Morning All,

Flo I would love a cup of coffee please...Sue is paying.

Getting ready to go to Wally World to grocery shop for 2 weeks. We will probably have Jambalaya for supper with sausage and  shrimp in it tonight.

After I get back I will probably  with the help of  my son attach the extension to the layout. Now that I know it is coming I am  ready to finish the last major section of  the layout. I have had the plywood top laying  flat on the floor to get rid of any  bowing in the wood. I'll just sit the top on the  frame until the pit hole is cut  out.

Everyone take care.

Good morning, Gang.  I hope everyone stops by for coffee this morning.  Chloe, I will buy.  There will be a power outage while the replace the poles and place heavier lines today.  I plan to keep the wood stove going.

Curt,  Those gondola loads look great.

Johnboy,  I have a friend who is involved with the local Civil War reenactment group. His boys are involved, too.

 Evening Fellow Dinners

Flo, beer and salt water to soak my feet in.

Work Front It was a long day at 10 hours, Dave was gone a lot so I got to sit a little bit. Had one hard to please customer, but she was fun to deal with today. Real problem is she has a 2005 320 Benz with staggered tires. That is a fancy way of saying the tires in the front is smaller than the tires in the rear. Hard part was she want the same type of tires in the front and rear. Only match set I could come up with where Yokohama but she wanted Michelin tires. Installed some on the front, cords where hanging out. Now I have to try to find some close for the rear of the car.

Auditor Front Well the scuttlebutt is they think Keith did it. Dang, I like Keith. Do not know anything officially yet but Keith is the one that started the mess. If he did try to cover it up, it was not so he would take a hit $ wise. Dave gets in his caboose pretty often so he would have been trying to get around the Caboose Chewing. I must say, Keith does make some stupid deals.

So I may still be stuck with The Larry until I can get the heck out of that store or Larry moves on. He claims to have a better job offer, I sure hope he does!

Ulrich Front I got a PM from him today. He is still around and is reading the posting. Just doe's not have anything good to say at this point. Well I know the feeling, and have not posted from time to time.

Ulrich I will send you a proper PM Friday before I go to work. I was called in early today so all I had time to do was read your PM. I just want the folks here know you are still around.

Well, I done in see you all later.

Evenin' folks!

Janie just a decaf please.  I'll be in the back, I see Ken woke up.....

Jeffrey, I liked the old steam loco, but agree the rusted baggage car just looks right at home there!

Had a great time at the Museum Meeting.  I got to move that we dispense with the reading of the minutes of the last meeting (emailed out to everyone).  I do this at every meeting I go to.  The president usually says, "On to the minutes", and looks at me........  The program was some very old 1960s home videos of mostly logging RRs.  Cass and several other.  Some great footage of mostly 3 truck Shays at work!

Got the tortoise machine hooked up to the turnout I installed yesterday.  A bit of a feat as this has to be a remote install and requires 5 hands and 8 foot arms to get it all done....  I managed with the use of an old pair of surgical forceps I still have from when my late wife had leukemia.  I save everything!  Did several other odds and ends as well down there today.

Have a great night!

Evening All,

Today has been a good day. I put the RS-1 in for sound, had a very nice conversation with the LHS owner, came home and was notified that my TT is going to be shipped to me on Tues 4/24Big SmileBig SmileBig SmileBig Smile. I ordered it from Dallas Model Works last Nov. Next week I will put up the framing for that addition (already built) but will wait until I receive the TT to cut the circular opening for the pit.

John Boy- Great photos. I have always been fascinated by the Revolutionary and Civil Wars.

Hope everyone has a good night and prayers for those in need.

Afternoon Tea and Crumpets
Posted by galaxy on Thursday, April 19, 2012 12:53 PM

Good afternoon

Have a migraine setting in so I've accomplished nothing so far today.

MOH is now home from work and apprecitated all the happy greetings form Yesterday {Birthday}!

We went to Tony's Restorate adn Grill, never been there before but looks like we may have a new place to eat out at on our once-a month- cheapo eat-out. {$10 or there abouts} Was good and prices excellent when compared to Denny's which WAS our usual place bu the last 3 times we have been tehre we have had problems with cold food or other problems with the  food. The last time the manager rembered us and comp'd our meals, so it was free, but NOT the way we like free food! The time before that,we had cold food too, adn got a survey questionaire to fill out and got a free meal to. I'd rather have good hot food I pay for!! We usually split a dinner anyway.

Tony's was great price, nice atmosphere and great food at nice prices, or at least not any worse than Denny's, and lower in most cases. If we split, we can get a great meal for $10 or under at Tony's with bread and all. No butter for their bread..olive oil with hot pepper flakes, seasoning and parm cheese!

Well, I even brought home anice leftover and dinner and dessert for 2 {on FIL's dime} cost only $25 with tax. I had eggplant parm wiht side of 'pasghetti', salad and bread, MOH had lasagna with salad and bread. ANd for desert we had triple layer chocolate cake.

Well, I have rambled enough, about time for my serial drama to be on.

