***Jeffrey, trying to figure out how that cannon will work for possum. Are you going to toss one in there right after firing for "flash cooking" or what exactly? Perhaps Major Reisman can make some suggestions. Can you imagine his response to that...MischiefLaugh

Good Early Afternoon...or whatever time frame you are currently inWhistling

Well I’m here looking through an old picture frame
Just waiting for the perfect view
I hope something special will step into my life
Another fine edition of you
A pin up done in shades of blue

Sometimes you find you’re yearning for the quiet life
The country air and all of its joys
The badgers couldn’t compensate at twice the price
For just another night with the boys – oh yeah
And boys will be boys will be boys

They say love’s a gamble hard to win easy lose
And while sun shines you’d better make hay
So if life is your table and fate is the wheel
Then let the chips fall where they may
In modern times the modern way

And as I was drifting past the Lorelei
I heard those slinky sirens wail – ooo
So look out sailor when you hear them croon
You’ll never be the same again – oh no
Their crazy music drives you insane – this way

So love me leave me do what you will
Who knows what tomorrow might bring
Learn from your mistakes is my only advice
And stay cool is still the main rule
Don’t play yourself for a fool
Too much cheesecake too soon
Old money’s better than new
No mention in the latest Tribune
And don’t let this happen to you

And who told Vinnie where I hid the frypan - OUCH!

I'll never tell!

Doctor appointment went well. As I figured it was just a rehash of the lab results from last time. He wants to see me again in two months. I have another appointment on the 7th of this month with the foot doc, again. Don't know right off what I'll do with the rest of the day. There was something called 'Kansas Pacific' being recorded on the DVR this morning. Figure I can watch that. Also got 'The Dirty Dozen' begging to be watched.

Ok Todd, if Mexico is in New York, and Moscow is in Idaho, why can't Ohio be in Japan ? Answer me that. And If you were in Kadena AFB, you still haven't made it so Honshu ,right? Or is that Honcho - or am I back in Mexico? The essential rhetorical question I thnk is "How can you be in two places at once when you're really no place at all?"

And look at the mess you've made for Johnboy! His best bet now is to make a complete material list for the bathroom and get the CFO to look it over so at least they are on the same planet. I hope you're happy now. And yes I've recaulked both bathtubs and refit the drains and still seem to have a leak. And who told Vinnie where I hid the frypan - OUCH!    J.R. slinking off to lick his wounds.

I see THAT some of our patrons are already going completely natty already and it is only the second day here.

I don't see anyone putting up rice paper wallpaper yet so it guess it hasn't gotten that bad yet. Somebody asked if they're turning Japanese from being in Japan. I spent nine years in Germany. That doesn't make make me German. I spent a year in Italy, that doesn't make me Italian. I lived in Greece, France, England and a couple other places. That doesn't make me Greek, French or English. I enjoy Chinese food, that doesn't make me Chinese. I enjoy Mexican food yet I'm not a Mexican. I enjoy good redneck barbeque, that doesn't - the jury's still out on that one. I am, always have been and always will be a Native American of Cherokee descent. There's no changing that. And yes, I have way too much free time on my hands.

Whistling

Morning All,

I slept in a little, but no sleeping in for the next three days as it is work, work, work, over the week-end.

Chloe, when you get a moment, I'll have a big bowl of steaming oatmeal, with raisins, some cinnamon toast and a HC, please and thanks.

I would swear our wives are reading this forum.

After Tom, Barry and others got to preforming their duties on the floors, my wife says " We have a baby shower for our D-I-L  coming up in a little while and I sure would like to have the toilet in the main bath changed to a low flush model."

- So that was purchased.

-Then as I readied to install that, she says that the intent is to change the flooring at some point. So the Dura-Ceramic tile was chosen and purchased.

-As I am not going to do the whole floor right now ( as I can see the big picture here and there will be much more work coming forth).  I cut out enough of the old flooring out to lay four tiles down to set the new toilet on, so that wouldn't have to be moved again.

-So as I am about to set the toilet in place last evening my dear wife comes in for an inspection and says I think  (WE meaning Me ) should paint the wall behind the toilet before putting it down.

-So I said, I am not going through that experience again with my Wife and her Sister going over and over what color it should be.  NO, NOT AGAIN !!!      Then I said we do have enough paint left over from doing the 3/4 bath last spring that I can use....... so that wall is now painted and today the toilet will be set.  (Hopefully)   It should have been down three days ago.  It has also been mentioned that the baseboards and trims should be upgraded  as well.                                            --- It never ends----Sigh

Boy, the train room would sure look great right now.

Come to think of it, I hope the Wife doesn't read this.  The S__t   would hit the floor and that would be me I'm afraid.       Black Eye                        Lol

Johnboy out.................................and sharing in the "floor wars"

I see THAT some of our patrons are already going completely natty already and it is only the second day here.  Lucky it is a short month I guess.  Where exactly are we in Japan, BTW?  And what is that glow on the horizon?  Kept me awake all night!  Hmmmmmmmm............

Japan huh…never been there. Duffel bag sat in Kadena (sp?)for a couple days once. Myself, I was in Korea. Now I’ve been there 5 or 6 times.

