***Jeffrey, neat progress pics. I like the way the new layout is looking.
***Ray, I know you would. Thanks for the kind thoughts.
Put out 3 hay bales and got the sprayer ready for weed control. However, there are some seriously large chunks of tree in the way and a smashed gate to remove before I can drive out into the front pasture with the sprayer. First priority remains working on the shed roof, to keep the wife less depressed. Just wish it wasn't up around 90 degrees outside. Whew!

Did I say I was making abutments? I meant planting trees. Sounds the same I see how you misunderstood. (Whew! That was close. I forgot what Lee did for a living)
Well G, between leveling and lowering the "hole" and filling to raise and lowering said "hole" countless times to get the right height, four months may not be all that accurate. The way things go for me, let's just say some where between the first and last try. Which could span 15 minutes to 4.....ever.
Back with the shed door. Now, do I want to do it today? Or put it off and pack it around in the back of my truck until I need to haul something else. Decisions, decisions.

Todd I presume you have a proper Coast Guard Bridge Permit for that bridge abutment you’re working on?!?!?
I'm sure he consulted the Army COrp of Engineers first on teh best way to build that awkward second abutment, too ?
He'll spend four months leveling if he cuts into the foam? Boy, he'd better have some engineers and permits handy, a derailment could cost him!

Hello guys, i messed up my laptop?? The wife got me up and running again, I have been getting alot done around our house, The weather is wet and cool, I am starting to wonder if spring will ever come? We may have some flooding around the state if it warms up to fast. (glad i live on a hill.) I saw a neat looking loco/engine looking thing the other day while driving across Wyoming. I was wondering if any of you railfans had a guess at what i was looking at? It looked kind of like a brand new caboose and it was between two UP locos, It was either brand new or freshly painted? Looked like some kind of power unit to me? I see alot of trains up there but I have never seen one of these. Any ideas?
Thanks, Thayne.
Morning again
After 2 cups of coffee I have some ZIP in my git-a-long. COunted out bottles for return.I have coupons that give me a 6 cent return on a 5 cent returnable and a card to get stamped once daily that when full will give us 7cents per bottle/can we bring. SO I count out 175 bottles { a minimum is needed to cash in the 6cent coupon} and have a few extra glass bottles to take today and get teh card stamped. Then tomorrow while doing errands we will do more and get another stamp onthe card and repeat on thursday. {yes we have that many saved over time}. Only can get teh card stamped once per day. Must get 10 stamps to get a full card. Then we wiat til we have a mother load of bottles and cans to take back and THEN we cash in the stamped 7 cetn per card! The coupons come from the back of a grocery store recipt WHEN they print out on them and the coupon is intact. I think they are out cuz lately its been only plain paper receipts. Still I will get $10.80 for my bottles today. and get $10.80 tommorow and get $10.50 on thursday. and three more stamps ont he card. I don;t know how many bottle will be left after that, but I wil also be out of the 6 cent coupons too unless the store starts giving out more. I HATE it when the coupon pops up at the tear off part and is incomplete, Durn it! The money will pay for 1/2 tank fill up or OTC medications, probaly both split down the middle. Now if only they would print more coupons on the back of the receitps...
Gotta clean off the front porch. Getting rid of some bottles will help with that project. Must do in the early AM before gets hotter for the day as the poch is enclosed with rigid plastic walls and the sun just bakes it in there. MOH wants GRILLED steaks, NOT broiled as I do during winter. BUT gotta find the grill on the porch first!!!
Well don't know what other trouble i can get into today. could work more on t he porch but dunno. HATE doing that as the proch is NOT toatlly closed off and the neighborhood cats get in there and pee-mark everything!. I put the first bag in the Kia and when I went to put the second bag in I could smell the cat$1****$2 so I stacked up the bags outside the porch so as to not smell up the cehicle too much. too much activity means I could in bed the rest of the day with my back screaming insults at me as Jeffrey W. Would say. I could get sweaty now before I take my shower! Its a waste to get sweaty AFTER a good shower....Im late at getting to that too.
well I could also do some work inside where it is cooler. Have a bunch of stuff to clear out of the junk/train room I could do..or a section of the kitchen that is rather overrun with "shtuff" Maybe another day. Today IS garbage day.maybe i can get some SHtuff out to the curb. DOing laundry right now.
Well i will leave you all alone and to your own devices. That could be dangerous!
Havea great day!
Good Morning!! Cup of Dark Roast and a waffle with bacon please. Yes butter and maple syrup thank you. Didn’t sleep well last night. Stayed up watching some show called Criminal Minds ‘til one. Probably shouldn’t have gotten up at 6. A nap may happen this afternoon. Who knows. Miiight have to turn the AC on for the next day or two. Pushing the 90’s is just a bit too warm for the windows only. Temps should drop to more seasonable on…Thursday. I believe. But for now there is a cool breeze wafting through the house and the AC remains dormant (except for the pre season before it gets hot trial run to beat the rush should it decide to not work after it’s winter slumber firing up) Today I must go out to Mom’s house and get the door from the small shed that blew off and rebuild that then put back on. I’ll do that when I leave to do the grocery thing at 10ish. I did get down to the train room last night and built a bridge support. One more to go. I have do some trimming on the wood for the concrete abutments. Measuring for one end was spot on, but the other end needs trimmed. Hmmm, I could cut into the foam…. Nah. The I’d spend four months leveling. Jeff- Nice scene. We’re getting to see the rebirth now I guess. Just don’t show the graphic scenes ok? Weak stomach. Ken- Nope, wouldn’t mind posting more pictures at all. Right now it is about 12’ (not counting the closet which will be urban with no trains) by 13'. Roughly half the projected size of 12 X 24 or 6 depending on the disposition of my reloading bench. I decided to do it this way because….well, I don’t remember why originally, but I do know now, I’ve started having second thoughts on the track plan for the second half. Some of my railroading wants have changed. Glad I didn’t put up all the bench work and lay track. Ulrich- Prayers for your Mother. Welp, starting to rain, gently for a change, and a rumble or two of thunder and the humidity in the house has risen noticeably. Hands are sticky. The radar shows a small thunder boomer heading over us so guess I best get a movin. Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

