Mornin' everyone!
Zoe I'll have the #2 Special, eggs over easy, bacon, home fries, and a double order of that wonderful sourdough toast.
I've been busy trying to get the lst bits done on the Art and Poetry contest. One more school got back to early this morning. There is only one ? on a name from the High school, so I just emailed the teacher to get the proper spelling. I will have 7 certificates to reprint with the correct names. A couple were clearly the fault of the committee when theyt wrote them down as I have checked the entry forms, and they are spelled right there..... Happens every year.
Currently 21°F under sunny skies here in the Finger Lakes. THAT will change later tonight. Nothing terrible forecast just a paltry little 2" or so. I probably will pass on driving to Rochester for the R&GV RR Museum monthly meeting though. I will get a call in the FGLK to ask permission to do some railfanning along the ROW and find out what the train schedule on one section of track is over the next few days.
Jeffrey, hope your Doctor's appt. goes well. I've been trying to get the vision of an ankle THAT looks like an Amtrack wreck out of my head........

We'll get there sooner or later!
Shocks are not getting installed today on the Town Car. Called Bob and they are slammed with Tow Runs. Good day to own a tow truck and a snow plow.
One good thing is the snow is dry and lite. So it was easy to sweep a side, should be able to get the car out,
There is a Town Car in there some where!
Gives you a idea how deep the snow is.

It is still snowing and sure is pretty. I love snow, and I don't mind the 12 inches we got either! But, I rather get it 3 inch at a time and not 12 inch all at once.
Daytona It did start! Did not think it was going to make it, but the engine fired on the last crank the battery had in it. Ran it for about 15 minutes then started it again and cranked fine. Think I will throw the charger back on it for a hour or so.
Todd or any other car person. Do you think setting the charger to 10 amps and let it run for a hour would be to much? Or would you use the 2 amp trickle?
See you all later, Ken

Good morning. Just a quick stop this morning. I'm on my way out to an appointment with the foot doc. We'll see what he thinks of the condition of the foot and ankle. Even from the outside it resembles an Amtrak crash.

Good Morning,
Larry; according to the weather guessers you will be knee deep in snow by morning where I’ll only get 1-6”. I can transfer a proper modern rotary plow and 2-8-4 to your layout if you need help digging out.
Fergi: I’m working on scenery and in the middle of back drop work so I have everything everywhere on the layout, LOL. I’ll try to do some new pictures next week.
Utica - Macomb TWP, Michigan trip is this Saturday…
Ken, that storm is heading up into Ohio from the south, but I hear it will stall out at Larry’s house and I won’t get much at all. I loved the Zombie term.
Jeff, I love the bus!
Open house Last night: Wow, talk about a mini disaster! The BLI 4-4-4-4 is unresponsive. The two Berkshires lost their programming, the new switch machine on Main #1 wasn’t operating properly (needs a minor adjustment), I never finished the repairs to Main #3, and the driveway became a solid sheet of ice by the time everyone was ready to go home. The big attraction that saved the night was the upgraded wiring under the layout and the discovery that I used mostly working brass turnouts on the layout to save money.

Seems I was off on the snow fall. According to the radio we got hit with 12 inches of snow! They are calling for another 2 inch before noon.
Todd Normally your area get's hit harder than we do, seems you dodge the bullet this time around.
Sure glad I don't have to work today! I wonder if the store will even be open today? Seems like it is going to be a Train Day Today.
Ken
Good Afternoon,
it is quite cold outside, about 30 F, with some snow flurries. Not much, just enough to get nervous about road conditions again ....
Flo, mug of coffee for me, please.
Wolfgang - that´s a very atmospheric picture - I like it.
I am in the process of preparing a "shopping list" for the MRR stuff I need to get started. The list is not yet a mile long, so there are hopes I can work it down soon!
TTFN!
Hi,
some hot coffee please. Like Ulrich wrote, here comes winter back. We had in the morning snow again.
And - of course - at the railroad too:

