Flo, can I have another beer pleases?

Rob, you really think she would like it? Cool When I was single I used  old racing slicks with rims for a coffee table, had glass cut to fit the top. I love it and so did my guy friends, females on the other hand, well you know.

When I first moved out here, I had a townhouse. Complex manager (female) came in to do a inspection and just about had kittens! I had a 440-6 Barrel (Dodge would called it a 440-6 Pack) sitting in the kitchen. Block and heads had been hot tanked and block and heads where painted, carbs rebuilt, so no gas and the engine had not been built yet. No oil, pistons, crank or oil pan. But she just could not understand that it was clean. Had a pretty good fight with her and finally told her show me in the lease where it says I cannot have Art in my kitchen! That threw her for a loop. Fight was still on, but I won.

Got some of the clean up done on the back patio, filled a 30 gallon trashcan with leaves and such. Still maybe 3 more cans to go, but it does look a lot better. Got the table but together so Sue is happy.

 See you all latter. Ken

A little late for pure caffeinated coffee, so make it half & half, please.

***Ken, go ahead and get that cool coffee table, just hide your baseball bat where the wife can't find it before you show it to her.

***Curt, great job on the weathering and stuff.Thumbs Up

Only sold one peacock today, which covered the helpers wages. Will have him out one more day to finish catching up on crucial fence repairs, then that's it. Wish I could afford to keep him working here, just can't do it.

 Afternoon Folks

Flo, why thank you dear for the Beer

So far today has been pretty much a waste. Tried to sleep, but could not get there. Did get a big trash run done, so that is something. Have a few Brew's then off to the back patio.

Thinking about getting a new coffee table.

Think my wife would like it? Big Smile Think it would be a great surprises! Cool

Speaking of tables, got to put the new patio table together for her.

 Later, Ken

Afternoon All,

WelI got my chores done early so I worked on the 40 ft gondola then ran a train for awhile. I also tried shooting several videos of a train with weathered cars but I didn't like the way they came out. Tomorrow I am going up to Flip's train store to drop off a RS-1 to have sound put in since I have accumulated enough cash to have it done.

Jeff- I like the idea for the abandoned spur.

Seamonster- Happy Anniversary.

Take care everyone.

Darren ... Did the caboose make a wrong turn?

GARRY - Considering it's sitting in Parker, CO it took a wrong turn somewhere.  Parker, CO "was" home to D&NO 1881, DT&G 1886, DT&FW 1887, UPD&G 1890, and finally C&S 1898 until abandonment 1936.  It's sitting outside the D&NO Model Railroad Club building that a friend from work told me about otherwise I would not have know it was there ( 39°30'59.50"N / 104°45'46.00"W).  At least it has a home that is not a scrap yard!

Jeff ... your Sundown Shops are so talented. Here's a challenge if you feel up to it. Look at this photo. How about a model of a locomotive with service doors open?

http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u171/dgbseh/Pictures%202012/SD9service.jpg

Nope. Others can do that kind of modeling if they want. The fine cutting required is beyond my ability and I don't have the patience or spare parts for it. Now, an F unit cut open to expose the interior? That I've done but it was many years ago.

On the subject of blood sugar and such. Back when mine was first getting out of hand sometime back in the mid 80's diet was enough to control it. I'm a type 2 diabetic. As time went on my body slowly became more and more resistant to insulin. It got to the point that diet and exercise didn't help anymore but actually made the problem worse. I had to start taking medication in the late 90's. That worked for a while. But the problem continued to worsen so the meds were upped and the body upped it's resistance as a countermeasure. Insulin was the next step. Small amounts at first. That helped a bit but it seems the resistance and other problems just become worse. I'm currently on pills (glypizide - 10mg twice a day) and insulin - 100 units a day. If you think that's fun take it from me, it's not. It's gotten really bad in the last ten years. I have severe neuropathy. It effects my arms from the elbows down and my legs from the knees down. A disorder known as Charcot Foot in which the bones of the feet are severely effected. I have no feeling in my feet and very little feeling in my hands not to mention numbness in my arms, legs, chest and the left side of my neck and face. I've had to battle the effects of nerve problems (mostly the language areas of the brain were effected and some motor functions effected) all my life because of a near fatal bout with spinal meningitis when I was a kid so this additional neuropathy really knocks me for a loop. My immune system has been weakened and I'm prone to infections. Five times I've tried returning to work in most cases doing light work and all five times I landed in the hospital, two of those times near death from massive MRSA infections. I have days when I can get around OK and other days when I can just get out of bed. Diabetes isn't fun and I wouldn't wish it on anybody.

