Good Afternoon Gang!
It was only a short day at the STALAG today - prep work for next week´s exam. I left early because I hardly slept last night. Got up at 3.45 am and could not go to sleep again. Now I am dead tired and will try to get a nap on the sofa.
I hope my sleeping issue will go away soon (have been hoping for that two years now), as I am pretty much worn out these days.
Galaxy - hope you´re staying high & dry again!
Ken - I am feeling for ya, buddy!
Have a good one!
Good Morning!! Coffee and some breakfast pizza please. Thanks. Boy, I wouldn’t have thought anybody missed that last round of website to browser compatibility threads. Guess not. Partly sunny, with a high near 70. It’s drizzling now. Maybe later.

Equinox…sounds reasonable. My sleep has been altered suddenly other than those three nights. Last night was an all nighter for me at least, so that’s back, but I wake up every 40 minutes to an hour. Go back to sleep, but 40 minutes to an hour later, I wake up. This has been going on for just shy of a week.
Lee- Yep, that’s what I’d do. Change them filters every month regardless what the package says. That makes more sense than what they claim. Especially if the material is more dense and it traps more stuff, it would only stand to reason it would clog up sooner. It did cross my mind at first, but I figured they knew more about it than I did.
My problem with the filters, I suppose, was the reason I got them. Or I should say Brenda got them. I am not always a monthly filter changer. Sometimes the month gets away me and then two months… then I realize I need to change the filter. I figured these would be the ticket. Wrong. Oh well, No allergies and we didn’t notice any change in dust accumulation so…
Ken- Nope, I have to w**k on Tuesday nights so no NCIS (the dogs). HOWEVER, thanks to CBS.com, I shall be enjoying the show in just a few minutes.
I don’t like watching movies and TV show on the computer. Don’t know why, I just don’t.
Yup, been there too. Had a 1967 Buick Widcat (don’t laugh. Some people did. I remember specifically a little red mustang all sweet and cocky. Was pretty embarrassed when a stock four door, basically Buick LeSabre buh-LOO him away.) with a 430. Books said it wasn’t a ’67. "430’s didn’t come out till ’68" they'd say. OK. You got me. It’s a ’68, now give me the part. Ahhh…I liked that car. Fender skirts and all. HAH! Got beat by grandma’s car with FENDER SKIRTS!!!
Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!
I wish they'd move the delete selection away from the edit selection. Just wanted to pop back in and say fender skirts got beat plenty of times too, more than won actually, but even they said it surprised them how quick it was considering the size. Still looked cool. Posi-trac and smoke rolling off both back tires on a boat like that. Those were the days.

Good morning, Chloe. I will have a coffee while I watch the burnouts.
Off to work,

Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.
Good morning. It's 74°. Today: Partly to mostly cloudy with a chance of thunderstorms. Hot. High 93°. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 40%.Nothing on the schedule today. I don't feel any better than I did yesterday except that I'm not so cold. I might do some cleaning up on the layout.
Mornin' everyone!
Zoe, I'll have a couple crullers and my usual dark roast coffee this morning.
Garry.... The inspection doesn't bother me one bit. Helps keep some death traps off the road! I've had a couple times where a real problem (brakes usually) got picked up and resolved long before it became dangerous during the yearly. What bothers me is that as of this morning you don't have to be able to see to renew your NYS Drivers License. You have have to say you can see, but nobody has to check to see THAT you can see....... They already go 8 years between renewals and we have quite a lot of the 80 - 90 year old crowd who shouldn't be driving speeding along at 15 or 20 miles an hour using the white line down the middle of the road to know they are straddling it........ I sincerely hope when I start driving that way, a friend or family member will take the keys away and keep me from behind the wheel. There have been several incidences of "Little Old Ladies" missing a stop sign and driving into someones living room across the street this summer..... (Some deaths involved too.) One a couple days ago drove her car into the dining room of a family restaurant in the Rochester area.
Lee, the only news i have seen about the Hojack Bridge is what has been in the Rochester news, and several emails from members of the museum. You probably know more than I.........
Sheesh.... Must still be half asleep... Done went and hit the post button accidentally. Duh! (Take my keyboard away please....)
Galaxy, hope you folks down in the Southern Tier Hills stay high and dry!
Have a great one!

