Morning All,
Pretty quite here. Just reviewing the forums drinking a coffee. Going to the club later. I go back to work Sunday. It has been good to hear from some folks that haven't been around much.
MOH and I are part of the FL skunk rescue organization which is part of a informal rescue covering the US. Last night we received word that some woman took her 1 year old skunk to a taxidermy shop to be stuffed (it was still alive) but the guy refused to his credit. Now several people have been trying to contact the lady (WV/KY/OH area, no one is exactly sure) to rescue the animal but no one has been successful. My opinion is the lady should be stuffed. Unbelievable.
I think I am going to repaint my mountain. The Grey color looks funny next to the brown that I just finished.
Barry- I remember the first cloverleaf that was built in El Paso during the 60's.It was a big deal then.
Ray- I look forward to seeing your progress photos for your new layout. I'm sure it's an exciting time for you.
Jeff- You are a MRR working machine sir...
Talk to you all later.

Good morning. It's 68° with heavy clouds and thunder. The high will be 72°. There's an 80% chance of rain and thunderstorms. Here it is 7:25 am and it's still pitch black dark. We're under a flash flood watch for what looks like a good part of central Louisiana. The lake is back up to it's normal level and probably a little above by now. I'm glad my home is on a hill top about thirty four feet above lake level. The highest the water has ever come up was twelve feet. It couldn't go any higher as the water was pouring over the top of the dam. For some reason the flood gates wouldn't open. Jammed up with logs I think.Well, already this morning I've added weight to all seven of the KO&G boxcars. It took a piece of sheet lead the length and width of the car to raise the weight to 3.9 - 4.2 ounces. The dry ice reefer is next.

Well, today is tax day!
MOH should be getting quite a healthy refund this year, we hope. Last year barely got anything, so we adjusted the tax rate as not enough was taken out to cover actual taxes owed.
It is already spent before we get it! as always. It will help pay off a few bills. I think we will go with Direct Deposit so we get it faster in our hands.
Only 2 more {fairly high for us} payments due on the furnace then it weill be paid off with no interest due or owed!!! THEN we can get about paying off the other bills I have been making minimum payments on the get the furnace paid off in the 6 months no interest period!
Well, talk at you later!

Good morning, Chloe. I could sleep in today, but oh no, my head was full of the meeting yesterday. I just couldn't let stuff go. That's why I don't like to work on Friday. Coffee, please, and one of those cinnamon rolls with frosting oozing all over.
Ulrich, Nice photos. Thanks for sharing.

Good Morning Gang!
Saturday morning - time for a hearty breakfast!
Janie, a gallon of coffee, scrambled eggs, bacon, buttered toast and a tall glass of OJ, please.
Found a note in my mailbox, that there is a package waiting for me at our local post office. We were in, but nobody rang. It was probably too cold outside to wait that second until we could open the door . This morning I went to our post office - no package. I am supposed to drive all the way to Hamburg, that´s a 65 mile round trip, to pick it up. No way, Sir - they have to deliver it again, but this time they´ll have to wait for us to open the door! I had to wait half an hour on their "hot"line until I could get through! So much for service.
At least I know what it is - my JNR class C62 Hudson, sponsored by a friend from Australia. All I have to pay is the VAT of about $ 30.
Jeff - that´s a nice looking string of "blue" box cars you´ve got there
It is still icy cold here, but not much snow, just a little dusting. I could certainly do without.
Have a good one!