Need several strong cups of coffee this morning...been raining and I just discovered we have a leak or maybe seepage in our basement. Fortunately the railroad room is bone dry. Anyone have a spare sump pump I can borrow?
Jeff, I'm sorry to hear about your foot, I had no idea it was that serious. Best wishes and hope your Doc can help. Nice photos, thanks for sharing.
And these car photos are bringing back fond memories: my dad used to have a 65 Chevelle with a 283 and I could practically climb into the hood to do tuneups. Today, I look into the hood of a car and can't even see the engine.
We're expecting out of town guests today and will be very busy for a few days,

Zoe, I'll have a breakfast bagel w/ cheese and a cup of dark roast coffee to start the day today. What? Oh, use the R&GV RR Mug.
Nice bright day outside today here in the Finger Lakes! Currently 56°F with a high in the upper 60's this afternoon. Puddles are drying up little by little and farmers just might be able to do their early April Plowing by next week.... everything is a bout 3 weeks behind around here this year. Will mean some iffy late crops for them.
Rob, hope the cleanup and repairs from the storm are going well. If I lived down there I'd be over to give you a hand, but the commute from here would be a little much....
Barry, go start up that contraption and run it a bit. Needs a couple hundred thousand on it with a few oil leaks... then it will look right. More like this:
Best get moving, got lots of stuff to do as always today.

***Barry, that engine is so filthy, have you ever considered spending some time cleaning it up a little bit?
Going to try working a bit this morning before it heats up. Have a good day y'all.
Good Morning,
Starting to warm up, might be 72F today. Everything is 1 month behind up here this spring, the April flowers are in full bloom and the May flowers are still dormant. We have had so much rain that I’ll have to pick about 5 gallons of rhubarb next week. I’ll load a sugar beet car and ship it to the diner, now where did I put that portable cleaner conveyer...
Curt, Nice Bowser K-9 and K-11’s. I would have to double check but I have about 20 of them total. Not sure where or when the doors went from silver to box car red, maybe you can shed some light on that? All my locomotives with sound are turned down, you can hear it when it goes by, but you can’t hear it at the other end of the layout unless its dead quiet in the room. I have the horns and bells set so you can hear them from across the room if it’s quiet. Right now the drumming of the locomotives traveling over the non-ballasted sections of track is almost louder than the locomotive. Except for the T-1 that 4-4-4-4 is just plain loud.
Ulrich, thoughts and prayers for your mother…
Thinking about going to the Pittsburg NMRA Convention next year...

coffee to open mine eyes, pleaaaaasssseee.
I did NOt sleep well last night. in fact was up more than asleep.
Well still running the furnace in the AM and A/c in the noon to eventide. WIll be around 65-70 today.
This spring has been miserable {across the country as well}, but more like what our springs were like when i grew up here. Even in June you would start to school wiht a jacket and sweat all the way home.
Dunno what i do today. sleep?
Have a great day!

