I miss Ulrich. He was a happier man here when he had a layout to work on.

I too miss him. I wonder how he's doing.

Good morning. It's 77° with 96% humidity. The high will be 92°, cloudy with a small chance of rain.
Morning: Afternoon: with

Nothing planned for today other than cleaning one of the //e's Lobo drives. That'll take less than five minutes. Other than that I'll probably watch some movies and maybe work on another loco.

Afternoon all.  Work tonight, well at least it is inside compared to being in the 90 degrees.  Not much else going on here.  Been working on a roster for my railroads.  I am figuring about 6-8 wheelings, and three Austinville locos.  I;ve also been planning about 8 different train symbols, sinceI cannot build the railroad yet.

(My Model Railroad, My Rules)

These are the opinions of an under 35 , from the east end of, and modeling, the same section of the Wheeling and Lake Erie railway.  As well as a freelanced road (Austinville and Dynamite City railroad).

 Evening Dinners!

 Flo,  cheers Pleases.

For a day off today blew!  Cry Main thing today was to get my Town Car back with the new radiator installed! While I had the car there I asked Bob to check the codes and see why the ABS light and Air Ride Waring's where on. Called today and Bob told me the radiator was in and he had no problems and the bill was $15.00 less than he told me it would be!  2thumbs

Asked him about the ABS and Air Ride? Well he forgot to have the ABS scanned but that is easy. Computer would not read Air Ride codes but it did a self Diagnostics and the Air Compressor would not turn on. No big shock there! Other tad of good news, the Coil Springs that replaces the air bags in the back prices has dropped big time. Was around $300.00 10 years ago, now $80.00. Plus it only calls for .60 of a hour to install the pair!  2thumbs

Car was still sitting level so I had sometime before I had to spend the $140.00 to get them installed, well so I thought.  scratchchin Got to Bobs shop and the cars butt was sitting on the real axle Shocked. There was no air left in the rear air bags!  RantExplode Now I am not bad at Bob, he did not break the air ride! But sure was not what I was hoping for! Seems part of the self Diagnostics is the car opens the air valves, so there goes the air! shruggy

Bob went home sick from the heat and I cannot blame him! Part that really sucks is my wife has friends coming from Indy this weekend and she has to have her car!  scratchchin I really don't understand why, her A/C uses the old style Freon and the A/C is very weak at the best. Which ever of her friends ride in the back is going to be hating life!  lol

Guess I will have to get into the savings to get it fixed.  brickwall But that is why it there I guess and not a New Grill.  Undecided

Ulrich Front Boy either is sick or Petra has him my the sack and won't even let him on the computer! Personally while I try to keep my wife happy, she will never run my life!  nono

Well see you all later, trying to get one of the last BBQ's out of the grill.

Evenin'folks!

Janie I could use a refil for the decaf please...

Spent the day in Rochester at an operating session.  The guy who hosted it is new to operations so it is a work in progress.  He is off to a great start!  There were 4 of us there today.  Two have had a lot of experience with operations and two of us have had some, but are certainly not experts.  His layout is well layed out, makes sense right from the start, and is big enough to provide constant fun.  His layout will be oin the tour when the Division hosts the Region Convention next year.

While I was there some severe Thunderstorms hit about 5 or so miles away.  No damage where we were and the lights didn't even go out or flicker...  However about 1,400 homes were without power for a while and several large trees were down.  As a matter of fact there is a storm rolling in here in Geneva right now...  I'll catch you all tomorrow!

Good evening. It's still 80+ here and very humid. We got a little rain, just two tenths of an inch.

I spent some time this afternoon making up and printing index cards for my floppy disk storage cases. Seven cases, seven index cards. Normally I'd have to make up a template card from scratch but I got lucky. One of the cases had an unmarked factory index card in it so I scanned it and that became my template. It was an easy matter from there to use MS Paint to type the diskette titles onto it and then print it on card stock then blank the titles and start again for the next case. Each index card has two columns of lines for titles. The title on side A goes on a line in the left column and the title for side B (if any) goes in the column on the right.

I knocked an FP7 off the layout while working on the labels. Only minimal damage. The horn was broken off. So when I can afford it I'll have to get some horns unless I luck out and find some here.

