Jeremy - 19c ! Geez we are in the low 90s F here ! Amzing what a difference your latitude on the globe makes.

Cuda - I couldnt agree more, lock the owner up in the pound !!! I know peopel like that and I do not have much respect for that type of attitude. What are they so insecure they hve to be mean to a dog to make it mean so they feel like a big man ? Give me a break !

Jimmy - yep ink is very expensive. You should hear my office whine when I order ink for the job site printer. I can understand why though. I saw a graff one time that had the cost of stuff by the gallon. You know what was at the top ? yep you guessed it, ink. It was like a thousand dollars a gallon !

V8Vega - glad things went your way on the dog. Can you go after the owner for the bills ? My step son when he moved in he had a dog that he brought with him ( both were worthless ! ) and he escaped (the dog that is ) from the house one day and killed the neighbers dog. We had the dog put down and paid the other folks the cost of their dog. Looking back I should have put my foot down and said NO to both moving in. Would have been less expensive and saved much heartache !

Jeff - how are you ?

Garry - Hope all is well in your depot : ) !

Anyone heard from Galaxy or Ulrich ?

Gotta get to w**k TTYL

Morning guys

YGW- Yeah it is cool here. At the moment we are at 16c and it might only go to 20c today if that. The breeze is cool and really makes it feel like fall. Its nice for a day or two to open all the windows and air the house out but here in these parts of Canada we dont like cool temps so ealry on,lol

Ken : I can reccomed you some good bike forums if you would like? Just send me over a PM. Those guys over there know alot more then I do, plaus I dont know much about grip shifters like on your bike. They will know better then me.

Went to staples this morning to pick up a some office supplies I wanted. They have good deals on now with kids going back in a couple weeks. They had the 80 page notebooks on for 5 cents but you could only get 10 at a time so my wife and I each grab some. That will last us a while. I bet they sell the three skids they had sitting there in a couple days.

Well off to grab something to eat and get ready for work. I will be back later on tonight guys.

Good morning. It's 80° with 52% humidity. It'll be cloudy with a high of 92°.

It looks like my Google Voice GVMate phone adapter has come in this morning. It looks a lot like a Magicjack. I wonder if it's as easy to use. I'll let you know later. The Magicjack I ordered is still in Illinois this morning.

Ah.........  Hmmmmmmm....  Guess I have to say, "Afternoon everyone!"

I got up late today, and then got a call saying the frame was finished for the painting I took down to the frame shop here in town.  It is a painting of wolves by a Native painterm, Eli Thomas.  Not sure which Nation he is from but it is Haudenosaunee.  Wolf Clan of course.  there are something like 36 wolves painted in the picture.  I am still finding ones I didn't see before.  The painting was a gift from my sister last Christmas knowing how much I love the culture of the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois).  I'll try to get a photo of it one of these days to post here...

Cool and variable clouds here in the Finger Lakes today.  Currently 64°F, the high for the day.  May have some rain showers later this afternoon.

The PiP goes in for its 20,000 mile service this afternoon.  Oil change and tire rotation.  This one is still paid for with the car purchase.  The 30,000 mile one I will have to shell out for.  They will also give me a free traction battery charge so the 34 mile round trip to the dealer will only have the ICE running during 12 or so miles.  Right now I am getting 79 mpg on this tank.  Will need to fill up late tomorrow afternoon as I have to drive to the museum Saturday and Sunday.  Busy weekend out there.  Tonight the Handicaped Troop will be going miniature golfing just up the road from where they meet and then have ice cream sundaes.  They will also have an informal committee meeting while the Scouts are playting miniature golf.  Won't get much if any hobby time today I guess.  Tomorrow will be a busy day with taking the biys to the vet for their yearly exam and vacinations....

Hope you all have a great day out there!

I'm getting very worried about Ulrich and Galaxy...  Wish they would at least check in or PM someone to let us know they are all right.  I do understand them probably being upset about a particular uncalled for comment that was made in here, but that is not the fault of all the rest of us.....Sigh

I can see why this Google Voice GVMate phone adapter isn't popular. It's very difficult to use. I've followed the instructions to the letter but I'm just more confused than I was before.

