to themselves.
Had a nice dinner this evening. A chuck roast, mashed potatos, sweet peas, chocolate pudding, & all washed down with a nice bottle of Riesling from Seneca Lake. All in all, a very nice weekend. Don't know what I'll get into this week, but I hope I get that list of chores shortened up somewhat. Getting tired of just seeing it grow & grow & grow.
Well, have a nice week, & stay safe.
Garry,
I have a MRC Express and have bought the new version of that system. I like the MRC throttles and find their system very easy to use.
