Heartland Division CB&Q I obtained emails for many of you and emailed the sad news about Rob Cederstrand. I am sorry I could not reach all of you. Yesterday afternoon I received a sad email from Rob Cederstrand of the Diner. I have been obtaining email addresses and sending messages. Rob's wife Barbara, passed away suddenly. Rob is too upset to talk on phone. Condolences can be emailed: Send me a PM for his email address.
I obtained emails for many of you and emailed the sad news about Rob Cederstrand.

Good evening all. I truly don't know what to say at a moment like this. Our hearts and prayers are with Rob and his family while they go through this extremely difficult time. All I can say is that if there is any way we can help out, we will do so. I'd also like to dispatch my SD40-2 and my CW40-8 to help with the pulling duties on the special, and if need be, to pull a second section.

Had to w**k today this whole weekend, so I've been a little disconnected, got online this evening to catch up and saw the sad, sad news. Garry, if you get a chance, please, please pass along our thoughts and condolences.
Just wow....kinda hard to say more when something like this happens.
Garry, I think it is going to be a little crowded in the chapel car so I would like to donate for this trip a Milwaukee Road Sky Dome that we can use as an overflow for the chapel.
I sent Rob an Email last evening expressing our condolences, This is such a sad time for our friend.

Good evening Diners: Garry and others, thanks for all you've done in alerting us to the news about Rob. Just wanted to add a note from Kris and me for Rob. We've sent an eCard earlier today, but now I see a train is being put together, I'd like to add this car.
It doesn't look much, but may be appreciated for its interior.
as you can see there are rooms for groups, as well as more solitary spaces for quite thoughts, especially if the Chapel Car is busy.

Garry...I thought the email address I supplied MR here rfor the trains.com site appeared on my profiel page, but i was wrong.
I have tried 3 times tonight to send you a PM but to no avail, unless you got 1 or 3 of them and it tells me otherwise.
I have contacted Jeffrey wimberly to see if he wants to be a "keeper " of it so he or others can get ahold of me without getting inundated with junk mails. He has my home address, and thought he had my email address as well, til I realized we only communicated with each other through PMs here.
It's nto a big secret, my email address, I just don't want it getting out of control and I kinda like to keep my life a little private form my online life, as do otehrs.
SOmewhere I'm missing on ROb's email addy too, but I fear He wouldn't want a boat load coming his way at a time of grief eitehr, especially if he is choking up on the phone.
I have no special car to add to the train that is apparently collecting to go to him, either.
Again Pass on my condolences to him when you DO get in contact with him.

I too was both shocked and deeply saddened to hear about Rob's wife..... Wish there was something I could do to be of help to him at this time. I am sending down my finest Baggage Car from the SLOW as with so many of us on board, I'm sure we will need an extra baggage car for the trip..

Spent all day out at the R&GV RR Museum on train crew today. i was smart this time and grabbed the PC caboose THAT has working heat..... Other than a few sprinkles today it was nice cold, crisp Fall weather here. The stove felt good every time I walked by it. My two SILs came out to the museum this afternoon and seemed to have a great time. Today was very busy with full loads of people right to the end of the day.
Glad the site is back up and running tonight.
Prayers for Rob and his family/friends during this time!

Will post later (maybe Monday or Tuesday) about my MRR'ing over the weekend. Some of it involved trees, though different from those in Rob's area.

We're getting quite a train for Georgia. I'm impressed. Looks like we have a double header, too with Ken adding a nice looking locomotive.
Ken .... Could you please contact Simon? I'm sure Rob would like hearing from him, too. Rob's website makes it easy to get his email.
I suspect when Rob has a chance to see the Diner, he will be impressed with the comments and the size of the special train.
As information, Rob has told me there will not be any funeral in respect to Barbara's wishes. His family will have a small memorial at Rob's farm, and he has not told when.

Mr. Dispatcher Jeffrey- you wanted to know a little something about me. well I'm 50 (seems to feel like 150 some days) I' have been into model railroading since '76 when my older cousin took me out east on a photo trip. When we got back to home I asked him to show me how to get started. He gave me a B&O engine (sorry I don't Remember the type of engine maybe SD-40 ?) some of his rolling stock, a couple of buildings,track & power pack enough for a 4 x 8 oval with a siding. That's probably why I model the B&O. I have been a member of the Naptown & White River Mrrc. here in Indianapolis, Ind. for 11+ yrs. I enjoy Operations, building structures & scenery. I recently started building wooden car kits. I'll Stop in later, I did have one question, do all posts have to be approved or is it a temporary thing for us newbies ?.

Well, I'm not much older than you, 51. I've been into model railroading since 1964 since the first time I can remember clapping eyes on a train. It was a long drag coal train being pulled by a team of 5 F7's through Williamsburg Virginia. It was love at first sight, like a moth to a flame. My first set (that same year) was a Marx O Scale freight train headed up by an A/B set of E7's. My second set the next year was a Lionel Santa Fe Double Diesel set. In 1966 I was presented with a 5x10 HO double mainline layout and I've been hopelessly hooked on HO since. I've had HO trains made by Athearn, Cox, Tyco, Bachmann, AHM, IHC, Mehano, Atlas (first experience with them was a bad one), Stewart, Kato, Olympia, Hobbytown, Lionel, Walthers, Life-Like, MDC, Pemco, Mantua, Front Range and possibly a few others. As for where I grew up, that might require another thread as I've been around the world twice. Not a great way to keep friends.

New Job, is there one? Last time I spoke with Dave was this last Friday, he told me what to ware. He all so said He would call me Friday and tell me where to him. Did not hear from him Friday, but I thought he might be busy and did not want to be a pest. called Saturday, got voice mail and left a message. Hum, never did call back? Called today, straight to voices mail. Cannot think of a reason he would be ducking my calls, but I tried my Track Phone. Name and number will not show on caller ID if by chances he is ducking me. Got voices mail again. I have never been in this kind of position before. I was told what to ware, but not when or where?
Went ahead and sat up some interviews for this coming week to be safe.

I too was stunned when I read Garry's email earlier this afternoon... If it's not too late, while the Cedar Crapids Industrial Branch has no passenger equipment, the Chicago Central and Pacific has a pair of cabooses assigned to the Cedar Crapids Turn, and the Chicago and North Western has one "way car" assigned to the Cedar Crapids Terminal. It would be an honor to add them to the special.

I received an email from Rob just now.
I'll quote one sentence: "I appreciate everyones e-mail more than I can say."
As for the rest, I'll just say Rob is extremely sad.
I do not know if Rob is able to reply to all emails, but he certainly is glad to receive them. I suggest emailing more than once in the days ahead even if he can not reply each time.
His sister is landing at Atlanta's airport right now, and she will be with him to help him through some of his grief.
I wonder if we should say something in the general forum. So far, I did not do so.
