Here is my favorite Duck. A Mallard at that! Big Smile

Galaxy Glad you are back and hope you heal up quackly going with the Duck Theme.

Not going to get rich with days like today! Had one customer today but they did buy a $300.00 queen set. All most hate to say it, but it is a good mattress set with a 10 year warranty.

Guess I am fighting with the Idiots on my day off! Called unemployment 3 times today and no one returned my phone calls. Plus I got a letter today telling me the new phone interview is on 01-31-2011! Bang Head My last check was before Christmas, how do they think people can live on nothing for over 30 days? Thank God I am working and going full time next week!

Evening all.

Haven't been in in a week. Extremely busy.

Hockey every other day, and then studying for exams. Was supposed to have the first two (theology and physics) today, but the snow kept us out of school. So we'll be having those two tomorrow.

No time to stay and talk and/or catch up, so I'll see you guys later.

Galaxy: When they did the operation on me to put the ICD in they did basically the same thing without the general anaesthetic ...man, the feeling of someone poking and prodding in my upper chest to make room for the ICD was something else!! http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_eek.gif http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_scared.gif I can see how that must feel to have that going on there!!! http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_surprised.gif

I didn't mind so much being awake as much as I did feeling the PAIN I was feeling while he was cutting me open, excising the tumor and cutting it out and the needles going in to stitch me up in two layers- one degradeable and one to be removed next week. The tuging and pulling wasn't so bad, but the stabbing pains - well not so much liking it.

I just wish someone had told me I WAS GOING TO AWAKE durning the proceedure too!

ALSO...after we did some errands today {allowed} I had MOH do a quick look-see at it and MOH said it had some ooze  and was puffy {due for the ice pack anyway at the time}, so I hope that cures up quick. If it doesn't stop by tomorrow or so or gets worse, i will have to go have it looked at, as it shouldn't be doing that.

The pain of having the surgery still superceeds any idea of feeling of any accomplishment towards easing my overall chronic back pain. TO early yet to tell, but I don't hold hope as doing The right side didn't accomplish a thing towards that.

Oh well, what is done is done and i suppose I little worse for the wear.

The big errand today was to pick up the Grand Caravan for a tranny repair  at Firestone costing about $675 dollars. I got in the mail last week a coupon for what I THOUGHT was 20% off work done, but was only 20 DOLLARS  off. I was so disappointed that it was only $20 off, not 20%. Then I get home and get in the mail today a coupon for 15% off up to $75 of repairs from Firestone. I called back to the store to provide the humorous note that I got it, and he said bring it tomorrow maybe the manager can do something with it. I hope so! That will drop the repair to about $600.00 even. I could use that $75.00 and I DO spend a lot at Firestone on repairs/maintenance/inspections/etc for both vehicles. The Kia is due for inspection in March adn I need a lifetime frontend alignment done on teh Kia as the Kia dealer found the tires out of whac after only 4K miles by a realatively high amount for brand new tires. I'm not sure a frontend alignment has ever been done ont he Kia. It is becoming evident that a lot of things were nto done on the Kia. Apparently the previous owner bought it figured to drive it 4 years for as little maintenance as possible and trade her in.

Speaking of the Kia Sedona minivan, it goes in THursday for motor mount replacements as the existing ones ahve deteriorated. It only took them 4 months to get them and all the parts necessary to do the job in to the repair shop. It will take a good half day's solid work to replace tehm, but it covered under warrantee. Yippee.

WEll, I have bored you all enough already, ahve a great evening!

Good Lord, I go on a train trip and when I come back to the Diner, Ducks all over the Diner, I even slipped on the steps going into the Diner.

No Sciatica pain for 3 months now thank the good Lord, of course the "rack" that they put me on for many sessions brought me from a reduced 5'-8 1/2" to nearly my once adult height of 5- 10". Now my pants fit better too LOL.

I am about to get back to trains again now that the holidays are over and the wife's misc jobs are all done ( gee , I wonder for how long , hmmmmmm , I had better hide ).

I hope you guys have all been well, I see some of the old gang here tonight, I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year. I sure remember the years when Duke, Ed and Fergie would dance on the table tops here until 5 in the morning, and poor John would just shake his head.

