Well, I went grocery shopping and now can barely keep my eyes open its the medication! Nap time very soon!
KEN/EVrybody;
Yes, Jeffrey need s at least a new engine or even better a newer full sized van.pick-em-up truck! He needs one to carry around large things for his father, family, etc, so a car is out.
I have started a "Pledge fund" and have $400 pledged so far. Jeffery says his family has pledged about $50 more, for $450.
That is NOT enough for a new motor or vehicle. I know we all probably exhausted our "charitable giving" for his house fund, and it was very hard for me to work the car fund pledge into my current "broke" budget, but my $100 pledge still stand if we can get enough together for him.
I just ask all to PM private message me to get the ball to continue to roll. {for those who don't know how, click on my avatar at top left of my post, whne the window comes up click the "start conversation" button in red on the top RIGHT of that window, type and send, then let me know in a post here that you PM's me so I will know to look in case I don't get notiications} That is so I can keep some semblance of order for it.
There is no limit or requirement amount you must pledge, ever multiples of $25's will add up to hundreds!
I know what it is like to have a vehicle die on you, nto run right whne you don;t have funds to fix/replace it, but I also belive in "paying it forward" and "good Karma" coming back to you for good deeds, as I have been blessed when I have sacrificed for others!
Ken: A new engine would help if you can get a good one for Jeffrey, amyboe our pledges cna helop get it to him and installed!
Have a great afternoon, the med is making me so sleepy I am nto sure what I jsut typed here!

Hi Guys
Was out to wlmart to pick up some exacto blades I needed. Did the house cleaning before and ave a load of laundry going now. I go into work at 3pm-7pm. They just like people to ease there way in for the first couple weeks. With only four hours it will feel like time to go by the time I get there. Might be back in later before I go.
They just raised the price of our inspections by 20%, along with pretty much all the other vehicle-related fees. There is no planned improvement in services.
I think that we have an out for some emissions-related stuff. As I recall, if the cost to repair exceeds some significant percentage of the book value of the car, you can get a waiver. I don't know the details, though, but a lot of older cars qualify, particularly "classic" cars that have low age-based book values but higher real value as classic cars.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
howmuswhat Jeff needs is a newer, more dependable vehicle!
I couldn´t agree more. I am so glad that my Dad bought us that little Volkswagen shortly before he died. The old Renault minivan was unreliable, and the repair bills started to run high. The new one is less than half in taxes and insurance, and consumes 40% less gas. This is where my MRRing budget comes from (the smallest part, though).
I wish I were able to contribute to the pledge. Transfering funds to the US alone is a whopping $ 20, making it impossible for us to join in. With all the friendship and generosity I have found here, this makes me feeling ashamed.
A series of thunderstorms is passing over us. You can set your watch - every two hours, it gets pitchblack dark, followed by a big bang and a terrific downpour. Our local FD is busy pumping water out of flooded basements. This weather gives me a headache!
I treid to get my mind set on nicer things and started on the wharf buildings. The new basswod strips and the new glue are a joy to work with! The glue is a quick setting white glue, which is tacky enough to hold after you´ve pressed the parts together. It also sets in 5 minutes, so I was able to cover some ground today.
cudaken Jeffery So do you need a engine and I missed the post? If you do need a new 318, let me know and I will see if anyone at Dodge Charger.com can help.
Ken: Sent you a PM.

Had quite a morning. My father gave me a ride to the hospital as my van can't be trusted to even make a trip across the street and back. Got the ultrasound exam done then it was to thebank to make a deposit then to Burger King for breakfast for three (myself, my father and step mother), my treat. From there to Wal-Mart to do some shopping. Got some groceries I needed, a pack of tape for my label printer, a pack of #64 rubber bands for use on the sleeve cuff of my prosthesis. They keep it from sliding down. Gravity works ya know, a bottle of assorted berry Tums antacid tablets and a couple boxes of popcorn. Now I'm waiting on the Home Health nurse. No plans today.