Other than the above I've been watching some movies. Got 'Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol' going right now.

Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Good morning!  Played hockey last night.  As expected, it was just delightful in the rink.  Yeah, my glasses steamed up as soon as I walked outside after the game.  80s and humid yesterday and today, with the AC on at home for the first time this year.

As you might expect, any group that would have me as their goalie isn't playing at too high a level.  Last night I had a shutout, and we won 17-14.  Huh?  Yeah, we define a "Tuesday Night Shutout" as anything less than 10 goals, but when I turned 65 I became eligible for the "Senior Shutout" as anything less than 12 1/2 goals, with a one-goal-per-birthday increase after that.

Not much going on today. Just waiting on the Home Health nurse to call so I'm not doing anything that can't be interrupted. I really get irked when I'm in the middle of a critical project and somebody demands that I be elsewhere or do something for them that they should have had done yesterday.

So today I'll be watching another movie or two. I'm sure something else will turn up.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a bowl of Vanilla Almond Crunch cereal with skim milk, and a cup (pot) of dark roast coffee in my R&GV RR Mug please...

Sun is out right at the moment, but won't last long....  Very cloudy today here in the Finger lakes with a prediction of "Scattered Thundershowerrs late this afternoon and evening".  What that means is as soon as I get the sound system all set up down at church outside in the parking lot, the thunderstorms will begin and there will be a mad scramble to un plug and get the equipment under shelter and everyone moved inside so the sun can come up and dry up all the rain, "and the eensy weensy spider can...."

Felt good yesterday to spend a day "playing" with trains.  Need to do that more often, I think.  I have yet to hear back from one of theMLK members who is supposedly making plans for us to havfe our Summer Picnic at the Yacht Club on Seneca Lake next Tuesday....  I'll have yo call him and see if the very big TWC is messing up again...  getting late to get it alol togethe.  Also need to catch up on a pile of other items that I havce not gotten to until now (that should have gotten done a copuple weeks ago).  Also need to finish mowing the lawn and get the PiP packed with all the sound equipment that we may not use tonight....

Catch up to you later!

Todd: You can borrow one cane of mine! I have my "around the house" bamboo cane, my "going out metal cane" {always in the van}, My "old timey" wooden sculpted cane {also in the van} and an extra "going out" metal cane, along with 2 "canes w/seats", and na extra carved wooden one {for MOH}.

todd: isn't it NICE when the "utes" {utilities} owe you money? NYSEG {NY State Electric {and} Gas} FINALLY figured out that after two years of "giving us" {back} 5 FREE months {really pre-paid} and ONE month NEARLY FREE {like a $2.53 bill} FOr TWO YEARS in a row at "cleanup budget billing time", they decide MAYBE they should REDUCE our Monthly BUdget Payment!

SO they cut it by 1/3!!! but watch them get nervous again, so I expect it to go back up! One bill higher than your budgeted amount, and They are on alert, 2 months higher and they jack it up by 25% at least. ANd get this: they only read the meter ONCE every OTHER month! They get really nervous when the "estimated monthly bill" is higher than your budget, regardelss of what the ACTUAL read {next} month says!

~The new cell phones won't come with a "to pay" bill for about 4 months as they OWED us LOTS of money on the "prepaid" plans we were on. Like 4 months worth "free" , plus I was about to re-up for another $108 so the next month is nearly "free" too! If not for that, I wouldn't have switched! We DO have to pay the tablet fee of $10 + fees/taxes but who's counting?

I see we have some "work" being done onthe forums, so I MAY get my mronign greeting In before they cut it off, so I MAY see yous in the early A of M!

Dinner was fried catfish {surf} and top round beef{turf}, mixed veggies and "tomato/basil/mozzarella" salad! Followed up by Orange Creme  3 layer cake!

 Evening Dinners!

 Flo, Beer's pleases!

How The Heck Does My Wifes Brain Work? Dunce I swear she works at worrying about stupid stuff that she makes up! Bang Head

Case in point! She has friends coming from Indy this weekend so she needs her car.  I called Bob today and told him to replaces my air bags with the coil springs and I need it Thursday. Said he might to beable to get it done, so I asked about Friday and he told me he was closed for some reason this Friday. Told him I really needed the car and it was because Sue had friends coming in town and they want her to drive when they get here. He said, I will get it done but it will be late Thursday.