Strong coffee in an extra large, BigBoy steam loco  UNION PACIFIC  mug, please.

***Galaxy, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your other half!

***Seamonster & other half, a Happy Anniversary to you both!

New worker showed up early today. That's a good sign. Older gentleman who doesn't need babysitting and is a strong worker. Might need to have him back for a second round. Well worth it.

This toe is hurting again from running supplies back and forth today. Trying not to overdo, but not that is not easy. Owie!

Have a good day all.

my Other Half, like a star ont he red carpet at the Emmy's, graciously accepts all well wishes from the audience.

It has been decided we are going EYE-Tahl-IAN for dinner out at Tony's Restaurante and Pizzaria. Lasagna is on the menu and is what is desired! Plus a glass of Vino {and then the veritas {{Truth}} will come out}

SO now that that has been decided, the clothes for dining out are in the dryer...just casual clothes. Mine in the 3XL category, and MOH in the L-XL category. Boy have we "grown" {the wrong way} since we got together 12 years ago and since we got married 10 years ago.

It turned out to be a nice day today. Warmish but not to warm. better than cold!

Well soon my serial TV drama show will be on so I shall check to see if the neighbors are home wiht the bread give-away. I didn't see much for them to give away at the store this AM whne I was shopping.

Have a delightful afternoon all..

Seamonster

 howmus:

Blood sugar was once again higher this morning after a 12 hour fast than it was last night two and half hours after I ate....  I dunno?  Wasn't terrible, but still higher than I expected.  Maybe it was because I tossed and turned and didn't sleep well.

My blood sugar reading this morning was astronomical after yesterday's feasting.  My doctor says I'm taking as much medication as I can and if I don't get the numbers down, he's threatening me with insulin injections.  I must be missing something, but the way I understand it, type 1 diabetes is when the pancreas doesn't produce insulin so the patient has to provide the insulin.  Type 2 diabetes is when the pancreas produces insulin but the body can't process it properly so I don't see how injecting more inulin will solve anything.  Anyway, now that it's summer I can get out and get more exercise and I just gotta work on my willpower when it comes to food.  Maybe I can get my numbers down by the time I see him again in two months and he'll get off my back.

Galaxy:  Happy birthday to your other half.  Cake

Hello Mr. Seamonster...

Type I does not produce insulin and it MUST be replaced with injections.

Type II is insufficient insulin. It could be that there is more of you than there is insulin to go around (ergo: you are too fat), There could be reduced production, or the cells may be unable to make use of the insulin that it has. Diet, Exercise are the first line of attack, meds are the second line of treatment.

If meds do not help, then yes, Insulin will be necessary. This increases the availability of insulin in circulation. With meds and insulin, frequent blood sugar reading are necessary to assure that your blood sugar levels do not get to low. High blood sugar is a long term problem. Low blood sugar is an immediate concern and requires a replacement of sugar: a candy bar, orange juice laced with sugar or something to get more sugar into circulation right away.

LION ate many many jelly beans during the past week, but his blood sugar was a nice 82. Him has neuropathy, and some low pressure glaucoma, but no diabetes. Him worries, but there is naught to do.

Howdy ...

It's RBF time!

I complete 3 of the 4 sets of tax returns and file for an extension on the other. It has been a lot of work with 4 different states to file these returns. Income tax returns drive me crazy. I'm using a good, well known brand of tax software, but it had a couple of annoying glitches.

