 Evening Dinners!

 Flo, Beer Pleases.

Far as Work Front I wish Dave would fire Crag.Today Dave confronted him about leaving early (before 9:00 PM ) to catch his bus. He informed Dave that he was not gong to miss his bus and and stand at the bus stop for a half hour or so for the next one! My self, at that point I would have axed him.

Next he complained to me about Dave and missing his bus. I said Craig I am on Dave side on this one! I have been closing every night now for 2 months, it is not my or Dave's fault you have to take the bus!

What really bugs me the most is he complains there is not training! Well in away I agree as you know from my postings. But, I will show him anything he wants to know, but he never ask and give up pretty quickly.

Jeffery I think it needs some oiling, I have yet to find the right spot so far. Love the engine and can hardly wait to get the decoder installed.

Curt Glad the pain in the calaboose is not hurting, hope you feel like your old self before the days off run out!

I am exhausted, so I see you all later!

Now that is a engine! Yes

Good Evening Diners,

We had a decent day here weatherwise with temps about 75F so I did get some yard work done.

Curt, glad to hear you are on the mend. I'm looking forward to seeing some photos of that turntable in action and I'll bet you're looking forward to taking them.

Ray, that CN mike was built in 1917 by Canadian Locomotive Company in Kingston. The 53% on the cab is the haulage rating that CN put on the cabs of all their steam. It just means the tractive effort is 53,000 lbs. CN had a lot of mikes and I sure remember seeing them in the late '50s.

Ken, with an attitude like that I can't imagine how that Craig could ever make it as a manager or even any sort of employee.  That 2-10-2 you got from Jeff is supposed to be a model of a CN T2a which was the largest steamer CN had with a tractive effort of 80,000 lbs. It only slightly resembles the real thing. While it did have a vandy tender the CN version was a lot shorter.

I did start painting the station I have for the N scale layout. It is just an Atlas station but painted it should look fine.

The days sure are getting long. It is 9:30 and just starting to get dark.

Hope everyone has a good week,

CN Charlie

Time for me to call it a night. Got a doctor appointment in the morning so that's the morning shot. Lower radiator hose on the van is looking good. No leaks. Goes to show that if you do it right the first time you don't have to do it again. I had thought about wrapping the old hose with duct tape. Done that in the past with good results. The hose was too soft so I decided mot to. New was the best way to go. No layout work today but I did run a train for a little while. The GP7's and GP35 got a good run. See y'all sometime tomorrow.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a decaf for the moment.

Cn Charlie, Yep, I knew all that!  She is my favorite locomotive so I know quite a bit about her.  Those Mikes have a balance, and grace that isn't matched by anything else out there IMHO!  They just look right!  Thanks for sharing the info with us!

Here she is coupling onto the 11 heavyweight coaches she was pulling that day in 2004.  She didn't even give us any stack talk (We were in the first coach behind her on the way up) climbing the almost 2% grades in places up the mountain.  The grade from Scranton to Tobyhanna averages 1% IIRC.

I have to get back down there sometime soon.

Barry, you are in my prayers for a smooth ride with the treatments this week.........

I still am wondering what what is going on with Galaxy???

Have a great one!

Good Morning Gang!

It is nice to be woken up by sunshine! It´s quite cold though, the night´s temperature was just an inch above freezing.

Zoe, just a coffee for me, please.

Where is Galaxy? I am deeply worried!

Curt - hope your get better soon!

Jeff - with all them dozers and excavators you ready to start your HO scale business. Nice models!

Flip - there are not only NOB´s and SOB´s in here, there is also an EBP bloke. Make that East of the Big Pond.

Ken - I am glad that Shaddy is getting up to speed again. Sorry for your ongoing work issues. This seem to be (beep, expletive deleted) place!

Barry - keeping my fingers crossed for the upcoming treatments!

Had a surprise call yesterday. A high school buddy of mine from my days at Bainbridge Island High School rang me up. As we haven´t seen each other for 34 years, there was a lot to talk about. He now lives in Boise, ID and is still equipped with that bright and shining charm that made him very popular with the girls back at Bainbridge High . We talked for about an hour, and I was busted afterwards. I have not actually spoken English for years now. I started out with my best Oxford English, which I had adopted during my work turn in the UK, but got back to that Pacific Northwest accent pretty quickly. It was tiring, though. I really must be getting older now.

Well, I need to get going. I have an appointment with my doc to talk about the still ongoing pain in my left arm.

Have a good one!

Good morning, or as good as Monday can be.

Cool and rainy here in the Northeast.  It was that way all weekend, and it looks like we've got a few more coming.  Oh, well, it's good for the lawn and it's great "modeling weather."

Got the wife her birthday present - a MacBook Air.  It was going to be a iPad, but in talking with the Apple people, we realized that what she really needed was to get away from her very old PC, so we went with this.  The Apple Store is one place where the economy is thriving.  I'm hoping that the more user-friendly system will let her do more of her own computer work, instead of depending on me and asking the same questions over and over.

