Good evening

Warm, sunny 60F here!

Well

We have decided to NOT buy the T&C. Not now, not that dealer. Why? you ask? because the Business Manager/Finance guy made me agry {Insert expletive  of choice here}.

Seems he wants to sell me a "extended warrantee" for 5 years/100K miles for a "mere" $1,765.00 on a $11,000.00 vehicle!!!!! about 17% of the cost of the car for a STOOOPID {NOTE: THREE "O"s!!!} BOGUS warrantee that Firestone {where I have all my work done that isn't done at a dealer} doesn't even have in their computer and pops up under 'net  search for "Amerigard warrantee" as a RIPOFF for the first FOUR listings and a BBB listing as NOT a member {please stop contacting us at the BBB as we DON'T have them as members, PLEASE type of listing there}. Other searches turned up as blocked for scamming or "threat detected" in my blocker program!

So, the more I thought about it, the more I checked into it,the angrier I got. The angrier WE got.

The guy actually got angry I wouldn't take the warrantee, adn actually pounded the desk and truned red in teh face! I maintianed calm and to shut him up gave him my finance terms knowing full well he can't get the warrantee in the monhtly payment for the length I am willing to go for finanincg. that made him happy. TOmorrow morning MOH and I {MOH remained calm but was seething underneath} will go and tell them OFF in a nice way and NOT buy the car. we have a reason to do it, but maybe we should wait, there are too many other ominous reasons popping up  that maybe this is NOT the right vehicle, Not the right time or whatever to buy this car.

SO we will hold off. For now.

Nwo I went grocery shopping this Am. wore me rihgt out, can't wait for spinal nerve pain Injections  on thursday.

MOH confirmed for the second part of the job interview on Tuesday. Hope MOH gets it.

We wnat to go to Maryland to a train show next wekend, ubt won't go if mOH doesn't get the job. also go to tthe B&O Museum. SO we shall see. This train show:

http://trc.trains.com/events.aspx?page=info&eventid=17638

So. we shall see. I have the injectiosn thursday, then friday a tooth pulling, so I may NOT be in shape for a train show!!!

later

Dinner was Portobello shrooms, onions, beef bits sauteed, cream sauce added over noodles with fresh cuke slices. YUM.

Hi all,

It's Sunday, so we went railfanning today as usual. Turned out to be a good day for it too. The weather was great as far as temperatures go, near mid-sixties. However, it was overcast with gusty winds which were a bit chilly at times. Anyway, we were pleased to catch 8 trains in a little less than 2 hours. Probably would have stayed a little longer, but the wife needed to do a little shopping on the way home.

The very first train to come by was a mixed freight with this beauty in the lead.

This was the second time I've caught this one, now if I could only catch a heritage unit. No luck on them guys so far. Another interesting train was a unit train of all NS "High Tops." First time I've seen this where we usually go.

Had a nice dinner tonight of flank steak stuffed with vegatables, cream style corn, mashed potatos and gravy along with a bottle Reisling.

The wife received her season tickets to the Civic Light Opera here in Pittsburgh yesterday. It looks like a nice season of plays. We decided however to send the tickets to"The Little Mermaid" to my great niece and her Mom. She is 10 and really enjoyed one of the shows last year. It also gives her and her Mom a chance to get away from her younger twin brothers for an afternoon.

Hope you all have a great week.

A few of us post in both the Diner and Coffepot. Usually I type in notepad but this time I typed in the post so I had to do it twice. Any of you ever do that?

There's no need to type it twice. Once you have it type just press Ctrl-A to highlight it then press Ctrl-C to copy it. When you go to the Coffee Pot just press Ctrl-V and it'll be pasted in.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, I'll have a nice hot cup of decaf, please.

Hey, hey hey!  Spring is trying to sprung around here.  The Thermo Meter done hit 70°F this afternoon, it did...  The rain forcast for today never showed either and the big bright yellow thing cam out a few times from behind the clouds as well.

Ron

Ron, I was at the Lakeshores Division NMRA Booth.  If you stopped in at Lake City Hobbies you most likely walked right by the booth.  We were in a hallway and Lake City Hobbies was in a smaller room right off that hallway.  If you saw the Game area in that hall, our booth was right in front of it.  I had my laptop showing a slideshow of some members layouts.  If you saw the table with all the vehicles with the LED lights in them, we were two tables down, the Buffalo Model Railroad Club was in between.  BTW, I always walk over to where ever Lake City Hobbies is and walk up to the owner, Jim, and say very loudly, You call these good prices?  Why I can get the same stuff at the very same price right in Geneva!  I have been shopping there for years and was his son's music teacher way back when.  His son Wes basically runs the store these days.  Sorry I missed you!

Looked to be a good crowd at the Train Show.  Good event every time.  Long drive to get there for me and a long drive home...  I am officially tired and will likely just veg out the rest of the evening.