Good Morning Gang,
it´s a sunny day again. High will be in the upper 70´s today, a little cooler than down south, where Petra and I live. My parents´ place is only a hop, a skip and a jump away from the Danish border, so we are really up north here. In the US or Canada, this would be Innuit country...
My Mom will be up for her surgery in a few hours. Although a routine job, it´ll take 4 hours. My Dad and I are all nervous - one never knows whether the old gal´s engine will kick in again when the restart it.
Chloe, just a coffee for me, please.
Have a good one!
Curt - Rayne is a cutie! I´d like to borrow her, just to give a little shock to some neighbors ...
Jeff - those pics

Flo, a pitcher of please. After today, I need one.
Work Front Spun the tires 60 feet, missed 2nd gear and dropped the drive shaft at the half way point and coasted through finishes line with a mere $550.00 is sales to day. ( starting to miss drag racing with all the car terms )
Todd Your last set of pictures look out standing! How big is your layout? Would you mind post some more pictures?
What is that smell? Oh, Hi Curt! Good looking buildings!
Packer Here is a fogger. I was going to use one on the Charger until we made the dyno run. Idea was it would cool the intake charge so I could get by with the little higher than I wanted compression. But, after it pulled 689 HP I realized the fogger would make things spit out the block! Even with deflashing the block and the 4 bolt main grid I was pushing the block at close to 700 hp. Besides, it was going to be a driver.
If I keep this up, I might just get the Road Runner back on the road this summer.

Evenin' Folks!
Flo, just a decaf for me tonight. I'll be in the back booth just relaxing for a while.
Went over to my son's house for a couple hours early this afternoon. We got all the large logs from the trees he had taken down cut into rounds waiting to be split and stacked. May get much of those done tomorrow. I also have been working on the dinner list for the Scholarship Dinner. Still waiting for several "reserved table" groups to get back to me with the names and what dinners they want (we have 3 choices, Prime Rib, Chicken French, and a Vegetarian Lasagna). Thursday Morning I have to get out the Ouija Board and make up some guesstiments of numbers and then try to get them adjusted at the college dining hall so we have the right number ordered to cover those who call o the day of the dinner to say they are coming.......... What part of Deadline don't people understand???
Curt, sorry to hear the little guy is having trouble walking. I hope the doc is able to give him some help if only for a while longer. he sure is a sweet looking little guy! How long do skunks usually live in captivity?
Jeffrey good luck at the Docs tomorrow. Hope they can keep you walking for a while longer as well...
Haven't been able to get down to the trains for 2 days now. Maybe I can sneak down there for a while tomorrow.
Hope everyone has a great night!
Just water for me. I have an appointment in the morning for a physical and I can't eat anything until that's done. So there goes the morning and possibly part of the afternoon.
Been putting in some trees today.
Small bowl of mixed nuts, please.
Been enjoying all the various layout pics. Keep 'em coming folks!
Started work on the shed roof today. Made a little progress.
Have a good night y'all.
Cheers! Rob
Evening al.....SKUNK!!!!!. HEAD FOR THE HILL...oh, it's just Rayne. Sorry to hear of the problems. Already ate, beef stroganoff. Pretty good too. But I could use a big ole bowl of ice cold applesauce for dessert please. Thanks! Boy was it windy!!! Got the lawn mowed and the porch finished. Now to repair the parts that are weathered beyond my wife’s liking. Jeff- I have to say Ezra’s is one of my favorite structures of yours. Time to retire to the train room. I have a bridge awaiting.

Good Evening,
A cool, day here with showers off and on and supposed to be like that until Thursday.
Had a very nice dinner last night for Mother's day. MIL and wife both liked it so all is well.
Curt, as for the weathering, is the packing building brick? It looks like it might be. I paint all my buildings before I assemble them and one like that would likely take me at least a week but then I only work an hour or so at a time. For brick I use a wash of Badger Antique White to bring out the grout lines and also to give the bricks a weathered look. If it is too heavy on the brick I just lightly rub some off. I use grimy black in a wash on the window frames, etc. and generally paint everything even if just a wash. By using flat paints, the shine goes away. I use grimy black on the roofs as well but just aim for a streaked effect so it looks weathered.
Well might do a decoder install tonight on a Model Power Pacific but I'm not feeling very energetic so who knows.
I did play with Robbie for a while. He has a new toy that my wife bought him on Saturday. He learned its name, Quackie, in about 2 minutes and now has 41 toys he can retrieve by name.
Well time to do maybe nothing,
CN Charlie
Afternoon guys
Stopped by the other store (the one I used to work at) and told a manager about what happened with the one girl and her facebook messages. She said she was sorry one of her employees said that, and that I should never should have had to put up with it. Put ethanol-free gas in my car again today. I got 19 mpg, even with the drag racing (computer says 2 mpg at full thottle) and driving about 1.5 hours at 85 to get there with the windows down.
Trains, Found out that the trucks from the newer atlas C420 will fit my Kato C425s. I wanted these C420 trucks since I can model them with exposed bearings, unlike the kato sideframes with are closed bearing. I'll see about ordering them in the future. I also found a source for those Bachmann NE12 cabooses I've been looking for. Turns out that bachmann did a later run of these with body-mounted McHenry couplers, upgraded tooling (much finer railings and ladders), and screw-in trucks. So I bought three at 4 bucks a piece, with 7 bucks shipping. I'm debating wether or not to have 1 of these still be in CB&Q colors but have BN patches. (2 will be green, maybe 1 with no roofwalks or ladders)
Curt, BLI made cattle cars that made cow or pig noises. One of my friends has some, but someone put smell in one car. Can't really tell from the photos but have you done motar lines to the building at all? Personally I like the smokestack, but it looks like it might be a bit glossy from the flash. Dullcote should fix that, but mask off the windows first. Never heard of pet skunks before.
Todd, progress looks good
Ken, Don't think I could translate because I haven't really worked on carburators before. I've watched my father do it, but I've really only messed with electronic fuel injection. What's a fogger though?
Vincent
Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
Afternoon All,
Flo I would love a unsweetened ice tea please.
Today is supposed to get to 94 and to 92 the rest of the week. I got all my modeling done today so I am happy about that. Sunday I start wiring andI have no idea how long that is going to take. I figure to run the 2 main buss, then feeders. I will be using IDC's for connection of feeders.
Our oldest male skunk Rayne (4 yo) started dragging his hind quarters yesterday. He is at the vet with tests being run. The vetsays his pelvis is degenerating due to loss of calcium and that he may never use his rear legs again. He does not act like he is in pain. I feel so bad for him. He is the most gentle animal I have ever known.
Ken- I am glad your sales are up again.
Todd- I love your wood ghost town.
Lee- The constant noise would drive me insane. I like sound loco's but a little goes a long way.
Howmus- Sounds like you had a great time Suunday.
Ulrich- Good luck with your Mother. I have said a prayer for her.
Jeff- I still like that gas station scene. Hopefully you will get some quality modeling time in. I find it amazing that in this day and age that a Federal building is not handicap accesible.
Johnboy- You haven't said anything so I hope the MD did not find anything serious.

