Good "flurry" morning. Maybe some snow tomorrow, and later this week. The temps, well in the 20's - 30's for highs.
I have some running around to do this morning. Then come home and do some things also (dishes, etc...). Maybe this week I can start on the layout Ulrich made up for me, which I love!!
Other than those few things, thats pretty much my day.
I will pop back in later, and have a good morning.
"Rust, whats not to love?"

I have to stop moaning about how cold it is here. Only 39 now. in sunny mid Fla. Then I read what the temps. are where you Yankees and Canuks are. If I could afford it, I'd move south to be with Ed.

Good morning. It's 47° with clouds and brief appearances of some bright disk. The high will be 67° and it will be mostly cloudy.I have to go into town later today. I need to go to the pharmacy and drop off the list for my meds then to the post office to mail some boxes, one of which will be going to Missouri while the other two will go to their destinations north of the Mason/Dixon line. I still have some HO stuff to get rid of and I'm working with several prospective customers at this time. I know I'm going to have some items left over. Guess I'll have to take them to the flea market in Pickering and be happy with whatever I can get for them. Still have some layout work that needs to be done also. There are some places where the wall joint compound cracked while it was drying. I'll have to fill those in with a skim coat of plaster before those areas can be painted over. I still have to get the wiring for the structure lighting done.
Sir Madog Finally, i was able to buy an office chair. I have been looking for a long time to find a chair which suits my size as well as the size of my wallet. I can now spent more time at my computer without my back starting to hurt.

Fitting me was no problem. Fitting my wallet was a bit of a trick, but still easy. FITTING THE DOOR TO THE COMPUTER ROOM was a whole 'nother ball of wax. See, we live in a 1983 trailer home, and as such, the bedroom doors are only 28" wide. SO the computer chair, AND the computer desk HAD to be put together INSIDE the room , and when we buy a model raailroad space witha a house covering it, they will have to be taken apart to get them OUT of the room!
HOO Ray! HOO RAY! Tiffany! may mommy and daddy get you some and lots of and you have a fun time!
Well, going to the Dr. to Determine if I have Strep Throat. An idiot at MOH's work worked while having Strep{"I didn't know I had to be off work sick for that"} and exposed MOH {and others} to it, and while MOH didn't come down with it, could have carried it to me, infecting me.I'm succeptable {sp?} to a lot of things. If we are lucky, I am just getting a cold with a sore throat. I dread the throat swab test though!
Pain relief center gave me a script for Lidoderm, a Lidocaine patch to appy to my back to help provide relief, but doesn't seem to be working. I don't quite know how numbing my back can help, when it seems more musclulature in nature. In Jan soon I see the surgeon again about having the other tumor removed from my back, maybe that will help.
well, i'd better run, I have to shower.

Good Morning All,
25F and lots of slippery driving this am. No problem for me but may others seemed to be having issues. I'll just have a regular to go and scoot out the door to the shop. Hope the rest of you have a goodun'. CUL, J.R.
Mornin' everyone!
Zoe, I'll have French Toast (use raisin bread) and a side order of bacon to go along with my dark roast coffee this morning. I'll go sit at the Rivet counter for a while.
Ken, Happy Birthday to Tiffany! Give a nice pat on the old head for me. That is a very old dog, and she has been very blessed to have a good home!
Barry, 10lbs. eh? IIRC THAT is 10 lbs. more than what was allowed last week. Sounds like the implant is working out well for you. You are still in my prayers!
J. R. I am always amazed at how some people will drive on icy roads....... Best thing to do is stay off them! I would much rather drive in snow than try sliding around on Black Ice.... (Slip Slidin' Away....) BTW, Just bought a bumper sticker last week that says: Hang Up and Drive!
Gray morning here in the Finger Lakes. A few little white things falling every now and then, but nothing to make any problems. Currently 26°F outside with a few snow showers on schedule for today.
I will try to get a few odds and ends done and spend time in the train room.
Later!