Enjoy your day!!!
Evenin' Everyone!
Just dropping in to say "Howdy"
I got a new job & it is taking quite a bit of time, with the commute & what not. It's seriously cutting back my modelling efforts, but at least I am able to still work at it & have a a place to stay, afford some detail parts, & keep things on the rails!Just at a slower pace than before..
I'm pretty happy that I can continue to do these things, & hope to keep contributing like before, even if it may be less often.
I wish you all the best, & let me buy you a round!
Take care!
Good evening/morning y'all. Just stopping in to see how everyone is doing. I'm about to head off to bed, I just had to get some laundry finished up before heading that way. Have to w**k tomorrow, so can't stay up too awfully late anymore, but that's all right too, I like getting some sleep.
Later taters!
Chamomile tea, please.
***Darren, are you going to make a "snow train" once it lets up?
***Ray, congrats on figuring out the wiring issues. That didn't sound good.
***Jeffrey, fine looking train. Looks like a lot of weathering work for you in the near future.
Been feeling cold tonight. Have the heat turned on and am using an electric blanket. Sometimes this body needs a little help. Time to hit the hay. See y'all tomorrow. Rob
Evenin' folks!
Janie, just a decaf please.
Did a lot of odds and ends today. Ran over to one of the elementary schools and dropped off the last piece of poetry THAT had somehow gotten separated from the rest going to the building., came home and headed down stairs to remove the lighting which was over the old peninsula of the layout. Turned off the lights on the layout after bringing in another large lamp to help light the room while I worked, unscrewed the fixture and dropped down the fixture to where I could unhook the wires from the part I was removing... Bent the fixure over a bit, and saw a spark..... Thought this is not good! Went and checked the circuit back where the lights come off the wiring by my workbench and found out two not good things!
First I found the "hot" wire (black) was not, and the white wire was hot! I also found using a test set that the reason I didn't throw a breaker when I made contact was the ground was weak as well. Hmmmm. I usually do much better electric than THAT so I started checking. Sure enough when I had the new electric circuit put in on a wall switch. I wired the extension cord to the electric at my workbench (which powers everything train related so one switch turns everything off) backwards and had the white on the hot side. I must be getting old or just wasn't thinking. That happened a little over a year ago. I corrected it and went looking for the ground wire problem.... Ended up spending most of the day rewiring all the wiring at the workbench including replacing the ancient box I installed almost 30 years ago that was old back then..... I now have properly wired and grounded power on the layout at least.
I did finally get the lighting removed and stored for when I rebuild the area. I also got a phone call from the painter. I am getting the floor done professionally as it is concrete and he has the right stuff to do it! He starts by telling me he would be glad to do the job as long as I don't need it done yesterday. I replied, "Oh no, tomorrow would be fine!" He will stop over sometime next week and give me an estimate on it and a tentative date when they can do it for me. I have plenty of other things to do in the mean time, and I have a lot of moving of items to do before he can have a crew come do it anyway.
Time to go feed the woodstove and head to bed.
Prayers for all in need!

Good Evening Modelers!
Well, it's been SNOWING! here for about 30+ hours now and will continue through the night. Would say I have about 12-18" on level snow and might reach 24" by Saturday. Some cities are reporting nearly 3ft!!!

Time for me to call it a night. It's been very busy day what with all the work I did on the rolling stock and I'm very tired. Not to mention bringing the groceries in. Trying to balance a load like that while coming up the steps is hard and I almost have to drop to my knees to get in the door. Well, nobody said life was easy. See y'all tomorrow.
saronaterry Jeff, PM me your site? Thanks again! Terry in NW Wisconsin
Jeff, PM me your site? Thanks again!
Just looked at the radar. Looks like we might be getting another line of storms later tonight.
David: As I told Rob I'm not trying to show anybody up or show off. I'm just trying to get them done before they get pushed onto the back burner by something else. The absent-minded professor has nothing on me when it comes to getting distracted.
Thank you, Jeff!! Don't know what else I could say. I'll pass that along to Steve.( I still can't reply to PMs.)
Jeff: You are doing good work on getting that rolling stock in running order. Be careful. These guys might think you are trying to show them up with how fast you work. It must be nice to have all that free time.
David Parks I am the terror that flaps in the night!
Terry: I sent you a PM.
Evening All,
Nothing happening this way tonight, sitting here watching Jeopardy. Will probably go to club tomorrow since I go to work Sunday at 4 PM. I wonder if I will be able to see the Super Bowl. I finished the back section and took some photos. I'll post a couple and I put some before and after in WPF this week.
Everybody have a good night.
Hi, all!
Thanks for the kind words for my son, I'll pass them along in the next letter.
And thanks for the comments on the hayfield, it is starting to grow on me!
I might try to "mow " a scrap piece to see if it looks a little better ( thanks, Rob! Good catch! )
Got half the roof shingled today, 44f and sunny!! Tired and sore , though! Turned 54 a couple weeks ago and feeling ALL of that!!
I also got the benchwork and 2" foam down for the new Altoona ( Eau Claire ) staging track installed, hopefully the "honey-do" isn't too bad this weekend and I can get it up and running.
An "in progress" pic from last year:
That's all for now!
Cederstrand ***Jeffrey you are quite the endeavourous MRR'er today. I'm often impressed with how much you get done. You put some of us entirely to shame.

Can't believe I forgot to get an ankle brace while in town today. Limping around and written on my To Do list, yet it never occured to me. D'oh!
Well, time to hobble off and do evening critter rounds. Rob