Afternoon all.  I got my car back today and you were right-it was the gas cap that was causing the light to come on.  Bought a book of stamps, and started some work on my city module since I got some telephone poles.  So all I really need is some figures, and a phone truck to put in another scene.   Have a good day.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, a cup of decaf would be just the thing right now...

The Boy Scout Troop went over to the Miniature Golf place and found that they are closed...  As in for good...  Kaput!  Gone!  So we went back to the meeting place and had ice cream anyway!  Can't wait to take my sugar reading tonight.  I had two bowls of ice cream!

I mentioned earlier that I get to take the boys to the vet tomorrow for their yearly check up and shots.  After I got home tonight I went and brought out the car carrier.  The look I got from Manét!!!  Hope I can find him come morning. LOL  Blackie has gotten used to going over every couple months and getting his blood checked and is now much better about it.  He used to cry like a baby when I put him in the carrier.  Mmmmmmmeeeeeoooooooowwwwww!!!  zup, zup zup....  Mmmmmmeeeeeowwww!!!

I don't know if any of you folks have been following the Tony Stewart incident where he hit and killed Kevin Ward Jr. at the Canandaigua Motorpark.  It has been ruled an accident by the local County Sherrif's office.  As it should be I think, but I have a personal link to the place it happened....  I was born and raised less than a quarter mile from the track which is located at the Ontario County Fairgrounds.  Spent a lot of time at the fairgrounds showing cattle, and mowing the grounds, and at other events over there growing up.  My Father was the president of the Fairground Committee for a decade or so and his memorial service was held in a building there.  I used to be able to hear the roar of the cars over there every Saturday night during my teenage years when the races first began.  It was deafening!  My Dad always tried to get the milking done early on Saturday as the noise would make the cows hold their milk after the races started....  Anyway a very sad state of affairs for all concerned.  Kevin Ward made a very bad and fatal decision when he got out of his car and walked out on the track!

Tomorrow I will be making a potato salad for the Museum picnic on Saturday, then printing a bunch of form 19 orders on onion skin paper (if Staples delivers it).  The form 19s will be used to demonstrate "Hooping" up Orders for the trains as they leave industry station Sunday during Diesel Days.  I will be in my usual haunt as Car Host for the Erie C-254 Caboose most of the day.

No model work took place here today and probably won't tomorrow....

Have a good night everyone!  Prayers for all in need!

Good evening. We have a nice night here. Temp 79°, humid: 66%. Mostly clear so maybe I'll get a look at the moon tonight.

My review on the Google Voice GVMate phone adapter isn't a good one. While I did get it to work it was for outgoing calls only. It would accept incoming calls ONLY if the caller was on my contact list. My new Magicjack should be here tomorrow. I'll be able to just plug it in and have my contact list up and ready and be making calls within a couple of minutes. My father should be happy. I think he's suffering from withdrawal symptoms.

Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Howmus, I agree.  The whole Tony Stewart thing has been painful to watch unfold as a fan, and could only be worse for Ward's family, Tony's employees, friends, etc.  It's just disgusting how media that has no idea about any form of auto racing kept saying Tony intentionally hit him.  Tony's going to be suffering from this for awhile, and he's not racing this weekend in Michigan and his non NASCAR schedule is indefinately postponed.  I hope the NASCAR media at least will respect Tony and everyone involved.  Sorry, I am a bit passionate about this being a fan, and respecting Tony as a great driver and do not want to see Tony retire just because the media kept hounding him about it.  Ward was killed by a mix of sprint cars, the stupidity of being a 20 year old male (I've had my stupid moments), and not thinking clearly.  These are just my opinions.

 Evening Dinners

Flo, Beer Pleases! I like Beer

Ulrich and Galaxy, where are you? I wish either would speak up if they are lurking about. No reason to punish us all.

