Morning guys,

I have been up since around 6 getting the garbage to the curb and cleaning the house. Tomorrow is my day off and would like it to be just that. I am going to get the ipad out tonight and start setting it up. I have to be at work for 10:30-7 today so probably wont be back in until later on tonight.

Have a good day guys

Morning. Good or bad what's the difference. This whole thing with the truck has me so upset it's having an impact on my health. I can't get it, the vans not worth fixing, I can't afford a vehicle that  doesn't require massive repairs and I just don't care anymore. I was feeling so bad last night I was in bed before 6:30 and anybody who knows me knows I don't go to bed before midnight. Blood pressure this morning was 110/59. Very low for me. I usually run 120/70 first thing in the morning. This is just all too much for me to take.

Afternoon, Folks!

It´s a nice day today. The temperature went down, and so did the humidity. I feel much better than in the past weeks. Too bad it was not that way during our short holiday on the coast.

I have not been doing much today, just reworked the construction drawing of the freight house for ease of construction. For this I need a few pieces of stripwood I can´t get here, so I sent out an order for that. Shipping is actually higher than the value of the material, but to justify the charges, I sneaked a few things I may need in the future into this order.

Jeff - I am sad to hear the truck business is pulling you down so much. Does your dad know how much effect this has on you? I wish I could be of help - not only with words of support. Petra and I are pulling for you!

No MRRing until my order arrives, which I expect Friday to happen.

CUL & make it a good day!

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and egg fu yung please. Thanks.

We have a noise ordinance hear that says no real noise before 9am or after 9pm. I think that is reasonable times for the curtious. However, if someone were to make a lot of noise until 2am….the next day I’d be mowing at 6:30 and running a chainsaw even if it were just to listen to the engine. As long as it wasn’t like the first time they did of course.

Soooo…..they use the truck for stuff that may possibly cause some damage, cosmetic or mechanical, to theirs and they refer to this as sentimental. Interesting. Sounds like they’re using your Father to me. I bet if they break it or put a big dent in it they wouldn’t feel any “sentiment” to repair it. Probably don’t even refill the gas tank.

Supposed to rain today and it looks like it will right now though it’s not. Gotta make pizza’s for noon delivery to the mine so I’m not gonna get all hurried about getting anything started til after noon. Then depends on the weather of course. Might just do a bit in the basement, Brenda wants a brighter laundry room and of course the work on the train/storage room.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Morning all.  Not much planned today-I work at 3 today, so can't get up to any major plans.  They dug up the street in town, so not much chance of driving around either.  No real plans for model railroading today, since I don't have anything to work on at the moment.  Oh well, have a great day everyone.

These are the opinions of an under 35 , from the east end of, and modeling, the same section of the Wheeling and Lake Erie railway.  As well as a freelanced road (Austinville and Dynamite City railroad).

Morning Jeff,

I don't blame you for those feelings, I reaally feeel for you in this.

I know it is not my place, but never the less, if I would have been your Father long before I would have bought a new motorhome I would have made sure my son who has medical issues would have good reliable transportation.  That is #1.

Then to allow some very selfish in-laws to dictate to you to the point of making you reverse your decsion that has been made is just unacceptable and a disgrace.  I can't contain my disgust over this matter.

My prayers and best wishes are with you that something will work out and ease your burden.

As hard as it is Jeff, think good thoughts and do not allow this to affect your health as you need all the strenght you can muster to get through the next couple of months here.

from here on in make that BIL's phone ring every time you need a ride, even though you won't get it, it might make him think a little about how grounded you are and I would hope he would have some guilt, but I doubt he will.

Jeremy - what do you do ? Those are odd hours.

Jeff - Sorry about bad luck on truck. Could part of this be driven by step mother ?

Galaxy - hello how are you feeling today.

Busy dy at w**k. Hauling in and Hauling off site. trucks, trac hoes, loaders, rollers , engineers every where. Plus we have a problem. Dug 15 feet down and still running into bad soil. Will not support a house ! Engineers working on a solution now. Gotta go.

Johnboy,

My sentiments....exactly!! I could never treat either of my three son's that way,or daughter.

