Evening All,

I know, I know I said I had a closing shift, but after the dr appointment, I was not feeling great, so I called in sick. Doc wants to ween me off the meds for my knee and see if the pain stays away. I think that is a good Idea, as the meds are not good to take for a long period of time.

Even though I was home I did not feel like w**king on the layout, maybe tomorrow.

Evenin gang!Cowboy

Flo, just a cold soda for me, and maybe some Aleve if you got it. back has been killin me since yesterday. Might have something to do with the 5 inches of wet snow I shoveled off the driveway. Don't know why I bothered, it all melted today anyhow!Wink

Consequently, don't feel like sitting hunched over the workbench,so the triplets are still now finished. Tomorrow is the viewing, then Thursday the funeral for my friends wife. Good news, his son came home from the hospital today. They had to remove his spleen, perform emergency surgery on his colon, he has a broken jaw and 2 damaged vertebrae in his back . He'll be in a brace for 8-12 weeks. Last year he had surgery on his face for a sports injury. poor kid.

Chochowillie, What model Botchmann and which DCC system are you using??

Wazzup with Ulrich??

Gonna limp my butt over to the Rivet Counter, maybe an RBF will help??

By the way, are you intrested in a Campbell Kit of the Black Bart Mine. I have one and don't need it if you want it. It's a solder together kit just so you know.

If you don't want it I'm sure I can do something with it.

Thanks Jeffrey, all of the wires are connected correctly. Triple checked. I wondered what those extra components were below the motor were for. Ok I'll set CV08 to 8 and see what happens. I'll also check the continuity from the wheels to the pickup wires. Will holler for help again if necessary Jeffrey.

Are your eyes doing any better? Sure hope so. The Sundown Shops can't keep up production with that going on.

Cheers

Track is fine. Super Angry Now what? Check the motor? Check the wipers, clean the wheels?????????????

Black wire to left pickups, red wire to right pickups, orange wire to top of motor, gray wire to bottom of motor, blue wire to front and rear lights, white wire to front light, yellow wire to rear light. Make sure the system is set to the locos address. If address is 03 (3) set system to address 03, If it doesn't work you can try doing a reset. Set CV08 to 8. Whatever the locos address was it will be set back to 03 if the decoder is getting power. If still not working check all connections and try again. I've had cases in which some of the wires on Bachmann locos could break loose. You can also try cutting out the capacitors between the motors brushes. These have been known to cause some problems.

Howdy, howdy, howdy....

Interesting sort of day around here.  Finally got my sister home from her trip to Georgia about 12:30 today.  She had about 5 hours of very interrupted sleep over night, meaning she woke up every half hour to check the clock to make sure she didn't oversleep and miss the plane....  The feral cat came right over to see her meowing loudly all the way!  I think he missed his human.  Claude, her indoor cat was all excited too.

I came home and had to get to w*rk on the financial report for the MLK meeting tonight.  Also had to print off several lists of who we have sent to invites to for the Scholarship dinner.  Right off the bat a couple found a few that died during the last year and won't be attending anymore....  I just got home from the meeting and decided to catch up on the goings on around here.

Oh, Janie, a cup of decaf would be great right now.

I do hope that Ulrich will be back in here soon with tales of a new adventure.....  Keeping him in my prayers!

Ken take care of the foot like Jeffrey said to!

I'm gonna do some browsing out in the main forum for a few minutes and see what I have missed going on!

Later!

It's a miracle I tell ya! I finally got up the nerve to install a digitrax decoder in a loco. It was a Bachmann that came with a decoder installed. It worked for a short while then quit. So today I got the nerve up to take out the installed board and hard wire in a new decoder. Followed the instructions to a T put the loco on the track without the shell to test it and........ nothing, zip, nada. Dead as a door nail. Re-checked the wires, solder joints everything and still dead.

Track is fine. Super Angry Now what? Check the motor? Check the wipers, clean the wheels?????????????

HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP please.

I know you probably don't want to hear this but here it comes anyway. I had an ulcer on the bottom left big toe. It took almost two years to heal. It required almost constant attention and debridement but it did eventually heal up. The best thing you can do is keep it clean and well padded. The more direct pressure you can keep off it the better. I know. I've been there. It's the same battle I'm currently fighting with what's left of my right ankle. You've seen a photo of that so you know what a train wreck it is. You need to do everything you can to keep everything normal or you're going to be right where I am now and I guarantee you don't want any of that. Like I said, keep it clean, keep it padded. If you need to cut a piece out of the insole of your shoe/boot to take pressure off it then do it.

Jeffery, don't mind hearing that a all, it gives me hope.

Latter, Ken hole in the Toe again.

Well

Yesterday I typed a whole new page of updating, then when I hit "post" it blanked out! Dunno what all I was saying, probably not important anyway to y'all

MOH went to Dr. and due to blood in the urine, more or less confirm's MOH's suspecting a kidney stone. and got antibiotics for the sinus infection.