Me again,
after a hearty nap, I started to work on my station module. Gosh, how tiny those N scale figures are! They kept flinging off my tweezers, making me get down on my knees and searching the floor. Got all of them back and now they are securely glued to the platforms. What an improvement!
I also worked on the little city scene on that module - here is a quick shot at it:
Still lots of details missing, like a fence, power poles and - lines and other, not yet identified thingies to make it look real nice.
Jeff - great picture of that gon!
Ray - my Washington State Driver´s License has expired on March 31st, 1975 - I guess a simple renewal won´t do in this case. Here in Germany, you don´t have to renew your driver´s license, it´s valid for life. Not really a good thing, as a lot of older folks should not sit behind the wheel any longer. My Mom still drives the car, but there is nothing I can do to stop her. One of my big worries!
Too early for supper, yet - Janie, how about a cinnamon roll and a mug of coffee, please.
Sue - I remember a Danish bakery in Poulsbo, WA, where they had the best cinnamon rolls in the world!
CUL!
.... TO LARRY of Holly, MI (ClinchValleySD40 .... Larry, I've enjoyed your photos and videos you have been posting in the forum. ... Please visit the diner again, and get to know people. .. I lived in MI before the move to KY.
Ulrich ... The housed look good!.. I spent a couple of years doing N scale, and I know what you mean about too small.
Galaxy ... You were talking about your FT's in the other thread. You said the steps on the ends can cause your B&O FT's to derail. Most RR's had the A and B units connected semi-perminently with draw bars. They did not need steps on the ends where connected with the draw bar. I suspect that was the case with B&O. So, it would be okay to remove those steps.
Ray ... You talked about inspections keeping unsafe vehicles off the highways........ Ah, shucks, Ray !..... I'm just breaking this truck in. I change the oil one quart at a time. .... See anything wrong with it?

Ulrich Great looking little buildings. I am get quite a collection of your hand work stored on the computer. You ever going to use any of the pine trees? I would have sent you more of the other ones if I knew you would like that much.
Old Work Front Shaun E-Mailed me so I called him to see what was going on. Hee Hee Hee, seems the store had fell flat on it faces after Labor Day. Labor Day weekend was killer, Dean (My replacement) had $18,000.00 in sales in 2 days. When I heard that from Shaun, I was sick to my stomach! My best weekend had only been $10,000.00 or so.
Today Shaun told me the store is projected to do $41,000.00, I was expecting to hear $60,000.00 after that weekend! While $41,000.00 is a good month, I will still have beaten that figure 4 out of the 8 months I was there! Made me fell a lot better about things, I was embarrassed.
Now that I am not embarrassed, time to call and raise some hell! They owe me $355.00 in commission and I want it now! I know, it sounds silly but because I thought the other guy was kicking my butt I did not want to call. So I am over that now, time to get my money!
Well, going to watch a movie, see you later.

Evening All,
Had my short shift at w**k today and I am already looking forward to my bed. We are getting some new people at work and I found out that one of the new EMT's will be my partner for 2 months starting Oct 30. I don't know any of his work history so I am curious about his skill level. I guess I will find out.
Garry- Love that picture of the goat.
Ken- I sure wouldn't be embarrassed about asking for your commission. You earned it and you made money for the company. If they don't want to pay I would go make a claim at the National Labor Board (US). Sorry I don't remember if you live in the US or Canada. But even if you live in Canada they must have something similar.
Ulrich- Good luck on your security exam and those are nice houses. Can't wait to see them in one of your modules.
Barry- Great looking Plymouth. Is it/ Was it yours?
Jeff- That's a very nice looking gondola.
Everybody have a good night.