That is just hard for me to accept, being a father.

Two days ago Jeff, I was getting ready to send You a bolt-on step kit for your van, after a few talks with my son if the ones he had were bolt on and he said yes. Don't even have to drill any holes. Then I caught the problem you were having on Pro-boards and it just really ticked me off, when I heard it. It just sucks...to the highest degree.

I'm lost for words.

Try to keep Your chin up, Jeff. I will still help, when I can.

God Bless, us All.

Well, I am calling it a day! Didn´t do much, other than reworking those freight house drawings and watching old movies. I am worried about Jeff and I feel helpless, because I have no means to support him. What a world we live in! Can´t say much more without breaking forum laws.

A good night to you all and a special Angel to Jeff!

Afternoon folks!

Chloe, how about a RBF to tide me over to supper...

Just got home from camp.  The speaker installation went smoothly and without any real problems.  When We had it all done I got out a CD of some old favorite Jazz stuff I have in the car and oput it on top play.  New part of the system....  Nothing.  Not a sound! Grrrrrrr!  Checked everything out and found I had the input volume up on the wrong side of the amp.  (Only using one side of an old Pro Amp I am donating.  Tried again turning up the right one.  Nothing!!!  So, I unplugged in a couple places and plugged back in.  evertything came up and ran fine.  I think it was dirt in the female side of the TRS seotup going onto the amp.  It has only been sitting unused in my shed for 10 years......  Sound out on the parade filed was awesome!  Good upgrade.

Jeffrey, hang in there!  Something will work out for you....

Later!

Well my father said this morning I have the use of the truck for whatever and however long I need it for. It stays in his ownership and the others don't have a say in how I use it or how long I use it or when I use it. If they decide they need it while I have it my needs whether pressing or not are paramount. In other words I can keep it at my home and use it how, when and for what I see fit. I just can't OWN it. That's good with me until I can find something better. It's gonna take time to scrape money together for a vehicle that runs and doesn't require a bunch of repairs. I can get along without heat or a/c or a radio. I just need it in running condition.

Just this afternoon my nephew was dictating terms to me about how I can use the truck, for what and when and how he'll be coming to get it if he decides he needs it. Should I tell you how close he was to getting his butt kicked up over the part of his hair? I told him he'll have to take that up with the owner who doesn't really like him very much.

Thats good you can use the truck Jeff, dont your brother in law and nephew have their own vehicles? I dont see why they need to fight you over something like that. I say when they want to use the truck that they leave you the keys to their cars so if you have to go out somewhere you have a vehicle.

Just got the Ipad set up ( easy to do if you already have a apple account ) got the wifes apps downloaded and will do mine tomorrow when Im off. I only have a dozen or so I actually use.

Good evening. A cloudy warm damp night at 81° and 73% humidity. Had dinner at my fathers place tonight. Meat loaf, green beans, mixed greens, mashed potatoes with gravy, buttermilk biscuits. Quite good. Nothing more of importance that hasn't already been covered.

Time to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

 Evening Dinners!

 Flo, Beer Pleases.

Yard Wars, Yard 1 Me Zero Well I did it again! Sad Yesterday while I was sparying them I got into some kind of Posion Plant. It is slow acting, but it acting now. Left Foream and Left Side of my Stomach is red and covred with welps!

Did get a workout in, still need to think about my plan some. While my arms are stronger and look a little better I still need to think about my plan.

Jeffery On the truck, couple of ideas.

1 Have your dad tell them "You can use the truck when ever they want, but you need to leave Jeffery your truck to use while you have it"! Whistling

2 Offer to let them split the funds you have for the replacement 318 after your Dad sign's the title over to you!

 Later, Ken

Howdy

Ulrich ... Sorry the weather did not cooperate for your weekend get-away. However, at least you could be with friends.

YGW .... I'll look for your email address. You can try sending a message through the conversation thing here in the forum too.

Jeff .... Sounds like a lot of flip flopping with the truck. I think the BIL should decdie he is emotionally attached to another turck insted of your father's. He should get one from his own father. .... Thinking long term. I think you said you are on SS disability. If so, be aware the trust fund is being depleted. It is projected to run out by the end of 2016. That's only 1 1/2 years. The SS Trustees say benefits will need to be sharply reduced when that happens. So far, I don't see the Administration proposing a solution to this situation. I'm not trying to get politcal. Just telling you what I have heard.