Galaxy, I think you made the right choice with the vehicle.  Sounded a bit fishy when you were telling about it before.  Something better will show up.

Catch you all later!

Didn't get much sleep last night due to sinus trouble. Maybe I'll have better luck tonight. Been busy with a few things outside today and I'm tired. So I will be calling it a night a bit early. See y'all tomorrow.

And yes, this loco is still not patched.

Chamomile tea, please.

***Galaxy, ANY salesman who became snooty with me would see only my backside as I left that place of business, never to return.

***Tom, beautiful loco pic there.

Today was the longest day I've spent in the Sports Car (excavator) clearing brush and stumping so far this year. Interesting how some weeks/months I feel near deaths door, then a day or two come along when I am able to get some real work done. May pay for it tomorrow though.

Good night all.

Evening gang! Cowboy

Just an RBF tonight Flo please, they seem to help me sleep!

Took it easy today, the arms are still sore from the bush pulling escapade of yesterday.

Galaxy, sounds like a wise decision there. Extended warranties are a gamble at best, and dealing with a fly by night company or one with an already bad rap is a bad idea! Hope YOH gets a job, and you can come to Maryland next weekend. The Timonium show is always a good one. I would be there Saturday, but the South Mountain Division of the NMRA is holding a Mini-Con Saturday, and Paul Dolkos will be there to give a talk on his article last year in MR of printing out and detailing building fronts. CSX_Road_slug is riding shotgun with me Saturday.  I'll probably do the show on Sunday. Big Smile

Tom,, nice catch on the NS unit. I love the YouTube video on the painting of that particular engine. I thought I took a long time to do a paint job!Wink

LV, I can relate! I feel like 52, going on 90!

Dennis,, I hate to break it too ya,,,but its all staged!Surprise

V8Vega, You, if anyone should be the sorest of all.....it hurts just thinking about it!Sigh

Ulrich. Yes, I bet lunch was yummy. Glad to hear everyone has been improving, but might I suggest changing your phone numbers, and only giving it to the home staff "for emergencies only".

Good Morning!!!

Sweet tea and fried chicken, mashed potatoes with white gravy, green beans and….um….a piece of banana cream pie please. Thanks.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 73. Looks to be about the same through Thursday.

Galaxy- I would have balked as well. No second hand warranty or no car. Simple. If you don't want it...you don't want it and it shouldn't really matter to him other than that maybe alleged satisfied return customer if the thing were to break and if the warranty didn't make you want to rip the eyes out of anyone connected to it once you tried to use it. There is a reason they push that so hard, but I’ve never had a salesmen push one that hard on anything. Sounds fishy to me and I’d keep looking especially since the car didn’t sing out to you.

Personally, if it isn’t by the manufacturer….I don’t get it. Heard too many horror stories about some, none of which I can remember names. Well, maybe Sears. Mom always carried one on the freezer and the refrigerator and they bought them in ’74 and’72 respectively. They’ve been real good about door seals and the ice maker once. Even though it was hard water that took it out. But like Mom said, never added up to how much she’s paid out in the warranty cost. Besides, usually if it makes it out of the manufacturers’ original warranty, it’s in for the long haul, or I want a different one anyway. Let’s face it. How long can you get your washer and dryer, or refrigerator or whatnot fixed before you kinda want another? Oh I know, about the time you’ve paid for another in extended warranty and or deductables if any. My response to those who begin to kinda push is..."would you rather have $50(or whatever it is) a year from me and get reimbursed for repairs....or would you rather sell me a new refrigerator?" They usually opt for sell me a new whatever it is.

V8- That falling in the shower thing can be very dangerous. Glad you’re ok and hope you feel better and not worse today.

Heard from Brenda, she was very happy about the ACM awards show and was at the after party. She will be leaving Las Vegas 10 am their time Tuesday. Last full day of Bachelorhood. Guess it was ok. Not like I remembered it though. Oh well. At least the dog will remove herself from her post at the front door waiting for Mommy to come home.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Good Afternoon!

I am not having a good day today. The old ticker is acting up, each time my Mom calls - "only" 12 calls today! She apparently is trying her best to provide an untimely end to my life. Though I am not answering her calls, my BP jumps up and I have a pain in my chest each time she rings us up. I´d switch off my phone, but I have to keep it open for the hospital and the nursing home to reach us.

Galaxy - that´s the right decision. If they prefer to sell phoney warranties than cars, there must be something wrong with the car as well.

Out again - wish you a good one!

I'll probably clean up part of the layout today but will relax the rest of the day. My sinuses are still making themselves well known.

Morning All,

Currently it is 39 with wind, rain, and s**w. Supposed to clear up by mid afternoon, but who knows.