Good Morning! Before I say anything, I’ll need a cup of coffee please. Flo, the coffee pot’s over there. Flo! Where’s she going? Probably has to use the restroom. I’ll just get it myself. (siiiip) aaaah. Today: Snow likely, mainly before noon. Cloudy, with a high near 22. Wind chill values between 3 and 12. North northwest wind between 6 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible. Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around -2. Wind chill values between -7 and -12. Northwest wind between 6 and 16 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. We got some sn*w. No 3 inches as predicted, maybe 2 to stretch. Again a dry light snow, so no backbreaking wet one. We should get some snow rearranging with the wind tonight. Then the local weather person can go shove his measuring stick in a drift and show how much snow fell. Yes, he has done that. ‘twas a good 6 or 8 inches that day IIRC. Jeff- I like the bus. Used to watch the show regularly too. Can’t tell if the bus is slightly, and I mean slightly smaller than 1/87, or if the firetruck has larger i.e. heavier duty tires (which it would) than the original size tires on a school bus, especially of that year, that make the body look just a tad small or the wheels a tad large. Juuust a tad though. Could be the solid style wheel too, but I think it’s the tire is thicker. No matter, looks good. Besides, them Loo-zee-anner boys are gonna need that heavier tire when they drive that baby back in the briars and thorns to go fishin and a trappin for a couple days. I was a good boy yesterday and did not work on the layout as a I wanted. Today is a possibility. Maybe. I do need to get to Mom’s apartment for the mail and to her bank to transfer some funds today. Friday’s are too busy and this Saturday My Aunt is coming up so that day will be shot and who knows about Sunday. I'll just play it by ear. However, the OSB and foam are in the garage awaiting. Welp, best get going, I want to stop off at the E-bay and check out what’s offered for a short before I have to get out and shovel sn*w. Oh, I hear Brenda shoveling!!! EGADS!! I’ll never hear the end of this. I gotta go!

Well we got Nailed Pretty good last night! Looks like we got around 7 inches of the white stuff. It is 17 degrees outside right now, so not that cold. Gee, the weather people where right for a change. Only thing I and unhappy about is I have no Boots. Cleaning off the cars is not going to be fun.
Have a 10:00 AM appointment to have shocks installed on the Town Car, need to call and see If Bob is still going to have time to do them. Bet they are going to be doing a lot of towing today.
Well, I will drop by later.
Good Morning All,
Just thought I'd duck in for a quick coffee. Good to see Dick stopped by as well. Ed shows up on trainboard now and again but I haven't seen to much of him here for a while and not at all in the coffee shop.
Not much to report on the MRR front. We continue to sort through surplus stuff to take to the Amherst show in Springfield (next week already) from the museum and I've been picking away at the layout room at home. I want to figure out the ceiling before I go any further. My quandry is the heating system is in the floor above the joists and if I install a regular tile ceiling it will block the radiated heat (no other system in the basement at present). If I delete the ceiling, every time there is traffic above, dust will filter down onto the layout. Wonder if I can fit screening to the ceiling and stop the dust but still let the heat through? Just too cheap to install a radient heat grid in the basement floor. Thoughts?
Haven't kept up with the posts but hope Barry and G are doing ok and Jeffs' doc trip goes ok for his ankle/foot exam. Try to stop in later but it's been busy busy in the shop. CUL, J.R.
Good morning.
Looks like a few of us is getting some snow today. The local news said 3-5, and the Today Show said 6-8. So I say 3-8 .
Off to class this morning. Get done early and get ready for the snow.
Have a good day everybody!!

Dick ... Good to see you. I did not know about Sweden's using museum equipment to clear snow. Sounds like you could use it in Mass. also. That global warming is terrible. Duke has been in the diner but not OJ Ed. Paul has not been in much lately either.
I just made a 1/87 1920's Kleiber panel truck from an all metal kit I've had for a long time. It has many tiny details. (I don't know how people can do N scale.) Next, I will weather it heavily becuase it will be in my junk yard. I have weathered an old Ford already. I'm working on scenery in the junk yard. I made a shanty for it. Eventually I'll have it completed.