Terry in Wisc.... I'd like to see you here again. I saw your one word post, and did not figure it out. How is your layout doing?

I just got around to re-installing my Soundtraxx Tsuzami sound decoder in my 2-10-2. This decoder has been back-and forth to the factory a few times. It's installed again now. It sound fabulous, but the motor does not run and the headlights do not light up. ... this bothers me.

Good Morning!

It has cooled off considerably over the night, but now it´s ra*ning... There is a smell of Fall in the air - a little early this year. I am still waiting for nice summer days to come.

Jeff - I am glad your dad sorted things out with the truck and you now have a set of wheels to use. Your BIL and nephew seem to be the same set of characters as my brother, who never cared about our parents, yet is claiming what he thinks his rights are. I am just glad this jerk does not live in my neighborhood. Those about 300 miles between my place and his are a healthy distance. I just pity the poor gal  living with him, waiting to get married to him for over 12 years now. It´ll never happen, as he deems himself to be too "unstable" to go through the "ordeal" of a divorce from the woman he is still married to. After that long a time of being split up, a divorce is nothing but an administrative act, so there is no "ordeal" attached to it.

No plans for the day. I may do some more "paper modeling" exercises, as I still need a few drawings for buildings, lamps etc.

Make it a rewarding day!

Jeffrey:

I am glad your father sorted things out in your favor, it gives you "first rights" on the truck. Now yyour nephew and BIL will ahvet o find something else to complain about, and they will, I am sure, and I still see the truck fights in the future.

I am always amazed at how famil fights over the stupidest things arise. Blood is supposed to be" thicker than water" and we are supose to help our families out. But, "blood is thinner than paint thinner and burns just as quickly" is it does. Dunno.

It is amazing every member has "sentimental attachments to items, things and natrually money within a family. And all will acuse someone of taking something that should either be shared or to them who complain.

My Train nut friend spent 7 months one winter about 2 years ago in Florida taking care of grnamother. with 4 siblings, not a one lifted a finger, sent a dime for her care or even a nice card.  WHen she got really bad he behted/changed the dirtied sheets, you get the idea for her..and made her comfortable. He wanred all they'd best come if they wnated to see her again. None bothered until his one brother showed up 2 days jsut as she died. Well, G-ma told my firned to take the furniture if he wanted, and he could do with as pleased. HSe had little mnoney left to pay bills anyway, but the family acccusedhim of "draining gma's bank account{s}" there was only a meager checking and the small savings account, and it was used to pay her bills for the condo.

Fact is , i WARNED him there WILL be fights when she dies! No, he siad they all get along and not much to fight over. He was SO WRONG. SHe wasn't even burried and eveyrone to get their hands on the moeny, the condo {sold cheap for quick sale as they all wnwated quick bucks}. He kepthe funiture which still has complication with his sibs to this day , {like a Living room suite and 2 BR suites and the dining set were made of gold and worht a million dollar}.

He just cannot believe it over that, but I can! I've seen it in every case when the familyh memvber dies its "free for all" to "get what ever you can" and "the most you can".

I HOPE this case RPOVES to your father the character of those two, probalby not. Maybe so thouhg, we can hope.

ANyway, FOR NOW, JEffrey, you have your dilemma solved, and gives us a chance to come up with somthing different for you.

enough said, though I reserve the right to say more on the subject!

I , however am on early medical retierment due to medical issues. I have SSD which is the one slated to run out. I have a feeling all cases will be re-evaluated to determine who really is still disabled.

Many used the system and I think they will do something to salvage it. Maybe re-evaluate people liek me with 5 inch thick medical records to prove disability.

I cna't say a lot as it MIGHT be considerd "political" so I have to be careful.

Alls I can say is I can barely move in the morning whan I getup and have to wiat for pain meds/uscle relaxers to kick in, and can barely move due simply to living life at night time.

I know what you mean my friend. With all that was going on yesterday I didn't keep up with my meds like I should have. I'm paying for it this morning.

