Jeffrey, I bet you'll have the old camera up and running in a jiffy! How's the foot healing up? Keeping you in my thoughts for good healing and better mobility.

The camera is already fixed and in use. My foot is healing up just fine.

 Evening Dinners

 Flo, Beer Please

Jemery Sorry to hear about your wifes Grand Mother. Never easy to lose someone even if you know it is coming.

Gary Glad your BIL is going to recover. Yes

New MIA's. I have not seen Galaxy or Ulrich for a few days at the dinner, hope there is nothing wrong!

Work Front Well Paul was being a little bit of a cabosse today but not awfull to the point I was ready to walk out. Just being Nick Picky. Thought the telling the customer we where closed was going to over looked. Wrong! Around 2:00 PM Marv asked me to come into his offices with Paul for a stand up meeting.

Marv said I up set Nancy about two things Sunday.

1 I corrected her while she was talking with a customer. After she asked me to fill out the ticket she kept talking and said the Mattress they where buying was made by Spring Air. Hmm  Well she was wrong, while made in the same factory it is made has the Name Bemco on the mattress, not Spring Air. That could cause a problem when they got the mattress home. I did keep my mouth shut and said yes sir. I wonder if Marvin would have been up set if he knew I corrected her on the prices as well? She told them it was $940.00 but then WROTE ON THE TICKET $850.00? I corrcted her on that as well. Bet he would not be up set over that correction.  Smile, Wink & Grin

2 Nancy was up set that I sent the customer away 45 minutes after we closed! Now, I was not shocked by the fact Marv would be up set about that. He is the owner and any time money changes hand in his store, he makes something. If I was the owner, I would feel the same way! What Pissed Me Off was Nancy had no idea what happened! She was with a coustmer at the time and would have never knowen! It was Paul hidding behinde Nancy Skirt that told Marv! Most verbal bullies are wimps, so leaving out details does not surpise me. I again said yes sir, I will never do it again! I do wonder if Marvi knew was only by Paul leaving while we had coustomers? Whistling Like I said, I kept my mouth shut.

On a scale of Cabosse Chewing, I would rate this one .25 out of 10. I all so counted by have a good day to day! Am I worried about getting fired? Not really. I have the companys highest profit percent and sell more higher profit mattress than anyone elas in the company as far as I know.

Paul wants to leave on time as much as the rest of us. As a little payback to night I had a hard to close customer. Tood me 2 hours to get the deal and we got out late! He looked mad, but I did my job and got the deal!

Workout Front Sad With getting out late, and then having to walk Sparkie The Rocket Dog I did not make it out to the garage till 9:45 PM. Kind of late to start a workout. With me working in the St Charles store most of the time, guess I need to start working out before work.

See you all Tuesday, grass cutting day!

Knock, knock....  Hello...  Anybody here?  Oh Zoe!  Glad the wait staff is here at least.

I'll have a short stack of blueberry pancakes to start the day.  don't forget the real NYS Maple Syrup for that and my cup of dark roast coffee to wash it all down.

I have been dealing with convention stuff so far this morning.  The Lakeshores Division of the NMRA will be hosting/running/responsible for next years regional convention.  We have been waiting to hear if the date we chose will work at RIT...  Woke up to an email from the club president at RIT telling me there is already something on the calendar for the building we need for the date we picked.  So I am waiting to hear back from all my other officers and folks from the RIT Club to see what other date would be the best pick.  I think location and date are the hardest two items for the whole shebang!  This too shall pass.  Hope to have it worled out by the end of the day as there are some other divisions waiting to schedule their own activities depending on the date for the convention.

No morning welcome from the usual parties this morning or yesterday.  I too hope everything is alright with both of them....

Just remember: “The reward of a thing well done is having done it.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson  Kinda goes well with our hobby I think!

"The weak can never forgive.  Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong!"  - Mahatma Gandhi

Have a great day out there!

Jeremy - We would like to extend our sympathy on the loss of your wife's Grandmother to the entire family. Always a difficult and sad time.

This season of the Civic Light Opera is over. The last show was Monty Python's "Spamalot". It was far better than I expected. I wasn't sure how they would pull off some scenes, such as the "killer Rabbit" & the black knight in the forest, but they did, and quite cleverly too. All in all, a nice way to wrap things up for this year. The wife & I were trying to figure out how many years she has been a season ticket holder, & we finally agreed it's somewhere around 35 years now. That's a lot of shows and some great entertainment. It really amazes me how many extremely talented young folks are out there singing, dancing & acting.

