Robby, Lee: Ahem...just to remind you..WE have 134" total snowfall here...WE are supposed to get up to a FOOT more snow...and we have not even started February yet...

Good Morning! And HAPPY Last Day Of January!! Or Happy February Eve as it’s referred to in some regions. Mainly the more urban regions. Sorry no card, but I thought about it. Coffee and biscuits and gravy please. Thanks. Bama- Glad you’re feeling better. It's nice to know that, when I'm freezing to death here, you're outside grilling chops. Ken- Yes it’s too bad when dealing with banks we don’t know to ask questions about things we don’t know about. Robby- Sounds GREAT! My BIL works for NS. I’m pullin’ for ya! Just make sure Jessica understands and is ok with the hours and the not knowing when you‘ll work until the last minute. Literally. That can be the roughest part. The wife not understanding, though they say they do at first, just what being on the extra board is like. Today I plan on getting prepared for the onslaught of a MAJOR winter storm. We could get over a foot of s**w and sleet. Or so they say. I have to go to the Church and do the deposit and the payroll, then in to town to get coffee and a few staples, like tortillas and Ding Dongs, then fill up the truck and the fuel can for the generator and the sn*wblower. Then, to the basement to play with my train set. Can’t think of anything else to do on the eve of the worst winter storm this year. I'm with Garry, let's do the gulf coast, how about Mobile Alabama? We can set up right there between the CSX and the TSD. AND, there are several yards within just a little tugs distance.

Good morning all you fine folks.
WEll, Sorry to hear about California TWhite's condition. will go out for him with the prayer candle.
Robby sounds like any job will do...at least you have offers!!!
KEN-it sucks that "abatement adjustments" to mortgages have to be paid back so quickly and when they demand it. Financial advisors are advising people in such situations to still save the different amount and pt safely asside as the Bank WIL demand it back, Pronto. I hope you can find another house pronto that will suit your needs to either rent of buy. If you buy can again, perhaps look for something less expensive and easier to maintain payment wise. I just paid May 2011's payment ont he Kia, and the bank "so kindly informed me" in early Dec. "that because I have a very good payment record with tehm, I could kindly skip Dec and Jan's payments to help with my Christams bills" Problem was the next payment to be made was March 2011!!!{paid in Dec}. Dec and Jan's payments were mailed out in Sept and Oct alreadY! Atleast I am ahead of the ball here.
The MIL is is hte hospital again. Kindney infection and pneumonia. FIL called 911 all o his own without panicing and calling MOH first and took her to the hospital. Unfortunately in 4 months she has been in 3 times. I told MOH to be prepared...the more frequent she goes in, the less and less likely she is to come out, at least without not going to a nursing home first. ANd she may never recover from that. I hope kindney infection doesn't lead to 83 y/o kindey failure and dialysis, Like TWHITE is experiencing. MIL has requested REAT and NO VISITORS, INCLUDING kicking OUT my FIL! Of course he can be such a pain to her that I wouldn't blame her.
MY father is also, according to the "number" in end stage kidney failure. But the problem there is that they changed the numbers so he "moved into" that category. He used to be in early stages kindney failure, now the numbers have moved so he is now in end stage kindney failure with a report of "unremarkable findings". So he has been trying to drink more water instead of soda to help quench his thirst. He is 76.
I am surviving my back surgery ok. Some pain has been eliminated, but not all. I still cannot function well at getting the household chores done, and cannot give up the cane either. I have noticed my hips, after a lot of walking like shopping are also hurting. Wondering if I have Arthritis settling in my hips too. WOuld NOT look forward to a hip replacement! But that would be a long way off yet I think.
Yummy. I am still "middle aged" heading for the "nifty fifties" so not ready to be an "old man yet". But I must deal with what I must deal with, I guess. Hopefully I wont become a cranky old man like the FIL is!
Ken-SELL SOME MATTRESSES! LOTS OF "EM!
Robby- Good luck on either job! Just don't let NS know you are a railfanner/modeler they tend NOt to like those kind!
TWHITE- get better!
Well, bless you all for a great day!

