LSWrrDrain flies look like they have a half circle cut in their wings near the body
Really Lee !? I only assume they have wings only because they're flying around.
No seriously, you're probably right on drain flies. I'm usually kinda nervous about dumping bleach down any drain Brenda has access too. Well me too I guess. Usually a good sink full of dish water and a good rinsing with hot water does the trick real quick. But this time no. Saw somewhere where they said Oine-sol, but brenda uses Lysol so I figured cleaner was cleaner. I'll give it a day or two and then may use the bleach if they don't leave. (after a real good flushing of course) Thanks.

Good Morning!!!
Coffee and a sweet roll please. Thanks
Different day, same stuff. No need to say more. ( )
Checked the status on the tile this morn. Seems as if it shipped early. Status shows it is in transit to the springfield store. Best get ready as when it shows I’ll be grounded until it’s done.
Laundry is for all practical purposes done so it looks like if the weather is good like it’s supposed to be, or at least like they said yesterday, I’ll mow the yard. I’ve really been itching to get in the trainroom, but been putting it off until these other things are done. Lots to do in there. Oh my is there lots to do before I can even think about resuming any actual progress. But, because of my New Years resolution about finishing projects I start (and so far so good on that one, but not so good on the smoking) I don’t want to get started in there because I know what will happen. Other things will suffer. I don’t even check out WPF anymore because it stirs up the desire to get back to it.
Welp, best get to the Church and do the bookwork. Then back to the shower and I have to cut down the black raspberries and the peonies I haven’t cut down. And somewhere in there….maybe go see my Chinese girls. Haha. Went to another Chinese restaurant yesterday at noon othern the buffet. We've been there a couple times and it is excellent food. The waitress is Vietnamese though and speaks perfect English so beins how she’s probably about 20 she’s never seen Vietnam othern pictures I bet. Unless she is like a friend of mines wife who took extra classes to speak almost void of any accent. Anyway, I made the comment that though she is a good waitress, the Chinese ones at the buffet are better even though you can’t understand most things. Brenda says no, you just like them because they cater to you. I said my point exactly. She said she thinks we’ll take a break from the Chinese buffet for awhile. Then she said this place isn’t looking good either, did you notice she offered to refill your drink but not mine. I said your imagination. She said no, we both had half full glasses, she asked to refill your Mr Pibb, but didn’t my tea. I said, you still had a ¼ glass when we left. You didn’t need a refill anyway. She said it doesn’t matter to which I said, maybe not but what does matter is, I’m polite to them. You are…., how do I say…demanding and blunt. I don’t care what race, religion, language they speak or gender they are, they are human beings, not new privates in the Army. It’s just as easy to be nice as any other way and you see the result. Even works at the Walmart. People want to be treated nice and with some respect and they naturally, with some exceptions, will respond like in kind. EVEN…if they don’t know what you’re saying. A smile and the word “Hi” is universal. Oh, and when they bring you something, just like the guy at the Red Lobster, they also understand the words “thank you”. They like that too. You can tell by the kinda half shy smile they get when they say welcome. Probably also why they "always keep an eye on our table" as you say, or come running up as we’re leaving and waive saying “Thank you bie bie”. Because I respond “your welcome bie bie and thank you if they waited on us.” NOT, and I know I joke about it, because I want to take one home. Though it would be nice, I mean it worked so well on “The Courtship of Eddie’s Father”. Besides, I don’t think they would anyway. We don’t have a rice cooker. Unless you want one for Christmas. Well I’ll tell you what. I regretted the last few remarks as soon as I said it BUT, went to the Walmart and all was well. No silent treatment, no short words, all was normal. And when we got home, she dug through her recipe books, made a pot of Cabbage soup, a batch of oatmeal raisin cookise and a batch of molasses cookies and Ooooohhhhh they were good.