Great modelling Ulrich
Just about to head out the door in a few minutes guys. Will talk to you fellas sometime after 7 tonight.
Hmm
to show you how much the meds the Dr gave me post-accident makes me drowsy, although I had taken any since last ngiht at badtiem {9:30pm my time}, I DO NOT remember posting the above post when I came home form the grocery store!
I don't remember it at all...but it looks like a good one, well, maybe except bolding part.
Now I go get laundry,MAIL [see there I go again {but now I take anotehr one as my back is really tightening up}
SO I may no longer be held responsible for my posiitngs, which means no mroe driving for me until tomorrow too!
have a great nihgt
back home, actually Im a little tuckered out after 4 hours, lol. Plus Im not use to having jobs where I have to work with the public. Another 4 hour tomorrow,Friday and Saturday
Good evening, Chloe - just a go cup of coffee for me, please. Thanks!
Glad to read that most of our Eastern/Northeastern Diners appear to have dodged the effects of the storm. Whew!
Galaxy, hope you get feeling better (and that your 'magic fingers' will be typing better). From all I've heard, pain meds can make a person really loopy at times. Maybe call your doctor and ask him/her about modifying your meds (downward, if possible)?
W**k is... tolerable for now (we got an extension of sorts on the documentation entry for our digital monster, at least). Think I won't say much beyond that for now.
Jeremy B. - is your new job in retails sales of some type? After you get 'used to the hours' there, will it be full-time, or nearly so?
Ulrich, I love your buildings! You continue to impress me with your skill and design skills (and that's in N scale? ) I'm just waiting to see how much better those buildings look once you put some walls on the framing. Sent you a PM, by the way.
Blessings and a good night (or maybe it's mid-morning in some of our Diners' locations?),
Jim in Cape G.
Evening Dinners!
Flo, Beer Pleases.
Work Front Well it was sort of busy. Did not have anything great but still made a extra $10.00
Work Out Bet you folks are getting sick of it with me posting about it all the time. But what the heck! Had another good one tonight. In a week or so I need to find some more lighter plates. Only thing I can lay my hand on right now is two 25 Lb plates and two 50 Lb plates. Not ready for that kind of jump yet!
Ulrich Looks good but I do have a question for you? What sizes are your timbers in real life? Spacing sure does not look like 16" centers to me!
Free Train Stuff Have not had a chances to dig out the Boxes (Yes I said Boxes) yet to take pictures. Hope to sometime before this weekend.
Jeffery Needs a new Van Well I sure will not say he does not but why? The reality (spell check) is the fact there are not many cheap relieable cars, trucks and van's out there for less than $5,000.00. There are some but far and few in between. More than we at the dinner can afford, I just wish I could. Boy that Cash For Clunkers Sucked Cabosses for lower income people like my self!
What I Know About His Problems
1 Has to spary strater fluid down the Carb to get it started in the morning. That is a bad accelerator pump in the carb. Rebulid kits are around $70 depending on the carb. Complete carb would be around $250.00 for a guess.
2 Hard to Start when warm. As I posted, that is a commone problem with Mopar. Something as simple as a thicker carb gasket could fix that. Might need to block off the head heater riser passage. While some what labor intentes (Spell Check) Cost of parts would be around $50.00 or so.
3 Heater and Deforst does not work. I don't know if Jeffery needs heat where he lives? All so do not know if the heater core has been by passed and if he blower motor is bad? While parts are cheap, around $100.00 or so labor could be a killer!
Give me some details of what needs to be done and I will see if I can some Mopar Folk's in Jeffery Area that might help.