Terry- Proud of your son? You should be. Tell him from a vet, HOOAH! (Ok so I said it. I always hated that when they started saying it. Considered it a cheap knock off from the Marines.) From a citizen, thanks for serving!

I see JR is in Ohio. Couldn’t find the town on the map though. Must be real small.

Inch- Good to hear things are normal for you.

Sue- Great scene!!

Floor Wars Williamsville: Phase….I lost track - Still grouting and laying tile, though the tile is laid in the kitchen. Now the “oh look an empty space to put stuff” room. Kinda cramped so it’ll take way longer to do than it should. Yesterday, due to interuptions, all day I got four tiles laid. Yup, 4. Sigh

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

Morning All,

Supposed to be 80-82 F today. I'm fixing to get started on the train back drop. I should have all  day to work on it since I did chores and errands yesterday and MOH is at work.

Terry- That is  a great looking scene. I agree with Sue please thank  your son for his service.

Lee- This is probably going to make me look stupid but JTT branches?

Everyone take care.

Inch,

Good to see you drop by. #1 son lost power for 6 days in Oct with the early heavy snow so we can sympathize. Shop was only out for 5 days and some were powerless for 9 or more. Can sympathize about the mess involved as well. Good your grandson got to stop by between assignments. Once I shipped overseas, I was only able to get home once (flying on top of cargo crates on a KC135 to BealeAFB, then home from SFI and back to Clark AFB.

Glad you're getting some "training" in as well. Have the little ones been recruited to help on the layout yet?    J.R.

Good Morning All,

Boy you guys are a chatty bunch this week, LOL.

Inch, good to see you back in the diner.

I wandered into the AAR Codes chat room last night to get the AAR code for Ore Jennies, very helpful group over there.

Curt the elevated hillside looks good, now you need about 400 JTT “branches” to finish it off. J

I hear the ground hog saw his shadow, but not sure how that will affect us this year since we never really had winter, more like a rough spring or fall season. Today it’s in the forties and a little wind.  Tuesday it reached up into the 60’s.  Normally by this time we have permanent snow pack on the ground and Lake Erie is almost if not completely frozen over.

Thought I’d drop by since I hadn’t been in for a spell, Zoe can I have an irish coffee on this very foggy day please dear.

Weathers was great yesterday sunny with a high round 55, todays supposed to be in the 50’s again an sun, a whole lot better than last year. The 1’st we started getting freezing rain by 9 pm electric was out. We got up the 2’nd an 1”+ of ice, to no electric and high wind, got power back for 2 hours, and then lost it for 6 days. It was fun trying to keep us, Jim next door and pipes warm, plus keeping toilet flushin n drinkin water. Needless to say, it wasn’t very enjoyable and Mother never wants to have another candle light romantic dinner.

Got my last and best Christmas present couple week ago,,, my grandson came home from Korea after a year. He’ll here till next Saturday then he goes to FT Bragg..

Have been kinda keeping up some with the goings on here,, but hadn’t finished any of the post I started. Seems I kept getting interrupted by kids or something else that need doing. I’ve enjoyed all the photos and projects reports that’s been posted tho.

I’ve been runnin trains most every day; helps keep the kids out of trouble for a few minutes. And workin on the layout some when granny or mommy’s home to keep the girls busy. Need to find a new AC power supply for the switches. The old one was bout wore out and I had a couple wallwarts that I was going to use, but derned if I can find them now. Oh well normal for round here.

Best get movin afore I get to windy, bout time for me to get Mother up for work [Beth’s already gone] , Leroy n KC n fed for school, Yazee will be up in a bit needing a cuppy and a dry pullup and I’m sure Roary will need a diaper and her bottle.

Thoughts n prayers for all those in need and some days the list keeps growing. Tis good to hear of severals improving health.

Good morning. It's 63° and cloudy with fog and a 20% chance of rain this morning. The high will be 75° with a 30% chance of rain for the afternoon and evening. Looks like it's going to be wet all the way through to Monday.

Got a doctors appointment in a couple of hours so I don't really have time for anything else this morning. There's been a lapse in security on the layout. The wolf spider has died. In time a suitable replacement may come along. Well, see y'all later.

Ohio Gozimasen,

Thought it was taking a long time to get to the diner even through cyber space. Japan, eh? Yeah been there too courtesy of our uncle. Mostly Okinawa with some side trips (TAD to us) to Yokosuka and Misawa. Been down with a cold or somesuch the last couple of days and just now getting back to human. Missed both the afterschool trains and museum this week but in between sleep and sneezing did get some of the micro engineering viaduct started. Tons of little tiny pieces but it seems quite strong once it's assembled (used Tenax 7R for most of it).

Back in the shop now to catch up jobs. Catch Y'all later, J.R.

Good Morning!

It is icy cold up here. Nighttime "high" was 5 F in our neck of woods and it is supposed to get even lower than that in the coming days. Bad times for the homeless!

Just a couple of pictures to get a feeling for Japanese Railroading:

Only the bullet trains run on standard gauge, the remaining network is narrow gauge (3 1/2 ft.). I find Japanese trains quite impressive!

Flo, coffee and a bowl of cereals, please.

Have a good day!
