Today is Anzac day here in Australia. We remember all who fought and died for Australia and New Zealand in past and current conflicts.
After attending the morning service, I decided to extend my staging by 3 feet on one track to cater for my longest intermodal train. I also added another 3 foot yard track on that extension, enough for 8 freight cars, handy extra 'on layout' storage. I can now accommodate a 16 platform + 2 locomotive double stack train. The rest of the staging can handle around 50 cars + 12 on layout sidings/spurs.
Any expansion to the layout probably wouldn't be until the end of the year. The plan in my mind would add about 30' of mainline run. I would leave the existing staging to run the existing layout as is with a run through to the extension of the layout which would include just a couple of industries with most of it being country side running through to what would be a large visible staging yard of around 8 5-6' tracks with loco servicing facilities..
Anywho I've probably bored everyone there.

Yup, I’m using, or was when I was able to play with the thing, 14ga house wire for the buss wires. Oh, I don’t get the traditional red for hot, I suppose since it’s hot only when the control is on it should be orange, but then again, when polarity is switched the colors mean nothing. They will when I go DCC though. zawwiiiiing! Me thinks me uses18ga for the feeders. Been so long ago can’t remember, they are red and black respective to the forward direction of the loco.
Waiting for nephew to show up about 8 to check out AC unit that frozeup a week ago during the evening. Only used it once and that was on a night it was to rain and I had to w**k so I turned on the AC tokeep the temp down and not blow the place up with humidity. Must be a leak somewhere. He put an A-coil in a couple years ago so we’ll see where the leak is now. His Dad (evil twins husband) owns an HVAC business and are quite good. He sent some guy who no longer wo*ks for them over to install said A-coil and he didn’t do such a great job. He had had a few complaints so the guy didn’t last long. One of them guys that didn’t do things Rich’s way because he knew better, so Rich…., oh sorry, Rich is BIL’s name said if it is the A-coil there’s be no charge. No I don’t get free HVAC w**k. I don’t want it and made that very clear yeeeeeears ago. It’s his business, not just something we can do and I need his help. I’d feel as if I was using him though the prices are admittedly lower than you’d think they should be. For instance $200 installed for a 40 gallon water heater tied in with the existing one for a total of 80 gallons, WHICH when we had the teenage kids was a great thing for the MASSIVE use of hot water from a girl and a girl crazy boy. They washed clothes like I’venever seen and the showers they took….. I’m surprised they have skin and in hindsight if I’d bought stock in Dial….I’d be rich. His response when questioned about the cost? “Oh, it was easier to do than most so it’s cheaper” He is also about the nicest guy you’d ever meet. How he puts up with eveil twin is anybody’s guess. One of those high school romances that actually lasted.

Morning All,
Sitting here drinking a cup of coffee listening to the washing machine. I need to sweep the floors in a little bit. The 3 PRR yard pic's that I had ordered came in so I will put them up today. I also need to see if I can man handle the addition framing into place by myself. It's pretty light but large and awkward. I need to prop it up level so I can clamp it to the existing layout then attach the legs.
It looks like everyone recommends 14 ga wire for the buss. Unfortunately I wired the existing layout before joining the Diner and had read and was recommended to use 18 ga. I have not had any issues up to this point (knock on wood) and now I figure it would be best to keep with the same guage for the extension. I don't know if there would be any current/voltage issues attaching larger gauge wire to the existing buss.

Well, I ran to the grocery store {still spent more than I'd like}.
Used an $8 off of $50 purchase from the competition store, so saved some more.
Have $0.80 off a gallon of gas for about 17.5 gallons. THAT is a savings too. That's about $14 savings!
Went to do banking so later I can pay bills. My check is in.
Started a savings amounting to 10% of net of MOH's paychecks. RIhgt now slim pickin's in that department as fiscal yr is ending so everybody CUT CUT CUT on hours and ordering supplies. Been saving from APril's first check. We have bills but must save something too. I hopefully can back track to Jan and we can put into Roth IRA.
Due to extra HEAP allowance we are owed $450 from the gas and electric company. We don't owe for this month, so I will take advantage of it. We usually go to see that clerk at NYSEG to charge us money when we don't owe anything! That way we stay ahead of the game and have had the same stable payment of $100 for 3 years all year no matter what we use. It DID go up to keep up wiht increased electric rates by a whole $10/mo, so now $110 a month for gas and electric.
Have to go chew out the Post Office later after a nap. DIdn't sleep well last night and "over slept " this AM from when I usually get up. Slept til 6:30, MOHhad to get up for work but let me sleep knowing I may not have been feeling goood, adn I didn't. The PO is errant in delivering our bills and mail to OTHER adresses..when our address is PLAIN on the envelop! NO reason for misdirected or lost mail... and the PO wonders why people go to online bill [paying eliminating the paper and PO service!!! If they GET IT RIGHT there would be little problem. ok..i will blow my top now,. I hope I am civil to the Post Mistress at our local office!!!
When I came barreling in with grocery bags they knocked over my BAltimore & Ohio Passenger cars and other B&O car boxes stacked up in front of the table top layout! Fortunately they are secure intheir boxes so no damage,but may have to move/store them someplace else!
MOH has short day today at work, then off to visit InLaws.