Got home and told Sue he will try is best to have my Car done Thursday and what I told him about why I need the car.

Out of the blue she said "You should have not told him that! He may think I really don't need my Car and will not work on it NOW! Hmm

How the heck did she come up with that! Bang Head I swear she is getting more and more ate up!

 See you later, Ken

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a cup of decaf please....

Came out of retirement once again to do sound for the Strawberry Festival this evening....  Actually it was more that I supplied the equipment to get the job done...  I had a strange hookup from a CD Boombox again this year that took some time to figure out how to do.  Finally found a way to hook it up to my little 12 channel (4 mic inputs and 4 sterio chanels) to get it to work.  (the CD was the accompaniment for the group.) Then, since I didn't have a monitor system I had to use one of the front end speakers as a monitor for the group... (so they could sing to the CD.)  I wish these groups would let me know what they are trying to do before they arrive assuming stuff.  Of course they have no idea what they need either....

The last group was fantastic.  An accapella vocal group of high school aged kids that was just stunning!  Excellent and a pleasure to do sound for!  They actually knew what they needed and listened to what I suggested they do for mic use...  It is group of about a dizen kids from two diffeerent school districts that got together on their own to form the group.  They call themselves "Fermata Nowhere"

I got about half of the equipment put away before my back was screaming, "NO MORE".  I'll finish tomorrow morning.  Then I have to get the back seats put back up in the PiP. as I will be taking a car load out to the museum tomorrow evening.  An old Teacher friend of mine and his son are going out to the museum and may join as volunteers...

Ken, you had better hope that your wife is not right....  You'll never hear the end of it! Hmm

Got a phone call today letting me know my sister's lawn mower is fixed.

Time to get some Zzz  See you all tomorrow!  (Now where the heck is Ulrich?)

V8Vega

Thur.84 Fri. 90 Sat. 90
My house fire insurance price went way up so I found another company that was considerably cheaper and insured with them.
Now my old insurance company sends me a bill for the time my premum ended until they say I canceled. If I send them proof of insurance from my policy ending date then I don't need to pay.
I wrote them a letter saying that my contract with them ended when I didn't renew my policy. If I would have tried to make a claim they would have said I didn't pay so I had no insurance. It's stealing to send me a bill, I am not forced to insure with them. They can't try to charge me when I had quit.
I said don't try to extort money from me anymore.

Whoa V-8!

Did you NOTIFY them IN WRITING you were Cancelling policy with them?

My insurance company {and others} do provide "carry-over"coverage beyond the termination date as an "in case of..."

Insurances {and their companies} often DO provide coverage-even after your policy term has expired- until you notify them in writing, or send PROOF that you are elsewise insured! Then and only Then can they actually terminate your coverage. SImply NOT paying them does NOT necessarily signify that you terminate coverage with them!

That is bascially so that it cannot be claimed "they droped me for no reason", or the "check is in the mail", also they DO provide coverage beyond the termination date until you prove otherwise {in case the payment is still in the mail}.

Particularly if the insurance is required by a creditor [mortgage} or other institution {town, village, etc}. That way you don't have 'no coverage" periods.

The catch-22 IS, that you are right, they MAY claim, that "insurance wasn't paid for and thusly "not in force"" during that period should you have a claim!

I don't trust my insurance company to "provide carry-over coverage",even thouhg they do, as my bill is due the 30th of the month and it never gets to us until the 26th of the month! They CLAIM they send it out the 1st, but that is not true! can't be! it doesn't take any other bill we get that long {26 days?! REALLY!!??!} to get to us. They say IF I mailed it in, they would have covered us during the period of the 30th through the date they got it-during the carryover period.

I DON'T TRUST them to provide that carry-over coverage, and having {cheap} insurance with an agent local, I GO IN and PAY it to them in the office by the 15th!

Now, your "extortion letter" will perhaps provide them with the "written notification" they need to terminate your policy, perhaps not.

Personally I think the "send proof of other insurance" is a way for them to "Spy" on other insurance company coverages and charges.