I received an HH660 for Christmas, this was the first Diesel that ran on the old Boston and Albany main line out of Worcester, it was used mostly for yard duty back in 1939, the year I was born, wow that was a long time ago wasn't it ? It is undecorated so I plan to paint it the original color and B&A markings.

Weatherwise , we have clobbered here lately, two Blizzard's and 4 more inches today, now ice, then more snow on Friday, another big one with over 6". I don't know where we will put the snow, I have the snow blower shooting as high as it will go now. If it is heavy wet snow on Friday, I am screwed, it won't throw it that high with the banks so high now.

Well, that's it for now, good to see you guys again,

Bon Soir mais amis

Wife approved of the latest work done on her (HO) layout. Made me run her train, too. First with a log load, then a few circus box cars. Track still has a couple bad spots, both being switches. Grumpy Added some "junk" around the Sons Of Anarchy building.

Well I got the stakes on the work caboose. That doesn't sound hard right? I had to file the end of each one so they would fit. The next step will be to cut and mount the wooden slats. Doesn't sound hard right? I don't have any scale lumber so I'll have to cut my own. Doesn't sound hard? I don't have the tools for that so each piece will have to be carefully cut from a craft stick and filed down until it's at least near scale thickness. That's gonna take some time.

Good Evening - Quack!

Are we down to the ducks now? Well, here is one of my favorite:

A somewhat boring afternoon which I tried to fill searching the web fo more ideas. I found a page on building a modular N scale layout. The guy is a genius! He found a very efficient way of building small modules to be arranged to a bigger layout. Just take a look here

It is all in Japanese, but, although a little tedious, clicking through is worthwhile!

Galaxy: Good to hear the surgery went well. I can feel your pain about feeling the pain (no pun intended) during the surgery. I had to endure the same thing on my last two surgeries. Fortunately I have next to no feeling in my feet, so it didn't hurt all that much until they started nipping off pieces of the bones. I do hope that the tests on the tumor come back as benign. You have enough on your plate as it is.

Hey guys

Trip to the junkyard went well. Found a maunual chair rack for the driver's side, a few small switched, and some wiring harnesses that I need to use my explorer intake. Never did find a 5.0 powered explorer; the mark 7s were all gone (wanted the cam from one), and every 94-04 mustang there had busted passenger side mirrors.

Managed to get the door swapped on my car last night, but the power window didn't work. This morning I took the one that was originally in my car out and used it. Turns out the one in my car had been replaced at one point, so I lucked out there and it was a fairly easy swap (took about an hour) That aluminum clutch quadrant and firewall adjusted made a huge difference. It's a whole lot easier to manipulate the clutch so I don't have to give it gas to move.

Galaxy, Good to hear the surgery went well. Although the part about them not knocking you out. doesn't sound too good.

Barry, Lol. My mother has a bunch of wood ducks, now I think she may have cameras in their eyes.

JR, I personally don't like the steelers, so I'd pull for the Jets in the AFC. Of course I'd love to see the Packers bring the Lombardi trophy back home.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Mornin' everyone!  QUACK!

What was THAT?  DUCK!  Oh.......  Didn't expect a duck staring at me outside the window.  A dear old friend of mine on the MLK Committee has a last name of Mallard.  She is also a delightful, off the wall lady with a great sense of humor.  She often signs her email to me as Mrs. Duck!  Her daughter who is now a teacher locally was in 7th. grade my first year in Geneva and sang in the chorus was one of the MLK Scholarship winners way back when....

Todd, thanks for your comment.  I mentioned to a couple of people that I have spent 1/3rd of my life as a member of the committee.  Got some huge grins back. Big Smile I get way more back in terms of good feelings than I have to put in, BTW.  I really do believe that education and opportunity can and do make a huge difference in the quality of individual lives, communities, Nation, and the World.  I also believe strongly the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  That people should be judged "...... by the content of their character!"

Zoe, I'll have one of those breakfast bagels w/ cheese and a mug of dark roast coffee this morning.

Galaxy, glad to hear you are home and doing well!  Not good that they left you feeling the pain of the surgery though.  I know you will make that very known to the surgeon when he sees you for the checkup!!!

Later!

Morning all!

THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH FOR THOUGHTS, PRAYERS AND CONCERNS FOR MY SURGERY!

I did not feel like posting when we finally got home at 6:00 pm, nor did I feel like dictating to the other half to post. I can speak way faster than MOH can type. SO sorry for the delay in posting a response.

The surgey went well. THe surgeon found just exactly what we expected to find, another Lipoma tumor {hopefully also benign}, only bigger than the other one on the right side, which we knew from the MRI pictures.

My big gripe about the surgery is that this time the anestesiologist elected NOT to put me out for the surgery like I was last time {concerned about the fact that I use the CPAP {Continuous Positive Air Pressure machine} at night {for snoring and sleep apnea} and a load of crap about being unsure i'll breathe. HELLO! If I'm intubated there will be no problem. I gripe because they did not warn me when the Dr. was in to start and I FELT the cutting/pulling, snipping and several other PAIN things along in the surgery. About 5 mins into it I realized  the Dr. must have started and said "are you down there Dr. Tvetenstrand?" to which the nurse shushed me, admonished me and said the "Dr. is working and he needs to concentrate so be quiet" TO which I replied "well I feel the pain!" which she naturally ignored. I dunno if the Dr. or anestesiologist gave additional pain kilers or not as I continued to feel it- the cutting, and pulling and such, and knew when it would soon be over as I could feel the pain of the needle going in to put sutures in and tugging to pull the sutures tight.

Overall, I came thorugh it with flying colors and so far teh incision looks to be healing right as Storm, and not oozing anything bad or anything. I can shower in 24 hours and obviously no lifting for about 2 weeks. I see the Dr. in a week to remove the sutures, and check healing process. I will be sure to tell him about feeling the pain of the surgery!

SO, not much else to report. I skimmed over all the last two days of messages adn was surprised how many well wishes and thoughts and waiting to hear word there was about my surgery! Thanks guys! Muchly appreciated! And i think it did some good as i came through with flying colors so far! I say so far, cause the biopsy still has to show benign and i have to ask the surgeon likelyhood of them growing back again? Also hard to tell if this will help aleviate some of the  chronic constant back pain I have been having for 1.5- 2 years as it will be hard to tell the surgery pain from the back pain for about a month.

Well. I shall now move on and read some more of the forum and see what else happened these last two days.

Thanks guys!

Have A GREAT day!

Good Morning! Coffee and a sweet roll please. Thanks.

Um, is that duck staring at me?

I have a plethora of things to do today, and yes El Whoppo, I know what Plethora means. Oddly enough, I don’t have to do them all today and that just seems weird.

Ken- No fighting over NCIS. It’s probably my favorite show. The problem I had with the marathon was it kept me from playing in the train room and I had things I wanted to do in there. Worst part was it was for two days. Good thing was I did get accomplished in there most of what I wanted to do. Though there is still plenty I could have done had I not kept going out to watch the show.

Ray- I am pleased the service and diner went well. I know you and others work hard all year for this cause, and yesterday was like the end of one year and the beginning of a new. It’s nice people work so hard for other people. Others should take notice.

I MISSED THE HOBBY IS DYING THREAD!?!?!? Oh my gosh! I best start hording supplies, kits, track, oh my GLUE! What if I run out of glue! Tongue TiedSilly putty?  Morning Folks!

Flo, short stack of pancakes and a diet Dew please.

John If you find the name of the power that would be great, but don't tear up the train room looking for it! While the Nickel is still all there on the Y6 b my Hudson and RSD 15 wheels are down to the copper, or is it brass? But they still pick up power with no problems so I am not that worried about it.

Far as the Y6, it is on the back burner for awhile. Right now I am running my none sound diesels. As much as I like my steamers, sometimes I like quite. I am in the quite mode right now.

I did compare the new track cleaning car pad to my older one. I can see a big differences between them. Maybe the new car will solve the problem, but I am not holding my breath either.

I wonder when Galaxy is going to drop back by?

Going to try to get hold of a Live Idiot on the phone today. I hope I can avoid going to the unemployment offices in person. I wonder how long I will have to wait for my funds after this mess up? Luckily the new job pays ever week so I will have gas and food money.

Well, I need to get ready for work. Catch you folks later today.
