As I said yesterday, I got my drivers license renewed. My new license photo:

Yeah, it's got about as much appeal as a road accident.

Afternoon folks!

Just got home from the birthday party for one of the cutest little one year olds around!  Got to chat with a lady who for over 30 years drove bus for the local schools.   She was also the mom of one of my middle school students when I first came to Geneva.  The birthday boy is her grandson....  She had become a good friend of mine back then and one of my strongest supporters!  It was old home day!

Now I have a couple hours before I have to put some better duds on to go to the ballet!  My oldest granddaughter will be performing in her dance recital this evening.  Can't miss THAT!

Who posted the wanted poster?  I would hate to be caught alone in the back alley with THAT guy!  LOL.  Just kidding Jeffrey......Smile, Wink & GrinLaugh

Jim, #2317 is a Pacific (the one on the turntable) and #3254 is the Mike.  The Mike is my favorite steamer...  Just a beautiful, powerful, sweet running machine!

Curt, glad you are doing better!  hopefully you can spend the time out of w*rk in the train room.....Smile, Wink & Grin

Afternoon guys

Well work was busy. I was supposed to leave at one, but got out at 2. I stopped by walmart on the way back and bought some goo-gone and easy-off oven cleaner.

F-unit update:  IDK if I'll use the oven cleaner. I tried the goo-gone to remove the crud left by the goof-off and it works really well because I can see a bunch of bare plastic. I found out that mixing the goo-gone with the abrasive polish makes a nice paste that does a really nice job of cleaning it up without effecting it shell. The best part is the addition of goo-gone into the polish allows it to just rinse off. I think the plastic may have been effected by the goof-off since it's kind of an orange-brown in some spots since I've been scrubbing it for about 10 minutes or so.  Maybe it needs more time, so I'll try it again tomorrrow. Still have to put in several part orders, and install them before I hit them with primer.

Jeff, Are you gloating? Road accidents tend to cause people to slow down and look, ya know Laugh BTW, tell David happy birthday for me. (he's another MIA)

Garry, Which averted acccident are you referring to? The 3 car ones, ot the saving of the F-unit shells?

Jim, The 5-minute epoxy is worth a try. I've found on other forums that a 50:50 mix of MEK and barge cement is supposed to be pretty much permanent, and I've gotten recomendations for microscale's microbond. (reminds me I need to order some stuff from them as well). I may have to do some experimentation to see what works best for me.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

That pic looks better than the last one they did. That made me thing the door at Angola had been left open.

Vincent: Yes I have been MIA. Between work and my college courses  and work helping fix up the house and yard I do not have much time for other things. Working in a nation wide scrap/recycling business as one of the higher up mucky mucks is not easy.

Ken: If Jeff told you something he sent is good you can take his word it was when he sent it. If something had a problem he would have  told you about it in detail and likely provided a list.

I was sorry to learn of Ed's passing.

Today is my birthday as you all now know. We had a nice small party on the back porch. Some grilling, some drinking, etc. Just me, my mom and dad and some friends. I got a new scanner/printer I have been needing. My dad gave me some gas money that should last for several months and he got me an appointment for my truck to be tuned up. I took Jeff some of the meat we grilled. He is not feeling good today probably from the antifreeze he was bathed in yesterday. Even after 4 scrubbings he still smells like the stuff.

Phil,

Yes I would be interested in seeing them. I was hoping to get up to Jon's next week depending on how I feel and he has not called to say the lights are done, but of course  I couldn't make it up there anyway right now. Take care.

Vincent:

I just discovered 90 second epoxy at our local hardware store. I don't know how long it has been on the market but it was the first time I had seen it.

It is a vast improvement over the five minute stuff. I used to get really annoyed having to wait for the five minute epoxy to set enough that the parts didn't have to be held in place. With the 90 second stuff the process flows quite smoothly without undue delays.

What I don't like about it is that it comes in a single plastic dispencer with two plungers and it is very hard to get small equal amounts out of both sides of the dispencer at the same time. That leads to waste, which is probably what the designer intendedAngry I got a lot more milage out of the old metal tubes.

Evenin' folks!

Janie just a nice hot cup of decaf please.....

Been a fun but very long and tiring day.