Work Front Meet a family today that rental house burned down, they had no renter insurances. From what they have told me they pretty much lost everything. They have there 2 year old boy with them and he is a Thomas The Train nut like most kids are. He found a stuff train in are "The Kid's Room" section and went nuts for it. I just wish I could have gave it to him!

While I was talking with the Mom I had a idea. Told them to call me Saturday or Sunday at work I was bring the boy something. I am going to give them a lot of my unused train stuff, mainly cheap life like engines, cars, and track. While I think a 2 year old playing with track is not a good idea, he be hard pressed to hurt the other stuff! Most of it is junk, think most of the engines motors are burnt up and the cars. Well there is a reason I stopped using them! Who knows, maybe this will start the next genaration Train Person!

St Charles Work Front $ wise? I may need to rethink hateing working there! Whistling I just did a quick check of the tickets I have written and made spiffs on. Did not check my marging of profit, just a quick look. While I am not making money hand over fist, I was pretty pleases. Rough guest in 14 days I have made a extra $880.00 over my base pay not counting normal commission. I all so did not check for the small $5.00 and $10.00 spiffs, just the bigger ones.

Workout Front Yes Yep I was at it again tonight! Still find it odd the right arm is stronger than the left with the left arm being bigger? Whistling Will be adding some weight in a couple of exerises. When I flex and look in the mirror (spell check) I can see some good tone in the arms. Not like I use to but way better than it was 2 months ago.

See you all Friday, boy I have a lot to do Friday! Bang Head

Jeff- glad to hear you are feeling better. I hope this leads to reactivating your RR. What is magic jack ? What does it do ?

Cuda - Very nice thing to do.  What is a spiff ?

Jimmy, Howmus - I agree with you both on the Stewart accident. I cannot believe that he would walk out on a track like that with high performance cars tearing around the track. I remember in my younger days I drove in a demo derbY. A car next to mine caught fire ( we were both out of commision ) and I can tell you - I beat feet across that track before someone hit me. And those cars were just grocery getters. Not lean mean screaming machines that are essentially rockets on wheels.

Is Galaxy and Ulrich posting elsewhere ? Has anyone heard any news from or about them ?

Prayers to those in need.

Good morining ...

Jeff ... That cartoon is corny.

Ray .. It's ineresting you were so familiar with the race track. The video of the accident on TV made it look like the dirver was walking in front of the race cars on purpose.

There are lot more than just 2 MIA's from the Diner.

Who has model railroad plans for the weekend?

Cheers !

Good morning all...

It's kind of a brisk morning here for the middle of August, only 50 degrees. Never got higher than the low 70s yesterday. Not sure what I'll get into today. Got all sorts of chores done yesterday, but no painting. Maybe next week.

Stock car drivers have been getting out of their cars and walking into traffic to throw their helmets, rocks, track debris, etc for as long as I can remember. I worked at a local dirt track back in the 50s before I got out of high school, & I remember thinking then how dumb it was. But temper seems to have a way of over riding common sense.

I forgot to mention in my last post, when I was reporting on our railfanning last weekend, that I noticed some alterations made to tank cars carrying petroleum crude oil. On 2 of the unit trains we saw, all the tank cars had heavy steel plates attached to the end of the cars. They appear to be designed to provide additional protection against the ends being punctured. Looks like a temporary or stop gap safety measure while a design for new safer cars are implemented. Wonder how long before we see these in HO models.

Have a good one & stay safe...

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a short stack of blueberry pancakes with real NYS Maple Syrup, a side order of bacon, and lots of dark roast coffee for my R&GV RR Mug, please.

A cool morning here in the Fingler Lakes Region!  Currently 59°F outside with a high near 70 later today.  Dasrk asnd overcast as well.  Good day to work on the layout (don't I wish)!

I have to find Manét soon to get him over to the vet this morning for his check up.  he is already acting like, "Just try to catch me daddy!"  I want to do him first because if I take Blackie first, then Manét has found a good hiding place and I have to find him.  I live one block away from the vet and the appointments are done as soon as I can get them over there....