Insurance , like most  everything else, is a racket!

KEN,

I had coil springs with air shocks on my 86 Town Car. In my opinion, that set up is a lot better than air bags. Just sold the car, two years ago. The guy was tickled pink. Everything worked and the air would freeze you out of there. I had the R12 AC changed to 34. All it needed was a new high pressure line to do that. It was gun metal Grey, Black padded top, with Black Valour interior. Rear windows were tinted darker black, than the drivers and pass. side. My boys called it the ''Mafiosso Car''.

True Story: Before my Mother passed in 06, I took my Black Lab to see my Ma and on the way back I was stopped at a light and the car next to my left had kids in the back seat laughing their butts off...I was wondering, what the heck they were laughing at. I looked in the back seat and my lab was sitting like a human on the right side, with his forearm on the armrest, where the switches for the side reading/map lights were, he turned them on, so you could see him sitting there, I guess it looked like, I was the dogs chauffeur. I will never forget that nite. That dog just loved to go BB. Now I have a German Boxer that is the same way and he knows what BB means.

Have A Good One, All. Big Smile

Good morning, America, how are you? (Love that song.)

Cloudy day, for now, but the heat has broken and we will be able to live without AC for a week or so. I turned it on in the train room yesterday after work, and accomplished a minor milestone. I put Gypsolite over the last visible section of pink foam on the layout. It's just tinted plaster for now, but tonight I'll add the turf and ground foam, and hopefully finish up that small spot with some static grass and trees by the weekend.  Thus "completes," insofar as that word can ever be used on a layout, Phase 2.  Yeah, there are a few grade crossings yet to be properly addressed, and I want to add at least one set of crossbucks with operating flashers, but those are just details.  Besides, I've got the lumber for the Phase 3 benchwork.

Still no word on the next Voluntary Layoff at work.  Everyone seems to think it will happen.  Human Resources keeps denying it, but they denied the last one until the day it was announced.  The company has put itself into a corner, because now everyone (like me) who is ready to retire is going to wait for "the package," and they won't retire without it.  Hey, I can wait.  I've got all day.

Good morning. It's 80° with 78% humidity. The high will be 92° and sunny with a small chance of rain.

This morning I decided it was high time I print an up to date listing of my Apple SD cards. I also wanted a look that would be in keeping with the age of the //e. So I used the ImageWriter II dot matrix printer. The result is five pages that have the look and feel of a bygone age. There's just no way to get either the look or feel of a document printed on a dot matrix printer with today's inkjet printers. A Laser printer may be capable of producing the look but it can't produce the feel of the impact of the pins.

No plans for today other than the usual. Watching a movie or two, playing some old computer games or as my friend David says prehistoric games.

I won't be here tomorrow morning. I have a doctors appointment in Oakdale. That's about an eighty mile trip then there's the wait in the waiting room, the time with the doc and however long it takes for him to do what he has to do then the trip back. Knowing my father he's going to want to get breakfast on the way there and get lunch on the way back so that's moire time. So I should be back home sometime in the afternoon.

That's all for now.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a short stack of blueberry pancakes with real NYS Maple syrup and a cup of Seneca Lake Blend dark raost to start the day.

New neighbor across the street appears to be "Officially" moving in today.  he has been living there for close to month and had been doing a lot of painting, repairs, and the like before getting the rest of his belongings moved over from his old appartment.  Older gentleman who is very interested in trains, BTW.

Last night, while I was doing sound at the Strawberry Festival, I was also supposed to be at the new Pack Meeting....  I let them know I had a conflict, and that should have been fine as the Committee Chair has had considerable experience both with Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts.  Unfortuately she was stuck in Kansas City at a conference with her flight delayed and so could not get here for the meeting....  Therefore the Representative from the church and one other committee member were the only leaders there and they had no clue on what was supposed to be doing at the meeting leaving a bunch of disappointed Scouts...  I will try to do some damage control today as time permits.  Sigh

I have to finish unloading the PiP this morning, get all the sound equipment put away for another year (probably), and do a bunch of other stuff around here before heading iout to the museum meeting tonight and playing with the 1/1/scale trains.