See you all Thursday, Ken
I hate Rust
Good evening or good morning. I was busy most of the afternoon working on the IIc getting it to fully operational status. Most of this involved freeing up stiff or sticky keys. I gave them a thorough cleaning then soaked their mechanisms with a few drops of CRC 2-26 and worked them until the grit or whatever that was making them act up was gone. The 'L' key is the only one that's being a problem. It has a tendency to double clutch.Other than what I posted at noon and what I just typed above I've done nothing else. No TV watching, no games.Time for me to call it a night or should that be morning? See y'all later.
Good Morning!
It seems as if we see a slight improvement of our weather! Yesterday, we got as much ra*n in one day than we usually have in the entire month of July. There has been quite some flooding all around us and our FD was busy pumping the water out of basements and garages, and clearing the debris from flooded roads. Instead of w*rking on those buildings, I should better start building a boat ...
cudakenWhat sizes are your timbers in real life? Spacing sure does not look like 16" centers to me!
Ken - I use 4mm by 4mm basswood strips for the frame, that equates into 7.5 by 7.5" beams in real life. I know the spacing is not correct, but it´s designed just to be strong enough to support the structure, not to be seen or to be prototypical.
CapeJim - I answered your PM.
Well, off to w*rk down my HD list!
CUL & have a great day!
Edit: This is my post #6,666, so order up, folks, it´s on me today!

Morning guys
Nice day out today, little on the cool side though. Which is fine for me.
Jim: My hours will be full time after a couple weeks. The only thing I am not a fan of is people asking you when stuff will be in? or where it might be. I just have to telll them at the moment "Sorry Im new, but I will grab another fellow". Its a grocery warehouse that is open to the public ( though its mostly just stores and restaurants ). I like it so far, I just dont like when I cant help people with a problem or question. But I guess once I have been there a bit I will start to know where things are.
Talk to you guys later on.
Good morning. It's 82° with 73% humidity. The high will be 95°. Cloudy with a chance of rain. with Plan for today. Work on the IIc. Yesterday I fixed the keyboard and scrubbed the yellowing off the case. Today I'll be checking over the circuit board under a magnifying glass. Solder has a nasty habit of 'growing' little spikes that can bridge circuits and cause shorts. If I see any the intent is to head them off by scraping them away with a jewelers screwdriver. When I finish with that I'll watch a movie of two then find something else to do.
Mornin' everyone!
Zoe, I'll have a short stack of Blueberry Pancakes with Real NYS Maple Syrup and a cup of Seneca Lake Blend Dark Roast coffee to start the day...
And what a great day it looks to be outside. Currently 68°F with a high of 74°F this afternoon under bright sunny skies (so far at least). I shall be spending the day catching up on odds and ends, doing the wash, getting a bit more done on the Bridge I am making for the layout. Also need to finish weeding the raised beds. have about 1/3rd of one of them left to go.
According to the local news The total from Tuesdays line of storms that came through NYS caused over 70,000 people to lose power and one of the two Tornados that touched down East of Syracuse killed 4 people. It was an F2 level tornado and is ranked as the second worst tornado in NYS on record. I consider myself very lucky that all we got here was a bit of wind and some short lived heavy rain!
Catch you all later!

We'll get there sooner or later!
Afternoon, Folks!
I am done! Temperatures rose sharply from a comfortable 14°C early in the morning to 30++°C right now. With the ra*n we had the last few days, it´s steaming outside. The predicted thunderstorm later in the evening won´t bring much of a refreshmentg, I am afraid.
We keep the place dark and the windows closed most of the time, to avoid the temperature to build up inside. It is 24°C right now, and that´s already too much for me to feel comfortable. I wish we had A/C...
Did more w*rk on the wharf buildings. I started out ripping a shett of that .8mm plywood into 6mm strips. I did not know that the little table saw I have can make such a terrific noise. After about 40 strips I stopped to keep the household peace. Cleaning up the mess I made followed - earned me a smile from SWMBO. When that was done. I started to put the planking on the frame - a tedious job in the roof section. As I stopped cutting 6mm strips, I coulkd not finish the planking - the rear wall is only about 15% done. Completing it will be on tomorrow´s agenda. I could not resist staining and weathering what I have completed.