The rest of the day will be spent making a potato salad for tomorrow and getting a bunch of materials finished to show a friend out at the museum.  I also have to print up 50 or so form 19 blanks for use on Sunday.  They will be used to "Hoop" up orders to trains for Diesel Day.  If you are anywhere nearby the museum , it will be a fun day of trains.  The 12" to the foot variety.  Hope to have 3 diesels up and running during the day!  More info at: http://rochestertrainrides.com/events/

Have a good one!

Afternoon!

Back again, after a few days of taking a break from my usual life. No, nothing to worry about, just that I am in the doldrums. I have not been doing any w*rk on my layout for weeks now, and I am afraid I won´t be doing anything in the future. I am having more than just second thought pursuing this project. There are too many flaws in the design and the execution, which took away the drive I had when I started. It´s a number of small, but annoying issues, each one not a big thing, but the sum of all makes me unhappy with it. None of them can be corrected - design flaws seldom can. I knew this would happen when the track was laid. I decided to step on the brakes now, before sinking more $$ into something I won´t be completely happy with.

I don´t exactly know what I will be doing. Either start something new or give up completely. I´d like to do something new, but I need to stay in O scale to be able to scratchbuild a lot. But do build something proper, I just don´t have enough space (and money). I have grossly underestimated the space requirement O scale buildings have. I wish I could afford to go into HOn3 - I just love the Blackstone D&RGW C-19, but there is no way I can ever afford that. This would help solve my space issue.

Not a happy camper currently.

Have a good one!

Just coffee please. Already ate thank you.

Wow. Friday already. Man I tell you what, this summer has flown by. Been busy all week and got nothing done. Figure of speech but not too un-accurate…inaccurate.

Sorry to hear of those who passed and glad to hear of those healing.

Good morning. It's 80°F with 62% humidity. The high will be 92°F and sunny.

According to USPS tracking my Magicjack will be here today. It'll be nice to have phone service again.

Nothing planned for today other than getting the dressings on my foot changed.

Good morning!  We will be off to Maine in a little while.  Annie is doing a triathlon on Sunday, and we'll just be visiting and biking around.  It appears that we will have perfect weather until late on Sunday.  I will get nothing done train-wise, unless I take in the narrow-gauge museum in Portland while the others sit on the beach.  Sitting on the beach is not my thing at all.

Ulrich, we're all glad to see you back.  By coincidence, Galaxy is also among the missing right now, so you've at least reduced our overall anxiety level by reappearing.  Please, keep going with your modeling, though.  I love watching those scratch-builds coming together!

I'll probably be out of touch until Monday, but rest assured it's all good.  For a small city, Portland, Maine, has its share of nice restaurants.  Mmmmmmm.....

I am sure Galaxy will come back. I exchanged emails with him and yes, he is a little upset about that certain comment. But he has other business to tend to and when that´s done, he will join us again.

Let´s keep him in our prayers, as well all others in need!

A missing in action person checks back in. Nope, not dead, just been enjoying the most wonderful summer we've had in at least 5 years. Spending all my time out in the Firebird with the top down and camera in hand. In these neck of the woods, summers are sort of short compared to most of you south of the border folks. Have to make the best of a good thing.

Harvest has started around here so lots of swathers and combines in the fields. Lots of silage getting done too. The farmers must be expecting another long winter or something given they are putting up so much feed for the cattle.

Been taking tons of pictures of small little declinging towns all streatched out along rail lines. Great examples of older structures  for future refrence.

Got a couple of new F9's with sound plus some kits and a number of other rolling stock. Not much actual work on the railroad but winter's comming so I'm getting ready with supplies right now.

That's about it for this time.