MOH starts next week as a volunteer in the hospital. will work the coffee shop and in admin. offices. They really rake one over the coals for the volunteer office!! Since our major references are out of the country at the moment, MOH called for another phone number of a friend who they could talk to. MOH even has a letter of reference form one o f the out of country-ers. They also send out questionnaires to listed references, and do a bunch of job checking. all for a few hours of volunteer work.

Tomorrow MOH will go to the Education training center to find out about getting into this fall's LPN program..may have missed the boat on that one already, as they stop taking applications by April 15, and MOH will have the placement/competency test, an interview and such to even get considered for the competitive program. Dunno what will happen,We got a lot of extra "trash " out in today's trash. I say "trash" because it mostly good stuff, but couldn't find filter s for the air cleaner for example, and the room humidifier works, just cheaper to buy a whole new filter less humidifier than to buy filters for that one we had. We actually have SPACE in the computer room, Now, If only I can get that in the train room again! Maybe I move trains to the computer room???nah MOH won't let me.

Back is starting to kill me often now, the next injections are the 11th, waiting for those! 2weeks away.

Well, now off to scrounge something for dinner...

Toe Ulcer this I was not excepting!  Wound is getting deeper again. Sigh Is this thing ever going to heal? While the toe looked clear of infection it is getting worse. I have been on my feet more and more than likely that is the reason why from what I was told. To be on the safe side while I was at the Hospital they had some blood test ran looking for signs of infections and X-Ray's of the toe to make sure the bone is not infected.

 Afternoon Folks

 Flo, Beer pleases.

VA Visit Health Front Sigh Well I knew some of this was coming. Sigh

A1C Test. I knew it was going to go up, I could tell by the way I was feeling. My last A1C came in at 5.9, this one was 6.7! Sigh I did some reading on line and found that most target for Diabetic is 7.0 or lower but I know I need to get it lower again. My wife had her's done a few weeks ago and was told that her 6.9 was normal! I did not think that was good then and I still don't.

It was all so confirmed that stress will cause my blood sugar levels to rise. Going to have to talk Tyler about the berating he had been dishing out.

Toe Ulcer this I was not excepting!  Wound is getting deeper again. Sigh Is this thing ever going to heal? While the toe looked clear of infection it is getting worse.  I was at the Hospital for 4 hours, then I had to go shopping. Pretty much shoot my Train Day In The Foot, so to speak. Well I am off Thursday, so maybe I will get the PK2 SD-9 going then.

Sure wish Ulrich would have had Petra too try to update us if he is was in poor health!

 See you all later, Ken

Good afternoon. Not a lot of activity today apparently.

Day is going pretty good. Plan on getting the nose of the P-38J done and getting it ready for the canopy. Will paint the metal details before adding it, and will then repaint the body from all of the body work done on it. Then it's decal and detail paint time!

***Gary, enjoy the Seattle Museum of Flight. I vaguely remember it now, just know that I enjoyed it very much.

***Jeffrey, hope your eyes clear up. Doesn't sound good.

My new 4-4-4-4 arrived yesterday. Won't have time to test it for a couple days. It isn't as large as I thought it might be, but sure is a heavy sucker. I couldn't remember which version I ordered, turned out to be the one without portholes. Too bad, would have much preferred the porthole version. Oh well, still a cool looking loco and will serve the same purpose on the future layout.

Almost finished a simple coaling tower kit, after not looking at directions and missing a key part.Dunce Had to xacto it apart to put it in. By the time it is weathered, won't notice a thing.

Have a good day all.

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and the fruit plate, forget the kiwi and heavy on the red grapes please. Thank you.

Temps got up to 40 yesterday and the sn^w has done some melting already. Today, Mostly cloudy, with a high near 37, looks to be the same. Funny, yesterday, the sn*w was at least a foot here, they say 17” in Springfield but with the drifting etc who can really say. But I’m saying here we got at least a foot. There is a 3+ foot drift between houses , but….anyway, I’m looking out the front window at my yard and the places where the sn*w was only maybe 3 to 4 inches tops….it's gone. I mean the ground is showing. We have had a LOT of melting yesterday. “Cept for the big piles, by Saturdays Easter egg hunt, you’ll never have known it sn*wed, but Mothers, bring their boots, it’s gonna be sloppy.

Ooops, sorry Terry,Embarrassed I knew it was your layout, don’t know why I said Garry. Great idea though. I’d have to have actual holders like Karl  said or I’d have them knocked all over.

Garry- Wok shelf….noooo sillyLaugh. (fans hand down) You know I’m not allowed around anything hot.

Oh my!Indifferent I about had a heart attack when Karl said something about the grandkids and a 320 mile trip next weekend. Whew! Glad he was talking to Garry. I don’t think I coulda come up with a way out of it in such a short time.Wink

I don’t know why I’m typing to him now cause it probably kills him to try and read it but…,

Jeff- I had scratched eyes due to contacts one time and the Army doctor thought it was Pink Eye until he did some tests, so I know how looking at bright, or really doesn’t have to be bright at all, light  feels to you.

