Rob,

I am so sorry to hear about your wife.  You are in our prayers.  Remember that your MR family here at the diner really cares.

Afternoon,

I was shocked when I saw Lee's email last night. I can't imagine the pain and sense of loss Rob is going through. Not much else to say now.

Garry- I would be honored to add a PRR coach to the chapel train going to Rob's farm.

The Chapel Car has been dispatched on a special train to ROb's farm in GA. Crews quickly grabbed some cars for the special train in addition to the Chapel Car.

The locomotive is my Southern Railroad Mantua 4-6-2 for the trip to Rob's farm in Georgia.

Cars are NP Baggage, CB&Q HW Diner, and NP coach.

Morning all!

Finally made it in here. I had some time yesterday, and intended to come post, but was blocked out. I made sure to keep myself logged in the past few days (although I always do anyway), but, nevertheless, I was automatically logged out anyway. Luckily, I looked at the forums this morning and saw  Ken's post, finally allowing me to get back here. Thanks again, Ken!

Rob, I am so sorry to hear of Barbara's passing. May she rest in peace. Angel

Been very busy around here lately. The first college deadlines are two weeks from Tuesday, so I'm pushing to get those out of the way. I already asked for teacher reccomendations, requested transcripts, submitted two supplements, and paid two schools. The Common Application is nearly done, and just I just need to upload my essay (which is 99% done) and do a final check. Then, I need to fill out the Rutgers app, write THAT essay, send SAT and ACT scores, and check out scholarship forms for all schools (which may or may not have the same deadlines as the applications themselves). Ugh. I can't wait for all of this to be done.

Fortunately, my Eagle Scout Court of Honor was last weekend, so THAT's one thing off the list. It was very nice. I got a lot of train money, which is always nice... Mischief
For those who may not remember my project, here it is:

We built the stage, the soffit above it, and painted the area. It definitely improved the overall appearance of the church basement. The Court of Honor itself was held on the stage, which added a nice touch.

Well (finally receding after all of the rain the past few weeks has ended), I need to finish up THAT essay.

Catch ya later!

Galaxy .... I was trying to obtain you email yesterday along with others. Of the people I contacted none had your address.

Ken ... Jeff and others have Rob's email. You can try emailing those whose addresses you have.

You can also get his email from his website, too.  http://cederstrand.homestead.com/cederstrandstudio.html

Make sure you spell "ceder" correctly. (Not "cedar")

If you look at Rob's website, you will see he is a talented artist for certain.

As of last night Rob appreciated the emails he received so far.

Good morning. It's 64° and sunny. The high will be 88° and it will remain sunny.

One of today's projects will be a repair mission. Yesterday I broke the rear coupler pocket on my P2K/Athearn SDP40F. Today I'll have to repair or replace it. One of the wires joining it to it's mate, an Athearn SDP40F was damaged as well.

I'm finished with the GP9m's for now and they're in the display rack. I need to get decoders for them that have a higher current rating. The DZ125's I put in them have a 1.25 amp peak load and are at the edge of their limit and have a couple of burn marks on them. The decoders still work but they won't last under a load. The DZ123 has a higher peak load (2 amps) and ,ay be a good replacement.

Thanks to Ken I was able to log in this morning. I hope others use his trick.

I was fine on Friday. I could come on/off as necessary. But after my wake up post on Saturday and Todd's post followinfg Ulrich's castle photos, It went Boom and locked me out. I wrote off a letter to Kalmbach asking how I could be set for the weekend and then BAM get locked out an unable to log back in? I got no response.

But as I check throughout the day, i noticed todd's was still the last for the diner all day and the threads had not moved any. SO I assumed it locked up. I think it did,

I used no "trick" to log back on this morning,, just noticed the threads and the names on the last diner posting had changed so I chanced it and  just logged back in, and Voila! Here I AM! Much to your pleasure!

GARRY- Add my condolences to the list, please. Angel

Good Morning,

I didn't have the computer on yesterday but when I read my e-mail from Garry this morning I was shocked at the tragic news about Rob's wife. I just wish I didn't live so far away as I'd love to be able to help out Rob on his farm at this time.