Which reminds me, here…..brought in a passel of each. Cookies that is.
Getting darker and just heard a little thunder. Sunny day may have hit a roadblock. Might not be mowing.
Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!
Good Morning all,
49F, Hi today 72F, Low 59F
I spent most of the weekend fixing the yard and the sidewalk. Tonight I should be able to take the police tape down….
I did go to the Norwalk and Western Train show in Lorain, OH yesterday. Mostly B&O RR items with some PRR and NW items available it’s interesting that different areas around here have different RR preferences. The Lorain, OH show B&O is popular and the most expensive, you travel to the Youngstown Show and PRR is popular and expensive, the Cleveland Show NYC is popular and expensive, Kirtland Show NKP is popular and expensive, and the Sandusky Show N&W is popular and expensive. Not sure why since B&O, C&O, NYC, PRR, W&LE, NKP, LS&MS, and N&W ran through all of these towns in the past.
I let Katje out this morning and she ran back inside and hid in her kennel and wouldn’t come back out. I couldn’t find anything in the back yard that would spook her; I mean really, she is a puppy and curios about everything so I guess there was something instinctively scary outside this morning.
Ulrich, respiratory issues are the worst; I hope you’re feeling better.
Ray, due to OSHA regulations only one person can ride my caboose at a time unless I install handrails and safety belts….
Todd, gnats or drain flies? Drain flies look like they have a half circle cut in their wings near the body and the only thing I’ve found to kill the eggs is bleach.
Curt did you get the K-9 cattle car?
Jim, the City of Cleveland owns and operates the water and sewer in my town so dealing with the City will not help. I went out there and fixed everything the best I could this weekend. I will be asking someone why I pay more for sewer and water than I do for Natural gas now. Last 12 months I paid $560 for Natural Gas and $618 for water/sewer. 2011 I only paid $240 for water/sewer and I complained about that.
Seamonster, I have a savings account with a Credit Union, but I hate to inform you that all Credit Unions are sponsored by a regular bank. I had an issue paying for internet service in the 90’s and found out the CU processed everything then turned it over to the parent Bank who actually transferred the funds to the internet provider and things got really messed up. I do think customer service is better with most CU’s but there are some really messed up CU’s out there. I had an account with a CU in Texas and I bounced a check. I immediately fixed the issue and paid the NSF penalties but the parent bank (Bank of America) put me on the bad check writer list and made a bad comment on my Credit Report then 10 years later I had to get a lawyer to have it removed to open a checking account in Ohio when I transferred. The crazy thing is it was the first time in 15 years I ever bounced a check and they went to General Quarters over a $15 bounced check.
Ken, Life-Like/PK 1000’s had an issue for 2 years where the wheels were defective on their locomotives and rolling stock. Somehow the wheels were cracking and causing the wheels to go out of gauge and squeal or constantly derail. When LL was bought out by Walther’s they stopped replacing the 1000’s wheel issues. One of the members of my train club bought a bunch of PK 1000’s and has been slowly changing all the wheels out with Intermountain replacement wheels. It’s sometimes hard to see the cracks but if you spray them with developer you can see them.
Curt, I was TAD to the Navy as a Tactical Law Enforcement Team so that’s why I was on so many different ships. Normally it was 60 days out 3 weeks home 60 days out for 3 years.