Here I sit fat dumb and happy. Sigh

Afternoon All,

Just back from the LHS, Jon the owner convinced me to put in a Titan Sound Board. He has a  RS-3 with it and it sounded awesome. I go back next Thursday to pick it up. We talked for about 30-35 minutes about the Pennsy, layouts, and the upward trend of loco prices. I really enjoyed myself. The downside was that Phil did not show up-must of had to work. Don't you all just hate it when work gets in the way of  our off time?

Next week I have to remember my camera. I passed 2 FEC loco's and one was pulling cars, a switcher, a string of covered hoppers and a string of regular hoppers sitting on a plate girder bridge that you drove under.

Jeff- Glad your Mother is back home. The baggage car will go good in that space.

Cox47- I like the weathering on the hoppers.

Everyone take care.

Good afternoon everybody,

I'm taking a break from giving the bathroom a good cleaning and thought I would stop in and see what's going on so far today. All that's left to do is the floor, and then I have some ironing to get done. I should wash the car too, as I took the wife down to the Casino on Wheeling Island yesterday and now the front is covered with a wide assortment of deceased little bugs. I must have hit a swarm of something from the looks of it.

I haven't seen anyone here talking about Norfolk Southern's Heritage units. I had pretty much convinced myself, and sort of told the wife, that I probably wouldn't get any HO reproductions whenever they came out. Well, Norfolk Southern released their photo of the "Pennsylvania" unit yesterday, and I think I'll be eating those words. The red and gold striped passenger scheme looks very nice on that ES44AC. It would be great to catch any of the heritage units while railfanning, but especially the PRR and the Conrail units. But I'm not hopeful as I'm still haven't even seen the NS executive train yet.

Better get back to work before the other half wonders what I'm doing. Have a great one. Tom

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a short stack of Buckwheat Pancakes, real Maple Syrup, and a pot of dark roast coffee to be served in a FGLK mug.  Please and thank you, Ma'am!

Currently 59°F under partly cloudy skies this morning here in the Finger Lakes region.  High will be a pleasant 70°F sometime this afternoon.  I have plenty of outside w*rk to get caught up on, weeding, moving the wood, cutting back some hedges, and the like.  So today will interfere with my getting as much done on the layout as I want.  Tonight I will be going to the monthly meeting of the R&GV RR Museum.

Sugar was exactly the same this morning as it was yesterday.  Not bad really, 122.  Just wonder why last night it was 112....  Usually for me it is 10 points lower in the morning?  I do know that it doesn't always w*rk THAT way and it is at least well withing the limits, so I guess I can rest a bit easier....  Don't like it at all when it is 189!!!!!  Had that when I was sick a couple weeks ago.

Barry, very sorry to hear about your other half's Aunt!  My condolences and prayers for all of you. BTW the NMRA Convention this weekend is in Sudbury, Ontario this year.  First one we have had since the Woodstock Turn 3 years ago.....  Long story which I don't want to recount online....  Only 2 of my Division members will be there.  One is presenting 2 different clinics.  I didn't have the $$$ to justify going this year.  It is an 8 hour drive from my house and would require staying overnight both going up and coming home in addition to the cost of the convention and 2 nights there.  The new computer put the final nail in the coffin for being able to go! Grumpy

Anybody seen Ulrich around?  Seems like it has been a few days since was last in.

Best be getting on with the day if I am to accomplish anything at all.....

Later!

Good morning. It's 55° and sunny. The high will be 82°

Well I've decided that my abandoned baggage car will be the best car to place on the abandoned spur. I made it for just such a display so it should be used as such. And yes there's a prototype for this. Just look in downtown Leesville. Now I'll need to add some weeds and bits of junk here and there.

Got a call last night that my mother is home from the hospital. I'll go over to look in on her later.

Morning All,

Getting ready to walk out the door. Have 2 errands to do then take the 45 minute drive up to the LHS  that Phil uses. He sent me a message last night asking when I would be there so hopefully I can meet him there. I think that would be great but he wasn't sure about his work schedule. Well thats it for now.

Everyone take care.

Evenin' Folks!

Janie, just a decaf and a seat in the back....  Ah, I taker that back, it is way too noisy back there.  Man Ken sure cuts a racket when he sleeps doesn't he!

I had a busy day and now have a nagging backache to show for it.  Split a couple more wheelbarrow loads of wood from the pile I have had sitting in my driveway all winter.  Cleaned my bedroom of the cat hair dinosaurs under the bed and dusted most of the furniture in there, did some quick shopping, and got another turnout finished and installed on the layout along with some new benchwork I need to have in place before I can start putting in the lower staging.  Tonight I ordered a CrownXLS1000 Power Amp to drive my old Tannoy PBM 8 II nearfield monitors I will be adding to the trainroom.  Now those old girls can make a steam loco sound like a Steam Loco!!!  I will have to take my old 8 channel Mackie Mixer that I used for DJing down there to to be able to use the 3 different sound sources I could use.....

Hey Ken!  Wake up!  Just wanted to tell you I love the coffee table.  THAT looks like something I would do, but with a much dirtier engine...... Whistling

Getting pretty close to time for me to turn in for the night myself.

Prayers for all in need!