Greetings from Binghamton, NY- where the men are men, the girls are pretty and the previous flood victims are nervous!!!
It DID stop raining for a period today, but it is back now.
There are still the *Flash Flood Watches* {means conditions are ripe for it happening} until now 8 PM Thursday.
So far there have been no reports on the news about any flooding, so that is a good sign. They don't really expect any river flooding, it will be small streams and creeks they are worried about.
But when rains come like they are agian, the flood victims {and others} get nervous.
No surprise, housing shortage here in the area!!! They {city/town/county leaders} are "begging" FEMA to bring in some Mobile Trailers for people to move into for 6-12-18 months to get their houses back in order. FEMA seems willing, but logistics is another matter, hence the "begging". FEMA has been little help to some. Those who received FEMA help in 2006 flooding can't get help this time around either!
FEMA and Gov't engineers seem to agree the current flood walls need to be updated/upgraded and taller. But many of the dikes and walls held, but water ran *around* the dikes as the dikes don't all connect! ANd where there are emergency walls to go up over roads, they weren't tall enough, or didn't get put up in time, or there was flooding waters working its wasy around the walls and dikes- flooding *both* sides of the walls. It also has to be realized that all the flooding waters cannot be diverted to wildlife rpeserves or back to rivers/creeks/streams and so it MUST be *decided* which side is going to get *"Saved"*.
Well, Hope you all have had a great day and will have great evening. Ours will be a soaked evening!
See you in the morning!

HO and N Scale.
After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.
Well, today I opened up the two Stewart F9's and ran a set of wires between them to tie the wheel pickups all together. No way they'll lose power going through turnouts. To permanently couple them I put a couple of horn hook couplers between them and lashed them together with strands of aluminum wire. No way those babies are coming uncoupled. That's about all I could manage today.
2.45 am and I am up already
Curt - I know it´s hard to tell from the picture, but the houses are already on the station module. They are on the left end - not much you can do on 6".
Ken - imagine a temple in a fir tree forest ...
Heading back to bed to catch more
Evenin Folks!
Janie, just a decaf for right now.
Larry.... Good to see you in the diner. Sit and chat a while, you'll find the folks in here are a great bunch.
Hey Garry, THAT pick up truck looks in better shape than half the stuff we used on the farm when I was a kid...... Only thing I can see missing is the windshield wipers, but since you ain't got no windshield, shouldn't be a problem! Why you even done gots a chauffeur..........
Curt, nice shots of the operating end of both the steamer and the diseasal........
Hope you get back to Ulrich!
Got the paperw*rk done for a layout that will be opening for our Fall Meet. The gentleman has done some very nice modeling. Only drawback is the ceiling in the basement room he is using is about 6' 1"..... Some of our 6'3" members will have to duck a lot to see it. Not much room for a lot of people either. He is modeling the LV here in Geneva and has some great kitbashes of some local buildings. Have to get over to the other guys house early next week and have him fill out and sign some paperwork for the meet as well. This guy has a little layout totaling only 18,000 sq. feet of model railroad. Several actual miles of track down there. he is thee LV modeler around here.
Got the truck inspected and the oil changed for the year..... Yeah, once a year for the oil change. OK, so I put about 800 miles a year on the old girl, but I like having her around when I need to haul something. The rest of the time I use the Yaris. Canned 6 more pints of beans, picked a bunch more from the vines (pole beans), and did several days of dirty dishes. THAT was my day here. Notice doing anything hobbywise was not on the list. THAT will be rectified tomorrow I hope!
Later!
Curt: It was ours ...until we sold it...
Now I bought another one..just so that we could have another one just like that one...
Green tea with mint, please.
***Garry, is that goat upset because the engine won't turn over or because there is no tree full of leaves growing up through the cab? Whatever the case, neat pic!
***Curt, is that your ghost twin seen in the second photo?
***Jeffrey, nice weathering job on that car.
Got a lot done today on the fence. Only six posts left to set and then we can start stringing wire.
Rob
GOOD MORNING!!!
Today is Thursday September 29th, 2011!!!
Good Morning All,
Time to fire up the furnace the Friday night low will be 41F.
Todd, I agree, everyone has different needs with furnace filters; my HVAC guy recommends the 3M red filters at a minimum. I switched to the 3M Purple filters and noticed a great reduction in dust, but then again I have those late 1940’s early 1950’s cold air returns that small farm animals could get sucked into.
Ray, thanks, do you have any of the emails you could share? Did you happen to get a letter in the mail concerning the Irondequoit Bay Outlet Bridge? I find it interesting that people talk about us but rarely to us…
Jeff, that gondola looks great!!!
Ulrich, nice street scene you have, is that a vegetable sidewalk sale?
Garry, I have to waste my time at the emissions check station, e-checks are mandatory on personal vehicles. Commercial vehicles are exempt. I have a diesel and all they do is check the computer for error codes…
Galaxy that sounds like a load of political bull if you can’t get help if you were helped in 2006? And you can’t flood wildlife? People worried the deer will walk around with muddy feet?

