YOU KNOW WHAT REALLY BURNS MY BUTT!!…A flame about this high. (motions about hip height)

Good Morning!! Coffee and some Breakfast casserole please. Thanks.

Happy Birthday Barry!! Cake

Mornin Bill.

Today, I must do some housew**k. I could play with my trainset I suppose, or I could just resign myself to wait until the weather changes and I can do nothing but stay warm. That may end up being the plan.

In addition to Barry, it is also Brenda’s Birthday and she, of course, has to w**k soooo..., I will let her. Hey, it’s her day. Well…, and Barry’s. And..., anybody else who was born on this day. Anywho, I will have to figure out what to do for our dining needs because the elevator will not close until at least 6:30 or maybe later. So, who knows. Guess it’s up to me. Now THAT’s an invitation for disaster.

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

Good morning. It's 59 and mostly clear. The high will be 87 and it will be mostly sunny.

Yesterday I finished cleaning the gears and bearings on the Hobbytown drive and installed a headlight in the top of the cab. There's no room in there for the crew as it is unless they lay on skate boards on top of that enormous flywheel. I may see if I can change out the motor with something more DCC friendly.  I have a modern Athearn motor in mind.

I also got the decoder install done on the Model Power GP9. I had to wrap the pickup wires up good as the drive shaft couplings had a penchant for grabbing them. There's not much room inside the shell even with the small size of the Z Scale decoder. I initially thought of putting the decoder on top of the rear gear tower but the shaft coupling kept grabbing at the wires no matter what I did. I ended up taping the wires down on top of the motor and having the decoder hanging in free space above the rear shaft coupling. I have both of the FX wires (white and yellow) connected to the negative lead of the light so it's on whether the loco is going forward or backward. The blue wire is of course on the positive lead. I thought about putting in a light at the rear but those vicious shaft couplings get in the way again. They manage to grab anything that's near them.

Morning all from cloudy and wet Lancaster county.

Ken, I feel your pain when it comes to yard-work, I'll be making time to do a bit of that today, not to mention *gag* working on my cats flea problem later on.

Just got a second hand set of N&W hoppers in the mail and I do love saving oh so much when they lack the original boxes. Plus they were already weathered and most have Kadee couplers and some have Kadee trucks! It had been two kits and two assembled Accurail USRA N&W hoppers plus three Stewart and one Athearn, many are weathered and look fine to me! All for $53 too.

 "As I slowly sneak in"......

Well its been a looong time, since I've been in The Diner.

How has everybody been????   I'm doing pretty good.  I'm currently working at Sears, but I just got hired on at Eaton (they make truck transmission).   So I guess I will work two jobs for now.

I'm still weathering, but not like I use to.   I do have the one hopper on WPF that a few guys commented on (and thanks for the comments).

I will stop back in more, and try to get caught up.

Here's an item for all you dog lovers  and / or motorcycle fans.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdj67XknFrM&feature=related

We have gained a cat since I was last in. Not quite a rescue - the owner is moving back to Witicha soon, ( and wintering in sunnier climes!)  So, Jet, an all black one year old mother of 3 (the kittens have been found homes already)  who we tentatively called "What?" and last night settled on Penny, is trying to overcome the outrage of a move against  her will. Spends most of the day under our bed. Comes out to eat and so on - is litter box trained Thumbs Up Penny,  from Penny Black   the world's first self-adhesive postage stamp, has found the trees  in containers on the floor of the train room to hold an enduring fascination. So I've had to move them up!

Maybe some mrr time today.....

Cheers, John.

Afternoon all, as I check in from w**k.  Its kinda died around here as it was pretty busy earlier today.  glad to see the break for the moment.  Football games are starting, so I imagine that things are going to start slowing for the day.

Robby: Glad to see you back in, good luck on the twin jobs sir.  Hope that you can make more trips in and be able to stay caught up.

Sam: Equally glad to see you sir, good to hear that you might be going to a full time deal with the 1:1.  We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

Barry: HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIR!  Hope that you are enjoying it even though you're on-call.

Well, guess I'll see what else is happening around here, then probably go back to w**k

Afternoon everyone!

Flo, just a decaf to hold me until supper time.  Thanks!

Happy Birthday BarryTodd tell Brenda Happy Birthday as well from me.  And.....  A most unequivocally Happy Birthday a day early to Galaxy as well.  So.....  Brenda is 29 this year???

Robby, good to see you sir!  Loved the weathering in the WPF thread!

Took the woodsplitter out to the museum this morning.  The one thing I didn't take with me was a full gas can....  1.) I think the one I have is almost empty (or is empty) and I didn't have a chance to fill it up yesterday.   2.) The tank on the splitter is empty.   Guess what they were completely out of at the museum?  You get 3 chances and the first 2 don't count.   I didn't get to split any wood today.  At least it is out there and well chained to a huge tree next to the wood pile and padlocked so it should stay there until I come to get it.

