Well
We here have dodged SEVERAL "sn*w bullets" this season. Another one today is staying well below us due to a high pressure {temp only 38*} keeping it at bay.
I am tired of winter and cold {my feet are always cold and I wear two pairs of socks to help}, but can't really complain, I guess. We also had to cut the heat costs by keeping heat at no more than 62* F in the house, so adding to the cold feet we bundle up and I am always cold, for MOH its the hands that are always cold.
Well, MOH is off to the orientation for volunteering at the hospital. Hope they accept MOH as MOH doesn't have written proof of immunizations, but will get blood work to confirm. Seems the proof of records was stored in a building for the school that was flooded and now has black mold. {toxic}.
MOH went to Dr.s today. Blood traces in urine point to a possible kidney stone that MOH suspected. Has antibiotics for a sinus infection and pain med for the stone with a strainer to strain, uh um..mining for stones...ahem.
Well, all bills are paid for the month so that eases my mind. NOW, for the whole week of mo bills and little mail til the next ones start for next month. I get my check soon and it is already gone. SO is May's. and June's.
Maybe MOH will get a paying job out of volunteering, MOH has a likable personality and gets along well with peoples and persons. May have MOh volunteering in the ER to help. Good all around training for LPN work.
Well, My back is telling me I over did it yesterday. But I got some things accomplished that needed to be done for awhile. Now to prepare stuff for the curb for tomorrow's trash/recycle collection. Wish I could do more to get more out to curb, but need to relax and rest my back. Next week I will tackle more.
having Chicken with herbs sauteed in some butter tonight, Dunno what with. Maybe leftovers for sides. MOH should be hungry when coming home by 7 PM.
Well, off to do nothing.
WISH we would at least hear form Ulrich! Getting worried. When he has been in hospital before, he was out shortly, maybe done in this time by parental stress? or maybe just in hiding form parents?
Well, wlll go see if we got nay mail worth looking at..should be in by now, always late on Monday's.

Well it is now official, we have set a record this year for the most snow in recorded history of our city.We have had in excess of six feet, six inches as we have gotten more since it was set. I have built in benches around my deck which is three feet off the ground and the snow around it is higher than the back rests of those benches. The snow beside my front driveway is higher than the roof of my 3/4 ton GMC. It is -11 C. this morning so there isn't going to be any significant melting today. This couldn't end any too soon for me.
It started snowing here the night we returned from Missouri on the 2nd of Nov and hasn't quit yet.
Have any of you had success with that little jig that Kaydee puts out for assembling their couplers. I have had one for quite awhile now and I find that I can do it quicker by hand (which isn't quick) than I can with the jig. Any pointers on what I am doing wrong. The instructions were written by a one armed, blind nincompoop monkey and really don't tell you anything. It looks like it should be straight forward enough, but it just doesn't seem to work right.
I will finish my H.C. here and head out to move more snow. There is a ton on the roof that I should try to get at least some of it off. But I am not going up on the roof to do it. I do have a roof rake and will do some off a ladder, but that is as far as I go. At my age I don't even like being up there in the summer any more.

Glad Chris found time to drop in again, it's been quite awhile since we heard from him. That Editor must really have a big smile on her face with all the work and running around that she has him doing.

Currently 36°F and gray here in the Finger Lakes. i just made a run to the post office with the newsletters for the NMRA Division. They should have gone out a week ago, but life didn't give me enough time to get them done until last Friday. Today is my last day driving to Canandaigua to take care of my sister's cats for a while... Until she decides to go off somewhere again that is. Might actually be able to find some time to get some model railroading done later this week. I have to pick little sister up at the Rochester Airport at 11PM tonight so it will be the wee hours before I am home and can hit the sack.
Paul, sounds like you had fun! I am not big on Sushi myself. They never seem to cook it enough!
Todd said what? I'm ready for Spring to get here myself. I have a couple more weeks worth of wood left, but I would really like to save most of it for next Fall....
Need to go plug in the car then head down cellar to do some wash. Might actually turn on the lights in the train room and fiddle with something while I wait for the wash to run.

Currently 38 with an expected high of 68 under sunny to partly cloudy skies. I guess that last part covers their almost always wrong guess.
Did a little scenery w**k on the layout yesterday, but I think my white glue may be a little old, as it still is not completely dry.
The daughters came by and took me out for Sushi, the three of us stuffed ourselves, as usually happens with "all you can eat sushi". I want to get my, or in this case, my daughter's $23 worth.
Weird shift today, 11:00 to 7:00, so layout w**k this morning, but maybe tonight, if the glue is all dry.

Finished power chugging through what they say is 17" of snow ( pardon my language) on the 25th of March. More snow than we've had in like 2 or 3 years combined.
Gotta load the sn*w monster and head out to the Church and make my rounds for....well nothing. Makes me feel good to do that stuff. Maybe they'll pay it forward.

Good morning. It's 33° with 82% humidity. The high will be 55°.It's somewhat frigid here by our standards. If I wanted this kind of weather I'd climb into the fridge or move up north. A freeze watch will be in effect tonight until 9am tomorrow.Depending on how well I can see today I may get a few items on the layout put away. I also have to look at clearing out some of the junk under the layout so I can get access to the rear of the east side and start setting up the principle parts of the grain elevator I've been working on for so long. It may be a busy day. On the other hand I may do nothing at all.

