QUOTE: Originally posted by dgoodlander Anything with Union Pacific on it. I'm tired of going to all the LHS and seeing UP items on shelves. There are other railroads out there manufacturers. Why must every new release of rolling stock or locos have UP items in the offering? BORING!
Have fun with your trains
QUOTE: Originally posted by DSchmitt SPSF merger paint scheme locomotives http://atsf.railfan.net/sfkodcrm/ On the Southern Pacific locals the SP was positioned to allow adding SF after merger approval. On the Santa Fe the SF was positioned so that the SP could be added. It is a beautiful paint scheme which combines the Southern Pacific Daylight colors with the historic Santa Fe image. Definately better than any of the BNSF schemes. I do agree with Big_Boy_4005 that the other SP Daylight scheme is bad. It looks even worse in black and white: photo: http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/sp/sp7032ags.jpg The Daylight colors can look great on a Diesel http://espee.railfan.net/nonindex/pa_photos/6038_sp-pa2-yardclerk.jpg http://espee.railfan.net/nonindex/e-unit_photos/6000_sp-e7-don_jewell.jpg

QUOTE: In 1977, SP sold 4 written off U25B's to Morrison Knudsen, for re-engining with Swiss built Sulzer 3000hp (derated to 2800 hp) V-12's. Not much was reused, only the trucks, traction motors, frame, main generator, cab and nose. The long hood was rebuilt 10 inches higher, and 4 inches wider to take the Sulzer engine, looking like a GP30 over the cab roof area. When released from MK, these units had a variation on the Daylight paint. The color scheme was an experimental variation designed by Chester Mack in 1978. Nicknamed 'Popsicles' - Microscale has a decal sheet - 60-186 or 87-186 for the 'Popsicle' TE 70-4S paint scheme. Had these units been successful, Espee had in mind rebuilding about 50 written off U25B's, as it turned out, they were not totally successful, and were set aside as soon as the economy got tough, in the early 1980's.
I tried to sell my two cents worth, but no one would give me a plug nickel for it.
I don't have a leg to stand on.
QUOTE: Originally posted by ben10ben That's pretty much it. Thanks, Elliot. The one that I was thinking of had the "SP" placed farther forward, right at the start of the red portion, but other than that, it's identical.
QUOTE: Originally posted by JPM335 I agree that ACL is pretty bad, Ben do you have a pic of the SF-SP paint? Id like to see that
