Good Afternoon/Evening!

Zoe, just a glass of OJ for me - I have to watch my diet!

This was supposed to be a slow day for me, as I am still kind of weak. Well, it was, until shortly after lunch, when my friend Lothar showed up with a bundle of racks and shelves. After a couple of hours of hard work (for him, not for me) and five dozens of words the forum software would not allow me to post, the shelf for my layout is now up on the wall, the modules are connected and I was able to run the first train over the entire length of 8 feet! Unfortunately, I was not much of a help to him, other than being in his way all the time.

The desk is clear now, and the whole train/guest/laundry room looks a lot less messy! Guess, who is really happy! I mean Petra, of course!

Here are a couple of quick shots I took some moments ago:

Not the best pictures, but you´ll get the idea.

The best of it is, that I found a way to extend the whole thing by another 5 - 6 ft., allowing me to add 8 more modules to what I have now!

Enjoy!

P.S. The day really perked up my spirits, although I am doggone tired.

Morning Again,

I finished clearing the area I wanted to today and removed the Tortoises. I glued down thin pieces of styrene over the holes to help during landscaping.

Sue- The deadline setting is a habit from the military that I picked up for better or worse. MOH also quilts.

I finally got the short hood decal sorted out. I gave it a double shot of Matte Finish to help keep it in place. The main part of the problem was posed by the handrails. There's less than a quarter of an inch distance between the handrails and the hood. I can't even get may pinky finger in there. I got the idea to stick a small piece of foam to a short piece of a ladder. I used this to hold the end of the decal against the model while I pulled the decal paper out with a small pair of scissors being careful to keep the decal properly aligned. Once the paper was out of the way I used the foam tipped ladder to pat the decal into place. I then slipped in a double layer of paper towel and pressed it down with the ladder to seat the decal and soak up the water. After it had dried I hit it with a double shot of Matte Finish. I still have to make new windows and number boards. The headlight lenses will be the easiest. Two blobs of super glue gel.

Went back and tried to find Flips post out of curiosity but it must have been removed or the part in question edited out. I must have seen it before the editors astericked it out. If all had seen that, then there would have been no issue I'm sure. Odd, the moderators didn't see it the way it was meant. It seemed obvious to me. Knowing Flip, it never crossed my mind he meant it any other way though.

I've come up with another way to build said cabinet/bookshelf. She actually wanted it to look similar to or kitchen cabinets since it will be in the same room. Basically an upper cabinet with no doors but wider and no center divider. It was obvious and why I was loking at it another way is beyond me. I just need to front it and use good oak cabinet type plywood on the sides and regular plywood on the tops and bottoms. Maybe use the good stuff there too depends on what I can get. THAT should bring the price down considerably. I hate to even say what my original thought was. One inch thick solid plank Oak all around, then the front. I never claimed to be the brightest planner. Just check out my RR if you need proof.

I may end up in town today to get materials for that. Maybe tomorrow and make it a consolodated run.

Good morning, Chloe.  I will have a quick coffee before I exercise this morning.

Ulrich,  Sorry I missed your post yesterday.  We must have been working on it at the same time.  So glad you are back.  Get strong.  Sometimes our bodies shut down to protect us.  I hope that is what it is and not a mini stoke.   Take care.

Curt,  You sure set a lot of deadlines for your layout projects.  It is fun to follow your plans with the photos.  Larry & I are pretty good at ripping up track and changing things.  The hard part is not destroying the track.  It is nice if you can reuse it.

Speaking of deadlines, I have a quilt that I am working on that is taking up some of my modeling time.  I can start putting on the siding on my car shop so that project will move a little faster.

Later,   Sue

Good morning. It's 38° and mostly sunny. The high will be 62° and it'll be partly sunny.

Think I'll take a break today. There are new movies on the DVR that need watching. Finally got the L&A decals on the U25C. The decal on the short hood however has proven to be a problem and it seems to be impossible to get it placed just right. So I'll have to peel that one off.

WHEW!!! Glad thats over with. I didn't even think of that 3 letter word. Censoreship is a dangerous thing.  Hope the wardens here take note.

I have been forwarding items to Jerry but he never said a word about Sally. I know she has med problems along with Jer.

First load in dryer almost ready. More loads to take care of. Library, bank and then LHS [hey no periods 'tween the letters] lol.

Blessings all

Morning All,

Not much planned. I'm going to continue tearing out the sidings I started yesterday and hopefully finish them. Around 2 PM I have to meet a friend at the club to pick up turnouts then back home since tomorrow morning I have to get up at 3:30 AM for work. Disney is doing a half marathon so we have to be there to provide EMS coverage. Crying

I read Flip's posting of asterisks last night to me as another name for a donkey that uses 3 letters if you get my drift. Anyway we should be good now.

Ulrich- Good to see you posting again.

Ray- I forgot to ask what that picture was of last night?

Everyone take care.

Good Morning!! Coffee and….

ULRICH!!! Thank goodness you’re back! Prayers for healing sending your way. Um, how’s Petra’s computer skills coming?

Healing thoughts and prayers being sent out for Sally. ConfusedSallie. Ah, the big guy knows who I mean.