Barry, I’m sure you guys just wanted to share, but you can keep it for now, LOL!
Robby, I just looked at www.Accuview.com, you shouldn’t get any snow, just freezing rain, sleet, and temps in the single digits.
Thoughts and prayers go out to Twhite for a fast recovery.
John, I complained to Dorothy for the first couple of months we were dating to put the seat back up, LOL!
Rob, I hear its easy to MU on DCC, haven’t done it yet so whatever you learn pass it on.1

Good morning y'all. Boy its wet outside! We got a good dousing of rain last night with more expected over the next couple of days. Oh well, nothing wrong with that, just makes it harder to work on vehicles on the "Mobile Service" side of my mechanical skills.
Garry, I would agree with you on Mobile, Al, that would be awesome actually (not as far for me to chase down the diner if needed).
Todd Sir, I apologize for making the cold weather up your way seem trivial, but this weekend was wonderful down here, and I had to take advantage of it. Have a grilled chop on me sir, I promise its good!
Lee Thanks for checking out the decoder price, I'll keep my eyes open for one.
Welp, I think I'll take a large glass of milk, order of biscuits and gravy, with a side of bacon and sit in the window booth and see whom else comes around, and what comes down the tracks, I think I see smoke coming from over yonder, heading this way....
LSWrr Jeff, you don’t happen to have a motor for a Penco-AHM-Rivarossi GG1 hiding in your closet do you?
Good morning. It's 49°and foggy. The high will be close to 70° with a 50% chance of rain. Rain will continue tonight. Not much happening today. I have an appointment with the foot doc this morning. I may get some work done of the layout this afternoon, depending of course on how much my ankle hurts. I have a high tolerance of pain but I do have my limits. The human ankle is designed to be walked on as a functional unit, which mine is not. You'd think I'd have them just take it off but I'm still rather attached to it. Last nights project was to put a Bachmann FT shell on an Athearn F7 frame. It required only a small amount of cutting but it was quickly accomplished.

Zoe, I'll have the #2 special, eggs over easy, bacon, home fries, and a double order of sour dough toast if you please. Huh? Oh, of course i want my usual cup of dark roast coffee in a FGLK mug.
Mobile Alli Bammer? Is that with or without the tar balls? Sounds OK to me. Guess I'll have to get used to grits with breakfast. Luckily they taste just like whatever you put on them........
Hey guys, don't worry about the storm! Winter is officially over up here. Looked out of the window while doing the cross word puzzle this morning and there were six, yep I counted them, SIX Robins eating the berries in the Flowering Quince tree. Guess they got tired of the cold down South........ (More likely a group that wintered over here.)
Last night I had a lot of fun. Was getting ready to paint some more little tiny levers and wheels and brackets for the belt drive system. Had them in a little plastic cup..... Set the cup on the bench, reached over it to turn on the paint booth, and knocked the D^%& F^$^^& Cup over. Parts went flying everywhere. So I spent the next 15 - 20 minutes on my hands and knees trying to find the d@%% F&$*& little parts!!! Did finally manage to account for all of them and got them painted. This project is becoming a major PITA! I put up a couple of progress picts in the WPF thread last night.
Hope all of you stay safe (and warm) during the storm! Looks to be a "fun" one! I need to spend time today getting as much wood (covered in white stuff) moved from the driveway to the back porch........
Later!

Lunch time.
Been cleaning the house most of the morning. I'm about done with that. Now watch the news/weather and see what were in for. I know Lee said ice/rain but anything but ice!!
Well the Steelers just left for Dallas . You wouldn't believe how many stores are closing for the game Sunday. Last time they made it, schools were on a two hour delay the next day. Heck even a BIG murder trail up here has the judge moving it to Tuesday. I guess he thought everybody (juror) would be hung over!! Talk about people loving the Steelers!!
Galaxy.......I've had a few people tell me not to mention those two things. Believe me I won't. That would be a great job, and it would really open some doors.
Ray........I'm glad weather is over up your way, but how about coming down here and telling "old man winter" its over for us also . You had a few robins, I had two squirrels going to town on my feeders. By the way...........Grits aren't that bad. I just had some the other day. I guess I don't mind them since I ate them all the time down south .

