At least being the early morning, hopefully it would be mostly the nicer elderly shoppers.  I have spent today working on a four span Warren Truss bridge based off Of this one

I am adding an extra section possibly to help cover the cap that cutting through the walls at the club layout (space enough for Superliners/autoracks).

(My Model Railroad, My Rules)

These are the opinions of an under 35 , from the east end of, and modeling, the same section of the Wheeling and Lake Erie railway.  As well as a freelanced road (Austinville and Dynamite City railroad).

***Jeffrey, have never seen a loco with Pathmark on it before. What do they make or do?

Pathmark is a supermarket chain owned by The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, based in Montvale, New Jersey. Like some other stores/businesses they had toys made that carried the stores name. This served as promotion and advertising. The loco in my photo was from one of those sets. It's a 90's era Bachmann GP40. The original pancake motor died long ago. I pitched the chassis and replaced it with a modern Bachmann DCC GP38-2 chassis. The new GP40 chassis was too big to fit.

Afternoon guys

Had to work today because the only other backline person (according to managers there are 2-3, but there are really 4 that can do it) took of for church, again... That meant no train club today. I may have to make up my own religion that declares Saturday a "holy day" so I can have it off. lol. I work again atleast the next 2 days too.I requested saturday off for my MR club's open house... If I get it off I'll try to remember my camera...

Galaxy, sounds particularlly nasty what you have... Hope you get better soon

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Jimmy ... I like the bridge a lot, but the tow boat is very remarkable!

Galaxy .... Hoping you start improving. Sorry to hear about the ordeal.

Mr. B ... I already said it, but again I like the GG1.

As I said, Wednesday,  "Main Squeeze" had a birthday. Here she is at the birthday celebration that evening at the next door neighbors blowing out her "29 candles". Whistling

Not much model railroading to report. We're getting ready for our trip which starts Monday.

Went to my fathers place to sample his attempt at Cajun cooking. It was good but it definitely wasn't Cajun. Some Tabasco sauce and Tony Chachere's Creole seasoning took care of that.

Got the DH126D decoder for the Lima Hustler today. It's installed and that little Hustler is running great. Just gotta remember to put it up out of the reach of children, no matter their age. Rolling it back and forth causes the motor to spin and it'll fry the decoder.

Spent some time working on a serial printer interface card for the //e. I've got a plan in the works to get a working ImageWriter 2 dot matrix printer for it.

That's all for now.

Work Front. It sort of fair today. Had 4 customers and 2 of them bought for a mer total of $1400.00. In the mattress business that is chump change. But Dave had sold nothing when I left at 5:00 PM and we close at 6:00 PM.

BoS Front, the reason for the Sad faces. Yesterday we recived a Fed X letter from BoS that said they  "HAD ALL THE INFORMATION THEY NEEDED AND MY LOAN REQUEST IS BEING REVIWED"! well,

after MOh got home at 4 and made me 2 scrambled eggs {usually good for bad tummies}. I ate one easily. The second one though, i had to "choke down" as it wouldn't go easily.

Then at 5 pm we decided to take a nap. I always sleep better when MOH is around {and so does MOh when I am around}. I garnered a whole 2 hours of sleep, then had to use the facilities. It seems input is equallying output now so I am back to hydrated finally. Unfortunately I could not get back to sleep. i should be grateful for the 2 hours I got.

I took my night time meds and DO have an ambien to take to help me sleep. Hopefully it will work.

My mind is "hungry" that is looking for somehting to eat, but my system is not really ready and nothing sounds good still.

It was a BORIG day on TV..nothing but STOOPID shows, or reruns I have seen adnauseum. I passed on all food shows and ignored the travel shows food segments. Saturdays whne MOh has off likes to watch TV a comodity not to common for MOh as work does not allow for much TV viewing. MOH often complains aobut Saturday sucky TV. I foudn it no different today.

Maybe tomorrow I will be better able to handle chores and keep busy. also TV viewing on Sundays has mroe to offer it seems.