I am quite happy with the rsult of today´s sweat and toil, but see for yourself:
In case you wonder, why the big door opening seems to be in mid-air - there will be a small loading deck in front of it, so the height is the same as the box car doors...
Just one more picture:
Hi Fellas,
Just about to head out in a few minutes. I have to get some photos to get together tonight for photo thread tomorrow
Talk to you later on
Jeremy

Anyway. Evening all, hope you are all well. Not much going on here. Dinner was popcorn chicken and arbys fries. I think I may be reading tonight (rereading The Stand),and enjoying my day off tomorrow. Currently I am watching Mythbusters and trying to think what I want to be my next project

Well
I took just ONE of the three pills i am supposed to take a day and slept mostly all day anyway.
I oput in a Dr call on Tuesday adn heard form his nurse today. I told her what was going on and that I forgot to point out a seat-belt bruise on my tummy/ torso that I shoud have, and she said she'd call me back if he wanted to change anything before my follow up appt. After which he goes on vacation, of course! SHe never did call back today,s o eihter he 'can't do more" or she has't had a chance to nail him with it yet.
YEs, we took pics on a throw away camera and I should have MOH take a pic on my cell of the bruising.
I am debating about getting a lawyer, and of then course then which one. They all advertise on TV, but I should have one just in case to protect my interests, especially since his insurance will want to push everything off on the fact that i have some existing back BONE pain issues. I have a lawyer friend I will ask for advice, though accidents are no where near his limited, but highly knowing specialty.
Well, we arent't having much luck in the Jeffrey engine fund so I guess is moot point on that front. maybe Ken has someone who will donate one to Jeffrey and Jeffrey can get it installed for free. TO bad,
well, I will see y'all in the morning unless i sleep through it!
Mint Tea, please.
Hope everyone is doing well these days.
I need to get back in here more.
Cheers! Rob
Good evening. Warm and damp here. Temp 83°, humidity 71%. A 20% chance of rain. Took the IIc apart this morning. That took about five minutes. Took close-up photos of every part of the circuit boards then spent eight minutes putting it back together and there were no spare parts left over. I spent several hours examining the photos with Windows Photo Viewer. With that I could zoom in so close that a tiny solder joint would fill the screen. I found no tin spikes growing from any of the solder on the main board or the keyboards circuit board so everything is great. For the rest of the afternoon and into the evening I watched A-Team episodes (yeah that show from the 80's) that I recorded from the Esquire Network (ESQNT), channel 191 in this area. I watched the shows back then whenever I could. I had an effective speaking course I had to be at at the same time the show was on. So I had a VCR set up to record the show and I'd watch it when I got home. A working VCR is another dinosaur I still have.Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.
Evening Folks
Boy, today just sucked Caboose! 1 customer in 10 hours? Neck and shoulders stiff all day, then I ate late at work and felt a little when I got home. I even blew off my work out tonight.
Day Off Will Suck As Well! It will be largely spent at the VA Hosptial. First appointment is at 10:00 AM for a breathing test. While I do not feel short of breath, I am a smoker so I better get it done. Then the next appointment is at 1:45 PM to meet my new Doctor! Yes a real Doctor, not a PA! Just hope he does not sound like a Duck.
Jeffery Engine Fund Galxey, no reason to give up! $450 (I will kick in something as well) could go a long way to fixing his Van. But I need more details before I ask for help at the Charger site.
Jeffery please speak up on this. I know about the hard starting problem when warm. What other problems need to be address? All so need details about year, miles on the 318 and weight rating of the Van.
Well I am beat, will drop in after the VA visit.
Ken
Evenin' folks!
Janie just a refill for my decaf please...