Good morning. It's 62° with 100% humidity. It'll be mostly sunny with a high of 88°.I hope to do some cleanup work on the layout today. I don't quite know where to begin. Maybe if I start with one thing it'll lead to another. Also need to get tractor and trailer up here to cart off the pieces that were ripped out of the kitchen cabinet. That's all piled up outside. I should be able to get it all in one load and take it down to the burn pile.
Good morning, Chloe. Bill's coffee looks good. I will have a large cup before heading to work.
Ray, The water looks good oozing through the rocks.

GOOD MORNING!!!
Holler ween is coming up, ghost and gobblin and witches, OH MY! Be afraid, be very afraid. SO:
Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid"
Meaning: Ostensibly, a warning that something dangerous is imminent. In reality, this is usually said with comic intent. The thing being warned of is more likely to be mildly unwelcome than actually dangerous; for example, "That fierce librarian was asking about your overdue books - be afraid, be very afraid."
Origin:This phrase originated in the 1986 horror film The Fly, written by the Canadian David Cronenberg and starring Jeff Goldblum (as Seth Brundle) and Geena Davis (as Veronica Quaife). The shortened expression 'be very afraid' was already in use in the USA prior to 1986; for example, it was used in the television series All My Childrenin 1970.
The plot of The Fly has Brundle as a scientist experimenting with teleportation. The scientist is brilliant but eccentric and, naturally, the casting director thought of Goldblum. Just as naturally, before we get far into the film, the experiments begin to go wrong.
Quaife is a reporter working on the teleportation story. When it becomes clear that Brundle is starting to turn into an insect, he pleads with one of the characters "don't be afraid" and Quaife's response is:
"No. Be afraid. Be very afraid."
This was used as a tag line in the film's publicity posters. They also used, "Half man, half insect ... total terror!" and "Something went wrong in the lab today... something very wrong". David Cronenberg, George Langelaan and Charles Edward Pogue were the writers on the film, with the storyline being provided by George Langelaan.
It is the imagery of portentous warnings from the Bible and literature that the film's screenwriters called on to give weight to the line; for example, Shelley's sonnet, Ozymandias:
"My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings: Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"
There are many similar examples from the Bible, including Isaiah 32:11-11 (King James Version):
"Tremble, ye women that are at ease; be troubled, ye careless ones ..."
Of course, 'be' and 'afraid' are common enough words to have appeared together many times before that, as in Macbeth, 1605:
I will not be afraid of death and bane, Till Birnam forest come to Dunsinane.
For the use of 'be afraid' as a stand-alone warning, we go back to the Bible. In Romans 13:4-4, in the King James Version, we find:
"For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil."
Twenty years has been long enough for the phrase to have been taken into the language, and it is now well enough established to have the shortened form of simply 'be afraid'.

Thank You Flo, want to guess what she handed me?
Work Front While nothing special happened today, it was pretty good day for me commission wise. Made a extra $54.00.Last week turned out better than I hoped. Had some reservations come in and they where not stolen from me. (Boy I glad Larry the crock is gone) So if I am payed my training time I made $640.00 last week.
Curt, I am sure I could brow a power supply, but it really won't tell me anything at this point. DCC system is working fine again? That is why I wish it would just plan break and stay broken!
Paul Like the rest of us here I am sorry to hear your wife is fighting an infection. By the way, what is your wife name?
Vince Thank you for the offer and I just might take you up on it. What kind of rolling stock would you be looking for anyway? Now if you where by chances willing to let go of that PK 2 SD-7 that could get you a lot of stuff from me! I bet I spent well over 20 hours trying to get my Rio Grand SD 7 back on the rails!
Does any one know where I can buy cheap Violins? Yes Ray, it is close to Violin chucking time! But keep them coming if you have any left. I just found a web site that sells used Violins cheap!
See you all after work Monday!
Good Evening All
Busy day today. Got my chores done early. Installed a second back deck light for the CFO and fixed the drywall on the back wall where I had to cut it to route the wires. At some point I need to repaint a bunch including hall and stairwells but not today. Watched the Giants game, DC has a real find in RGIII but the Giants won through in the end. In between and for a fair time in the afternoon I got some layout time in. Still doing the drops and buss for the DCC power districts. Cut wire, strip end and tin, solder to rail joiner, drill hole through layout, insert tube, feed wire through tube, remove tube from underneath, attach wire to buss, repeat.
Brave man repainting locos, Karl . I can never manage a good job on all the details and masking for the paint. Love to see a pic when you're done.
Sorry to hear so many still having health issues. I see the kidney doc Tues for my semi annual check over so wish me luck, CUL, J.R.
Wind is picking up and the temp is dropping, Fall is here in Western Nevada .
Thanks for all the prayers for my wife and I. She did not feel like visitors today, so I got some things done around the house, Got the sprinklers turned off, the dead batteries charged, the truck over to my auto mechanics so he can fix the brakes. And I even got some modeling in. Hope to get back to do some more after dinner. I made a meatloaf and french fries. I also have some venison in the crock pot for a nice stew tomorrow.
I will be getting to bed early so I can be at the hospital early to catch the doc's and ask questions. These guys get there at the crack of dawn.
Prayers to all in need.

I'm baaaaaaack!!
The body shell is about 90% stripped,,,,I'll let it soak about another hour then I'll pull it out,,wash it with soapy water and set it up to paint tomorrow. I've been procrastinating on the project for a while, its about time I get it in gear. A friend asked my to put sound in his 2 Proto BL2's. They are the same road name, but from 2 different production runs, and while 1 has yellow lettering, the other almost looked orange next to it. So 1 shell is getting stripped and decaled to match the other, plus they are both getting renumbered to match his modeling era. But Shhhhh! He doesn't know this!l He just thinks I'm backlogged!! He was even here the other night dropping off another engine for repowering and DCC sound.
Yeah,,,gotta get my butt in gear!!
Meanwhile, Chloe my dear, can I have some of the New York Cheesecake with blueberry preserves drizzled on top, and a cup of coffee, black, sugar only? I'll take it over to the corner booth and relax a bit!