Hopefully I will get a night's rest and be more refreshed in the morning. I will probably see you early as usual!

Happy B-Day to those who had them! another year older  and wiser?

EDIT: KEn that has happened twice to a frined of mine who is trying for a loan modification! They send papers in and theyh "get out of date" before they get processed. they are paying a lawyer $700/month for "good faith" they can make the payment requested in teh modification. The lawyer is to turn over a portion to the mortgage company when the time is right. I am skeptical about that situation!

ALL I can say is that we are "mortgage free" now and have no such payment. The trailer, at 31 years old, however is about to cost us big time in maintenance and repairs. The porch included. And the roof and releveling and reskirting and good power washing or new paint job would not be bad either!

Finished working on the serial printer interface, I think. I'll find out how well (or if) it works when I connect a printer to it.

Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Good Morning!

For you it is Sunday today - for me it´s going to be "Plaster Day"! I am going to give that tin foil method a try to turn the Styrofoam into rock faces. I am all edgy about that, as the shore line will be one of the main scenic features on this layout.

cudaken
By the way, what did you do with the N scale stuff? That was looking great!

Ken - I still have it. It´s waiting in the attic until I put up the shelf again, this time on the other side of the room, just above my desk.. Each module is neatly pacaed up and covered to avoid any damage while being stored in the quite dusty attic.

I´ll be going to my friend´s house in the afternoon to make a jig for the assembly of the piers. Without a jig, which is basically a piece of plywood with holes drilled at an even spacing, it would be quite difficult to get all those pilings sit at the right places and the whole thing fairly level. That´s going to be next week´s fun.

Blessings to all and make it a great day!

Edit: I have just done it - I plastered my first stretch of rock face. Now I have to wait for two hours to see the results! It´s 8 am here, so bear with me until 10 am!

It is 3:45 am I did NOT sleep much last night. At 10pm I finally took my Ambien {which for most people knocks them out for a day or two apparently}. I was immediately yawning and so went to bed. WOke up to use the facilities at 1am and finally at 2:00  woke up to use the facilities and with a headache. I tried to ignore the headache and go back to sleep, but I think it may turn into a migraine, so I had to get up and at least take some aspirin. That didn't have any effect so I added Extra Strength Excedrine now. If that doesn't work i may have to resort to the Migraine med.

Taking that and my morning meds made my stomach REVOLT! SO I had to take an anti-nausea pill again. I wish it woudl stop.

I again have no morning hunger or appetite like usual. I usually can't wait for breakfast. Maybe I will try to choke down a small bowl of cereal.

If I take my strong migraine prescription, I may get some additional sleep, as it often puts me to sleep. But that too, is not guaranteed.

Its been like that all week, not just being sick. perhaps lack of rest made me vulnerable to the virus infection. WHite cell count was high so they know i had an infection.

MOh, on the other hand, tired form work, went for the nap at 5 pm yesterday with me and managed to sleep on through the night. Only stirring when I got up to get the aspirin at 2 to tell me the cat had yuked in the hall...I had heard it, perhaps that turned my stomach on end too. I can only cover it up to mark it for MOH to clean up later. If I try, I will only add to the mess, especially now! Moh will probably sleep until 5 when the alarm will go off for work agian, and wake up really refreshed!

I will struggle with lucidity all day now probably.

I am trying to have the positive attitude about the coming day as I put in my morning greeting, but it escapes me at the moment! Being tired and exhausted does that to a person.

Maybe by the time MOH gets up i can go back to sleep, and will miss seeing MOH off to work. That happens sometimes.

Hmm, MOH is geting up now too. Better go and at least put in an appearance of support before work takes MOH away!

It will be a long lonely day...

G'day Galaxy, sorry to hear you are struggling at the moment. Hope you are on the mend soon.

Evening all,

Spent a little bit of time on the layout today. Painted both sides of the backdrop a flat acrylic house colour "sky blue" and started to smooth out and fill gaps in the foam work. I'm not happy with some of the land forms so I'm going to use plaster rolls and wadded newspaper to add the smaller contours as I've run out of foam - and the big box was only stocking it on a trial and have no more for the time being.