I managed to get about half of what I had hoped to get done today done.... Got a load of wash in the washer, came back upstairs and had an email from the guy who usually does sound at church that we could work on the new Mixer board today. So, I collected all the tools and stuff I thought we might need and headed over to church. Taking the old Mackie Board out and putting in the new Soundcraft one wasn't any real problem except the way things are configured on the new board at the moment make it impossible to close the rack down and put the cover on it. Since the cover hasn't been put on the board for 5 or 6 years now, we figured we would install it as configured out of the box. Of course that simplicity ceased... Had to completely remap how sound goes through this board compared to the old one...
New board has XLR outputs only where we were using the 1/4" phone plug TRS ones on the Mackie. The subs are also more complex and it took a while for me to figure out which of the 6 subs should be used for what purpose (The board has to send different signals to different pieces of equipment). The mains go to the Amps for the main speakers and the choir monitors. One sub is used for the Hearing Assist equipment, and two more subs are used for the stereo mix going to the recording equipment. On the Mackie we used Sub 1 for the hearing assist and subs 3 & 4 for the stereo mix. On the Soundcraft subs 1 & 2 are Prefader only, subs 3 & 4 can be switched to pre or post fader, and subs 5 & 6 are post fader. Since all our feeds are best post fader I had to figure out what to use for what... About that time the fire alert pager the guy carries with him said there was a auto accident in town. He was gone in a flash! So I decided I needed to run downtown to a local Music Store and buy an adapter we needed, then grab a few items at home we would need. An hour later I got back to church and he was still not back from the fire call, so I started to get some more adjusting and hooking up done.
When he arrived back (a few minutes after I did) we fired it up to check sound, mics, and all the equipment. It didn't work! No main output, weird stuff with the hearing assist.... I was not a happy man. One by one I figured out what was going on and what buttons had to on or off to get everything up and running. We now have great main system sound and a working Hearing Assist. So we are basically set for the needs for Sunday. I got down to church at 1:30 this afternoon thinking it would take about an hour to get everything done, and arrived home at 6:15 this evening! Had 15 minutes to wolf down a quick sandwich for supper, change into a Scout shirt and get to the Troop Meeting I had to be at. Finished the wash after I got home from that. Last load is now running in the dryer! I did get a bit more done on the new RR Bridge, but not a whole lot.
I'm pooped, so I am heading out to bed. Tomorrow I will spend another hour or two finishing up the install of the sound board. The Mackie was on it's last legs, and the Soundcraft is way better.... Hope the church gets many, many years of excellent service out of it... It was my donation to the church... Another reason why my spending $$$ are a bit low at the moment...
Have a great night!
Chloe, coffee in an IV bag, please! I am up since 4am. It was just to hot and sticky in the bedroom, as we had to close the window - too noisy outside to find sleep. That´d one of the disadvantages if you live within earshot of a busy main line!
I guess I´ll be completing the planking on that wharf building today. Following that, I´ll do the planking of the second building, which will be painted in a blue color. Windows will be next, but that´s going to be a challenge!
Make it a great day!

Ken: First I encourage you to quite smoking, even if the breathing test is OK. I DID smoke for a number of years but: 1} Smoking itself does damage 2} I had bad reflux until I had corrective surgery that solved the problem of stomach acid drianing into my lungs damaging them 3} I had chronic brochitis and then turned into pneumonia and spent nearly 3 weeks in teh hospital which scarred remaining lung tissue.
I ma now lucky essentially to breathe at all. I have trouble on humid days and get out of breath walkign to the mailbox! Plus, when we quit smokign we found we had EXTRA MONEY! LoTS OF IT!! as it wasn't going for Ciggies!
VERY HARD to quit, I know took me 5.5 months on the patch to quit, but I encourage you to quit if you are thinking about it!
Second, If you think you can geta motor, get it to Jeffrey and get it installed for $450-$500, it'd be a miracle! but give it a try, jsut don't wait to long the pledges may not still have the fudns for long! I know many just drained "extras moneies" for his house fund, and the vehicle is not as important.
we will see what we shall see when we see it!