V 8,  what Galaxy said.  They have a legal obigation to keep you covered if required by your mortgage company or local laws.  If you had a fire during that period and you didn't have other coverage, you would be very glad you were covered!  It is your obligation to notify and prove to your former insurer that you have coverage....  Be glad they will drop the charge when you send them proof of coverage for that period.  Go back and read the fine print that is in your home insurance policy...

Sun is out for the time being.  It is a nice 69°F currently here in the Finger Lakes with a high in the low 70's.  I hope the sun stays out so I can get a good day's yield on the solar!

Catch you all later!

Well,

Normal chores, lots of errands tomorrow, so usual here.

Will do some major cooking later too, then I won't have to but heat-n-eat later.

Mr. B: I read that somehow as as "still no word on the next Vallium at work". I'll bet some WISH there was  a vallium at work! SOunds like you may have a FEW "all days" to wait.

Around here, the one few gov't contractor company just got a big new juicy gov't contract, and they said it would "create an additional 200 jobs". That followed up a few days later with "we are laying off and eliminating 40 jobs, mostly in food service and janitorial. We will be hiring subcontractors who will do those jobs at a more reasonable cost. Those employees laid off are welcome to apply at the new sub contractors who will do the job, and keep on working here under the subcontractors". Yeah. RIGHT.  I'll bet it would come with a pay cut and heavier work load! IF, I say IF, a company gets a big juicy long-term Gov't contract like this one, it should be a gov't contract law that they cannot layoff any one if the posiitions STILL need to be performed at the company while the company performs its gov't contract duties... Just sayin'

well, the dryer is about to call my name...{start beeping at me}

Lawyer Called she does not feel I will get a better deal with BoS so it is time to sign the papers. Well, it is more than I had hope for I think? Whistling

Need to run to Loews to pick a sprayer tip and go to the bank. Sue just had to go! Went to the bank first and it is right across the street from Bob's. My car was sitting outside and was done!  Yes

Picked up my car so Sue went on her merry way!  Big Smile Started my running and there was a lot! It was 93 degrees out side and my A/C works fairly well. But, by the time I got done with all the running I was lite headed and beat! As much as I wanted to, there was no way I was working on the roof!

Ulrich Front Main thing that is bitting me in the Coboose is it appears Petria has not let Ulrich say good bye to us!

Getting ready to BBQ and spray some plants I want to die!

Howdee all! Cowboy

Something soft Flo,,,,like mashed taters, jello or bread pudding?

I just woke up, no longer feeling the effects on the morning. Had to be at the oral surgeon at 9:30, so they could yank molar 3. I have a horrendous gag reflex, so they knock me out for stuff like this. I lost the crown off of it a few weeks back, then it cracked and cut my tongue. Speech has been a pain for the last few weeks and I have to speak to do my job. My tongue already feels better! And the tooth fairy brought Percocet! Woohoo! Big Smile On the job front I have decided to turn down the offer from the local Chevy dealership.  My current dealership has started to put a plan of action into place that will have me running the Used Car operation by the end of the year, making almost twice what the other dealership was paying, so no move. Yes, its more hours, yes its a little further to drive, BUT I have to go where the money is if I want to retire in 13 years with toys and no mortgage!

Of course SWMBO had to take me. It was her 1st time driving since her hysterectomy last Friday.  She's always nervous driving my car, but this time quite thankfull for the smooth ride the Impala gives. She did fine & will return to work next week.

Son #4 flew back from China last night, only to have his flight from Chicago to Charlotte cancelled,,got him on a later flight so he got into Charlotted at 1:30 this morning. He'll spend 2 months working in Wilmington N.C. before flying to Baltimore to see us for a week, then back to China for his final 2 semester. Son # 5 is already in N.C. until he reports to Ft.Benning in August. They both are staying with my older "spinster" sister. She never had kids, so she "borrows" ours from time to time.

Dennis,,,,,sorry to hear of your "pride & Joy" getting hit. Hope you get it straightened out soon.

Ulrich... I've just been catching up, and reading of his situation.  I hope he and Petra can find a workable solution, and we can continue his friendship.

Well, thats all the news from the central right coast of the country. We'll check in later!

Karl