I think winter is finally over in New England. Our last snow was almost a week ago, but the forecast is for dry weather and warmer temperatures as we head into spring.
I made great progress on the carfloat project over the weekend, as depicted on WPF. I also got to visit the South Shore Model Railway Club's open house. It's a bit of a drive, an hour or so on a weekend with light traffic, but I try to get there every couple of years. Bob and Paul are members both there and here, so I salute them all for the work they've done. They did a major reconfiguration effort over the past year, and the layout was up and running smoothly with no derailments that I saw.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

Janie just a decaf, I'm still stuffed from the spaghetti dinner this evening out at my son's house. Actually I think what I overdid was the huge chocolate brownie with two scoops of vanilla ice cream I had for desert... Not sure I even want to take my blood sugar before bed tonight. I think it will be one of the higher ones I have had in a while!
Tomorrow my sister comes home from Georgia... I think her cat will be happy to see her! I will go up to her house early afternoon to feed and check on the cats,and will be picking her up at the airport at 11PM... Another long day.
I am exhausted! Too many short nights in a row...
I am officially worried about Ulrich! Will keep him and all the others needing them in my prayers...

My left eye is still red and irritated but eye drops have made it tolerable. Light is still the big enemy though so I have most of the lights in here turned off. Looking at the screen is still a pain.No work on the layout.Time to call it a day. I'll see y'all tomorrow.

I tried the air eraser. It really sucked at first, it would take all day to do the door on an HO scale boxcar. I looked up if there were any modifications to make it better. I found one, and tried it. Enlarge three openings to about 30 thousands. Well I couldn't get a piece out to drill the hole. After about 30 minutes of fighting, I broke the entirety of the gravity feed off. I said "screw it" and went my own way. I removed the ring that needed the holes drilled, removed the tube, and some copper mesh in the air inlet. Worked great after that, as long as the gravity feed stayed lined up. The downside is I have to refill it with baking soda every couple of minutes (which means risking having it come apart again). I took a wire wheel to it and tried to solder (looks like brass) and got nowhere. So I superglued the thing together. Hopefully it works. If not I'll try a different type harbour frieght sells that is less expensive (and has a larger capacity, but may not be suited to models). IDK if I'll get another one like the one I have as it's discontinued.

Mother Nature Was Out To Impress Me Today! Yesterday it was a sunny, 55 degree spring like day! Weather guesser where calling for 6 to 8 inches for Sunday, no way that was going to happen! I was stunned today when the parking lot at work started to get covered. I took lunch at 2:30 PM and had 6 inches of snow on the car. Cleaned it off and got gas. When I left to come home, had another 2 to 3 inches on the car and it was still snowing!
DOT had been on the ball this time and roads where in good shape all the way home. If it had been in the 20's for the last few days I bet we would have 15 inches of snow today. Here at the house we have around 6 to 8 inches on the ground and it been 34 degrees most of the days.
Wife just had Shaddy (Wolfhound) out and it is still snowing?

Ken—Let me get this straight. BOS (funny because the bank I have our mortgage through is Bank Of Springfield….BOS) has a finding against them for wrongful actions against VA loans, had to pay restitution…..and they’re still doing it.

Well I left here at 1, drove to Mainline Hobby, putzed around about 15 minutes, got what I needed parts wise and got home at 3:15, sat down and watched the race ate a large meal and now I don't feel like installing the stuff! Too pooped to pop! Tomorrow they are calling for anywhere from 3 to 8 inches of sn*w, so might have better luck tomorrow.
However when I was at Mainline, I picked up a flyer. Seems the South Mountain guys are having a mini-con on the same day as the Great Scale Show in Timonium, Saturday the 13th.. The mini-con will have Paul Dolkos there, talking about his recent article on foreground buildings plus several other clinics and workshops, plus layout tours after the mini-con. Sunday I could go to Timonium, except we got something going with the family. Looks like I'll be missing the Timonium show!

Its 83 degrees in here right now!!
It's gotten cooler here. At this time it's 51° but a 25mph north-west wind coming off the lake is making it feel colder, enough so that I have the heater on low right now to keep it at 70° in my little trailer. The weather guesser is talking about getting down to freezing tonight. It's looking like this cool streak will continue for most of the week. No layout work today but I did run the FP7 consist for a little while. I plan on repainting three of them. The Rock Island unit will remain as it is but the gray undecorated unit and the BN and ex-PRR units have an as yet unconfirmed date with the paint shop.

Packer Karl, seems a bit simpler than my doing. I take the atlas SD24 cab and cut the center out. Then I cut down a Des Plaines Hobbies window insert to fit... It's tricky to do without going over, as there is litle margin for error or to put filler and a file. An attestment to the riskyness of the procedure, I've attempted it 5 times, and had 3 successes. Out of those successes, only 2 were useable (to me at least) as the filler I had used on the other ate part of the window frames away. There might be a better way, as I've head Perscion Scale makes some parts to do this. Unfortunately, I have to buy their catalog to see what they have. I wish Atlas had SD26 cabs in stock, or Cascade & Pacific Shops still made their BN-specific kit (which included a nose) Luckily I only need one of my cabs right now, the second I'm saving for another project... (whenever I pick up another P2K Geep)