Good evening gents, I am one tired dude tonight, after the 4" of snow yesterday it turned to freezing rain. So today we have tons of snow and ice to remove. 6 inches more due Friday and yet another snow storm due next Tuesday. The North Atlantic Oscillation is trumping La Nina big time here in New England.
It's good to see you guys again, but I haven't seen Duke or OJ Ed in the Diner yet. Ed must be picking oranges and Duke is teaching his new grandchild all about model railroading.
Did you guys read about what Sweden had to do because of the tremendous snows they have had this winter? They actually had to take MUSEUM equipment back out onto the rails to help clear snow!!!! Now that is really a sight to see, I sure hope we get to see some photos of that, maybe Ulrich will get some from the news wire in Europe.
Have a great evening guys, time to hit the sack,
bon soir
Evening all, just stopping in for the night and some dinner. Think I'll take the grilled cheese plate with french fries and a large sweet tea. I'll take my dinner at the RC for right now. Been a good day off from w*rk. We did go by the church and get lesson plans ready for the kids church workers.
Ken, you could probably find a blem battery at something like a Battery Source, or another store that pretty well sells just batteries. As far as a used battery, most of the auto parts store will sell them. Glad to hear that the Daytona started up, so at least you might not need one for it.
Well, I guess I'm going to perview the other topics around here and enjoy my dinner, might stop back in before calling it a night.
Looking back at the Duck Posts.

Sir Madog Good Morning Everyone! Ken - how´s that for a Mallard: This loco is said to hold the world speed record at a little over 125 mph. 3 of them are still in working order and can be seen heading steam specials throughout the year in UK.

How's this for a duck quack quack
Galaxy- Yikes! that would get my attention in a hurry, feeling something moving around inside is not natural. Hope you don't have to have surgery again.
Oh, and an interesting thing about Mallard, the LNER A4, she was towed to the NRM's shiloh location by Tornado a few months ago. Two record locomotives on the main line, man I wish I could of seen that.

Last of the Daytona up dates for today. Pulled the battery charger and she cranked right up. Thursday morning if it still has a charge I may have caught a break.
Time for Test Drive 6.
BamaCSX83Ken, the only way I know of you being able to get a $40 battery will be either a used one, or a "blem" battery.
I be happy with a Blem, now where do you buy them?
Daytona did fire up, was dropping a hole for about two minutes then started hitting on all 4. Could smell varnish from the gas going bad but not that bad. Got up to temp and letting it set for about 15 minutes and will check the fluids. Still have it on a 10 amp charge and the battery seems to be taking it.
All so have a newer battery from the 68 Road Runner, but it been sitting idle for a few years. Wrong case sizes but might fit and it's a 700 amp battery. When the 426 is hot, takes a lot of amps to get her fired up.
Time to go check, crossing my fingers the battery has taken a charge.
Ken, the only way I know of you being able to get a $40 battery will be either a used one, or a "blem" battery.
Would have been a good time to play "Will It Float".
Just got back from the Unemployment offices, talk about just plain dumb luck!
I sat there for about 2 hours when they finally called my number. I had just sat down and started to talk with the Zombie when another lady stepped out ad called my name? Reason that as odd is the Zombie had not enter my mane in the computer yet!
Spoke up and she took me back to her offices. It seems the computer printed the 17th on the letter but it should have been today the 19th. She had called my house two times and we did not answer because we where sitting there in there offices!
She took a chances and and called my name there and there I was! Hope we got the paper work taken care off. They still have no been able to get hold of any one at Ashely that knows my name and that I worked there. Plus no one knows who Matt Phillips is, is he in hiding?
Getting ready to play "Will It Start" with the Dodge Daytona. Need to get some more anti freeze in it and I hope the battery takes a charge. I guess the days off $40.00 batteries are over.
See you later
Barry was right. The foam from Menard's is.......pink.
Now, do what I should be doing, or, finish the benchwork.
Just wow on that video, and I agree with Jeff, how exaclty do you explain that one? "well, the car was parked and well, you see!"
still haven't made it to the church as both girls have decided that its nap time, so I'm probably about to join in on their napping.
Later taters!