The contractor finished up last week installing 6 new pre-hung interior doors, 11 double hung windows and a new bay window in the living room. For those of you who have an old house. you will understand when I say the old doors & jambs were badly out of alignment. The hardware had seen better days quite some time ago too. The new ones work so nice. No more skelton keys, pushing the doors to get them closed, or fighting to get them open when you wanted out. This was the 2nd time we have replaced windows, The last time being about 30 years ago. Most of them no longer stayed up without propping them up with a stick. Most of the latches to lock them or tilt them in were broken as well. It was kind of expensive, no. not kind of, it was expensive. We have used this company twice in the past, and were extemely pleased with their work. So to be honest, I didn't do a lot of shopping around. I have a tendancy to stick with what I'm comfortable with, and I am with these folks. They did a very nice job. All I have to do now is paint the doors & trim. Which the wife thinks will be done this week. Silly girl that she is.

Our railfanning has been a little spotty most of the past month. Lots of other stuff kept getting in the way, but not this past weekend. Went to our usual place for Nolfolk Southern on Saturday and were rewarded with 12 trains in 3 hours. 4 mixed freights, 1 Triple Crown road railer, 2 crude oil, 1 coal train, 3 intermodals, and 1 engine running light.

Sunday we went over to South Side & caught 4 trains on CSX. 1 denatured alcohol, 1 coke train, i auto racks, & 1 crude oil. We then left there & went back for more Nolfolk Southern & watched a gravel train being switched out at a transload facility behing us on the Ohio River. We also caught 3 intermodals & 1 mixed freight.

I think that's about all I have for the time being. Have to pick the wife up at the hairdressers soon, and then grab a sandwich. Hope everybody has a good day and stays safe.

Good afternoon. It's 88° with 56% humidity. The high will be 92°. It'll be cloudy with a small chance of rain.

Nothing much going on today. I had a doc appointment this morning. Nothing major. Just a follow up on my last appointment. Took some time yesterday to fix my old Nikon L20 digital camera. Nothing to it really. I just detached the bottom of the camera then detached the same portion from the broken one I got yesterday and reattached it onto the camera I broke over a year ago. Today I'm watching some more season two episodes of Star Trek Voyager.

 Afternoon Dinner?

Flo, wake up! I like a Beer Please.

Starting to worry about Ulrich and Galaxy. Little more about Ulrich with his bad heart. On Galaxy, I think Terry from Wis made him mad with his post. Hope he comes back soon and not in the hospital.

Pretty much wasted another day off.  After I made the house payment, took Sue and Sparkie The Rocket Dog By By, got mad at U S Bank, bought some Fried Chicken I was done! Lot of things I wanted to do and needed to do like cut the grass.

 See you all later, Ken

Evening everyone.  Hope you are all having a good day.  It's been miserable here weatherwise, and just stuff going on here that has made today a bit rougher than usual.  Oh yes, my report on sunday.  Well, after the couple hours of setting up the modules and getting the gremlins worked out (plenty of them!), we had a good day of showing off the modules.  My Wheeling unit ran for about 4-5 hours without even getting remotely warm with the 6 Wheeling hopper cars, so it was a good day.

These are the opinions of an under 35 , from the east end of, and modeling, the same section of the Wheeling and Lake Erie railway.  As well as a freelanced road (Austinville and Dynamite City railroad).

Today saw me take myself to the ER. The reason - chest pain. It turned out to be angina. The last I saw of my heart rate it was reading 150+ and I had this vision of some backwoods country doctor trying to jump start me using a magneto and an old extension cord. I'm back home and none the worse for wear from the event. This isn't the first time for me. The first time was before 2004. I was at the ER at Huey P Long hospital in Pineville for something completely unrelated. One of the nurses noticed I was a bit tense and asked me what was wrong. I told her to move the truck that was parked on my chest and I'd be happy to tell her. I spent the better part of a week under observation. They even did an ultrasound scan during which I could see the inside of my heart in real time. That was a thrill.

I'm calling it a night early tonight. See y'all tomorrow.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, a nice cup of decaf is in order right now....

Garry, nice to hear the BIL is doing well so far.  Will keep him in my thoughts and prayers!

Tom, always good to see you in the diner.  Are you folks going to be up here to wine country this Summer/Fall?