Jeremy- Ever see Cheers? Remember when Cliff would come in and, as postal rules savvy as he was, hand out peoples mail to them there in the bar? Then they would all pass the mail they received to the proper recipient? That’s trash day around here. Not bad for the full cans but after they’re empty and the wind (always seems to be windy on trash day. Go figure) blows them around, we are all wandering around bringing trash cans back to the rightful owners and/ or retrieving our own.

Flip- I did chuckle when I first saw what you wrote. But I would have also with the periods. But I, myself knew what you meant. Just thought it was funny. I doubt if anyone here thought different. Well they may not have found it funny, but I'm sure they knew what you meant or didn't even think of the other one.

Well today is another I don’t know what I’ll do day. I still have so many little things to do. I have those two shelves to build so maybe….

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

Good morning everyone. Thanks for starting us off Bill. Ulrich is back and almost everything is right with the world.  Now the censored censores have gotten me in trouble with Curt. H.O. modlers are H.O. ers NOT the "W" word. Person using a hoe in the garden is a ***. There is also hoar frost. None of these words are to be misconstrude as a low-life. I hope Curt will read my P.M. and or this post. And ,yes, I am a H.O.er Besides , the word they thought I used starts  with a "W".

Prayers for all of us.

There, they did it again. Doggone it. Leave my words alone.

Some of you guys are certainly burning midnight oil! Smile, Wink & Grin

Woke up this morning and could not open my left eye. My left side also feels a little number than yesterday - maybe I overdid it yesterday. In any case, this means no MRRing today! Grumpy

For those curious about the innards of the U25C, it's an older Athearn blue box SD45 mechanism that's mostly original. The differences are a new motor, different light mounting and a hardwired Bachmann DCC decoder. The motor was changed because the old black ring magnet motor didn't agree with DCC at all. The original light mount was removed due to the tiny front hood of the Rivarossi U25C body. The light is mounted on top of the front truck so it still fries the crew in the cab. Oh yeah, four of the six wheelsets were changed out with nickel silver wheelsets. The center wheelset in each truck are the old sintered iron wheels.

Curt: The layout is looking good. We can learn a lot from looking at what others have done but the best way to learn is to do it and hopefully be able to learn from our mistakes. I know I've made a bunch over the forty plus years I've been in the hobby.

Evening All,

Hope everyone is doing well tonight.

Tomorrow I am picking up the turnouts so hopefully next week I can finish the redo of the 2 curves. I started to rip out my next project today. The photo shows the 2 freight sidings and coal tower. The entire area will be removed. What is going back in is 1 track for the left side freight, the coal tower will have 3 leads and I plan on moving it closer to the camera, and the right 2 freight tracks go away completely. The 3 buildings there will be on the reverse loop where the steam servicing facilities are at now. I laid it out and I will need 3 RH #5 PECO Insulfrogs. I am also using ground throws instead of Tortoise's. I have found that I made the layout overly complicated and not designed so well in placesDunce...so now I have to fix it so it works well.

Hope everyone has a good night and prayers for those in need and sick or hurt.

 Evening Fellow Dinners!

Flo, Beer please and a pieces of Cake

Well, got my running done but the limb still is laying of the patio. Sigh But what the heck, it is my birthday!

Called Gary at Calvert Express for 45 minutes or so. Seems promising, then I called his area supervisor Dave Gower. Not as promising but was not shut down either. Hard part for me is both Gary and Dave where managers that worked For Me when I was the area supervisor. But I am willing of swallowing my pride. Dave did tell me if I have not heard from him by Monday to give him a call.

Time to do some dog fighting on the computer!

Good to see Ulrich back, hope you get better my friend.

Rob: Indeed thanks for the update on Jerry.

Well the storm of the year came and passed us with no accumulating snow at all, it rained all day though and its is quite windy out now. I love how all the garbage on the street winds up on my lawn when it gets windy, does anybody else find that? I dont know if its paper that blows out of people's recycling bins or just people who are slobs and litter. Whatever its I get sick of having to be the blocks garbage man when the winds kick up.

Bowl of cherries, please.

If I forgot to mention it, Jerry is OK. He does drop in on the Diner and read posts. Still in the same place and is working on a new railroad, while keeping the Illinois and Southern going. (hope he doesn't mind, it wouldn't hurt to send healing thoughts to his other half)

Still not feeling that great today. It is what it is.

Have a good one all.

Morning all,

ULRICH - A belated welcome back

HAPPH BIRTHDAY TO ALL who've had a BIRTHDAY recently.

Like Ulrich I'm a Leo too, I have a guardian lion too, no doubt a good friend of Broadway Lion. Smile

More weather...

We've had another 130mm of rain overnight all up in 2012 we've had nearly 700mm already, normal yearly average is 1000mm. One place up the road an hour (Noosa) had 325mm in two hours from 9pm-11pm!! Absolutely insane...

On the layout front...

Thinking of building a small module with a bridge scene to either install at the end of my staging yard with the view to extend the layout to another section in the future, or as the initial module leading into my staging yard.  The module would only be around 24" x 12". I've always wanted to have a bridge Big Smile

Thats about it for now,