Afternoon folks. (waring no spell check at work)
Pretty much waiting to see what is going to happen with the weather today. Still talking about 1/4 to 1/2 inch of ices and 8 to 10 inches of snow. Wife called and said she heard on TV they are calling out the National Guard for the storm.
Car has a little ice on it but does not amount to anything yet.
Did have one customer this morning and they did buy. All most willing to bet they will be the only people I see.
Man, I hope I can find some on the way home!
Ken

Good afternoon friends!
Robby- Good luck on the interview with NS... To agree with the others, do not mention the railfanning/MRR stuff, that is instant "Thank you, but no thank you" territory. Also, I made SURE my wife understood what the railroad was like. NS especially, last minute call for a job that signs up in two hours and is just that far from the house... not uncommon at all (quite a few of the conductors that I work with at VRE came from NS and I've heard all the horror stories). I know it'll be a good job for you! Good luck my friend!
Ken- glad to hear the new job is working for ya! Keep it up!!!
Prayers for all in need.
A cup-a-joe to go please? Thanks!
I will be working this saturday morning for the V53 test train. Unfortunately V52 is out of service after an AMTRAK crew hit a tree with it on it's way back from Richmond last wednesday... messed up the fiberglass front, knocked out both ditchlights, completely shattered the headlight glass and engineer side mirror. Should be interesting to see just how fast they can get it fixed.

Good Afternoon...
Looks like the storm is going to be a big one...the talk is about a foot of the stuff, or more now......just what we needed to see. After shoveling every day last week...along comes a major dump... ...sigh

Hey folks. big bowl of grits and maple syrup. Thanks.
I've just finished prepping up my Jeep for the snow. I crammed up all the fuel I could in the tank. I've got a snowmobile and a full tank of gas in my Jeep. So all I can say is...
BRING IT ON

***Sam, what was an AMTRAK crew doing behind the controls in the first place?
Have been having fun running the wife's (HO) trains today. Switched from DCC back over to DC, just to test out her Atlas U30B with the track cleaning car. No problem! Then added her log buggies and it kept on going. A few OZ sure makes a big difference in traction.
Would like to share a few pics, but haven't figured out how to do so from this puter!?!?!?

Afternoon folks!
Wow! Suppertime already! Flo I'll have Spaghetti and meatballs and a trip to the salad bar. Oh and bring the Grated Cheese and and the red pepper to the booth and leave them for me. A cup of decaf would go very well too.
Well! So far I have sat at the computer doing NMRA business for the last 7 hours! OK, I did take time to get another wheelbarrow of wood brought to the back porch, but I should have gotten 5 or 6 loads done.... OH, and I had to drive a block over to the Vets to get some Hairball Remedy for the boys (and a few packs of some kitty treats they like.) The Vet suggested that if they are having.... I think the term she used was.... Hard Stools I could get some canned pumpkin and mix it with their canned food. She said it gives them a bit more fiber... I told her at my age I certainly understand that..... She howled! I got some remedy at the grocery store but they didn't have the type the boys like and the stuff i bought is mostly oily, runny goop that ends up on the floor istead of on my finger for them to lick off.... Yuck!'
Anyway I got up to a series of emails form the Secretary who wants to reincarnate out old newsletter as an email thing. So we have been exchanging emails all day, upgrading email addresses that I didn't have in the membership list, and deciding how best to accomplish it. I have an online list already to go, just needed to be updated with the addresses I didn't have. He wanted to do something else.... I think we have it under control for the time being. Having a Division newsletter should be a great bonus for the members. Now we need to get writing articles!
Barry, we didn't touch your pancakes! we may have borrowed the Maple Syrup so the grits have some flavor..... THAT's pronounced "Gree-yits" BTW.
I am going to sit for a while, enjoy supper, and then head down to the basement for a bit!
All Aboaaard!