YGW,,  Always good to hear that life is turning out good for you!  Just remember, "By working faithfully eight hours a day you may eventually get to be boss and work twelve hours a day." - Robert Frost

Jeffrey, glad you are OK.  Did they change any meds, or did everything just right itself on its own...  That would scare the "you know what" out of me....

I spent the day doing a lot of emailing back and forth about the date for the Convention.  Nothing is decided yet, but I'm hoping we can get something figured out soon.  My Asst. Superintendents response was, "THE SHIP IS SINKING! Everyone grab a bucket and start bailing as fast as you can!!!"  The guy has an off the wall sence of humor and that made my day...  It will all work out....  Did some grocery shopping, and then actually disapeared into the realm of the Seneca Lake, Ontario, and Western RR and finished basic construction of the Overpass bridge!

This is just a test fit as it won't get installed until the road is put in under where it will be.  May get to that before the end of the week.

I'm starting to worry about Ulrich (and Galaxy).  Do hope they are both OK!

And remember: "It is one of the blessings of old friends that you can afford to be stupid with them." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Have a great night.  Prayers for all in need!

Good morning!  Rain here, real rain as opposed to sprinkes for the first time in a couple of weeks.  In New England weather, there's really no such thing as "usual."  It should be nice for the next few days after this.

Hockey last night.  We won the game.  With vacations and a couple of guys hurt, we have been short a few skaters the last few weeks.  That makes for a more ragged game.

I'm hoping to pick up the last turnout I need for my new layout section.  It's just a simple Walthers #5, but for some reason it's been back-ordered.  Continued fallout from the Great Track Shortage, I suppose.  I've decided that I'd might as well go ahead and build the next module, too, as what I've got isn't long enough for the trains I want to put there.

Jeff, do you have a computer named "Zelda?"  At work, we used to have more imaginative names for our servers and printers - like a whole series of European capitals, along with Elvis and Elvira.  Now, they have drab names like "BMDSD2."  Ah, the good old days....

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

Morning all.  Just a poptart is good today.  Well, it is dark, drab and depressing outside-super cloudy and a chance of rain all day.  Well, I work today, and I have to clean my car out for tomorrow's car appointment. I to am hoping Galaxy and Ulrich are okay and nothing happened to either of them.  I may be considering building a module since I don't have any space to put a layout, and I want to build something model railroad badly (building it well, if you know what I mean).  Have a good day all.

Morning guys,

Thanks for the kind words Tom, glad to see you back in the diner. I sent you a PM last week wondering when you might stop back here.

I have to work today, another short shift though. So since I dont have to go in until three today I was able to do some more house cleaning this morning with the windows open for some nice cool fresh air. I also am going to cut my parents grass this morning to get it over and done with.

This fall feeling means I will startr running trains soon. I usually take the summer off but found myself doing some projects over the last couple months.

Alos have been playing strat o matic baseball in my free time.

Talk to you guys later on tonight sometime

Morning guys

It's a bright and sun-shiny day here already. It was supposed to rain yesterday and today, but it's been mostly sunny. The rain was eclectic on Monday. On again, off again, varying from a drizzle to a downpour, some with huge raindrops...

Last night at the train club went pretty well. Looks like parking those Kato Superlines on straight track did the trick (for the most part). Part of me is thinking of trying another member's suggestion of trying #4s between the cars would work better, but Kadee doesn't make them anymore, and I need enough for 11 cars. Anyone here know where I could get enough for 11 cars?

Towards the 3rd time around the layout my 2 weighted up (I added 4 ounces to each one) Kato F40PHs had a hard time getting up the helix. The 4th time they needed assistance. Turns out the last car had a bunch of drag in one truck and barely rolled, but putting some Atlas Electrolube on the bearings seemed to help. If I can figure out how to disassemble the trucks, I'll try to hit the bearings with WD40 (I think WD40 seems to last longer than the electrolube).

However I did have a few hitches. The needle-like tube on my bottle of electrolube broke off when I tried to use it. I saved it and used it as a pick to apply the stuff, and modified the cap to go over the base where the needle-like tube was. That and when I tried to pull out my AHM Pacific, the box fell apart. The loco fell out into my backpack, but a lot of the extra weight I added came loose. I'll probably fix it Sunday when I have time.

Jeff, scary situation there; but good it cleared up on it's own. Just by chance, I recall you said that Atlas U30C (or whatever it is now) got destroyed when the tree hit your trailer. Just curious if the drive/chassis came out alright. I've been trying to get my last U30C drive to run alright, but I don't think it's happening (motor shaft is bent and the motor is really loud)...