Best wishes to all...

Good morning. It's 80° and partly cloudy. The high will be 95°.

Got the doc appointment out of the way. Have to go back in two months. Learned the results of the lab work done before. The A1C count was much lower. 10.1 down to 7.2. Cholesterol is 81. My blood pressure is 129/78. Heart health great. Kidneys are in good shape. Looks like I'll be around for a while yet.

No plans for today. I may get some layout work in later. I have a Lenz 1014 type decoder that needs to go into a loco. It's just a matter of selecting one from the available candidates.

 Morning Folks

 Flo, Big Diet Dew Please.

Today's projected before I go to work is to see what happen to my Blue Line RSD 15. It became a runaway last night. I posted in the DCC section and titled the post My Little Runaway. Mr B posted this.

As I walk along,
I wonder what went wrong,
With my train, the coal drag was so long.
And as I still walk on,
I think of MUs I've done
Together, a-while their bells were rung...

I'm a-walkin' with my train,
Round the loop, and then round again,
Wishin' it would stay by me,
To end this mystery
And I wonder--
I wah-wah-wah-wah-wonder,
Why,
Why, why, why, why, why it ran away,
Yes, and I wonder,
A-what CV,
Will end this runaway,
Run, run, run, run, runaway.

                            with apologies to Del Shannon

Laugh While it but a smile on my face, I cannot get the song out of my head now!

Galaxy, I wounder if he made the Post Master go postal on him and he got mailed to China? Hope things are OK for him and his family.

See you all a little later.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a short stack of blueberry pancakes, real Maple Syrup, side order of sausage, and lots of dark roast coffee to keep my R&GV RR mug filled for a while.

Just for you Ken:

BTW, Ken, how many faces do you have???  LOL

Another gloomy day outside here in the Finger Lakes.  Rain showers, dark skies, and a high of 59°F for the day.  Good day to spend down in the train room where I have some heat!

Have been exchanging a bunch of emails last night and this morning with a couple members of the MLK Committee here.  It seems we have a chance of some major $$$ coming our way from a benefactor locally.  Unfortunately the funds would be handled through a particular Bank that many people here don't particularly like doing business with.....  Right Ken?  I have already made it clear that I will not be the person dealing with them from the committee even though I am treasurer.  I will be glad to deposit any checks in our CU account, but THAT is it!

Time to get busy doing some other needed stuff!

Later!

Good Afternoon,

it´s raining again, not only outside, but also in my heart. First of all, I am worried about Galaxy. Something must have happened with him. He is overdue for nearly two weeks now. Let´s light up a candle for him to find his way home!

Second, I got a call from my Idaho friend this afternoon.  I liked talking to him yesterday very much, but today´s conversation was, say, a little awkward. He wants to win me for a multi-level marketing business, which deals in slightly overpriced "green" products. The type of business that promises you high incomes with virtually no effort at all. You all know the modus operandi "I started two months ago and I am now making a gazillion dollars a month..." This type of business is a borderline issue here in Germany. While not completely illegal, it is at least unethical, as most people have to chip in a lot of time (and money) to earn just a few bucks. He spent nearly two hours on the phone with me, explaining all the promising prospects of this particular business and how different and better it is compared to other (similar) business models. The awkward bit is how to say no time him without losing him as a friend?

I have a few days time to come up with an answer...

I got a queasy feeling in my stomach about it.

Afternoon all!

I'm still around, and still busy. School is done, but I've been tied up with other things, and haven't had time to make it in for a while. In addition to school, lacrosse is now over, so that exponentially increases my spare time. However, I've started working again. Yes, it takes up a lot of my time, but that's ok since it gives me money to spend on trains and other things.

High school is basically over for me. My last day was last Friday (5/24), and we've been doing the "End of Senior Year" festivities since then. We already had graduation practice and our senior barbeque (aka come into school and eat pizza during the normally scheduled lunch? hahaha) on Wednesday. Thursday was prom. We had a great time. Here's me and the girlfriend during pre-prom pictures:

Then, graduation is this Thursday, followed by Project Graduation immediately after. Hard to believe it's all over! Hmm

Well, I've got to go. I've got to get ready to catch a train up home (I'm currently down the shore and I'm headed up later today). As much as I enjoy taking the train, I must admit that it's a long ride that will take most of the day...

Gotta go- see ya later!

-Joe

Chloe, I'll have the Turkey Club Sandwich and a RBF for lunch today.

BTW, Ken, how many faces do you have???  LOL ? Ah Ray, are you confusing me with Jeffery?

Ken, I was referring to your post right above mine....  " Laugh While it but a smile on my faces, I cannot get the song out of my head now!"  I know it was just a typo, but It struck me as funny..... Laugh  I was thinking split personality maybe??? Whistling  Hope you get the trains running right soon!

Ulrich, I would just be honest with your old friend and let him know it falls into a very gray area and could even be illegal in Germany.  Let him know it is not something you want to be involved with.  If he is a real friend, he will understand and accept your decision.  If not, maybe he is not really a friend anymore..............

