Rob ... I'm glad to see you in the diner. We're still herefor you always of course. Feel free to contact me or any of us diners anytime.  Prayers for you.

Yougottawanta ... Good to see you here. Sounds like it is eventful for you. Congratulations about your going to be a grandpa. Time to bring another locomotive engineer into the world.

Jeff ... The scene you posted with the car behind the building looks great.

Ray ... I like the DPM power house kit becasue you can adjust it to fit the layout. Usually, there is not enough room, too.

I completed my DPM powerhouse only a few months ago. I'm still not done with surounding scenery, so I'll post pictures of work in progress. It includes an Atlas substation modified to fit the location.

First photo shows  the power house looking across the streetcar line under construction. You can see "Reggie's Junkyard" in the backgound. Also in the background are passenger cars parked while I complete Union Station. The street car line coming from the left is from downtown, and the streetcar line going to the right is to Union Station.

Second photo is from the other side. You can see the elevated streetcar line and the orad it is in. In the background are storage cabinets filled with stuff for the layout. The layout is underconstruction behind the pwoer house in this picture.

I put black constrution paper inside the windows to block the view.

Cheers, everybody.

Goooooooooooooooooooooooooood *yawn* mornin....

RAY and GARRY: Thanks guys, for posting pics of THAT power station. Eventually, I'll need to build this

as a background flat. At first I was thinking about using the DPM kit and heavily modifying it...now, after seeing it "in person," I'm thinking of going back to my first idea: scratch building.

With a "no obligations pressing" day, I managed to get a little w**k done on some more freight cars. Just what I "need," a bunch more freight cars competing for shelf space. Dunce What I OUGHTA be doing, is getting THAT trackplan figured out and more or less finalized...uh, realizing THAT once track actually starts to go down, the plan will likely be only a mere suggestion...Whistling

Buildin' freight cars is easier...

Good night/good morning, best wishes to all in need...

Good Morning!

Happy B-Day - Thayne!

Well, folks, today´s our last day here in Germany. We will take an early train from Lübeck to Hamburg, arriving at Hamburg´s main station before noon.

The subway will take us to Ballinstadt - a museum of emigration, the counter part to New York´s Ellis island. Who knows, one of us may find records of his/her ancestors there!

The afternoon will see a farewell party on board the tall ship "Rickmer Rickmers" .

It´ll be time to say goodbye to Germany in the evening. The subway will take us to the airport, where a big bird is waiting for us to take us back to the States and Canada.

It was a pleasure to be your host on this tour throughout Germany. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

Have a good day!

Good Morning...

It looks like both GMT and Flip are both having the silent post issue...make sure your browser is on compatibility mode here..or we may be seeing the start of an OOPS kinda Sunday....Whistling

Here is hoping that my post does not go awry as well...

Getting a lot of sunshine here with better temperatures..supposed to get to 53F here....

Chris: I literally had to give up on actually planning my layout and just blunderbuss my way into it...everything I tried gave me issues  even the best planning guides just left me going ...eh?  ....so I just said to myself...self? Just get on with the layout....Mischief...maybe if I had a few more JD's....Whistling

I've got a couple of things to do this morning then it is off to the university with the little one's..ie: cousins to see the university itself...

Flo, I'll just have a coffee for now please...I'll be at the RC for a bit.

Good morning. It's 42° and mostly cloudy. The high will be 69° and it will be sunny.

Mainly cleanup today. Never did get around to putting the L&A decals on the Front Range hopper. I had more important family concerns to attend to. My mother fell yesterday and couldn't move. She's had previous back injuries and we dared not attempting to move her. Paramedics were summoned and she was taken off to the hospital. I haven't heard anything yet on her condition. She was incoherent and only vaguely responsive. Her blood sugar turned out to be nineteen and that can't be good. The lowest mine has ever been was in the twenties and I remember how that felt. I'm hoping to hear some good news today.

For sale: 1958 Plymouth Fury. Name: Christine. Last registered owner: Ezekiel Johnson (deceased). Car has been parked for ten years. Was running when parked. Be aware that the car had a sinister effect on all who have owned it.

Flip (FEC153) and JR ..... Don't you guys just love modern technology? Super Angry

Jeff ... Can you give computer lessons again? ..... I think this is what to do. Flip and JR (Hope this is correct) . This computer has Internet Explorer. Top bar of screen is blue. Next bar immediately below white bar has a bunch of stuff there. The long box has internet address (or link) beginning with "http" after the Internet Explorer "E". Immediately to the right is a small box with green squiggley lines. Hold your mouse over it and see if it says "compatibility view". If that is what is says, click on it and try again.... I hope it works. ...

JR must be on another computer becuase he has been here.

Flip ... I hope you can get in. We'd love to hear from you.

Any other computer geeks? Feel free to help.

Ulrich   .. A huge THANK YOU to you for the tour. The photos were beautiful. What shall we do for November?

Look to the right of the address bar. There's a small icon that looks like a torn piece of paper. Click it once. That should clear up the problem. If not, try another browser. I dropped IE and went to Firefox.

 Morning Folks!

 Flo, coffee pleases.

I am off today and I sure need it. Getting up at 5:30 AM has been hard. Today I sleep in to 7:30 and I am still tired. Legs and feet are stiff, but not as bad as they had.

