Afternoon floks!

Just taking a lunch break for a few minutes.  Flo, I'll have the turkey club sandwich.... What?  Oh yes need to have that nice dill pickle and the potato chips with it...  and a Cherribundy Light on ice.  Thank you Ma'am.

Ulrich, in here you are just one of the guys...  (So is Sue BTW....Smile, Wink & Grin)  I figure Kalmbach is very lucky to have someone of your insight and character volunteer to be "on guard" in our forum!  Wouldn't be the same around here with you!

Got quite a bit done this morning.  Dusted the furniture in the living room, vacuumed the rug in THAT room as well.  Ran down to the Credit Union for some pictures of dead presidents, and stopped in a couple stores to get needed items.  Still have a lrage list of things THAT need to get done, so I will be on my way!

[edit]  Good thing I paid down my credit card yesterday.....  looks like lunch is on me.  Order up!

Later!

Sir Madog

I hope none of you feels affected by me wearing the moderator´s hat. To be frank, I´d rather chuck that task before giving up coming here.

Doesn't bug me at all. I'm the owner and admin of another forum and none of my active members mind me being there. Why should I mind you being here?

There's an email going around that has the subject line 'ACH Payment Cancelled'.

In it you will find:

The ACH transaction (ID:3),
recently initiated from your checking account (by you or any other person),

was canceled by the other financial institution.

Rejected transaction
Transaction ID: 8574210513218
Reason for rejection: See details in the attachment
Transaction Report: report_082011-68.pdf.exe (self-extracting archive, Adobe PDF)

DO NOT OPEN THE ATTACHMENT. IT CONTAINS A TROJAN VIRUS! DELETE IT IMMEDIATELY!

Maybe I need to set something straight:

Whenever I am in here, I am not wearing my moderator´s hat. I leave it on a hook outside the door. I also leave to the two other gentlemen to "police" this thread. The three of us know, though, that the folks in here are considerate and sensible people.

We are always on our BEST BEHAVIOR now that we have a moderator regularly perusing our musings here. None of us wishes to get into trouble so we "keep it in line" and are afraid to be OUt of line.

Coffee in a SUNNY & SOUTHERN mug, please.

***Jerry, neat idea on adding the old siding.

***Jeffrey, nice weathering job on the box car.

For stress relief, my wife joined me for an old time can shoot-em-up yesterday. I needed a day off from building fences. She didn't do half bad for having practiced in ages.

Tonight, I'm "determined" to get her (HO) flatbed truck painted. It has been sitting on the kitchen counter for weeks now.

Hope y'all are having a good day.

Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood Afternoon, bucket of ice water please 'n thank-you.

TODD: "Fair?" Now THAT's funny right there.... Glad you got a giggle out of the slogan for my pike. Maybe sometime I'll hire a guy to make a billboard with THAT on it.

I shouldn't malign the CNW too badly though. I mean, in all honesty, they ran switch engines in the North Yard on all three shifts, and switched the plant on all three. A line of blue QOCX boxcars would be pulled (full of boxes of cereal, I'm a-guessing) on 2nd, and on 3rd would be in "the drag" to Beverly Yard for a trip east or west. In other words, they were probably a bit more "efficient" than my version of Cedar cRapids will be...

LEE: Nope...no hoppers full of Crunch Berries, they ah...tend to grow 'em there. They're just fresher THAT way...Whistling

I like the idea of jars of stuff hauled over my RR. Let's see, a short list would be: corn, soybeans, wheat, oats, sugar, brownulated sugar, corn syrup, vegetable oil, agricultural minerals, cement, paper products, corrugated cardboard, scrap metal, edible and inedible beef tallow, and John Deere tractors (which pains me...I'm a Farmall-IH guy).