Well, broke two shovels and the sn*wblower yesterdaySigh. Nothing serious on the choke and puff or whatever Ray calls it (chuckle), just the pin that ties the right wheel to the axle so I’m only driving with one wheel now. Wore me out! and I think I’ve loosened every bolt on the handles making the thing go halfway straight through the heavy wet stuff. And getting it up the ramps into the truck…Confused..whew! even though I was going slow, a couple times thought the beast was going off the ramp. Not suppose to make real sharp turns with the wheels locked together on concrete for just that reasonWhistling, but I’m too lazy to reach down there and pull a spring loaded pinDunce. Guess I did it one too many times. Can’t blame the machine when you are the cause and know it.  No biggy since I have all year to get it fixed and it’s not that big of a thing. Probably $15 tops. Oh wait, it’s John Deere so….what….$60? Best get the part ordered today…nah, no time today to go to Petersburg, maybe tomorrow.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

I did get a appointment to my doctor today for my leg that began to hurt and still does right now. I have great faith it will be better soon. After checking me out he decided its like lower back pain that sometimes comes, I have had that before only its my leg so he gave me a prescription for Etodolac which is pain pills with arthritis relief. With the computer age he sends the prescription to the pharmacy and on the way home and I pick it up. Since I'm on Medicare thanks to the 50% of Americans who have a extreme desire to pay taxes this whole thing only cost me a $5. copay at the pharmacy.

Stick out tongueLaugh you're welcome, could you paypal me back what they took in my taxes I gotta get some more Amtrak cars. Smile, Wink & Grin

Hi Gang,

Zoe,  when you have time, just a couple of oatmeal raisin chocolate chip cookies and a H.C. Please and Thank you.

Well, I got about half the snow off the roof, as far as i could reach and rake, but the problem is that once I get it down there is no place left to put it that isn't six plus feet high. I was at it for about 3 1/4 hours and I am feeling quite beat here tonight.

Think I will go and soak in the jacuzzi for a spell and then head for the sack.

I have to work about 6 hours tomorrow evening and then the next three days after that. So hope to sleep well tonight and sleep in tomorrow morning a bit.

You all have a good night, hope all the aches and pains have subsided some today and that you are all feeling better.

Good evening,

We'll get yesterday's CrunchBerries shipped-out tomorrow...Whistling

THAT Editor must be a content supervisory unit: it's layout day, and no panic-laden phone calls, no last-minute crisis. As for all the running around and content generation, THAT's just the price I pay for the life I chose. Actually, it turns out I'm the most reliable, consistent and prolific writer they've had. Darned w**k ethic! The sad thing is, THAT propensity to generate content has backfired on me on occasion. You would think THAT w**king your butt off would lead to...maybe something called, "a raise." Nope. Just the opposite: a cut in hours due to being too expensive! Mr. Boss and THAT Editor say they're trying to get Big Boss to increase wages, but since the economy is still very much in the crapper...I don't hold-out much hope of THAT happening. But, extremely flexible hours, the ability to w**k from home, the ability to more-or-less set my own hours, and mostly enjoying what I do keep me doing it.

Plus, being the only staff member on one side of the political spectrum affords me the opportunity to bring a little "balance" to the paper. Mischief

Speaking of w**k, so far it looks like a w**k from home week. I've already cranked-out a photo-heavy feature on a 5k run and a 1k walk from Saturday, even found the complete results and got THAT into my article. THAT'l make THAT Editor smile. I've got a potentially lengthy piece about the North Liberty Police Dept.'s war on drugs and a pair of spring sports preview pieces to put together. I'm expecting several more previews as I cover two high schools with boys/girls track and field, boys/girls soccer, girls tennis and boys/girls golf teams waiting for the s**w to go away.

Augh! All this talk of w**k is making me woozy... I almost feel a Maynard G. Krebs moment coming on! I think I'll go take a rest in a back booth with a massive RBF and a plate of double bacon cheeseburgers with a massive amount of fries on the side. Heavy on the cholesterol, with the trans fats and salt intact. You know, the way they used to make food when it still had flavor...

Hi Fellas,

Haven't been in for a couple days. Work is going great and busy so that means some overtime. I received my Canadian track side guide 2013 in the mail today. Going to stop by the hobby shop tomorrow to pick up some athearn parts and grab a couple cans of dullcote too when I'm there. I like to keep a good stock of the stuff on hand. Still not really feeling like spring all that much here as its still cool, was kind of sunny today but mostly cloudy. Easter will be cool this year too by the looks of it.

Well I'm going to go start reading my trackside guide. I recommend any Canadian rail fans purchase this book. Its loaded with tons of info.