Don't know what else to say right now, maybe later.

Ken... I thought I had your email address, but I lost it. If you still have mine, you can email me for Rob's.

I spoke on the phone with Jeff yesterday. What a good guy! He had some email addresses.

Other DIners supplied more email addresses, too, and I used them.

 Flo, ice water please.

Well, it is nice to get back on line rather I figured it out or IT got done with there deal.

Yesterday Guess it was around 11:00 AM I started running a fever again. Ick! Pretty much down and out for the whole day. At one point my temperature hit 101.8. Fever broke around 2:00 AM today and I am felling pretty normal, for now that is.

Thanks to Ken I was able to log in this morning. I hope others use his trick.

Now, as for my activities yesterday there was only one project of note.

My was to wire two GP9m's together in a permanent consist. Usually the biggest problem with this is what to do with the wires. The best thing is to make them look like something that would actually be there between two 1:1 locos. An air hose and an mu cable. The wire I used was cut from a 9-pin JST harness just so you know how small they are. Instead of trying to explain how it looks I'll let the photos do the talking.

Relatively close close-up:

Closer still:

And this is as close as I could get without hitting the locos:

As to why I did it, the lead unit (Walthers Trainline GP9m) has pickup problems that just kill it's performance. By hard wiring it to the trailing unit (a Frankenstein I built with Front Range, Athearn and Proto 2000 parts) which has excellent pickup I get the full combined pulling power of both locos and steady smooth performance from both. Not the ideal solution but it works.

Good Morning!! Coffee and stru…whoa-ho-ho-hoooo! Breakfast bar!? Wow! It looks fantastic! I’ll have that.

Sunny, with a high near 67.

COOL! Look at the Castle! I wanna castle.

Glad you’re back Ulrich, you worry me sometimes my friend.

Rough night at w**k last nightSigh. I’m gonna w**k tonight for a guy.

Got the tractor in the back of the truck. Used the ditch at Mom’s, hopefully the ramps won’t be too steep to get the thing out. Otherwise I may use the old loading dock up the elevator and then just Water Boy my way across town to homeCool.

I’m like Jeff, I stay logged in all the time. From time to time my anti-virus or spy ware/ad ware hunters will wipe the cookie out, but usually it doesn’t happen anymore. Don’t know why sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn’t. Doesn’t as much lately as it used too. Mostly any more just when the cookie expires. I guess they still do that. Of course it has happened twice in the last three or four days too. Confused Ah..Who knows.

Curt- Hope the itching goes away.

PATom- I know what you mean on the hospital times. Luckily the one Mom always went to had excellent food also. Watch her at the Care Facility (here in the diner referred to as “The Stalag”). I don’t want to be an alarmist, but that was what started my Mom’s physical decline oddly enough.

Ray- Nice looking snow scene to the left there on that big picture. Are you gonna continue it? Laugh just kidding. Seriously, is that the usual way you do things? Lay plaster over the entire surface before adding ground cover? Should I be contemplating this myself when I get back down there? If so, do you have any trouble with cracking over time?

Well, not sure if I’ll get the tractor out of the truck today or tomorrow now that I think about it. I should today so I can haul some stuff I’ve been putting off from Mom’s house. Just a little bit left. It appears, though I have no word YET that I have about two weeks to get this done before closing and the prospective buyers made it clear they wanted immediate possession. If I keep stalling I’ll once again be in a bind. As usual.

Been getting myself in a lot of "binds" here lately.Sigh

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

A really early Goood Morning to everyone, had trouble sleeping so I thought I'd stop in for a bit.  And Thanks All for the  warm Welcome.