Because both of us woke up early this morning, we decided to go to our local diner for breakfast. Like Ray, we had pancakes, sausages and decafs. But unlike Ray's, our Maple Syrup left a little to be desired. Oh, it tasted okay, but when it pours out of the container with the consistancy of water, I question its make up.
It's a nice day here in the "Burg". Sunny and in the mid forties. A landscaper was suppose to be here today to strip the front yard and lay in new sod, but he called last night and said he was backed up because of the rain the last few days. Bad news for us is it is suppose to rain the next couple of days. Have no idea when he really will get to us. If the new sod had been installed today, rain over the next few days would have been perfect. Oh well, things don't always go the way we hope.
Cleaning the dining room, living room and foyer is on my schedule for later this morning. The wife will probably not be able to help much as she is having some problems with her leg and ankle. I will call and make an appointment with our primary care doctor today. We are both behind in seeing him for our usual follow-ups. I think he will probably send her back to the surgeon.

The wife just told me we are having pork chops, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and kielbasa for dinner tonight. Well, menus like that is another reason I keep the old girl around. And yes, I will be opening a bottle of Riesling from Seneca Lake to wash it down with. I will go to bed tonight a very happy puppy.

Did not get out of the shop last night till 10:00 PM. Then I need time to wind down so I did not get to sleep till 2:00 AM. Starting to kick my butt. Pretty tired right now, think I will nap before going into work today.
Friday will be my 6th day straight, with Larry being gone will more than likely have to work Saturday and Sunday as well.

It Appears we have been called on the proverbial carpet, So I apologize to anyone who might have been offended. If you missed it, you didn't miss much so I won't bore anyone with the details.
Now that the errands are run, the free bread {not to mention a delicious apple crumb pie} has been picked up, and the mail brought in and processed, I think it is time to wind down. Nothing but bills to worry about.
We got a mailing from DISH network satellite TV but it looks that if we want all the channels we now enjoy on cable, that we will have to pay what we do for the cable TV, so no bargain there. I am sure that the other satellite network charges the same for the same channels. It really has little to do with supplier, but more with what the networks want to charge for access to their station. Every calendar year Time Warner Cable has airings about how the networks want more money and they will drop them ro raise rates...contact the network and tell them NO to the price increases. SO I am NOT surprised that Dish network is NOT cheaper than cable and if I was to pay the price for TV, I'd rather have cable. SO we stand at reduced cable channels to fit our budget.
Hopefully next month after fiscal year ending for the stores in the chain, there will be more hours for MOH, maybe not. WE can only hope. taht wil ease our needs.
Still thinking about a simple ceremony for our 10 year anniversary and renewal of vows. Cake, coffee and tea afterward the ceremony for a few special people will be nice. Now where to get the money for an additional homeymoon...? We went to Hawaii for our first, and would like to go again, but not in the cards now. It wasn't right after either..it was 3 years later, but all paid for upfront when we went. MAybe for 15th. By 20th we may have moved to Hawaii to retire assuming the parental untis are long gone {passed on}.
Well, MOH is resting and I think I go join with the putkins {cats} too.

Just got back from a long day at work. I have some time to myself before I go off to college (again). Tomorrow I got off, so maybe I'll finish up some MR projects.
Maybe I'll do some more of this:If your wondering, I kind of combined Robby P's fade coat idea with Jeffery's cheap paint idea. I wound up using thinned rustoleum flat white through my airbrush. The paint costs like 4-6 bucks for a pint, which will last a very long time. What do you guys think of it?
On another note, my new puppy managed to get up on the desk with my pastel powders (remember the BNFE reefer?). She managed to chew up most of them, so I have to get some new ones (I use use the pastel sticks). She also managed to steal a bagel off of my father's plate... I'm gonna have to train her to stay off counters.I have to take her to get fixed on friday. Are female dogs supposed to calm down after that? She's pretty hyper, but maybe that's just from being a puppy.
I'm also stuck on what breeds she is supposed to be. I know she's mostly german shepard, but I highly doubt she'd be 100% german shepard because she was a wild dog. I'm thinking part lab, based on the shape of the head. Does anyone have an opinion on what breeds she is?