They have a Boy Scout Troop out there last night and today doing a service project at the museum.  They got to sleep in the cabooses last night and seem to be having a great time doing some cleanup along the line.

I hope to spend some time this evening w*rking on scenery at the quarry tonight.

Catch you all later!

 Evening Dinners

Flo, OK, OK you know I want a Beer.

John Thanks for posting the link about Dog. It put a smile on my faces. Remind me of Muff, my first American Eskimo, she went ever where with me including cars shows. She would sit / stand behind the steering wheel with her paws on the steering wheel like she was driving.

While I had Muff I all so had a German Shepherd named Madison name after the street I picked her up from. She had been hit by a car and left on the side of the road. Anyway, Madison was not real good about coming when I called her when I let them run in the field next to my old house. So I started leaving a shot led on Madison when I let her and Muff run. When I was ready to go in, I would yell to Muff Get Her! Muff would run her down, grab the short led and bring Madison into the house!

Rob P Hope to see you show up more her in the dinner, we miss hearing from you!

I will drop by later, I have Pizza waiting on me. Dinner

Evening All,

Got back a little bit ago from the skunk show. The 3 we showed all got ribbons with 2 getting best in class (age and or color type) so we are pretty happy. Another plus was it was only a 20 minute drive from home instead of having to get a hotel like previous years.

I am still going to try to do some ballasting tomorrow but may not be successful. Last night I ordered the Walther's Roundhouse and 3 additional stalls. The stalls are set at the same 10 degree spacing as the CMR TT. I will start building it after I am done with ballasting.

Galaxy- Hope you have a great birthday tomorrowCakeHappy B-Day.

Hope everyone has a good night.

Whistling

Hi Gang,

After a leisurely drive and some sightseeing along the way, we arrived in Springfield Mo. last evening and found all well here with our Son, and Grad school going well but very busy.

Slept in this am, had a great brunch my wife whipped up for by Son and I.  Then out and about.

With the Micro-mark and Walther's order waiting for me I didn't intend to buy anything else while down here,,, BUT,,, I ventured into the LHS only to find a large box of Scenic Express Super Trees beckoning to me to take them home with me.  So, who am I to second guess some Super Trees ?? They are now in the back of the HHR. and waiting for planting on the LM&E. Then we went over to The Main store of Bass Pro Shops in America.   MAN, it is bigger than some of our complete Malls back home.  What a great experience. Of course I has to pick up a new cap and a couple of T-Shirts.

I want to buy a round for the whole Crew here tonight to help celebrate the BIRTHDAYS of BARRY and GALAXY.  So RBFs all around, make that doubles..BeerBeer    Yeah

We have some work to do here at my Son's home early next week and then we hope to get down to Branson for a couple of days.  We'll take in some shows that interest us and have an all round good time.

Will check back later, hope you all are well and health is on an upswing for all.

Keep smiling ya all,   it looks good an ya.

Evening all.  Just stopping in for the night before I go and do a little laundry, then bed.  Got a pretty busy day tomorrow as we've got church, then a bridal shower for our pastor's daughter, followed by a church meeting that afternoon.  Amy wants to squeeze in swimming between the shower and meeting, so we'll see.  If I don't do it tomorrow, I think I'm going to try to weather my Dash-8 tomorrow, see if I can do a "little better" job on making it just look dirty, not as dark and oily as my SD40-2, so we'll see also.  Also trying to convince Amy to make some peanut butter cookies....hope that it'll work out too!

Well, guess I will head and do my laundry stuff.

Good Morning Gang,

I had a few quite miserable days, but I now slowly start to get and feel better. I again had to bury a couple of dreams, which proved to be a little too much for me to bear. Just a couple of more scars on my little soul.

I missed a few birthdays, so here is a big Happy B-Day to all who I missed (Barry, Galaxy)

Good to see that Robby P. and Sam are back to the Diner - I hope you folks show up a little more frequently now. Been missing you!

Nothing new on the MRRing front these days. My order of Japanese houses has not yet shown up, meaning that they are out of stock and won´t arrive for at least another 2 months. My prize for making 1st place in the JNS forum summer project party will be shipped in the next days, guess, what it is! Two boxes of typical Japanese houses, that´s 12 little, old fashioned Japanese buildings! That should cover the next two modules. I only need to get a temple building, the one I´d like to have is a little too dear in terms of $$ for the remaining budget.

Have a good time & blessings!

BowGood Morning!! Two eggs over easy with bacon and hash browns please. Oh and coffee too thanks.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms after 9am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 65. Locally they give it a 20% chance. Mainly east of us.

Happy Birthday Galaxy!