Good Morning!! I think I’ll have a piece of apple pie please. And coffee too of course. Thanks. Mostly sunny, with a high near 78. Not much happening here. Just this guy wants me to see if I can fix the brakes on this old ’56 Ford pickup behind his shed.Been sittin since who knows when. He says it runs great but just doesn’t stop. Took a look at it quickly yesterday and since the bed has no floor, it made it real easy to crack a brake line loose (believe it or not) and the pedal did ease down and brake fluid came out. I told him he may get lucky and it just be wheel cylinders, but I’d have to take the drums off and see the brakes themselves to see what else it may need. Personally, I think he should take the radiator cap off and get rid of everything else. Still nothing to report on the RR front.

OH! Keep your fingers crossed for me. Signed the paper work to sell Mom’s house yesterday. Yup, some say it’s sold. I say not until the check cashes, but the sold sign goes up. Closing is on or before Nov 7so I have to get the remaining stuff out of the sheds. Not a whole lot, just a few sticks of furniture that needs to go to a place where people in need can get stuff for free, and some stuff that frankly just needs to be thrown away. Hopefully Mr Murphy will be busy at harvest with the farmers and he will not have time stop by for a visit.
Lee - if I read the signs correctly, it´s Asahi Dry beer , although it looks more like Kombucha to me.
Good Afternoon Folks,
Again, a short day at the STALAG with not much happening. Good news is, I will have a job interview coming Tuesday. Hope that works out to be something reasonable
Thought I´d share a few more pics of the station module with you:
Still lacks quite a bit of detail, but that´ll have to wait until my financial situation improves!
Time to make plans for the next module. I am thinking of adding a depot where I can store the EMU´s.
Janie, just a cup of coffee for me, please, and hold the sugar!
Good morning, Chloe. Ulrich mentioned cinnamon rolls again. I had one for lunch yesterday, and I think I need another one with my coffee this morning, please. Luckily, I worked yesterday's cinnamon roll off climbing last night.
Ulrich, Thanks for sharing your station photos. I forgot what scale you model. What did you use for the fence at the station? Is it scratch built? We have a 6 ft section along the backdrop in our yard that needs a similar fence. The one that we were going to use was out of stock.
Today, I plan to start my packing for a ladies climbing trip on October 8-9. I might even mow the lawn before it starts raining again.
Later, Sue
Sue - it is N scale. That´s why some of the details appear to be a little coarse. It is also quite difficult to photograph properly, unless you have a pro´s equipment(which i, of course, don´t have). Should I ever grow up and get rich, I´ll change to O scale
Good morning. It's 71° and sunny. The high will be 96° and it will be partly cloudy.Yesterday I opened up two Stewart F9's and ran wires from pne to the other to join the pickups of both locos together. I also lashed the couplers together. Today I'll be working on a pair of Athearn F3's. Their chassis have been wired together for years. I'll be wiring a third F unit to them, in this case a Proto 1000 chassis with an Athearn Hi-F F7B shell. The couplers of the second and third units will also be lashed together. The heavy Proto 1000 chassis wiil add a lot of pulling power to the two much lighter Athearn's. A fourth unit, an F7B dummy will be along for the ride. The F7B's will be bringing dynamic brakes to the party. Neither of the F3's have dynamics.
Morning all!
Flo, glass of lemonade please.
Feel pretty good so far today, hope I stay this way.