Once the putty dries I'll get onto some more painting of it and start on the scenery.  I also got the second loop down last night and everything runs well with no derailments. I'm waiting on my LHS to get some more insulated and regular rail joiners in and also a medium radius point so I can started on the industry area of the layout.

At the LHS yesterday I picked up two Intermountain R70 reefers one UP and one SP, an Intermountain 3560 hopper in the AT&SF "Q" scheme - it was way overpriced but I haven't seen one for so long and just had to have it! and also an Athearn PS2 hopper in ATSF paint.

I've got the layout wired more or less to how I need, just need to tidy it up a bit. I'll be holding off on connecting the DCC until I grab a couple of decoders for my loco's.

I plan on doing a small order soon from MB Klein for some things that my LHS didn't have in and would be a while, and probably order another locomotive... Big Smile

I will share pics tomorrow night as I've already turned the lights off Wink

Back to work tomorrow after a 3 day weekend.

Have a good night!

Cheers,

OzJim

Mornin' everyone.

Zoe, just a cup of dark raost coffee...  Whatever you have there, to go.

I am just about out the door to go to Depot Guide Training today at the museum.  This is the second year they are doing a training session for those of us thatdo that duty.  Most all of us that went last year thought it was helpful and a good idea even though most of us turn around and do things the way we decide anyway... LOL  Still, a lot of good ideas and information and methods of hepling the public understand what we are all about.

Whne I get home I will be back getting a bunch of stuff finished up around here.

Galaxy hope you get feeling better very soon.  This has been quite a bout for you.  I bet you got a case of food poisoning....

Catch you all later!

no one in in 4 hours? Where is everybody?

Even Jeffrey has abandoned us? I know he said he wasn't feeling well. Hope he is doing better.

Well, I didn't do much but sit around wrapped up as I was cold all morning. I did go get the frfee local Sunday Paper at the gas station this morning though.I tried to lay down at10am, but after 45 minutes i got up to use the facilities and got no where sleeping. I am still exhausted.

One reason is I have for many years {about 20} taken a med that has the side effect of impending sleepiness. I relied on it to put me to sleep often. I started to react to it, making me hyper and overly energetic rather than putting me to sleep! so I had to stop taking it. the last time I was without it, i had no health coverage about 16 years ago. It took 8 1/2 months for me to get to a point I could lay down, close my eyes and go to sleep without it! I cannot tolerate the rest of the year without much sleep!

I also took my diuretic this morning. I have fluid build up in my lower legs and feet and the fluid is always a cold feeling. Being so sick, I knew NOT to take a diuretic when I was dehydrating as it was! I took it finally agian at 11Am. The down side is needing the facilities without fial every 10-15 minutes Like clockwork for aobut 2 1/2 hours! The good up side is now my feet don't feel so cold for once! Now I am warming up and the a/c had to go on!

i am trying to keep busy and wear myself out so maybe i can sleep later. I have done the bath towels, will do another load, and did the dishes to the extent that the drainer is full.  I cleaned up what counter space we have and recycled the recyclables. that gives me an excuse to finish the rest  of the dishes later.

For lunch I am not hungry, but have settled on a premade chicken cordon bleu. It is frozen kind. It will be done shortly. For breakfast I had a IHOP frozen breakfast sandwich, the first half of which went down, the second half i had to choke down. I am NOT hungry, but will eat because i need to!

I need to regain my strength. Still a little wobbly, but not as wobbly as I was yesterday!

well, that is about all for now.

Maybe someone will stop in later, everyone must be busy!

Healing enrgies for those in need!

Nothing much on TV today either, Super Soul Sunday on Oprah's channel is good IF you haven't seen  the shows adnauseum! Will have to find something to amuse me.

Good morning. It's 78° with 71% humidity. The high will be 85°, cloudy with a small chance of severe thunderstorms. Winds around 20mph with gusts to 30mph.

