Garry: The MESS is now a bigger MESS! Started the expansion last month with an additional 50' of track as the main line is now two main lines, which come together for 1/2 their lengths (60' x 2) to make a doubled main line. with minimum 30" curves so I can run my 2-10-4's (2 CPR Selkirks and a CV Texas). Definitely a retirement project in the making!
Phil: unfortunately I ran out of time and never got a hold of Teffy. When you call him you KNOW you're in for a very long call! Mine usually go for up to 2 hrs!!! I'll definitely call him this month off.
Howmus: Let's see now... 120 Ton Steam Wrecking Crane (just need to add grab rails and decals), Boom Car and 40' bulkhead pulpwood flat car x 2. Also brought along a Walthers undecorated Dynamometer car, 3 40' panel side hoppers by Accurail (CN, CV, GTW) and a Trainman Boxcar.
The MESS will be getting additional sidings/staging yard once the main line is up and running! Cuz I need them desperately!!!

Felt the same way when I was buying paint for the Me Bf 109G-10. Think I am set with what I have for the Mustang. Will be decorated for the 332nd, the Tuskegee Airmen. Good evening. Wasn't a bad Easter. Went up to grandmother's today. Red Tails just happened to be on, so I was happy. Got far on my Me Bf 109G-10 model. The only things that soured me today was the fact that the weather wasn't great and North Korea obviously just doesn't know when to shut up (don't mean to start a political war)................................ Hope things don't get too sour on that spit of land. Anyway, night everyone.

Evenin' folks!
Easter day was busy and enjoyable. Enjoyed Church this morning, then went to a fancy hotel restaurant in Canandaigua that my sister always makes reservation for the family for. They put on a great spread, but the buffet lines were very long and slow moving. The granddaughters were pretty good there considering. Came back home from that and headed out to my son's house for an evening of games, TV watching, and family fun. The granddaughters and the fiancee of a great Uncle of theirs took on the champ (me) in a game of Bowling (Wii) I easily beat them... Give them a couple more years and I don't think old granddad's score will be enough though!
I managed to accumulate way too much candy again so much of it will be out away to be doled out little by little to me by me.
Jeffrey, sorry to hear the 'puter went South on you. I know you will come up with something that will do the trick for you soon!
I see that Sorrycus done made it into the final 4 for the dribble and shoot contest this year.... My son is elated about it as he spent a year at Syracuse working on his Bachelors degree. He flunked out as he didn't know the difference between studying and partying at that point in time.
I do wish we knew what is going on with Ulrich! Miss his posts... Have a great night everyone, and don't forget to put out a trail of crumbs for us, whoever moves the diner to its new location!

Went out for dinner with my folks to celebrate the end of Lent. My mother gave up eating out (She hasn't taken my dare to give up fish or rice for lent) and since it's over now we decided to eat out.
Ken, I thought that was what was with the SD9. If the worm is engaged to the ones in the truck, the wheels can't be turned by hand. As for motors, most of the ones P2K used we either knock-offs of the Atlas (like the GP38-2 and SD45) or Athearn (GP7-30, SD7/9, BL2s) motors. If you could get the flywheels off of a motor, from say a BL2, and stick the SD7's flywheels on it, it would work. I tried and failed at that (broke a P2K GP30's motor trying to get the flywheels off, bent the shaft and jacked up some of the commutators). I had an SD9 motor go bad and I was able to get the next-to-last replacement from Walther's. The newest run of SD7/9s have can motors now.
Jeff, that sucks. I have an old laptop that I probably ain't gonna use that I could send with 1GB of RAM (too low for my needs). But it needs a hard drive and it has a rather small (I think 12 to 15 inch) screen. Rebuilt hard drives for this type cost about $40. BTW, if that package gets out Monday, do you think it'd be here by Friday?

Got a variety of things w*rked on down in the train room. Stuff like soldering feeders on a couple of extra sidings, gleaming the new sections. Got a few clouds painted, those still need some fiddling with .
Stained some tunnel portals, cut up a bunch of cardboard strips on the table saw for scenery and even got a wee start on weaving/gluing some in place. This cardboard webbing is a whole new adventure for me so the jury is still out.
Anyway, an all round semi productive day

Got up at 6:30 this morning, killed off a coffee pot and some breakfast cheesecake thingy then started painting. Got 2 coats on the walls before we had to shower and leave for the in-laws house, had a nice Easter dinner with turkey and all the trimmings, then watched a movie with them. The entire time my back muscles kept getting tighter and tighter. By the time we got home, I could barely walk straightened up. SWMBO put some muscle cream on my back, the gave me a pill to take. I asked her (after I swallowed it) what it was. Oxycontin with Tylenol . Interesting, save you the trouble of swallowing 2 pills! But at least I can walk!
Still, no train time today, and tomorrow looks bleak. I'll paint the crown molding and toe moldings tomorrow. Also I need to cut and install shoe moldings aroud the baseboard units. Previous owner installed new flooring, but left a big gap by the baseboard heaters!! Maybe trains on Tuesday?? Maybe!
Hopefully, I'll have the 3 Midland GP9's done by next weekend. Bodies are 90% finished. So close, yet so far.
Prayers for Ulrich & Petra, that they had a great Easter

Spent the day outside BBQ'ing up some ribs and other such delectibles for the neighbourhood adults while the kiddies were enjoying their easter delights....
My main computer is my 12 core Xeon chipped thingee....with 32 Gb of ram....I use that for my music.