Cheers all

Back from the Vet!  Both cats were pronounced to be in good health, got their shots, and a physical...  Blackie had his blood sugar checked.  It was 270...  She felt that for the time of day and that his meds haven't kicked in fully that his sugar is fine.  He has been showing no signs of Diabettes problems, so she is keeping him on the Glipizide.  Manét wouldn't get out of his carrier.  Had to tip it at a 90° angle and dump him out onto the table.  As soon as I set the carrier back down, he climbed right back in it!  I had to now drag him out by his fron apws!  He was not a happy cat.  The Vet very quickly got two huge handfulls of hair off him using the comb.  I told her I groomed him on Tuesday and got almost that much them.  She wants me to find time to groom him every day.  Hopefully it will cut down on the hairball problem they both have.  Manét weighs 22 lbs. and Blackie still weighs 19.5 lbs.  They are sweet "little" guys though!

Ulrich!  Good to see you back!!!  Also good to hear that Galaxy is alright.  I worry about both of you folks (as well as some others with major health problems here).  I think your little layout is wonderfull, but only you can make the decision on where to go from here.  Too bad there isn't a local club you could join and be a part of nearby.  It would give more opportunity to be around a larger layout.  I find your work to be excellent!

ChooChoo Dennis,  good to have you check in as well!  Don't forget to share those photos you have been taking.  How far up North in Alberta do you live?

Catch you all later!

Afternoon guys.

Dennis : Good to see you back, weather here in Ontario has been cool and rainy all summer. Its only 14c at the moment.

We went to the wifes grandmas funeral this morning. It was sad ( as all funerals are ) it was just a few months after her grandpa passed too. I have a short shift today again ( 3-7 ) I didnt know how long I would be today so instead og going in at 12 I dont go in until 3pm. I have to grab something to eat that will hold me off until we can get dinner later tonight. I think we may just get a pizza. I am off all weekend and want to try to get in some bike rides and I also have to cut a few lawns. I will hold off until Monday morning to do mine, its not long enough yet to cut. I also want to get some strat games in and work on some season projects I have planned for it. I am still on the fence if I want to get strat o matic football.

Might try to drop in tonight.

Hello everybody

Cdn Dennis .... Nice to see you.

Ulrich ... Glad to see you. I'm surprised you are not happy with the layout so far. What you are showing in the forum  is the begiining of a very nice layout, and your workmanship is outstanding. Keep uo the good work.

Todd .... Glad to see you. Your visits in the Diner are appreciated.

PA Tom .... Interesting details on the tank cars.

Our son, DIL, and 2 grand daughters are here from Cincinnati. Our son has his home improvement business in Cincy, and he does a great job with garage interiors.

They are here doing a garage make over of our garage now which will include a new floor and new storage cabinets.

Now the garage stuff is in the driveway.

Below is 10 year old grand daughter giving a ride to their dog. Our 30 year old Porsche is behind her.

Got my new Magicjack this morning and I already have it connected and configured. The service is paid up until Feb 2nd, 2016. Also paid my bill for 911 service. We got that here too. The Magicjack is for some reason considered a mobile device.

                                  Yard Wars!

Got the front and rear grass cut and then tackled the Jungle! As I have stated before with All The Heck BoS had put me throught for the last 4 years I just did not care about the house. I know I have said the yard was over growen a few times. But I bet many did not think it was that bad.

Yep it has been out of control for years! But I am fighting back now. This part of the house in the Family Room that sticks off from the back of the house. What I have got done has taken me two days, to bad the 2 days where spread over 2 weeks or so.

Whole backyard is this messed up. I think I am going to need some help. While cutting the stuff is hard, dragging it to the steet is the hardest part!

What do you think I should offer in cash a hour on Cragis list? I was thinking say $10.00 an hour cash. I want to be fair, but I donot have that much extra cash to spend. Funny, $10.00 a hour still sounds like a lot to me, but I do know it is Chump Change today. Hum Hmm Guess I am chump, only making $9.00 a hour. Thank Goodness for Spiff Money!

BBQ is about done! Dinner Pork Stakes and Buarts and they look great!

I now really like the new grill!

 See you all Saturday!