Next quest will be getting a good used car. Hopping to keep it under $3,000.00. While I would hate to do it, might have to go to a buy here pay here lot.

  Thayne Happy B-Day

 See you later, Ken

Coffee in a Sunny, Sad & Southern mug, please.

Some really great layout pics have been posted. Won't even be thinking of working on layouts here until next year. Way to many hurdles to overcome until then. Hopefully one day though.

***Jeffrey, reminded me that I still have an old Sportsman Van sitting (over 15 years now) back in WA. It was running when I parked it back then, too. I didn't want to tow it behind U-hauls biggest truck to get it here. I'll bet it has changed from white to green by now and would be a bit difficult to start.Whistling

***yougottawanta, bringing in those boxes of trains and setting them up like that for the kids is how it all starts. Sounded like a grand time for all involved.

Trying to rest some today. It's been more difficult than usual to sleep with so much uncertainty on my mind. Sigh Rob

Morning All,

Sitting here waiting until I have to w**k today. I picked up 8 hours of OT today from 2-10 PM. I purchased a new camera yesterday. I shot a short video and a bunch of stills and I am very happy with it. I decided on the Canon Power Shot ELPH 100 HS. I am off tomorrow so I think I will be putting together my Tichy Steel water tank.

Barry- That is going to be a neat siding.

Garry- Very nice modeling.

Jeff- I hope your Mother is OK. I am sending prayers her wayAngel. Would your car be called Christine?

Everybody have a good day.

Whew!  Morning all.... I'll have to have mine to go.  Got 6" of snow to clear off of my driveway today!  And I live in South Central CT!

Almost half of the state -- including the entire northwest half of the state -- basically a line from Ridgefield up through Woodstock, basically has no power.  This is maybe worse than Hurricane / TS Irene just two months ago.  Check out the CT Light & Power Outage Map here.

Last time I went 8+ days without power.  Obviously, I was spared this time around.

OK, gotta run.  Picked up a used John Deere snowblower for $50 in the spring.  Gotta go see if I can't get it running.

Guten Morgen an alle! Seit heute ist unser letzter Tag hier in Deutschland, werde ich einige Apfel-Pfannkuchen mit Wurst und alle trimings zu gehen zusammen mit meinen dunklen Röstkaffee.

Looks like we are at the end of the line for this month.  Wonder where the diner is located for our arrival back home?  Ulrich, thanks much for your wonderful tour and beautiful photos of your country.

Galaxy, since you posted soon after midnight, I guess it was a short night...Whistling  Hope you got back to sleep without tossing and turning for 3 or 4 hours.  Hope you are staying warm.

Rob, you would probably have to charge the battery at least.....Whistling  You are still in my prayers!

I will be leaving soon to go out to the R&GV RR Museum and the New York Museum of Transportation to help the Scouts earn the RR Merit Badge.  Hope I can sign off on several requirements today.

The ground was white when I got up this morning, but not from s%ow....  Jack left his presence on the ground, trees, and roofs last night.  Currently 44°F outside under sunny skies.  The high will be 48°F by noon.  Then it will slip back down to 31°F tonight....  The wood stove sure feels good when it is fired up!

As soon as I get home form the museums this afternoon I will head over to my son's house to celebrate his 45th. birthday.  It was actually on Friday, but they do parties on Sunday Evenings at their house.  THAT lets more family show up.

Best get moving.

Good Morning!! Coffee please. Thanks

A 40 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 62.

Don’t think I’ll do anything constructive today. Just that kinda day.

J.R.- You’ve hit it right. Sad to see the old home go, but relieved at the same time. The people who are buying it are real nice and I think that it was worth the wait for the right people. Some things just work out that way for the best.

Rob- I’d love to post progress pics, but I haven’t been doin anything for a long time. Hopefull;y that will change here pretty quick. Starting to get itchy.

I’m ignoring Ken again.

Thayne- Happy Birthday late!

Jeff- I hope your Mother is ok.

YGW- I’m sorry to hear of the tragedies you’ve had around you too. Congrtats on becoming a Grandpa soon.

Like I said, nothing planned today other than Golden Corral to check out the chocolate fountain. Chocolate covered chicken…hmmm. Then to the Walmart for candy for the little beggers. Will have to stay home tomorrow as Brenda has already asked if I was going to find some reason to not be home again this year.Grumpy

Oh I can’t resist….. I don’t know beans about hoppers. (you saw that coming didn’t you? Surprised Garry didn‘t beat me to it.)

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

I realized I forgot 2 things,

Thayne-Happy B-Day. Hope you get a chance to do some MRR today.

Garry- I decided to put in home made shades pulled part way down made out of a cheapie for sale sign. It breaks up the window and implies people are in the building (for me anyway). Please don't take this wrong, I'm just telling you what I did.

I'm going to use this on my engine servicing facility section.

RAY- I post a g'nite posting when I shut down the computer for the night. Then when I get up to uh..er..ah...use the outhouse...I sign back on if it is anytime after midnight and post a g'morning post, THEN go back to bed until around 5 AM. That's how I do it!! Some nights I DO toss and turn and have trouble getting back to sleep, but I would whether I posted g'morning or not. Now the secret is out!

Well my mother is back home and is her usual self. She has some bruises but apart from that she's OK. She was in a borderline comatose state due to low blood sugar. Maybe she'll be more mindful of it now. I'm not holding my breath.