Good Morning All,

Just checking in quickly.I'll have a regular coffee to go please Zoe (for those of you new here, a regular coffee is one with cream only, no sugar. We New Englanders are a hardy lot). Still at maximum stress at the shop with the biggest race of the year coming quickly (Labor Day weekend) and the container for Oz still dragging along slowly. Colorado went well and the truck got back yesterday so we unload and prep those cars plus the rest of the stuff underway.

Jeff - I'm sorry to hear of all your troubles with the truck. Your inlaws sense of sympathy is overwhelming - not. Idon't understand how people can get so selfish.

Vince - a couple of pages back there you were saying most commuter trains were not 7 cars long. Most of Metro - Norths Danbury Branch are 8 cars in length and push/pull as well. The front car when pushing has a set of controls for the engineer.

Finally got to the museum Tuesday night. Didn't work on any of the layouts, I worked on the Wisconsin aircooled twin they use to power the turntable in the yard. It won't run but mostly it seems to be ignition issues. If I get a chance, I'll see if a new coil and condensor will fix it.

Gotta run. Load for Vermont today then off to Mt Equinox and the hillclimb tomorrow noon. Cheers, J.R.

Howdy .

JR ... Thanks for taking time from a busy schedule to visit the Diner. Good luck with the hillclimb in VT.

Jeff ... Glad you don't have to worry about disability although I wonder when Uncle Sam's debt will reach a point where he will have to cut back on everybody's benefits regardless of the program.

Galaxy ... Good luck with your benfits. I think the people with valid health issues are short changed because other people are allowed to have benefits when they really don't need them.

I try to encourage young people to save their money and invest it wisely. One reason is they won't be able to count on government assistance in the future. Meanwhile, everybody should find ways to supplement their incomes. You never know what the future is like.

i just bought some good used track which will be enough to complete the final part of my layout. It's Atlas code 100 nickle silver. over 30 turnouts and over 30 pieces of 3' flex track for $100.00. This was from a friend of a friend.

Happy Model Railroading.

Good morning.  Still pleasant weather here in New England.  I was able to schedule the 10,000 mile service on my car for Saturday, and I can drop it off and ride my bike home, then ride back to pick it up.

These Family Feud stories sound like my wife's family.  Last year, one brother asked his parents if he could "have his inheritance early."  Basically, he wanted his share of the pie before it shrank from living expenses and medical bills, and the parents aren't even ready to start pushing up daisies yet.  Fortunately, Papa said no.

Nobody knows what the will looks like, and they won't tell us.  At one point, they had it set up to skip a generation and go to the grandchildren.  Papa may have kept track of how much he's given to each child over the years, and plans to balance it out on the day of reckoning.  We have saved and invested wisely, and don't need their assistance, but the two brothers have nothing to go on for retirement and neither is doing much better than living paycheck to paycheck.  I'm just hoping they don't decide that we are the Bank of Family that has to support them, because we're not.  And regardless of the distribution, no one is going to be a millionaire tycoon because of it.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a bowl of Cherry Granola, skim milk, and some stevia.  Oh and my usual dark roast coffee, Please!

Currently 68°F outside here in the Finger Lakes region with a high of 74°F on the horizon for today.  Sun is shining and it may be a fine day for a change.

Family feuds.....  Reading about some of your experiences, I am very thankful for my family.  When My parents died a few years back, there was no fighting over the left over remains to the famly fortune as there wasn't any.  My Father and Mother were born with nothing, and still had most of it left when they died!  My sister (the one in Canandaigua) and I had to clean out my parents house.  Aside from some furniture that I took as neither sister wanted it.  The one in Canandaigua said it just wouldn't fit with her decore, you know...  The other one, the reverend, wasn't about to spend any money to ship what can be refered to as juunk all the way out to Indiana at the time...  Besides, she had to dispose of some "family hierlooms" my Mother left out there when she was living there...  Most of it went to a church sale I think.  My youngest son inherited the small piano they had.  Technically that would have been mine as it was bought for me when I was in Jr. High as a ploy to get me to practice...  I made it very clear to both parents that they had no physical belongings that I would ever fight over!  What I wanted was to have them around as long as possible.  Human greed is such a nasty thing!  I have some relatives (cousins) I don't associate with that maintain that sort of stance in life.  Greed is the basic problem with some other stuff discussed in here this morning too.  It is evidently easier to go to church and pray for forgiveness than to be the kind of person we should be......  'Nuff said!