No plans for today. Couldn't sleep much last night so I played a couple of games of Starfleet1 then watched some TV for a while. Finally got some sleep, 5am to about 8:30.

Good Evening!

It´s been a lovely day, nice and warm, very much unlike end of April.

It´s been also abusy day for me - my first attempt at adding some scenery. As pictures tell more than a thousand words, here is what I did today:

The starting point:

2. Plaster and foil added:

3. The result when the foil was removed:

4. With a little more "grain" added:

The white spots in the above picture are reflections of the flash light on the still wet surface. They are gone by now.

I quite like it, but it need a lot more detail to show the tide line.

I managed to squeeze in some time to fabricate the jig for the assembly of the piers.

Galaxy, Jeff - I hope you are improving soon!

Tomorrow I won´t have the time do do some w*rk on the layout - I´ll be going to Miniatur Wunderland!

I've been busy messing with some guitar effects with my amplifier.  So far I have managed to get a tone similar to Bruce Springsteen's electric, a psuedo-12string for the electric, and a country sound for the electric.  I've got work tomorrow, and may celebrate my first day of working again, by purchasing something train related-either some more hoppers (I wish Bowser had more H21 kits in stock), or a couple locomotives (one steamer for my fictional shortline, and the other a SD40 or a GP40,whichever one I can find undecorated and then detail the life out of it).

Ulrich: looking good! i couldn't have done it better if I tried.

Well, I laid down at 1:15 as I was tired, but could not sleep. Other than silent meditation, I got nowhere. I got up and started beef for diner. MOH has had to self-fend for 4 days, will be happy to have a good meal cooked and waiting.

then i am sure we will be for a nap, as MOh is worn out after working the long shift at the grocey store. I do tend to sleep better when MOH is around, at least I get some sleep. MAybe that will help, and a full tummy never hurts!

I see Jeffrey isn't sleeping much either.

I am yawning now!

Other chores have been accomplished so Maybe I have worn myself out enough to get some sleep.

Howdy everybody.

Galaxy ... Get well fast!

Ulrich .... Great progress. I'm thinking it is good if you don't work too fast. Take time to enjoy building the layout. My 2 cents. You are building a world class layout!

We're very busy getting ready to travel. We fly out of Nashville, TN tomorrow morning for Arizona. Youngest daughter lives there with her husband in Casa Grande between Phoenix and Tuscan. They have a small house, and we will be in a hotel because of that.

I can watch trains from the hotel room there because there is a good view of the Union Pacific's Sunset Line (former Southern Pacific transcontinental line). We reserved a room on the side facing the railroad. It is only about a city block away from the track.

So, I won't post much if at all for a week.

Happy Model Railroading.

Ice cream sandwich, please.

***Garry, sounds like a neat viewing location. What would make it perfect would be if a couple Union Pacific E-8's went by pulling some matching passenger cars.Smile, Wink & Grin What kind of trains do you see on that line?

Was out on the lawnmower wearing earmuffs (loud mower) and noticed dark clouds rolling in. Leaves were blowing off the trees and it started to rain just as I finished up. Removed the earmuffs and could hear Thor up above playing with his darts. Good timing. With all the rain coming over the next several days, all the new fence posts in sackrete will set up.

Evening guys

Work was a killer today. I'm pooped out

Garry, SP sunset line, eh? I grew up on it when it was still SP. But that was in San Antonio. I recall lots of varying traffic... I did revisit it last time I went to texas and there were no trains on it :(

Well I got some sleep today. Trouble is I was passed out on the floor. I have no idea what happened. Near as I can tell it was for somewhere between two to three hours. I checked and I have no bruises, scrapes or cuts. At first I didn't even realize what had happened. I just got up  and went about my business and it was at least a few minutes before I thought 'Hey, wait a minute, I was on the floor!'.

Only thing I accomplished today was making a new copy of one of my Starfleet1 disks as the old one was worn out and was kicking out errors. A 5.25 diskette has a service life of about forty hours of use.

 Enening Dinners!