Have a mid-day shift today, so I need to get going soon.

Did some w**k on the layout yesterday like I planned, and took some pictures. If I get ambitious when I get home tonight I will post a few here.

Well

We did it. we went to the dealer and said NO DICE. and why we weren't buying THIS car THIS day From THIS dealer THIS time.

The salesman was first to know as we dind't want him to think HE did anything wrong. That it was the business/finance manager who lost the sale for them.

Then I asked t o the see the executive POOBAH of the dealership complex {3 makers in one dealer}. He said the finance manager would be reprimanded and written up. Dunno IF that will really happen or if the guy will get a slap on the back and a "don't do it again" mantra. NOt my problem now. Itz Hizzen.

So we did not buy the vehicle. We may just wait to see what happens.

Good morning Diners, seems like everyone is into spring mode except for those of us in the Great White North. Huh? For our further pleasure, we had 24 hours of sn*w yesterday and the night before followed by a beautiful sunny day today. Howmus would be delighted with the power he could generate here today. Only problem is that it a baulmy -18 C. Yuck.

Tried to buy some plaster of paris yesterday at HD and all they had was 1 L cartons. No big bags, no 5 lb pails nothing. So today I'll load up a 2/3 of a bag of fiberglass insulation that't taking up a bunch of room in my shop, take it to Habitat Restore and then go next door to Consolidated Gypsum and buy what I need in the quantities I want. They are way to heck on the far side of the city but it will kill 2 birds with one stone so to speak.

Still feeling sort of yucky. Don't know if its the flu or what but it doesn't seem to be going away any too soon.

Jeffrey it seems the lawn mowing didn't do your sinus's any good. Sad Aren't allergies the pits.

When the poplar trees start to blossom their seed pods, we get a ton of fluff floating around up here. Stuff makes my eyes just about swell shut.

Not much on the RR front going on. Just been running a rock casting production line so that I'll have em when I need em sort of thing. Wish I had a few more molds.... hmmmm should check at a hobby shop that carries some WS stuff. Maybe, just maybe I will get lucky.

Warm thoughts to all.

Morn....  Ah, guess it is now afternoon around here.

Zoe, i see you are still on duty, I'll have a turkey Club Sandwich and a glass of lemonade for lunch please.  Huh. Oh I already had my pot of dark roast coffee earlier, I did.

Currently 52°F under mostly cloudy skies (yep, Dennis, send all that sun over here in the East please!) with a high in the low 60's this afternoon.

I have been busy answering a long list of emails this morning, and trying to get some Scout business, MLK Business, and some NMRA Division business done!  So far much of it is still in limbo...

Galaxy, good for you.  Businesses should be made aware when an employee does those kind of things.  If this is common for the guy, he certainly should be replaced...

Ulrich, do get some rest.  I know that you know your Mom can't really help what she is doing.  Can the home disconnect her phone for a few days?  My prayers continue for you and yours, my friend!

Catch you all later!

I got my Kadee couplers today. Two packs of 147's and three packs of 119's. Now I can put the right type of coupler on the front of my FP7's. A 148 center shank is too low. The 147 has an under-set shank so the coupler head is higher.

As for me, I'm just taking a small break in the action after chasing the vacumne all over the house. Finally caught it in the spare bedroom where we keep it. Isn't that just the way.

Think I'll go wire some push buttons for the turnout motors and maybe make some more rocks and maybe even get some material ready for my tunnel walls.... Yah, right maybe I'll get two of those things done.. Whistling

Should I send the sn*w and the - temps too? Laugh

Nah...  The sun would do nicely with the temperature today.  Currently holding at 59°F here in the Finger Lakes.  Sun has been out for much of the day.

I did some outdoor stuff this afternoon.  Cleaned out all the remains of last years growth in the asparagus/herb garden.  Chives are the only thing poking through the ground so far.  I also moved a couple loads of firewood around to the back porch so I can get the driveway cleaned up.  I'll be back at that task in a bit.  Just taking a break.  A couple of the neighbors are out raking their lawns and cleaning up around too.  Couple almost across the street called me over to chat for a bit.  They are not happy with the next door neighbor who has had company park on the edge of their lawn making a muddy rut there.  The offending neighbor has already told them he will fill it in and fix it, but the lady wants to put a RR tie there to keep people from parking on the lawn.

I made a comment about having to be careful not to trip over the electric cord to my car....  They looked puzzled.  I told them yeah, so I can charge the battery.  They hadn't noticed it is a plug in Prius...  They both had a whole bunch of questions about it.  I told them the millage I get on average, and their jaws just dropped.  They also didn't realize that part of their electric is coming from excess power from my roof.  They thought that was super great!  They are nice folks.  I am lucky to live in a very friendly neighborhood, and I try to stay on the good side of all the neighbors.

OK, back to w*rk!
