Sam ... Thanks for the remark. All houses in the background are smaller than my HO scale trains. They were cheap, dollar store, knickknacks. I touched up the paint to improve appearance. The church was a Hallmark Christmas ornament which had dullcoat applied after minor changes.
Ollevon asked for a diner or restaurant near the tracks.
Pictured is an area of the layout I've been working on this hot summer. Because of the heat and humidity my wife says I need to stay inside. I can't ague with that idea.

I spotted it easily enough; it's just beyond the gas station - a pre-fab stainless steel diner building popular in the mid-20th century. There are still a few of them around.
Think I will pick up with the long gone. What got me started.This stated it.
While looking for HO scale trees I found this.

This is my worst mistake - my first layout. Constantly ducking in and out of the pit in the center,switches that couldn't be reached from anywhere,bad wiring,you name it. Also in an addition on the back of the house that I don't heat in the winter. It was geting pretty close to done when I tore it down and started over in the basement,but I'm glad I built it...I learned a lot from that mistake.\