Jeremy, Sorry about your wife's grandmother.

I'll likely pop in after work...

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

jeff - Boy you go from okay to bad in a hurry ! How are you feeling now ? Have you made a decision on your layout ,Staying or going ? Hope today is better.

Howmus - nice work on the bridge butments. Really nice job on the weeds on teh abutments. What did you use that looks real. LOL !!! Love teh Robert Frost qoute - so true but I would add this : 12 hours with out OT by using salary. So in essence we get all of the headaches for 12 hours work and bit over 8 hours pay. No one likes you. Inspectors think all builders are trying to install less than code, workers donty like you because now you are "the man", upper management is alwys critical of some decision you have made, because I m the face of teh company to the Home owners I am alwys to blame for some smll inconvience they have with their house. BUT I LOVE construction. Its like getting to be a kid playing with big toys, piles of lumber and lots of dirt.  Its like being paid to be a kid and play with lots of cool stuff !!!!

V8Vega - Having a large yard requires kids - to pull weeds, mow etc.. That is how I handle it : ). What is Vintage church ?

Galaxy/Ulrich - Hello hope you re doing well.

Prayers to all in need and especially for Glaxay and Ulrich.

Ray - I'm sure we will be making our annual trek again this year. Don't have any a clue as to when, but sometime in late September or early October if I were to hazard a guess. This will be the 15th year we have made the "Wine Run" as it's known in our family. October has been a good time in the past as we sometimes get lucky and get to see some beautiful fall foilage driving across I86. For our 50th Anniversary, our nephews & niece gave us gift cards from Glenora Inn, which we will use for lodging & meals, so this years trip will be easier on the wallet than usual. Although we will probably end up just buying more wine.

AS Jimmy mentioned above, it's been raining here for the past couple of hours. Glad I got the grass cut yesterday. Actually got it done between morning thunderstorms and late afternoon thunderstorms. Maybe I'll make the wife happy & start painting some doors. I think she knows me too well, as last night she said she was worried about having the painting done in time for the Holidays.

I was looking at some photos I took while railfanning over the weekend, & think I have found another area of interest for me. It's those old box cars, mostly patched, but still in the paint schemes of those smaller railroads. Some of which I never heard of. Here's an example:

If any of you other guys railfans, are there certain things you try to pay particular attention to? In the past, I've been mainly interested in the engines, & now have photos of about 2,000 different locomotives.

I think it's time for more cup of coffee, then I better get something done. So have a good one.

 Morning Dinners

 Flo, Diet Dew Pleases

Work in Fairview Heights ILL Today! Big Smile It all most feels like a day off! The 50 minute drive to St Charles MO is really wearing me down. Fairview takes me a whole 20 minutes.

Working Out I have missed 5 days now. Sigh With getting home late, walking Sparkie The Rocket Dog and havening to work in St Charles I have not had the time or been in the mood. Hope to break that cycle tonight with the short drive home.

I am all so thinking about dropping some movements from the workouts. I have been doing 4 to 5 exercises per workout. Think I am going to cut back to 3 to 4 exercises per night. With me doing real slow movements it makes for a long workout when doing 5 exercises with 4 sets each.

Weather has been great here for the last few days. High yesterday was 80 degrees and very low hummanity. This morning it was only 59 degrees!

Hope to see Ulrich and Galaxy here when I get home tonight!

Jeff, do you have a computer named "Zelda?" At work, we used to have more imaginative names for our servers and printers - like a whole series of European capitals, along with Elvis and Elvira. Now, they have drab names like "BMDSD2." Ah, the good old days....

Yep. The Apple IIc  is named 'Zelda' and carries the number designation of '8'. My //e carries the numeral designation of 'V' and is named 'Diana'. It's the only A2S2128 model I have with that name. Several of the A2S2064 //e's carry that designation but all have different numerals. Some Apple IIe computers I have carry the designation of 'LCA' or 'Low Cost Apple' and one is designated as a 'Super 2'. Most are beige, two are silver, one is black, the only black IIe I know of. Both of the 'Dianas' are silver. One is a A2S2064 (6502 processor, 128k RAM, Apple ][e from the early 80's, the other is an A2S2128 Platinum (G65SC02 processor, 2,152k RAM, Apple //e) from the late 80's. I have five A2S2064's, two A2S2128's and one model A2S4000 IIc. It's my intention to convert the A2S4000 into an A2S4100 Platinum. I can do that by changing out the mother board and adding some RAM. The keys and trim parts will stay beige. There's a 'High Output' power supply coming for it today.

jeff - Boy you go from okay to bad in a hurry ! How are you feeling now ? Have you made a decision on your layout ,Staying or going ? Hope today is better.