Hey All ,
Hope as my Penn. firends say Hope "you uns "had an awsome mothers day. Ours was very quiet. MOH in bed all day, not feeling good, oldest daughter sick, younger daughter recovering from being sick. Went to church by self, came home fixed a little lunch for everyone, took a long nap. Then took care of the little ones so MOH could rest in peace.
Thanks for the from everyone about job . I called former employer and informed him MOH has a brain tumor that the docs tell us is terminial. Also informed him the treatments are 30k a month. THAT may have an impact on their offer. We will see. Did not want to make the jump and have them terminate me later due to running up their insurance later. Can they legally do THAT?The commute is a killer. One to two hours each way, now I am only forty minutes away. The stress level now is relatively low. At the former place it is at times off the charts high. Running up to sixty million dollars of production , hitting production dates ,with a high levels of finish, on or under budget and the only man on the site handling all of this (site work including underground utilites ,building pads and foundation, frame thru trades, drywall thru year end customer service) can make one a little crazy at times.
Jeff and TMARSH. Great job on the photos.
Uhrich - how are you doing?
Johnboy - what did the sawbones say ?
Also just a little note to all of those that are praying for us, Thank you!
Gotta get back to w**k. See you all tomorrow.
Good Morning All!
Not much to report from the land of Buckeyes on this sunny Monday other then I went railfanning this morning and saw 4 NS trains in 2 hours-kinda slow but, with floods and all I suspect it gummed up the rail traffic..No modeling over the past few days but,I have some projects lined up.
I shall have a cup and look over da forum.

Fairly nice day outside here in the Finger Lakes. A bright yellow, round orb shows up every now and then to help dry things up a bit.....
Been w*rking on stuff for the Scholarship Dinner so far this morning. Getting all the last minute reservations in and on the list. We are also providing funds for our speaker to drive up from Virginia next week (right now one of our members is putting together funds from the local college and a bunch of donations to get her here)..... She is Miss Virginia State University (2012), BTW, and one of our very own here in Geneva. She was one of my all time favorite little second graders way back when I was teaching Music, ended up being president of her HS Class, and has done some incredible things already in her young life. Can't wait to see her again! Just one of those wonderful people you can't help but like and admire.
Should be heading over to my son's house to cut up some firewood with him.
Jeffrey, nice scene!
Good morning. It's 74° and cloudy wind 12 mph SSW wind. The high will be near 90° and it will be partly cloudy.Today I want to get started with setting out bushes and trees on the layout, but I know that the moment I pick up one of those bags or jars somebody is going to decide they need me for something. It almost never fails. If I can get some trees set out I'll also be able to experiment with the dead fall another modeler (Ken) sent me. I have four bags of trees of various quality already sorted out and I have several Woodland Scenics jars of clump foliage for the bushes and there's plenty of glue.
Good Morning!! Coffee and a sweet roll please. Thank you Thanks for the kind words on the progress shots. Today, I must do the bookwork for the Church, then finish mowing and get the final boards I need for the porch. (railing and floor) then……Choo Choo’s I hope. Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!