And the Maple tree hasn't even begun to turn color yet,,,let alone drop leaves! Yet the neighbor across the street has trees that are a vibrant red, and dropping leaves all over my yard!! AAArgh!
Not to mention the Ravens lost (big time) and a Ford won the Nascar race today.... I put a body shell in and alcohol and glycol bath earlier,,,,not I'm afraid to go look at it!!
Ken,,,,,did you figure out your DCC problem yet??
Ray awesome rock work ,

Oh! I'm home... Finally can sit down... Didn't think I was going to be able to walk from the car to the house. Man! Am I tired! Chloe, I need a cup of hot decaf to start with and I'll decide on dinner in a bit. Thank you Ma'am.
What a day out at the museum, got there and found out I was doing train crew for the day. Had a huge crowd. Well over 500 people rode today as the total car count was over 1000. 50 or more people on every trip. Had 3 people almost fall getting off my caboose as obviously when I ask them to come down the ladder (steps) backward I must not know what I am talking about... Until they fall then it is somehow my fault. There were two of us working each caboose today and both of us on the Erie were starting to get a bit short om temper with people ignoring the safety rules. Lots and lots of little kids... There was a birthday party at the New York Museum of Transportation (our sister museum). No one got hurt so it was a good day all around.
Paul, keeping both your wife and you in my prayers during this time. I know all too well the ups and downs of cancer treatments! Each crisis is a new heart wrenching, gut grabbing pain for all those around the one with the disease. May the outcome be a good one for her (and you)!
Jim, yes the rocks are that color. The "real" ones are form a local quarry where you can get all you can carry for free if you laive in the area, and only use a shovel to take it. The rock is a form of limestone found in the Onondaga Limestone Deposits. It can (depending on organic content) go from a very light gray to almost black as seen here: http://www.geo.cornell.edu/geology/classes/RWA/EAS_210_new/photos/finger_lakes_area/seneca_stone_quarry/dscf0878.html One layer can be almost black and right above or below is a couple feet of light gray limestone... There are name for each layer. The pail I got from the quarry was mostly very dark and I decided to match it for the formation as I want to use some of the small stone pieces and talus around the rock faces. I think it will work well where I want to use it.
Going to go veg out for a while and... Chloe, I'll have a bowl of the home made Chicken soup please...
Later!

Afternoon guys
Been pretty busy the last few days, but I managed to get in a bunch of work on my train projects.
I managed to fit the P2K SD7/9 sideframes to my Kato SD40, then fit BLI SD7/9 sideframes to my P2K SD7. The P2k sideframes to the kato was relatively easy, just time consuming. Fitting the BLI sideframes to the P2K was kinda tricky. I did this by drilling and tapping holes for screws into the mounts. I also found a way to quickly build those stewart F-unit fuel tanks. Unfortunately, I have to get rid of the taper on the chassis where the fuel tank goes. And I have to do that for the 11 units I have...
Maybe today I will wire up and put decoders in the P2K SD7 and Kato SD40. I'm kinda tired though, and I would wanna get some different resistors for putting beacons in some of my other units.
Ken, If you're still having issuses with the P1K F3, I still have the 2 chassis I got from you. If you wanna trade some freight cars for them I'd take them.
I'll try to catch up here.
Vincent
Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
Good Afternoon.
Sunny out and 64F right now....went out for a walk around the neighbourhood and then went to the diner down the road for a bit.
Got some work done for the day..now I is all tuckered out...wonder why...
I suppose I should order some Con cor N scale MTL equipped trucks for my new cars. Here's a shot from my trip, a rainbow over BNSF's Wishram Rail terminal.

Went down and mowed my parents yard while it was still cool. At least I got that much done today. Now I'm looking at the layout. It has a bunch of stuff on it that got relocated in the kitchen tear down. My mind is screaming 'Clean it!' and my body is screaming 'OH NO YOU DON'T!'. I didn't get much sleep last night. So far the body is winning. I just want to pass out for two or three hours.
