Strong coffee in a UNION PACIFIC mug, please.
Have a good day all.
Rob
Afternoon everyone. Sorry I didn't make it in yesterday, but the entire day slipped away from me.
Not too much going on around here. I have stuff to do, but have yet to start it...
Ulrich, sorry to hear about your friend. It is always terrible to hear of people dying at such a young age.
Some of you may remember last year when the librarian from my school was killed, and yesterday was the one year anniversary. I haven't heard any recent developments in her husband's case. It's amazing how quickly and easily some things can just fade away...
Over in the Land of Trains, I placed a Walthers order last night. A small ($50) order, just some trees, a lumber stack (to make the lumberyard seem less empty), and a decoder (so that I can finally operate my Genset again). I wouldn't have placed the order because I am literally broke (I have like ten dollars left... not very financially sound, but at least I don't have any bills to pay), but I got a special birthday discount from Walthers, which was even good on sale items. It only saved me about $4.50, but every little bit counts. It's currently processing, but I'm hoping to have it before I go down the shore on Friday.
Back to reality...On Wednesday, I will be visiting Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA with the fam. We'll spend the second half of the day exploring the area, and I want to squeeze in some railfanning along Norfolk Southern's Lehigh Line. I found this yard a few miles from the college that I'd like to check out, and any other cool places we might find. And then we're spending Thursday at Dorney Park in nearby Allentown. I haven't been there since the summer after fifth grade, which is now six years ago. How time flies...
And then I'll be going down the shore for the summer on Friday. I have to call my boss and let him know that I'll be down.... Sorry, just talking to myself...
Well, I better get out of here and get moving on the day's tasks. Catch you guys later!

Good Morning, Jeff, as the club members decide to dispose of things I’ll keep you in mind. I’m using the JTT foliage branches for fore ground trees now. $9 for 100 saplings. Alone they are not that impressive, but in small groves they look really good. If you go to the JTT web site search for Foliage Branches.
Ulrich, sounds like an easy fix.
Stan, another great picture

"I am not trying to turn you into a convert..." Yeah ULRICH, I know... Thankfully (???) I've got too much invested in HO (been picking up stuff since '84, '85...) to go and dump it all and make the switch. Plus... the itty-bitty stuff in HO is driving me nuts enough. Seems to me, EVERYTHING in N-sane scale is "itty-bitty." THAT wouldn't w**k so well...
But ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh what a trackplan I had forming in my brain: a single track mainline around Hamburg (which has been in the national news the past two weeks due to Missouri River flooding) and Shenandoah (Iowa, of course). Either late 60s CB&Q and Wabash (passing through Shenandoah enroute to Council Bluffs-Omaha), or 1980s BN. By going around the walls and folding peninsulas into the room, I'd have a nice long run and a meandering branchline through the Nishnabotna River valley hills and curves.
*sigh*
Back to reality...I'm rebuilding a CNW GP15-1 first built back in '03 or '04 and in need of upgrading to a higher standard.
My name is Chris, and I'm an HO modeler...
RAY: Those are some really good pics from your museum! I think you guys have the Boone and Scenic Valley beat hands down!

Chris - I am not trying to turn you into a convert, but N scale does offer a lot in term of space utilization (and ease of construction). I am happier with that modular design than I expected to, but deep down in my heart I´ll remain a "big scale" model railroader