Got a pleasant surprise in conversation's this morning! A site member named Juniatha (female) sent me a link to a 1971 440-6 Cuda racing at Nurburgring Germany. The Cuda must have had a lot of work done to it to handle the way it does!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_sf2PD_ngxA
At one point they have a radar gun on it showing it doing 175 MPH. Sound had to be dubbed, never heard a Big Block Mopar sound that way, but then again I never heard one doing 175 MPH on a road course.
Speaking of Surprises Shaddy the Wolfhound left me one in the kitchen! Think they should use what I cleaned up in TV Paper Towel Commercials.
Husband. Honey, I need a roll of paper towels!
Wife. I bought brand X, the quicker picker upper, you will only need one sheet!
Husband. Don't think so, have a look.
Wife. Here take this roll and I will go get another one!
Now that I have ruined all your appetites, see you later!
Ken - you did notice that this was not a real video? Amazing, what computer graphics can do nowadays
Oooooooooooooo! More Cinnamon Rolls..... Zoe I'll have 2 of those and a cup of Dark Roast Coffee, please. What? Oh the blood sugar was fine this morning.... I'll be careful the rest of the day....
Cool and damp here in the Finger lakes this morning. Currently 62°F with a high of 65° and some thunderboomers this afternoon. Getting pretty close to the end of gardening season I guess. We haven't had a frost yet (usually get the first killing frost around Sept. 15) but the winter squash vines are calling it quit. Looks Like I will get a good crop of winter squash. I will be bringing them before the first frost sometime in the next week. Need to start harvesting the carrots and will likely can them for the winter. Beans are still in blossom and will produce good beans as long as the bees can come over and do their thing and we don't get a frost. Actually have a few very small summer squash on what is left of the plants. Never did get a good crop this year. I think nobody did as I have not seen many for sale at farm stands.
Galaxy, I do hope you folks start getting some dry weather down there.
Lee, I'll look through my emails to see what I have. Most likely I have deleted them already. most were just FYI's and links to news articles about the removal of the bridge (eyesore) (historic structure) (Depending on point of view....) I will see about finding some links to the news articles that ran in the local Rochester papers and YNN the Time Warner Local Cable News.
Todd, THAT truck sounds a lot like the old 1936 rust bucket that sat out back of our barn for about 20 years before my cousin and I brought it back to life (more or less - mostly less). I do wish I had the old thing today. Would make a great lawn ornament.....
Ulrich, love the new module! Some fine w*rk you have done there!!! Good luck with the job interview! looking over you....
Best be moving on to some other things for the day.
Sir Madog Ken - you did notice that this was not a real video? Amazing, what computer graphics can do nowadays
No I didn't. I had my eyes glued to the car and track, that part look awfully real. But after you brought it up and I watched it again I looked at the background. That was the give away.
All so answers why the car sounds odd. I was all so wondering how such a stock looking Cuda could run and handle that way!
Boy, I like to know what that game is!
I finished wiring a Proto 1000 F unit to a couple of Athearn F units to make a permanently connected consist of three powered locos. All three were pre-programmed separately and speed matched then all three were set to the same address. Wires run from unit to unit to tie all the pickups together. This eliminates any stalling through turnouts. It also makes the three locos pick up power like one big twelve axle loco.