Bob Seamonster ... Happy anniversary.... Take care of the blood sugar.

Ray ... You take care too with your blood sugar.

Bill T..... The elephant picture reminds me of something I did. I saw the picture or one nearly the same years ago and used it for a joke. I was working for GTW in Michigan. It was during the Jimmy Carter era and the country was experiencing an energy crisis at the time. The company published a monthly news letter, and I used a copy machine along with a little creativity to make a fake news letter. It had the letterhead and the elephant picture. I added the GT logo to the side of the elephant. The message from what I recall was: "Grand Trunk acquires new, energy efficient switching locomotive. The President was elated when he learned about this new locomotive which is fueled with peanuts. The Grand Trunk is now living up to its name."..... They did not fire me. (At least not yet) In fact, I heard that at least one vice president laughed out loud......... Oh. Those were the days.

Darren ... Did the caboose make a wrong turn?

Jeff ... your Sundown Shops are so talented. Here's a challenge if you feel up to it. Look at this photo. How about a model of a locomotive with service doors open?

Back at work today, the knee is SLOWLY improving, still quite a bit of pain but certainly more flexible than it was. So not much progress on the LM&E.

Glad to hear that Chris survived the Big Blow through IOWA, and the rest of you as well of course, wherever you were at the time last week-end.   Confused  then ducking for cover.........

Also glad to see Jerry stopping by again, we felt slighted Jerry, you were gone so long.

Jeff, you should sick that neighbor Lady onto your Nephew when he is making too much noise with that stereo.  That should do it for you....................Headphones

Ken,  Absolutely you did the right thing, even if you were to lose that job, you would go to bed at night knowing that you did the right thing for the Company and would sleep well.  But I think it will work out in your favor.  Good on you.    Thumbs UpThumbs Up

I will try to drop back later and see what you are all up too today.

It is sunny and starting to warm up today, so maybe, soon I can start mowing like the rest of you guys.

I wonder if Sue does the mowing out there in Washington ?????????????????

 Morning Folks!

 Flo, Coffee please.

Galaxy Cake Wish a Happy to your Other Half for me.

Feel a little Ick! today. I stayed up way to late last night watching Ziva! Big Smile Got too bed around 2:00 AM.

Far as the Work Front goes, I heard a very smart man once said the Truth Will Set You Free. No matter how the shoe fall's I am glad I got it off my chest. It all right not to want to go to work, but you should not feel sick to your stomach when you have to go to work.

Silly thing is if Larry had called Dave when this mess first started, he would have got yelled at and maybe taken a $25 to $60.00 hit for the week. I would guess he is on track to make $58,000 to $62,000 this year. But NO, he wants all the money so he tried to cover it up then make me the Scape Goat.

I don't know for sure if Larry will lose his job. But if he stays, I think he will be different person. But, if he did lie to the Auditor? Whistling That sure will not set well with the Company.

Well, time to put the Drama behind me for the rest of the day. Honey Do is long and impressive.

Going to try and take a nap to make up for last night, then off to the rear patio to clean up.

Well, we celebrated our 47th. anniversary yesterday.  Looking back on the days when we were first married, it seems like a whole different lifetime.  We went out for breakfast at Perkins.  We had one of their specials--two eggs, four strips of bacon, hashbrowns and three pancakes.  My wife had two slices of toast instead of pancakes, but I'll never turn down pancakes.  The food was delicious, but the atmosphere left a lot to be desired.  My wife has difficulty getting in and out of a booth so we always have to ask to be seated at a table.  We were seated next to a table of 16 people.  I think it was some sort of club breakfast meeting.  Noisy!!!  At least the noise level went down once they got food in their mouths.

