This got me started.
In a wonderful serendipity, I was in the supermarket in December, 2006 (probably buying a turkey) when I spotted this set in the small corner toy section. I was astounded. I hadn't had an HO train since 1964 and here was a beautiful set for just $99....oval track and all.
That did it! Built an under bed set for the oval. Found out about DCC, flex track, knuckle couplers, metal wheel sets, and trains on Ebay. Seven years later, 3 layout versions later, and 135 locos later....130 decoder installs later....including Tsunaami in this AHM (Yugoslavia made, I believe) Sante Fe and it is still one of my favourites, of course. Too bad the supermarket discontinued the items after this, the 11th set in the series. I don't think AHM sells locos anymore on a website either, though I haven't checked for a couple years.
Be great if you show me your Presidents Choice (or supermarket) set.
Have yet to do the scenery, but here is a more or less completed "Brownidge Power Station" on the SLOW. Most of the vegetation nearby will be yellow/browish and stunted. It is a play on words for our now shut down local "Greenidge Power Station" down the road from where I live....

The two dark-brown cylinders on top of the large recangular building were made from 3-inch o/d Plastruct tubing, plus the various fittings attached to them. Most hobby shops don't carry any Plastruct tube wider than 1", so whenever I need anything like this, I have to order it directly from Plastruct.