This evening I got to see my little Granddaughter #1 in her first dance recital!  She is really loving the dance lessons, and of course she was perfect (even though she missed a few cues and turned the wrong way a couple of times.....  Well I know most of you understand. Smile, Wink & Grin  She sure was cute in her little Tutu in the first of the two dances her group did.  The high school group was superb!!!

My foot has been pretty good all day, but has started getting sore tonight.  hobbled around on it way too much today....

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and the Sunday Breakfast Buffet please. Thanks.

Sunny, with a high near 82. Calm wind becoming west southwest between 4 and 7 mph.

Jim- Thanks for posting the pics of Robby’s. I look forward to his return. Also I noticed you mentioned ChefRyan. Glad to hear he’s still kickin I often think about him. I have yet to get more spice rub that I’ve talked about doing..

Anyone heard from/about PC?

Jeff- Actually, considering it’s a Drivers license photo, I think it is very good. Course, I have never seen you in person, but taking into consideration all the effects the DMV does to photos, I’d say, based on that picture……., you probably strike a resemblence to Owen Wilson. By the way, not to be nosey…Whistling.oh what the heck. Who am I foolin. To be nosey, Is Jeffrey Wimberly and Scott Running Bear two separate names you go by? Or is it a separation of one name. I’m assuming Running Bear is a Cherokee given name that you have adopted legally due to your Native status? Just curious as over time I noticed you use both and the use of Running Bear on your DL just peeked my curiousity

Well, didn’t get anything done in the office yesterdayConfused. First, after leaving here I dillydallied around for a bit (imagine that) then started to clean when the doorbell rang and it was the guy who was coming to fix the leaks around the vent pipes on the roof. Said the boot on the other one was cracking and drying out so he did both and reacaulked around the chimney where he saw a couple small cracks. $40 Yes. Can’t complain since I can’t seem to deal with heights anymore. Anyway, I stayed outside and picked up sticks for a while. I hate that River BirchGrumpy. Then Brenda called and wanted me to come in to town and get these concrete lions that somehow got loaded on the U-haul of sale stuff Bang Head. So I bip out to the farthest point away from us in Springfield to Super Duper Evil sisters and get to sit and listen to the collective IQ’s of a door knob go on and on about stuff and look at me and laugh as if I’m supposed to respondSigh. I just fake laugh back to appease them. That isn’t always the best thing. To be nice and polite that is. Some day I’ll have to tell you about the Chili Sauce Ick! incident (shakes head). After arriving there at slightly after noon, I sat and made it look like I wasn’t running away for a bit and then said I had to leave and get to cleaning on the office. Brenda then responded “so….you want me to come home and get the truck later then?” So I said, that I might as well just stay and she agreed it would be bestZip it!. So……got home about 8:30. Needless to say, I am siting in the same condition officew I was in for the last what, 3 days.Dots - Sign

Will try again today. But first………  Laugh

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have the #2 special, eggs over easy, bacon, homefries, and a double order of sourdough toast, please.  Oh yes, lots a dark roast coffee in a R&GV RR Mug to get me warmed up!

Another chilly day outside the door here in the Finger Lakes.  Currently 57°F with the high all the way up to 62°F along with some thunderstorms this afternoon.  Good day to go hide out in the train room......

Todd, glad you got the roof vents taken care of.  I'm very good at just smiling and nodding my head also.....  It usually is a better idea than getting into a long and drawn out argument with some relatives.  I find repeating over and over, "I guess we'll just have to disagree" works with some but not all.  One of my sisters insists THAT means I am trying to force my opinions onto her and will accept nothing less than my agreeing 100% with whatever stupidity she is touting this week.  You clean your office within 3 days....???Confused  I do THAT seasonably every couple years. Good morning, well getting close to noon here. It's 82° and partly cloudy. The high will be 92° and it'll be mostly sunny.

With the construction equipment I got yesterday I now have four excavators and five bulldozers (three Cat). Anybody got an extreme home makeover to be done? I already have a flatcar with an excavator and dozer on it. Guess it's time to make up another one. No plans for today.

Afternoon All,

Sitting here while MOH is running some errands. The pain is almost completely gone but still fighting the other issue I talked  about yesterday. The only other thing is that I get really tired frequently and take lots of naps. I feel bad that I'm now starting on week 3 and am still not worth much around here.

Phil- Check your personal conversations.

Ray- I'm happy you had a great recital with your grand daughter.

Nothing happening in the train world.

Everyone take care and prayers for those in need.