ULRICH: When CUDAKEN said he thought you might've been sent to Col. Klink's cooler, I had this vision of you getting nailed for shooting spit wads at the guy. Not sure why... As for your moderator duties, and I think I'm one of the guys you were speaking to... I meant my disclaimer of not invoking your wrath as a sign of respect for you, and for not wanting to do something to make you "earn your pay." I figure you've got enough other fires to put out throughout the Kalmbach property...I just didn't and don't want to do something to have you stompin' out fires here in the Diner too. Of course...if somebody is in  the "necessary room," I might slip some burning newspaper under the stall....Mischief

We gots week number two of the Iowa High School Football season tonight. I'll be at Iowa City West as they "entertain" Dubuque Hempstead. It should be around 90 at game time with high humidity and a chance of rain/storms. By the end of the nine-week regular season, I'll be in a parka with s**w flurries in the air.

Have a good day folks!

Afternoon All,

Went to Wally World earlier and did some grocery shopping. Came home and ballasted the Coaling facility, a freight siding, Diesel servicing siding and part of the Steam servicing siding. By that time it felt like the right side of my head was about ready to explode. I usually don't get many headaches that bad. I think it was the heat coming off the halogen overhead lights and the smell of the Iso Alcohol. I went downstairs took some ASA  and am feeling a lot better now.

MOH and I picked up everything for the back splash project which we are doing Sunday and Monday. I have my yearly department physical on Tuesday and this year I have to do a treadmill stress test. It's great getting older.

Jeff- Great looking car.

Ulrich- As far as I am concerned you are always welcome.Yes

Everyone take care of yourself.

Btw, the remains of Irene will be paying a visit to us by tomorrow evening. Irene has already reached the British Isles and is down to a regular fall wind.

No sir I certainly do not feel affected by the wearing of the hat. To me you are still just Ulrich , our friend !

LSWRR - I have chased and solved a lot of leaks over the years. If you can shoot me some details I may be able to help get rid of your white whale. If you want to send me a PM I will give you my personnnel e-mail and you can shoot me some pictures of sketches or the roof area I can probably give you some free advice on a way to fix the problem.

Jeff/LSWRR - Your post made me think of the old joke. "How do you eat a carp?" You take a pine board nail each end of the carp to the board,,scale it,slather on butter, bit of lemon juice, some seasoning. Then throw it in the oven to cook. When done take out the fish and pine board. Pull the carp off throw away the fish and eat the board ! DinnerWhistling

Todd - She right ! I have found that marriage is more like 20 80. Sigh . Just kidding : )

 Evening Folks

Flo, just a beer please, plenty off BBQ left from last night.

Well, did some running around today and picked up some meds. Seems K-Mart has canceled there $4.00 prescription plan! Wife caught it after I got home. She was told that everybody has done it. Well, Sue found another places that still has it, so so long K Mart.

Called a Salvage Yard today, Daytona is worth $275.00! I was thinking $100.00. Problem, I have not found the title? Guess Saturday I will rip the desk apart looking for it. State wants $125.00 for a pieces of paper? I will check the glove box, about the only places other than the desk it could be. Wife is freaking out! Someone could steal the car and have the title! Laugh As much as I like the Daytona, it is a true eye score.

Spent a hour trying to speed match my F7's. While I got them close, there is something wrong. Jeffery Brandon must be right about it being the decoder as far as the jumping. Jumps every time even if I don't change directions.

Todd With me cleaning out the desk, I am going to come across a lot of Mopar Magazines and such. Would you like them for the cost of shipping or gas to drop by?

Well, time to watch some NCIS!

Chloe, Are you still here?  That is a long shift.  I would like a RBF, please.

We have to seal the chimney this weekend.  It will be in the mid 80's so it should cure perfectly.

Question:  Hasn't there always been a moderator?

We have NCIS on Tuesday evenings.

der,  Your trees are looking great.

Later, Sue

Coffee refill and some chips with mild salsa, please.

***Ken, I couldn't get anyone to haul off my beloved old van for the same reason, couldn't find the darn title. Good luck with that.

I finally got the wife's (HO) flatbed truck painted. Later I'll try to dirty it up with some chalks.