Flo, Beer Pleases and a slices of Pizza

Work Front. I worked today in St Charles, while it is a long drive I do like working there. I did get some good news today from Paul. (GM) Seems I am finally out of the commission hole from the mattress exchange that hit me for $120.00 three weeks ago! Big Smile In fact, I will have $3.00 commission on this coming check! Yes I know it sounds silly to be happy about $3.00 but I am out of the hole! I all so made $31.00 in extra commission, but that will not hit till the check after this one. I normally make around a extra $120.00 a week, so I am having a dry spell.

Weather Front. Looks like we may miss the bullet on this one! We where forcast to have nasty Storm with LightningLightningLightningLightning, hale, and (God I miss Spell Check) Tornadeos! But no weather warnings have been issued so far and they should have hit at 6:00 PM.

Ulrich, that looks great! I have know about the foil rocks trick for years but have never tried it. If, I ever get my life stablized (BoS) I may try that! All so saw a clip about using foam for soft works that looked really good as well.

See you all Monday, I am off and weather premitting play with the Road Runner!

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a cup of decaf to let me relax and warm me up a bit.

I went out to the Museum for the Museum Guide Training today.  Actually a lot more relaxed than it was last year.  The guy who is in charge of that end of the museum is now in his second year and has relaxed quite a bit now.  He knows everything will work out OK somehow.... Always does.  We did tell him to make sure we know where the incident/accident forms are for insurance purposes.  He also added the procedure for 911 calls and protical to the handout we got.  Got home late afternoon and have been reading a nd dealing about 50 emails tonight....  Have to get things ready for a meeting of the NMRA Division officers on Tuesday.  After that I meet with a guy about an article he and I are writing.

Rob, mowing lawn???  I guess it is getting to be that time of year!  As I drove down the street coming to my house, a person was out mowing her lawn here, so I guess if I get mine out I won't have to ambarrased to be the first on the block to mow!   I'm usually the last by several days.

Galaxy, Sounds like you are starting to recover from the ordeal...  I got home to find a fresh hairball on the carpet by the door...  Thought of you right away. Smile, Wink & GrinLaugh

Jeffrey, how's your sugar?  Waking up on the floor and not remembering how you got there is not a good thing!

Gotta get the pills ready to give to Blackie pretty quick.  I need to get some photos loaded onto a USB Stick tonight, and a few other things done.  Mostly I'm just kinda coolin' it...

Prayers for all in need!  Later...

We'll get there sooner or later!

Sugars good. As I said, I have no idea what happened.

Hi gang!

Spent my only day off doing the weed & feed to the yard, cleaning  up the remaining wood debris from the back yard and putting the 4x4's that we stack firewood on away. Dug a hole  and cemented a leght of PCV in the ground to support a bird feeder on an 8 ft pole. Sanded an antique dresser for SWMBO and helped the young one change the oil in his new GF's Honda along with rear brake shoes. Girls got rings in her nose, ears and bottom lips, and blue hair. Really?? I think the boy needs glasses!

I did get my repowered Chattanooga choo choo running. Gotta do a little tweaking on it, then final detailing. A pic is in WPF.

Galaxy, get well, and Jeffrey, stay off the floor.  I'm taking my sore back to bed, 5:30 comes early!

Good Morning!

Jeff - you keep me worried about you! Please take care - will you?

Well , for you it is Monday, April 28th, 2014, but for me it´s Miniatur Wunderland Day! Oh joy, oh rapture! It´s been quite some ime since my last visit, so I am eager to see what´s new. That place keeps on growing. Latest info I have is, that they have started on Italy. France and Great Britain are supposed to follow next year.

I was thinking on spending some of the translation money, which I will get in the next days, on another loco. I was figuring on a Bachmann On30 4-4-0, but I am not sure which one.

These are my options:

or should I go for the outside frame version?

Both locos are on sale here, the outside frame version is a little cheaper than the other one. I need yoiur vote on this...

Jimmy B. - have a great first day at work!

Blessings to all!