TODD: Are you trying to kill me??? I was enjoying your description of good 'old fashioned TV shows...and a portion of my lunch decided to lodge in my airway! Laughing hysterically while eating...never a good idea!
I feel much better now...Rerun still looks a little concerned. He was flipping through my old First Responder textbook (the only EMS text I hung on to)...I think he was thinking he'd have to do a little Heimlich Maneuver on me.
Well (clear full from this morning's storms), I had another business feature this morning, Reggie's Weenie's in downtown Solon, Iowa. Thanks to JERRY, when the propieter, proprierter, the owner, told the crew in back he wanted a "Spartan, take it through the garden" I knew what he meant. The Spartan is a 1/3 lb. Vienna Beef hot dog named in honor of the highly successful local high school sports teams.
ULRICH: Sorry to hear about your friend, sounds like he was doing everything "right." I guess THAT just shows how uncertain everyday can be. I'm still toying around with an idea in my head utilizing your module design, some 2x4 post/legs, and a whole new excursion into N-sane scale. BUT, trying to put some grab irons on a Walthers hopper is quickly dashing THAT thought!
I'm gonna grab a seat at the RC and see what trouble I can get into today...
Slag dump is almost done. Then I will have a picture. All I need now is an excavator of some sort. Does anyone have a picture of one they have on their layout?
Afternoon folks!
Janie, just a glass of regular Iced Tea for me right now.... Sugar? No thanks, I brought my own Sweet Leaf for it.
Looks like Jeffrey is busy right now, and Ulrich is waiting for his box of goodies....
I have proof of my whereabouts yesterday..... If any of you are interested, here are some photos w/ explanations from Railroad Day at the Museums: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rgvrrm/sets/72157627002232880/detail/ Yep the old guy on the deck of the Erie Caboose is yours truly. The conductor wanted me there for the first few runs to set the hand brake in case we had a coupler problem like we did last year..... I like riding out there anyway.

We'll get there sooner or later!
Lee: I got your box today. Thanks. The trees are especially appreciated and I'll have to find a bottle for all that gravel. Looks like I'll be busy for a while changing out couplers.
Ulrich - sorry to hear about your friend. My mother passed summer of 03 and within two years there 8 people in my father's neighbor {the one I grew up in} had also passed, My mother's sister told my father to "move out of there if people are dropping like flies". Will put up an extra prayer candle.
RE agent just sent a house, but I don't htink we are interested in it too small a yard and too close to all the businesses. Close is fine, but not in your backyard close. She is supposed to check into two houses near us that are a tad out of price range but one wants ANY offers to entertain, so maybe hope?. She is supposed to investigate.
Day to catch up on what I didn't get done yesterday, but had to first catch up on sleep from beign awake last night, that how I beat wetidlerjr at the first GOOD MORNING.

Sir Madog Mail box update: The German Customs Authorities send me a letter, claiming that they cannot process the shipment due to a missing information on the value of the shipment. I told them by phone and email, that this shipment is a gift and its value does not exceed the 45 Euro limit for gifts I hope Ken did not leave any of the price stickers on . The package will now be cleared and forwarded to my place.

Stan, you have excellent tastes in Crummies....! The Erie was the RR serving Industry, NY way back when. The main line is still being used by the old Industry Erie Station. Noe owned and operated by the LA&L. Beautiful painting, BTW!
Ulrich, at least they didn't say, sent back to the States because nobody was home to take possetion of the shipment..... I've had THAT happen a few times with Fed-Ex!!! Sorry to hear about your friend.
I have an appt. with the Nurse Practitioner late this afternoon... I shall see what will happen next!?!
Best get myself moving.... Catch you all later!
Stan - congratulation on your outstanding work! I sure would like to have one of your great pictures in my train room! When times improve ...
Barry - thank you for your kind words. Dieter was a well-trained, semi-professional cyclist, who never showed a sign of any heart problems. It must have been a real shock to his GF and his kids.
Jeff - i used IE 9 by mistake, but am now back to Firefox, which never gave me a problem.

Morning All,
At w**k today. Supposed to be 98 F today with humidity putting it in the stupid hot zone. We actually have our house back again. Yahooooo. Did I mention that I am happy about this. My OCD really likes the less clutter in the house. MOH and I talked about moving her sewing room back in the bedroom it was in before our guests arrived. This will mean I have the entire loft for my layout.. I was looking at Lee's layout pictures of his TT and Roundhouse area last night. After I complete my current layout that will be my future addition.
Stan- Great Painting and really nice modeling scene.
Everybody take care.

Good morning all! It looks to be another beautiful day here in the southern tier. I had plenty of time to complete the K4 painting. Here's how it looks:
Howmus, That Erie Dunmore Hack is beautiful! Definitely my favorite Erie caboose. I built a pair of the JJL Models resin kits for the layout. Here's a shot of one of them with some nice Erie steam on the layout:
Flo, Eggs over easy and toast and a coffee for me, please.
Have a great day everyone!
Good Morning!! Coffee please and a breakfast sandwich with bacon thank you. A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 89, and still thinking of a name for my little world. ( no that's not two forecasts. Copy and pasted from NOAA site. Well, OK, you got me. Everything up through 89.)