Afternoon folks!

Chloe, just a cup of hot chocolate to tide me over to supper right now.  Thanks!

I have been pretty much just been laying low today.  Didn't sleep well last night so I haven't worried about getting much done.  I did go down to the train room and put in a bit more rail...  Yard is almost done except for details, painting, and ballast.

Curt, for THAT other issue you mentioned, have your wife pick up something called PB8.  It is a capsule with a few billion good bacteria in it, much more than you will get from the Yogurt (same basic bacteria).  Take a couple in between meals and you should be up to par fairly quickly.  I get it at a Natural Foods Store around here, but it should be available at pharmacies as well.  I use it because a friend who is a chiropractor recommended it to me as something that often helps reduce symptoms of psoriasis.  It does seem to help a bit with it so i continue to use it.

Afternoon, Flo - I'll have the cheeseburger special, with cottage fries (and the ketchup bottle), and a RBF, please. Thank you!

Looks like we've been getting some culture around the Diner - dance recital, lion sculptures, and performance art for the camera at the DMV. Smile, Wink & Grin

Todd, good to keep one's mouth closed around some relatives, eh? Black Eye Glad you got the roof leaks tended to. Yeah As for the office-cleaning... well, I'll just say it seems like a lot of jobs around your place take a wee bit longer than planned (like most of 'em?)...Whistling

Jeff, for a driver's license photo, that's not too bad. I've seen much worse, I know. So does the L&A have a major ditch-cleaning project coming up?

Not much going on at my place today, though yesterday evening I got three boxcars done (2 Accurail and one Athearn). The  Athearn is a special edition (not sure what makes it special...), 40' D&RGW boxcar that looked like a Tuscan Red kind of color Huh? (all the other Rio Grande boxcars I have - I think - are more of an oxide red/boxcar red; but then again, they're 50-footers, so maybe D&RGW changed their colors before they went to that black-and-orange-and-silver thing...). The Accurails are a 50'er Uncle Pete (their version of boxcar reddish-sort-just-because-we-want-it-thisaways) and a 40' Santa Fe "Super Chief" boxcar. Nothing major newsworthy or anything... Wink

Found out that one add-on (ShowIP) I have had in Firefox does not play well with others. I kept getting notifications (from an outgoing request monitor app I have on my Mac), asking for me to authorize Firefox to connect to some website. Did some digging, and found that the last updateof the add-on (to 1.5) was sending requests for website identification to their server (not that bad), but in plain text where anyone out there might be able to monitor/read all my browsing history.Oops Supposedly, the newer version (1.6) fixes that, but I decided if the add-on was doing that behind my (virtual) back, I didn't want it on my computer at all, & I pulled the add-on. Sheesh! Grumpy Ah, well...

Aw, rats! Thought I was off w**k tomorrow (except for an intake assessment), but I just looked at our schedule, and I have to be in after all. Guess I won't stay here at the Diner quite as long as I'd intended.

Kinda wondering what has happened to Galaxy - Galaxy??

Prayers for all our MIA's, and for healing for those recuperating or starting treatments, plus for comfort and good night's sleep.

Blessings and prayers,

Jim in Cape G.

Evening guys

I've been snooping around looking for a place that has the majority of the detail parts I need for my F-unit project. Turns out Bowser has them, and most of the parts to replace missing or broken parts on my Fs. I didn't think it would be a whole lot, but I guess all those parts really add up. I'm looking at close to 200 for the 5 units I have. Not counting the others that I'll be getting from other sources (going to have 2 full ABBA sets). Maybe I should just work on 1 set at a time...

My brother's graduation party went well. The turnout was far less than my graduation party though.most of the family friends at mine have moved since then.

Ken, Check PMs

Hey guys.

Jeez, I work for a couple days and I have to follow a trail of stones.

Been working for a guy doing well work and cleaning out stuff. Cleaned out a transformer for ComEd. I can say that it is a enLIGHTening experience.

Tomorrow I'm going and picking up a cultivator tomorrow in theory. and then I think I have to take the cultivator through the field behind my house a couple passes and then take it back to the guy's house

I'll be in the cornerbooth for a bit

When in doubt. grab a hammer.

If it moves and isn't supposed to, get a hammer

If it doesn't move and is supposed to, get a hammer

If it's broken, get a hammer

If it can't be fixed with a hammer... DUCK TAPE!