For supper, we went to Maxime.  (CNCharlie, you'd know that restaurant.)  It's my wife's favourite restaurant.  The decor is Greek--"marble" Grecian fluted columns, "marble" Grecian statutes, big Grecian urns, brick and dark wood panelling on the walls.  The decor is beautiful, the service is excellent and so is the food.  For all the Grecian decor, Greek food is only a small part of the menu.  We had spring rolls for an apetizer.  I had veal parmesan with mashed potatoes and veggies with a side salad and buns.  My wife had some kind of fish in a sauce.  For dessert we had cake and coffee.  It's quite expensive, but a good place for a special ocassion.  Oh, I couldn't finish my meal and had to take home a doggy bag.  Since we don't have a doggie, I know what I'll be having for supper later this week.

I wonder what our kids will plan for our 50th. in three years' time, if we're still around.  When we celebrated our 25th., our kids were teenagers and with the help of one of their aunts, they put quite an effort into a come and go party for us.  They sent out the invitations, even searching out some of the people who were at our wedding, organizing the food, and even had one of their cousins model my wife's wedding dress.  I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

We got a lot of rain overnight.  Good thing we got our lawn power raked, cut and vacuumed yesterday morning before the rain started.  We have that done every spring.

Johnboy:  did you get the PM I sent you the other day?  I tried twice but it didn't look like the server sent it.

Good Morning Modelers!

It's 40F & Sunny heading for 71F.  Our Window Replacement project is nearly completed with the Stain / Patch / Paint of the window area itself now done.  We will do some other Patch / Paint work around the house by the weekend now that the paint can has been opened just to spruce up the place a bit.  Then there is the task of putting the house back in order after moving a lot of stuff out of the way.  This was one of the major project the wife said was ahead of having a Model Train layout room so I'm a step closer!  Hoping to get in some Railfanning next month as it seem like it's been forever since we have taken a trip significantly outside of town.

Morning All,

Not much planned for today except laundry and sweeping the floors. I will probably work on the last gondola today. I was looking at the Walther's website and it looks like the turntables have finally arrivedBig Smile. Hopefully I ordered far enough back (Nov) to get one before they run out. They have already said they did not make enough for their ordersDunce.

Supposed to be in the mid 80's all week but finally getting some rain.

Ken- Sorry about work, I really hate some of the  under handed stuff people pull.

Ken: That sounds like a crazy situation going on there. Not quite as crazy as the one I saw at the local Wal-Mart a couple of weeks back though. Seems a customer was trying to find film for her digital camera. And yes, she was a brunette.

Good morning. It's 50° and sunny. The high will be 78°. Northeast wind at 5 to 10 mph.

Not much planned for today. Just whatever comes up I guess. I still have to get the north engine house off the layout and make that short stretch of track look abandoned. Rained again yesterday which turned the ground from damp to soggy. Heard someone up the road having fun in a ditch this morning. One of the neighbors went up there with her 4x4 to yank him out. No need to worry about her. She's a big farm girl. If a guy tries something with her she'll very quickly rearrange his body parts, including some he might think are important!

Good Morning!!! Coffee and waffles with maple syrup please. Thanks.

Sunny, with a high near 74. South wind between 6 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph.

Jerry- I like the new IC.

Bob- You’re right on the return of investment of a new mower. I think, and this goes against everything I stand for, but I’d have to say (gulp) the wife may be right. If I were you I’d look at a service.

Happy B-Day to...Confused...I’ll call her GOH. That’s “Galaxy’s Other Half”

Ken- Brace yourself, things could get a bit rough. People always seem to find out who’s talking. That being said, I say good for youYes. Since you’re miserable and seemed to have almost resigned yourself to being unemployed again, and I certainly hope not, what have got to lose? Stress? Shoot you have enough of that as it is, who needs more? Of course after this it will be harder for him to fire you and make it stick. So you have that going for you, though I wouldn’t set his hair on fire as a joke.....Mischief.....Just yet anyway.Laugh

Welp, today Brenda took off w**k and we are going to Pittsfield to see my Aunt who has been in the Nursing home for rehab. Why she took off during the week instead of waiting for the weekend I have no idea. Frankly am afraid to ask.