Spent a couple of hours railfaning today. I thought traffic might be pretty light considering it's a holiday, but we saw 7 trains in two hours, which is about average. Two unit trains, a petroleum crude oil and an empty coal train, one intermodal and the rest were very nice mixed freights.
Came home and took a little nap. Tonights dinner was ham, baked potato, cole slaw, butterscotch pudding and a bottle of Reisling. I'll rest now until the season opener of "Game of Thrones" comes on later this evening.

Speaking Of Vince's. I got the OK 2 SD 9 fixed! Soon as I sat down and starting looking for problems, I saw it! Rear worm gear had pooped off, all I had to do was push it back down with a screwdriver tip! Did not even have to pull the weight.

Good afternoon. It's 56° here and very wet. There's a severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 8pm.It's going to be a while probably before I'm back online full time. My computer died last night. The processor popped and on it's out it was kind enough to short out the main board. Fixing it will likely cost more than buying another computer. Thing is many of the systems I see in the stores have a bunch of cheap stuff in them and come with stuff on them that I don't need. I've seen some that are nice looking and have a good price but come with cheap memory sticks and slow processors. A good example is this computer I'm using right now. It has a halfway descent main board but it's hog-tied by a slow dual-core Celeron D processor. It runs at only a quarter of the speed that mine did and photo pages take a while to load.See y'all the next time I'm online.

Finally took the new BLI T-1 down to the train room for a test. Could only run it a few inches in each direction because the curves (as expected) are to tight for it. So this is added incentive to get busy on the new bench work and laying 22" and greater radius track. My ONLY complaint with this loco is trying to get that teeny tiny connector from the tender pushed into the loco with my eyesight. Guess that is more an issue for me than with the loco.
QUESTION for any Kato (HO) Unitrak people: Are the manual #6 switches ready for use on a DCC layout, right out of the box? Have decided not to mess with electric switches on the new layout.
OK, back to work in the train room I go.

We will eat early ourselves. Then take the rest over to Inlaws for them to eat. 2 plage with plenty of food. FIL used to complian there wasn't enough when we brought only plates {he eats like a pig when I cook}.SO now he complians I put too much on the plate.Oh well, he will have some for later!
I shall be busy busy busy. Maybe I get MOH to do something...maybe I foist off the potatoes.

Just got home from Easter Service at Church. Great service, very inspiring! Recharging the car at the moment so the batteries will be full when I leave an hour from now for Canandaigua to go to Easter Dinner with my sister and others in the family. My son, DIL, and Granddaughters will be there and so will at least on of my SIL so hopefully my sister won't get on with her "How Awful Christians Are" rhetoric. I personally respect all faiths, but practice my own... I'm even nice to her at times!
Barry sent over some clouds from his part of the planet for today, but so far just a bit gloomy out there, but the weather people are forecasting rain for this evening. It is currently 53°F outside with a high of 51°F later. Well, that's what they say on the weather channel!
Don't think trains will be on the menu for today as I will be out at my son's house for DIL's families celebration dinner tonight.

SEAMONSTER, That is really a funny story! Reminds me of years ago I had a PA speaker under the hood of my old pickup truck, It was hooked up to a CB radio. My brother in law and I use to key up the mic next to the speakers on the door while The Blood Hound Gang CD was playing, (They make lot's of strange - gross noises) Anyway people waiting for the bus or going into a store etc would look around with the strangest looks on their face trying to figure out where the sounds were coming from. We would laugh our heads off... also had tons of fun with it, when we picked up my son from Jr High school. The kids got a kick out of it but my son usually ended up laying on the floor of the truck trying to hide.

Got the “what’re you doin?” call right off the bat yesterday. Soooo…off to Walmart to pick up much needed and yet somehow forgotten supplies for the Easter Egg hunt WHICH by the way went over well despite the cold, overcast and windy 54 degree day. That took almost all day between setup and tearown. All in all was good though with many happy children and of course those two who always roll up and express their dislike. I’m sorry, registration for the bikes was clearly posted as 12 to 1:30. So, just because it took you til after two to get here from Springfield, you missed registration. It doesn’t matter that the Easter egg hunt didn’t start until two…there was no registration for that. I’m sure you do think this is male cow excrement, but that child over there 10 feet away probably didn’t want to hear you voice your disapproval. “Now move on, you’re pestering me”. Always gotta be one or two “concerned” parents. Funny, no one seems to know or to have ever seen these folks before.
I best get movin before I run late.