Right now I feel pretty good. No decision on the layout yet. That'll have to wait until I can stand on both feet.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, just a refill for my dark roast coffee...  Make it to go.

I'm on my way over to my son's house to spend the day watching my Granddaughters.  The live in Grandmother has to watch her other daughter's little ones and mom and da both have to w*rk today.  I'll be back home late afternoon.

Sun is busy shining for a change outside at least for the moment.

YGW, the grass/moss stuff on the walls is fine Woodland Scenics ground foam (weeds, burnt grass, and green grass mixed together).  There was also some weathering poweder used.  Thanks!

Remember, "For every minute you remain angry, you give up 60 seconds of peace of mind."  Ralph Waldo Emerson

Have a good one!

That show was 1983-84.  (Yeah, I had to look it up.)

Diana was one of my all-time favorite space vixens.  The aliens had assumed human exteriors, but they were actually carnivorous lizards beneath it all.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

Got a new power supply for Zelda today. Hooked it up, plugged it in and turned it on. It works like a champ! Nothing wrong with the old power brick. The new one is much lighter and works better.

 Evening Dinners

 Flo, Beer pleases

Work Front Today was boring, sometimes boring is good! Sold 2 out of 3 customers but they where buying cheap stuff.

Workout Front Yep, I got two of them in! Big Smile While at work I got my hand exercises done, and it felt pretty good. I used a hand held devices that uses rubber bands to adjust the strenght need to pull it back and make a fist. I stopped doing it for a couple of reason. Little finger that I had the surgery on was sallown up from either the posion plant I got in, from working to hard or drinking salt water becaus of the low sodium problem. It was a good work out and the veins started to pop out well.

Worked the Shoulder and Chest when I got home. Dropped the Military press tonight and did Side rasies, up right rows and bench press. Next shoulder and chest night I will do the military press, side rasies and bench press. Will change up the should exerises like this for a while.

Was very pleases with my bench press! Yes I start with a low warm up press, then go to a medium heavy weight for two sets and then the heavy weight set. Tonight I got a full 10 rep's out of the heavy weight set! Number 10 was hard, but I got it locked up in the up right! Yes  Maybe in the next few weeks I will need the bigger plates I have found. Still have no clue where all my lower weight plates are.

Jemery I am not sure if what I have is a ture Mountain Bike? I did have a high end one years ago, weigt was around 12 pounds. It had bigger tires than the current one. The tires on this looks more like a English Racer (What they where called when I was a kid) but the handle bars are up right, the shifter's are in the hand grip's, 18 speed and has padded seat?

V8 Vega I find it sad that the Pit Bull has to go for the simple reason it had been brought up in the wrong fashion or owned by the wrong person! No matter how mean a dog might be from the way it is rasied or how it was breed if a resonable ower had it, there would be no problem!  I now have some what the same worrie. Guy down the street lets his son's boxer run free when he is (Use the word losely) Watching the Boxer for his son. When I had Irish Wolfhounds a 35 pound Boxer was not a threat, closer to a snack. Personal, I am not worred when walking Sparkie The Rocket Dog, he behaves better for me than when Sue walks him. With her, he barks his brains out trying to be the tuff dog (at 18 pounds?) and is guarding her! With me, he just looks at the other dogs barking and keeps walking.

Either way I am glad the court found in your favor Dennies. Personal, I think the owner should be put in the pound!

 See you all Thursday!

Morning all-car is in the shop so I am stuck at home for the majority of the day.

Jeff, I hope you're feeling okay today.  As with everyone else here.

So I guess I will fill the time with writing out a couple bills, planning some more model railroad stuff, and some house work.  Hopefully it's nothing serious on the car, because I need the money to be able to purchase the stuff I need for my next project-the Wheeling and Lake Erie business car, and printer ink for my Canon printer (MAN THAT CANON INK IS EXPENSIVE!) Have a good day all.

(My Model Railroad, My Rules)

These are the opinions of an under 35 , from the east end of, and modeling, the same section of the Wheeling and Lake Erie railway.  As well as a freelanced road (Austinville and Dynamite City railroad).