But first…ZIVA!!!!!!!!

Ya’ll have a good day!!!!

 Evening Fellow Dinners! Yes

Flo, Beer for the dinner's and one for me!

Work Front and the Auditor. Well, looks like I was set up. It is a long story and would take me a hour to type it all. Two customers bought tires from Tire Rack on line and had them delivered to our store. Customer A bought good tires, customer B bought cheap tires and both customers bought the same sizes. Customer B came in first, and by mistake, had customer A tires installed on her SUV. . Customer A came in for is Good tires, but they are gone? So he was give tires from are stock and where told they where just as good! Auditor told me this story and it was news to me, reason? It happened on 2-24-12 and I was here at the dinner eating my Cake and opening my Gift with you folks. In other words I was off!

Frame Job Customer A did not like the tires we gave him and told Larry (acting manager, Drunk Jim had quite) so he had Keith order the tires that where the same as the ones he had bought. So on 03-01-12 he came in for the exchange. Instead of keying a real invoices, a Estimate was keyed using my employee number and password?

But how did someone get your numbers you ask? All the employee numbers are posted at the computers so we know who keyed or did the work. Far as my password, well I type real slow, so to speed things up at the time my pass word was 9999999. Sure would not be hard to figure that one out would it?

As soon as I learned what had happen I offered to take a Polygraph test. I all so explained in March I would had no clue on how to key a exchange in the first places and would had to call Dave (he was not working out of our store at the time) on how to key it!

Auditor Kept Pressing Me on who I thought would do something like this? I did not break right away, but I finally pulled some tickets from my wallet that Larry stole from me. He pulled them up and saw what was going on. Asked me why I did not speak up? That is when the Dam Burst and I spilled my guts. Larry was all ready making my life a living ^%$ at work so I rather let him have a $10.00 or $20.00 here and there than make it worst. How Dave is in my caboose all the time (told him about getting stuff about my beard) and nick picking. All so told him about how money had kept coming up missing from the draw. How Dave was going to fire me for it on one write till he found out I was ready to go to HR about it. Funny, and as soon as I said that to Dave, money stopped coming up missing? Whistling

Told him about the when I was working at St Peters I worked around with a smile on my faces, and here at Foulview Heights, it is a frown all the time. When I wrote out my statement I stated " I be more than pleased to take a Polygraph Test".

I told Tom ( the auditor) more than I typed here. He said he will be meeting with Nick Proctor Wednesday (HR guy) and will tell him to contact me.

This may be the best day with the Company to date! When the other employees where asked who they thought did it, Larry was the answer! Whistling Well, that was what I was told but I trust no one at this point!

Hum, by the way Good Morning it is Wednesday 04-18-2012.

Evenin' Folks!

Janie just a decaf for me.

Galaxy, happy birthday tomorrow to your better half!

High today got all the way up to 60°F.....  Right now it 39°F with a low over night of 34°F they say.  Some freeze warning are posted for the area.  Yesterday it was 86°F!

Got the rest of the lawn mowed, used the string trimmer around the property, and did a few other needed things like run down to the CU to make a couple deposits.  Then I spent some quality time in the layout room.  Got another right hand turnout almost done, finished laying track on a siding, and a few other things.

Just about time to call it a night.  Prayers for all in need!

Went with my father today to a place in town for soup and a sandwich. I had Cajun gumbo and a Cajun roast beef sandwich on jalapeno bread. To be honest I've had hotter wheat bread. I couldn't taste any jalapeno and the only thing Cajun about the sandwich was the name. Tasted like an ordinary roast beef sandwich. As for the gumbo, it was a bit lean and tasted more like a thin beef stew with rice. The meal was fair but definitely not what I was expecting. Nothing done on the layout today except to check if the track needed to be wiped. Complete waste of time. Other than a very light gray smudge on my fingertips it's clean as a whistle. Other than the above I've been watching some TV and getting some rest.