I have a bunch of things I need to do before I go to the dentist today for a cleaning...

Later!

well,

I will either be lucky or haunted for my family feud.

My mother has passed a decade ago,so all is now up to my father. I have told him IF there is ANY inheritance- and I am not banking on oen if he uses it all up-IT will GAVE to remain invested or BE invested as our retirement funds, and any left over will probably go to charitable funds IF we have anything leftover.

Now I have a brother...there is no doubt he is the favorite of my father....in so many ways, though I am gaining some favor, as I do visit and check on dad which dad complains my brother would never do even when my bro  was in my father's town {we all live in the same general area, but can be miles apart too.}.

there is an issue in hat my father gave my bro thousands of dollars for various things over the years, and I mean in the tens of thousands, probably amounting to 3/4 of a 100 grand,if nto the whole hundred grand. Menawhile, while I was fihgting to get my disability aproved, my parents gave me bupkiss, nada, nothing to help out. They didn't like the fact that I was on welfare and COULDN'T work.

They thought I was just "being lazy". My father is now begininng to see how bad i am. I have had to have him take me for my spinal nerve injections and he's seen me go in and come out about crippled and "the pain you go through"he once said. HE now knows {with proof} that I have trouble s and the elaborate thing of going and getting the injections is not a game or charade.

He may pass along a few bucks here and there so i don't complain and only ever really asked for help to get through the time MOH was unemployed and i was denied recently and we were in BIG trouble. He did help out.

Subject of my brother has changed....lets just say my brother has "disappeared' and is "away" for a VERY long time. we will most likely never see him again. He is still the favor child as my father sends money and is still spending thousands of dollars on things for my brother which will alll be moot point really. My BRO will most liekly still be "away" for the rest of his life, {as was the original intention by the folks in charge of such matters} be it long or short. But as the favored child, my father still shells out money on his case.

Go figure. SO IF there is anything left over after dad is gone, It SHOULD go to me with a small amount going to my brother PERHAPS. That COULD all be wrong. My fahter has a living trust set up so I don't know what is in it, of how set up, but I told him he'd better be sure I am in charge of all the medical issues for dad, as my BRO, being "away" can not do so.

I am expecting nothing really, what doesn't go to take care of my father, will probably already be spent on my bro's case anyway whcih my fahter will probably fight til HE dies. He doesn't get it, My Bro is "away" for life. I have also suggested my fanthere se t up some accoutns with joint owner me for me to access to pay his immeditre bills when/if he becomes incapacitated. He has refused to do so,.

I could be haunted by havign to continue to spend money on my bro, who is "away" as per my fahter's trust directives, or the trust will direct so.

MOH's {FIL} is ttrrying to set up will and transfer funds via double ownership to ease the burdon on mOH when FIL dies. HE REFUSES TO set up a Living  trust! We won't be able to put up any money if required for probate on his will! He thinks the will is enough. we differ on that with him.

so we can only wiat to see what happens.

AS I said, I am expecting nothing. Perthaps I will be surprised, perhaps not.

that closes that issue.

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.

Good afternoon. 89° here with 63% humidity. Cloudy with a fair chance of rain. High of 92°.

Been busy today with a powered seven port USB hub. Supposedly guaranteed to support whatever devices are connected to it. Apparently the Magicjack and certain keyboards aren't among those devices. My key board that I've been using for a couple of years won't work with it and it won't even recognize my Magicjack. So those two devices are plugged into USB ports on the computer itself. The mouse (ain't caught in the traps yet), printer, scanner, external hard drive and a couple of flash drives are plugged into the 'USB Mass Storage Device' as the device manager calls it. It took a bit of work just to get the thing to work properly as Win8.1 wouldn't see it. It's no wonder the darn thing cost under $5.

No plans for today.