Would have been in earlier, not Galaxy earlier, but earlier and therefore got a jump on my day. However, for some reason I clicked on a thread I have been ignoring for a while because, well, nothing really got me into MRR other than receiving a trainset for Christmas when I was a kid. And then when the neighbor down the road gave me some MRRing magazines they were gonna throw away. THAT really got me going. Prompted my first 4X8, which for those of you new guys, actually survived until just a few years ago. A few months after frequenting in here actually. Then I had to have bigger and better! This place is bad for that. Anyway, ended up watching Casey Jones. Never saw it before. Funny how the good guys in those 50’s shows are all smiles and…..perfect. (star comes in smiling) “That sure is a pickle you’re in there Bob, my dear friend of 7 1/2 minutes. Come stay at my house, eat my food, pet my dog and stay at home alone and wash the dishes with my wife while I leave for work. Let me talk to the company and they’ll take my word over the courts and all the people I tell will believe me over everything they’ve been told in the past and all will be just fine starting, well, right now! Sure will be sad to see you get on with your life. The wife sure got alot done with your help. heh, heh, I couldn't help notice her hair was kinda messed up every night when I got home and boy has she been tired” (chuckle) I love them old shows.
Looks like rain so…..don’t know what I’ll be doing after the bookwork for the Church gets done. I still need to sharpen the blades on the tractor. That can be done. And I suppose I can get the deck up here to change them out even if it does rain. If it doesn’t, I’ll be mowing.
My hope is that I get some time to play with my trains today. If I do, it probably will include the same as in Lou-zee-anner. Just about 12 degrees cooler outside. Of course inside, bout the same as the choo choo train is downstairs. Don't know. No thermometer down there. I sure feels cold though.
Gettin harder to see the layout. Best get it before there isn’t enough room in the house to contain what is laying on the layout.
Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

It worked!
Happy again!
Zoe, it is past lunchtime, but I could use some solid food. How about a steak sandwich and a RBF, please?
This year is the year of departures. I just received the word that a friend of mine died of a heart attck two days ago. After an ugly divorce, he was just starting a new life. Dieter turned only 52.
Lee - actually, I did nor use much water in creating the scenery. The base is foam, painted with acrylic paint. Ground cover was added on a layer of white glue, "misted" with 70% isopropyl alcohol. Upon looking at the module, I found out, that the base board is actually not sagging, just one leg bent outward a little. I guess I can fix that with an additional brace.
Have a good one!
jeffrey-wimberly First I have to clear away the items that are cluttering it up.

LOL I know. It is the same on my layout, but steadily getting better.
Good morning. It's 77° and sunny. The high will be 101° and partly cloudy.Nothing planned for outside today. It's too darned hot. I may get around to working on the east side of the layout today. It has yet to have the first tree put on it. First I have to clear away the items that are cluttering it up.
Good Morning, Rob, did you sew a patch to the screens?
Ulrich, yes that is a problem when adding water based scenery to a layout. This layout I built I used subflooring for the base; it’s made to handle water and resists warping. In her later days my Aunt would forget who I was, even if I was fixing a drain or something for her and I would have to remind her who I was 2-3 times while I was there. She remembered everything that happened in the 1950’s but current people and events she couldn’t remember.
Saturday I received a panicked phone call from a friend that he couldn’t find JTT foliage branches and he was worried they stopped making them. So Sunday I went to the LHS and found them, I also found them in the Walther’s catalog and the JTT web site. Catastrophe adverted…
I spent $955.85 for 4 new tires for my truck and that was with the military discount. I think I bought the last set in 2007 and paid $500 for them.
My mother is hording incandescent light bulbs. She has about a dozen milk crates in her living room with 100w bulbs and she is starting on the 60w bulbs. She will have a 40 year supply by the time she is done.
Good Morning! I'll have the Irish breakfast please.
Cloudy outside right now.
Have a good day!