Joe, congratulations on Graduation!  Good to hear from you again.

I am seriously considering a lease agreement for the solar panels.  It is for premium panels (supposed to be the best in the business) runs for 20 years and includes all maintenance for the life of the lease.  The lease is transferable if the house is sold, and whoever owns the house at the end of the 20 years can choose to have the panels removed at no additional cost or buying the panels at fair market price.  The cost is about 65% of buying them outright with a 5 year maintenance agreement.

Got many other things to do I haven't even started to gthink about today....

Later!

Hi again -

Ken, glad you like the song parody.  The title of your post over there put me right back there.  I often listen to oldies while workin' on the railroad, and that's one of my favorites.

Ulrich, I agree with Ray.  Multi-level marketing is legal in the US, but it's really kind of a scam.  I'm sure a lot of people put in a lot of time and come out with nothing, while their "handlers" get the rewards.  If it's of questionable legality in Germany, that's a good excuse to give your friend, but you're right to avoid it anyway.

Seems like there's a lot of weather around, so may your power stay on and your basement stay dry.

Ken: Is analog mode enabled? That could cause a runaway. Analog mode is enabled/disabled in CV29 on the decoders I've used. Exactly which value depends on what company made the decoder. I use mostly Digitrax decoders so the default value is six. Turning the analog mode off would require me to change the value to twelve if using a two digit address or twenty-two if using a four digit address assuming a forward direction. If reverse direction is enabled then the value would be either thirteen (two digit) or twenty-three (four digit). Again this is for Digitrax.

Ray & Mr. B - thanks for your advice. I will let  my "friend" know how I feel about it. What puts me off is, that he is risking a friendship for this type of business. I have never met anybody who went into multi-level marketing and was happy with it.

Howdy ...

I'm concerned about Galaxy. Does anyone have a way to contact him?

Again. It's sad about Ed's passing unexpectedly.

I encourage everybody to reach out to the MIA's. I heard from Der John, and he says "Hi" to everybody. Things have been eventful for him recently, and he will get back here when he can. Also, heard from Ryan, and he also is involved with eventful situations. If you like his spices, you may wish to contact him again for that.

Joe .... That is great! Congratulations! Looks like you have a wonderful girlfriend also. Remember, Railorads like to couple up!

Ulrich ... I think your instincts are leading you away for that "opportunity". However, you and Petra may wish to consider some sort of business of your own. The two of you would do well in a small business I think.

A couple of you have expressed an interest in coming here to visit my layout, and that would be fine for others too. You can reach me with PM's.

Barry .... Prayers for you as you are being treated for cancer.

Curt .... I hope your health continues to improve.

Jeff .... Another doctor trip? ... I bet you could drive to the doctor office blindfolded by now.

Vincent ... A couple of days ago I was talking about a near miss with a possible car wreck. Such accidents of course can cause bad injuries, and I would not that to happen to you.

I see some great photos of full sized steam locomotives as well as trolley car. Keep it up!

I probably could if I didn't have to see to correct for the steering drift on my van. The steering is a bit loose so there's a six inch play. When the pitch of the road shifts from right to left or vice versa it can get interesting if I'm not paying attention. If I just drive without worrying about the corrections much it's fairly easy but if I try to correct each and every time it can get pretty hairy.

I´d never do anything which in my humble opinion is unethical. I come from a family with a long record of being civil servants with strong ethics.

I am, of course, desperately looking for a source of income, but I don´t think I am that desperate.

Too bad Petra and I can´t open up our own business here. It´s not only lack of capital which prevents this.

Folks, I don´t feel well in my skin these days. There is a sadness in me I can´t get rid of.

Good Afternoon!!!

Cheeseburger with bacon and all the fixins, onion rings and some of Ray’s potato salad which again, I have yet to try.

I wasn’t even close was I Jeff. Actually, it was obvious if I’d thought about it.

Yup is I. Got up this morning and did some things I needed to get done and here I am. Kinda proud I got started that early. But I don’t want it to, as the priests say, get into the habit though.

Office is cleaned up and I can move around freely.

Kinda breezing through the posts and haven’t yet read the last two pages so sorry if I missed something. I’ll catch it later when I get back. For now however, I must keep moving before I loose my gumption.

Ya’ll have a good day!!!!

Flow Diet Dew to Go please.

Getting ready to head to work.

Train Front Cant read the decoder while it is in the Blue Line. So I started looking for a engine that has a 8 pin socket. All but one have been hard wired or does not use a plug. Only one that still uses a 8 socket is a messed up E-6. Plug in the DZ 163 and decoder pro could not read it. So is it the decoder, or the engine. My guess I blew the decoder, but no burnt spots?

Thought I found the problem with the RTR Dash 9. Head light wire had melted to the light board. Fixed it and gave it a test run. Now I did have 6 other engines running at the time. After a few minutes the DB 150 shut down. You would think 5 amps could power 7 engines.

Sometimes I wish I stated DC, like today.

 See you tonight.