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
Vincent: Nice work on the boxcars. Maybe someday I'll be able to get my hands on one and be able to see your work firsthand. MNS? Is that Dan Patch Lines? I like your method of doing the fade. Glad somebody could make use of my idea of using cheap paints even though the Rust-Oleum is a better product than the latex paints I use. After filtering and thinning it makes a descent fade too. I buy mis-tints at 50¢ to $1 per seven ounce can. One can lasts a long time. In earlier years I sometimes had problems with cans rusting out over time. With these plastic containers they use now I don't have that problem.
Well my father got home from work but had to go back after lunch. He had stopped off in town for a shopping spree at Wal-Mart for some things they needed so by the time he got home and put the stuff away he had barely an hour for lunch before he had to be back to work. So naturally it fell to me to make lunch for my mother. Today I made her home-made chicken soup. A quarter pound of ground chicken cooked as a patty with no oil or butter then chopped up, added in 3/4 cup of chicken stock, a diced onion, a handful of pasta twists and a can of low sodium V8. A little Mrs Dash seasoning and it was ready. Now she wants to know how I made it so she can make it in the future if she's able too. My father paid close attention to what I was doing while he was making his lunch so he knows how to make it now too. Gotta go back over there this evening to make her dinner. I gotta find something to sit on when I'm working at the stove. Standing there was agonizing. It's not easy standing for an extended period with all your weight on one leg and that leg with a weak knee. If you don't believe me try it sometime. If your knee is good then bend it a bit. That'll put the required amount of stress on it. Right now I'm just sitting at home resting.No work on the layout today. The most I've done so far is look at it. I haven't even turned on the Zephyr.

Evening All,
Not much happening this way tonight. MOH got home early from a MD appointment. Made spaghetti with ground chicken which turned out better than I expected. I got the wood framing up for the extension and laid the plywood on top of it. I laid structures on the plywood where I am probably going to put them. I also got the 2 short GP-7 videos loaded from the museum.
I found a electrical supply store pretty close to the house so I will check them out for wire tomorrow.

Went over to get my mother her dinner at 6 pm. It was simple. A tomato and cucumber salad with a little Italian dressing and some salt-free crackers. I was going to stay for a while so I cooked up a steak and fries for myself. Added a couple of cap fulls of olive oil to it to wake up the flavor. My father came in from work at 7:10, drank a glass of milk and the last I saw of him he was heading to the bedroom in the east wing to see what his pillow in bed was doing. My mother was still up when I went to leave at 8:20. I locked the doors in both the east and west wings and let myself out and came home. She'll go to bed when she feels like it or go to sleep on the couch. Not the first time for that. Tomorrow I have to take her to a doctors appointment in town. My father should be home by the time we get back and he can take over. I've been on my feet today far longer than I should have been but what can I do? If the open sore on what's left of my ankle starts getting bigger instead of smaller I'll have to call a halt to this and do only the bare minimum I can get away with, which isn't much.Well, time for me to call it a day. I'm gonna go fall into bed now. See y'all sometime tomorrow.

Work Front Another late night Madhouse tonight. Had some sweet but problem customers. High lite was at 9:25 PM. Got her done and she said "well it is time for you to go home now'! Told her I wish, I still have to do the paper work, and clean the bathrooms, customer waiting room and mop. Would you believe she offered to stay and help me clean up? Customers like her makes a Bad Day worth while! She put the biggest smile on my faces!
Did not get out of the store to 10:10 PM, had to stop at the store to get butter for the wife. Did not sit down in front of the computer till 11:00 PM.

My test in my college class went well. It went wrong when I tried to save it. I ended up overwriting another assignement... I decided to call it a night there and work on them tomorrow.
Jeffrey, Thanks. I'm not 100% certain what you mean by your second sentence, but I still have those cars you were intrested in. It wouldn't be much trouble to bump them into the next batch of cars I weather. I think the MNS is Dan Patch lines, and not the newer progressive rail which has a similar sceme. I kind of remember Robby P's (say, where is he?) doing an MNS car that was mostly a light fade. If I could find a pickture of that one I'd probably finish up the car using his as a base.
Actually, I think you have had one of my weathered cars for a few years now. I seem to remember sending you a P2K Southern Pacific 50' boxcar. IIRC It had full height ladders and a silver roof but no roof walk. Granted that was a few years ago, and I'm pretty sure I've improved since then.

I see no one has commented on the puppy of mine. I'm guesing german shepard and lab is correct, but not sure.

All I see is a cute puppy, granted mostly german shepard, but I am no expert on dog breeding. (Sometimes when my son acts up I think I am no expert on human breeding either!)
I do note that her ears are down, which is not a bad thing - she is simply showing that she knows who the alpha male is. That should make for a pretty trainable dog. Without meaning to preach, with a little knowledge and enough repetition you can have a fantastic dog. If you aren't sure of how to train her yourself, you might consider signing up for classes with a local trainer. Our municipality offers dog training courses with good instructors at great prices.
Our old Jake (long since deceased and also a german shepard cross) would walk by my side without a leash. When other more agressive dogs walked by he would simply sit off to the side of the sidewalk far enough away that the offending animal couldn't get to him and wait for the nuisance to pass. He was not perfect by any means but he was a "good dog" in the best sense of the word. He did have a penchant for escaping the back yard to go exploring the neighbourhood, and we never did figure out how he got out! However, he always "came" when called.

just a short visit to say I am still around, alive, but not really kicking. I am caught by a deep down depression, resulting in panic attacks and a loss of energy. I can´t leave the house without my heart starting to race, causing dizzy spells after a little while.
No MRRing or anything else at the moment. There is little hope for a recovery in the foreseeable future.