Hey Robby! Glad to see you back. I did see your WPF post. You haven’t lost your touch. Yes

Ray- Brenda has been happily 29 now officially for 20 years! Laugh

Took Brenda to Applebees last night. Terrible. My food was not very good. It was not the restaurants fault, I just did not like the recipe. Bland, tasteless. Should have known never ored Cajun anything unless you're in Jeff's neck-o-the woods. Never tasted Gumbo like this. First thought was runny refried beans when I saw it. Tasted like canned meatless chili over rice and the Andoullie sausage was chopped so fine... well, the couple pieces I could actually taste tasted more like Polish sausage to me. Steak was actually pretty good if they left that soup stuff off it. Brenda’s was cold. I don’t mean nit picky not blazing  hot cold, I mean it was room temp cold. We had to wait a long time, way longer than we should considering there were two tables that sat after we did, one after we ordered, got their food and had left before we got ours. They were busy so we didn’t complain about the wait, but her food actually felt like it had sat on the counter for about a half hour. And not under a heat lamp either. Nor was it appetizing to look at. The waitress brought a manager (we did not ak to see a manager, Brenda just told her it was cold and she said she'd be back with a Manager. Insisting, especially since we had been there so long in the first place) and he apologized, they made her another in about 6 minutes, he brought it out, it looked appetizing (obviously so. The other looked as it it had been on the floor. So it wasn’t just reheated in the micro) and it was hot. We thanked him and ate away. The waitress, brought our bill and the manager comped our meals. Just charged us for the appetizer, which was good, and our drinks. I told her we didn’t expect to not pay because we received a meal and ate it. Especially mine, I had no complaint about it. Well except for the taste, but that’s me not the restaurant. Can’t expect to not pay for something just because I don’t like the recipe. Just won’t order it again. Anyway, they insisted, so, cheap date. I tipped on the entire cost the meal would have been of course, because unless she dropped mine back there and they had to make another, mine was hot, and hers was cold but, on a warm plate. Figure that one out. Anyway, she was young (aren’t they all any more) and her name was Ruth. Good Biblical name. Not too common amongst young folks these days. So I gave her the benefit of the doubt. She can’t control what happens in the kitchen, she just hears about it and suffers gratuity wise. Of course they also benefit if the kitchen did extremely well too. All part of the job I suppose.

Not much planned for today except to cough. A lot.  Maybe I should try that Mucinex stuff. At least my sinuses are not swollen. Running like a faucet without my drugs (tried to do without yesterday so I suffer more today for it) but my sinuses are clear. Got THAT going for me. I do need to buzz our yard down. We’ll see. Maybe I’ll….nah, the day is too young to know what I’ll get into. Might just nap. Stop in at the 'Bay first I suppose.

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

Evening folks, been doing a little bit of work on the layout and a lot of cleaning of my layout area.

I'm 90% sold on taking the plunge into the realms of DCC. The NCE powercab is probably going to be my choice.

Currently I only have about 10 locomotives to convert, with most of them going to be easy it appears as they are new kato releases.

I have two proto N GP38-2s and two older Atlas Dash 8's which may prove a bit more difficult.

This thinking has arisen because i've just wired my newly expanded 4 track yard up and of course with a roundy round layout there is continuous supply to all tracks, and I really don't want to go to the effort of wiring it in blocks just to convert to DCC soon anyway.

Better go to bed, w*rk tomorrow.

Good morning. It's 70° (21c) and cloudy. The high should be 90° (32c) and it should be partly cloudy.

Not much planned for today. I have to adjust some CV's on the H24-66 as it still displays a tendency to break the railroad land speed record. Entering a lower number for CV 5 should tame the top speed. CV 5 is currently at 77. This thing must have a hot rod motor in it. On the default settings it almost tries to burn the wheels off on it's way to warp two. My curves and track work don't allow for that kind of speed. The crew wouldn't be able to hold onto their coffee cups. It's also time to start work on the patching of the Soo GP9m shell. After it's patched I'll dirty it up a bit.

 Good morning.

Not to much planned today.    Church this morning, and watch some football later.  Maybe try to get by the gym later.

I start the new job tomorrow.   Well the training part, and then move to 2nd shift next week.   I'm going to be working in the shipping department.   Eaton makes transmissions for big rigs.    So hopefully this job works out for me.  I've had Sears since May, but they are only giving me 10 hours a week.   I can't pay bills on 10 a week!!

I will pop back in later, and have a good morning.

Good morning.

Ulrich ... You sound sad. I'm sorry you had a difficult few days. Perhaps, some of the birthday celbrations here will brighten your mood. We're always here for you.Take care.

Galaxy.... Happy Birthday! I hope the celebration is a welcome relief from the flood miseries.

Todd .... Please tell Brenda "Happy Birthday". Wish we could have been with you at Applebee's to sing "Happy Birthday"

Barry ... I mentione your b'day already, but I hope it was a good one.

Bama ... Your SD-40-2 looks very good. Nice weathing job.

Jeff ... The GP30 has that "hard working" look. Is that the one that was once a GN engine.

Bill T .... It's always good to see the depot pictures.

Robby ... Glad you could visit in the diner. Two jobs will keep you busy.

Curt ... A skunk show? I've never been to one.

James Down-under  ..... There are some DCC experts here in the diner, and the forum has a section pertaining to it that is worthwhile. DCC adds a new dimension to the hobby making it much better.

Have a nice day, everybody....