Ken- Thought about cutting the car up and taking it in on a trailer? You get more for it.  Just get a few buddies together and some beer might work. Throw everything onto the trailer. Case of beer, and a tank of oxygen and acetylene, cheaper than a new title

Gotta go, have to correct my paper for the Hunger Games. I fail to see what all the hubbub is over the stinking book. Far from impressed

Evening all.... well finished weathering my 4-8-2 spectium steamer. Would have finished it earlier today but I wanted to do some weathering on the drive wheels and running gear so I removed the two screws that hold the motor and worm gear and weight and gently moved it aside. I then began weathering the running gear. Great got that done ok lets put the thing back together. Ok got that done....... what? whats this? where did this red wire come from? OH great its off of the motor! and it came off of the circuit board as well! Bang Head It took me an hour and a half to resolder it back on after I figuired out where it came off of the circuit board.

L&N.....Gone but not forgotten

Gonna have to do some work on the van in the morning. Something's fouled up in the ignition wiring. Start it up an dit runs like it should. If I cut it off and turn the key back to the accessory position real quick the engine stays running. I moved a jumper in the fuse box this morning while I was tracking down a short that turned out to be a wire pinched between the engine cover and the cowling.  So that could be it. It's the first thing I'll check in the morning. It didn't do this before the jumper was moved. I hope it's that easy.

Evenin' folks!

Ahhhhhhh, ooooooowwwwww.... It sure feels good to sit down.....  Janie a decaf and an Advil please.

Oh, my back hurts!  Think I have overdone a bit today.  More or less have finished cleaning house, set up as much of the outside stuff as I can, got the portable garage set up...... The Scoutmaster of my old troop has found some great ways to set up the portable garage so that it stays up.  We duct taped each of the pole joints, added extra tie downs on each corner using large (and I do mean large) pegs, then drove a foot and a half by 3/8" steel rod through a hole in pieces of plywood he made for each of the leg poles to sit in.  THAT baby ain't goin' nowhere!  (I sure hope!)  Of course they are predicting a chance of strong thunderstorms all night and most of the day tomorrow.  OK, Yep, I'm to blame.  I'm having a party outside at my house.........

Jeffrey I know what you mean about things going wrong with vehicles....  Why just today I noticed a flashing light on the dashboard of my Yaris....  I started to panic.... It said, "Maintenance required...."...  I grabbed the manual and looked it up to see what could be wrong!  Says it's time for an oil change....  Well (still full) I knew THAT!  I get it done in September anyway.  Hope you find and can fix the problem!

One thing I didn't get done today and I'm sure I won't get to before company comes is to run a few trains downstairs to make sure everything is w*rking well.  Therefore the derailments, stalls for no reason, and other gremlin activities will be rampant......Sigh

I Picked up the half sheet cake I ordered for desert when I did the final shopping today at Tops Market.  I had them print one of my photos from the layout on the top of the cake.  I decided I liked this one for it except for one spot:

So I opened up Photoshop and did a bit of correcting:

Came out nice on the cake.  I had the cake in my cart and several people started staring at it when I walked by.  Happened to be several people I knew in the store at the time.  Some didn't believe that was a photo of my model railroad.  The checkout girl asked where I got it.  i told it was a photo of my model railroad down stairs at my house.  Her eyes got very big and she said, "You made that?"  I just grinned.....  I told her it keeps me out of trouble now that I retired from teaching.......

Have few more little things to do before I turn in for the night.

Have a great one!

Good Morning Gang!

Happy B-Day Garry - Petra and I are sending a big Cake  your way!

No, Vinnie, this one´s not meant for you! You´ll have to ask Garry if you can have a slice of it later in the day.

I was so bone tired yesterday, that I did not sleep well. I guess my batteries are running low and need a proper recharge. I wish I could pack up and go on a little vacation, even if only for a few days. Gone fishin´ so to speak, but there is no chance for that.