Jeffrey- you wanted to know a little something about me. well I'm 50 (seems to feel like 150 some days) I' have been into model railroading since '76 when my older cousin took me out east on a photo trip.  When we got back to home I asked him to show me how to get started. He gave me a B&O engine (sorry I don't Remember the type of engine maybe SD-40 ?) some of his rolling  stock, a couple of buildings, track & power pack enough for a 4 x 8 oval with a siding. That's probably why I model the B&O.  I have been a member of the Naptown & White River Mrrc. here in Indianapolis, Ind. for 11+ yrs. I enjoy Operations, building structures & scenery. I recently started building wooden car kits. I'll Stop in later, I did have one question, do all posts have to be approved or is it a temporary thing for us newbies ?.

Good Morning Gang!

I was out of order for a couple of days, but here I am now, back again, after I commanded my shattered nerves to get into the lifeboats and pull the ship out of the doldrums.

We spent the last couple of days in Munich and I hope, you enjoyed exploring the city. It is time to move on now, so we will go on a day trip to Füssen. Not much there to see but this:

Jeff - you asked for a wake-up call once we arrive at Neuschwanstein. Well, here we are! After taking the tour of this castle, a bus will take us to Schloss Linderhof, another jewel of crazy Ludwig´s dream castles and palaces.

After having a look at this palace, actually my personal favourite among crazy Ludwig´s castles, we will return to Munich by bus, stopping at Starnberger See to pay our respect to him at the site of his sudden death, which remains a mystery until today.

The next days we will still stay in Bavaria, visiting some more spectacular places, before our tour will take a turn and head for Nuremberg and Berlin. Lots of things to see there and it´ll turn a little bit more "railroady" again.

Enjoy your day!

Evenin' folks!

Thought I would stop in and have my evening decaf here as usual.

Got quite a few things done today including getting my hearing aid fixed (broken battery door on one) and cleaned.  Then I went down to the local DMV to renew my NYS Drivers License.  Figured it was a good time while the hearing aids were working correctly.  I asked about the hearing aid question for the license and she asked me if I wear them all the time.  I said all day except for bedtime and when i don't want to hear anyone...  Actually I don't wear them quite a bit.  I also told her the lady last time gave me a "Hearing Test" without the aids.  She handed me my application back and said check the box that says hearing aids!  Anyway i have a new license...  One that says F after the word restrictions...  Restriction F is that I have to be wearing my hearing aids while I drive.....  Not a problem.  Doesn't say they have to be turned on......Whistling  Depends who is in the car with me. Laugh

Also got quite a bit done on some scenery today.  Finished putting dilute plaster on the plaster cloth, let it dry and got some of it painted.  (Paint was still wet when I took the photos.  It will dry to a nice flat finish...)

Hope you all have a great night!  My prayers for all in need........

Thanks to all for your kind comments concerning my wife. I just got back from the hospital, and I'll tell you what, spending 6 or 7 hours there is like waiting for water to boil. The up side, the food in the cafeteria is excellent. Anyway, they are trying to get her admitted to a skilled nursing center either this weekend or the first of the week. She will be unable to put any weight on the leg for 8 weeks, then they will take the screws out., and  nobody can say how long after that she will be able to try and walk. I think this is going to put a real damper on things right through the holidays.

I'm pretty sure she is beginning to feel a little better though, because she was telling me tonight all the things I have to do here at home. I shake my head and say "yes dear", then ptomptly erase it from my mind. After all, she's not here to check. Wink

I hope everyone has a great weekend...

Curt It was I that recommend U Tube. Quality of the image was fine, but it would freeze and move, freeze and move. Sound would keep going but not the image. Maybe just my computer but U Tube videos don't do it on my computer.

Again I have to add, your layout is looking way better than mine.

Evening All,

I had the 2 cysts removed today and it only took around 2 hours. My doctor and I had a very long conversation covering many subjects including model railroading, rail fanning and excursion trains. It sounded like he really wants to do the CN excursion train across Canada. I'm just a tad bit sore at the sites, but they are starting to itchTongue Tied.

My son and I went to the movie "The Thing" this afternoon. If any of you like monster type horror movies, this was a good one and tied  perfectly into the Kurt Russel movie.Yes

I got the wood support frames glued into the floor today and tested the rails and they all work fine.

I forget who recommended You Tube for my videos but I don't see a difference in the quality of it.

Everybody have a good night.