Time for coffee & cake!
Janie, coffee in a D&RGW mug and a slice of that cherry crumble pie for me, please.
I spent the better part of the day re-writing and re-calculating the business plan for that TV thingy, but I cannot complete it today, due to lacking information. I will meet the guy on Wednesday to clarify the pending issues - should be able to put it under the tree for them. Hopefully it´ll work this time!
Ken - to Tiff, 16 is quite an age. I hope she stays with you for some more time! That track plan is a killer - go for it. It is much closer to what you were looking for than my idea, which maybe more interesting in terms of scenery. That´s one of my issues - I put looks before operation
Barry - yes, it has been some interesting year, not only at your end. I hope you will be doing much better, now that you have the IDC keeping you within rhythm & blues!
Robby - keep us posted on the development of your new layout. I know it´s going to be fun - guess why?
I am having second thought about my layout idea . I know that this is about all I can do, but still running a train back and forth is not my glass of Schnaps (sorry, Chris)- that´s the correct German spelling). I´d like to have at least a few feet more track and even maybe continuous running. These second thoughts keep me from actually starting construction - does that sound a little familiar to you, Chris?
Idle hands - create nice images (just because I love to do changes):
Well, I´ll be out for the moment - CUL, folks!
Gooooooooooooooooooooooooood Mornin', plate of cheeseburgers, and save some for Ms. TIFFANY in honor of her sweet sixteen! Put TIFF's burgers on RERUN's tab, if you would.
ULRICH: Schnaps 'eh?? I get the red, squiggly line under it when I type it like THAT...seems schnapps is what the 'pooter likes??? Either way, I'll enjoy a glass with you in the hopes the muckety-mucks like your proposal/business plan. If not...I've got some suggestions for "other things" you could put "under their tree." RERUN could help you with THAT... I'm OK with a train more or less "running back and forth," it's trying to whittle down what WILL fit vs. everything I think I want THAT has me banging my head on the drawing table. I've got most of the basic framework up. Whatever the final design, the frame most likely wouldn't be affected. IF I get some radical idea, what little is up can come back down pretty easily. I'm now adapting a layout from the Great Model Railroads 2005 to fit my space. Since the guy actually built the thing (at least two other plans I've tried to adapt were, I think, concepts only), I figure it gives me a more-or-less mostly accurate "template" for just exactly how much track will fit into a given space without having to buy templates or fight with 'pooter programs.
Glad to see I'm not the only one battling s**w on the roads and idiot drivers today. I had to take the truck to Mt. Vernon this morning for some maintenance w**k. While there, the s**w began to fall. By the time I was ready to leave, the s**w had reduced US Hwy. 30 to a real mess. But, I was able to do a safe 30-35 for the trip home. Only saw one vehicle in the ditch. Wouldn't you just know it was an all-wheel-drive SUV/station wagon-ish kinda thing. One of Cedar County's deputies was having a roadside chat with the driver. He, she, or "it" had buried the thing. Didn't look like they spun, but rather just plowed it in straight. It was even on a straight section of road too, not on the deadly "S" curve or any of the other "fun" hills and curves.
Have a good, SAFE day everybody...

Hey fellas, just been relaxing for the past few days.
DANG now that was a FOOTBALL GAME last night! I can't believe how well Matt Flynn played! He outplayed Brady for most of the game, except for right at the end. It might be a loss, but that is a statement game for the Pack. I think we're gonna make the playoffs :D
as for tonight's game I can't wait. and I actually have a reason to pull for the Vikings; if Chicago looses, We're gonna be one game back of the Bears. If we can go into the final week tied (i.e. we beat the Giants and Chicago looses) we can win our division outright with a win over the Bears at Lambeau. If we beat the Bears and tie them at the top, I dunno who owns the tie-break

Good afternoon guys,
saw the Dr. NO i don't have strep, just a sore throat. The Dr. will sign off on a Handicapped license plate for me to have on my vehicle and a hangy tag for when I am in other vehicles. He will fill out the form today, then tomorrow I take it to county clerk, then back to DMV to get teh plates etc. Between my back issues and my breathing issues, It will be thankful to have one. THough I know that just because I got one, doesn't guarantee a place up close. Lots of others have them too.
I ranted a thread about Atlas not having enough track in a package to make a full circle! I HATE when that happens. AND the package says "Full CUrve" on it I take that to mean full half circle. Its a curve alright, jsut not half a circle. EERRRGGGHHHH!

Went to the post office in Leesville this morning to mail out some boxes. Those steps in front of the building (at least a dozen of them) make getting into the building very difficult for me (me and steps don't get along well) and the place has NO HANDICAP ACCESS! Since when can a government building NOT have handicap access? What a disabled person has to go through there is a JOKE! Anyone who can't get up the steps for whatever reason must go to the back of the building (loading/unloading area), climb a steep ramp that someone in a wheelchair would not be able to get up without help and go to the back door IF the path is not blocked by mail carts. There they have to ring a bell for service. Entry through this door is forbidden so the mail/packages the person wants to send must be given to the postal clerk that comes to the door along with whatever method of payment is being used. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES IS THE PERSON GRANTED ACCESS! They must wait at the back door while the clerk weighs the mail/packages and applies the postage on them and uses the provided method of payment (cash/credit-debit card/etc) to pay for it then brings the receipt and change or card back to the person still waiting out on the loading/unloading dock. If the person has a P.O. box or drawer there they must have an able bodied person (or at least one that can climb the steps) go in and get their mail for them. From now on I'm going the extra couple of miles to New Llano to use the post office there. It has proper handicap access.
End rant.
Just a quick top before the wife gets off of work.
Ulrich.....I got to working on the layout, well laying some track. Its coming along pretty good. I need a few more pieces of track, and some turnouts. Then some more foam board, road bed......The list goes on............
Galaxy......Good to hear the doc say you don't have step. Any kind of sore throat is a pain!!! I'm with you on the track. Its like the y give you enough to get started and thats it !!!!
Sawyer...........I was hoping the Pats lost last night, but no. So far the Steelers are still a #2, and they have a pretty easy schedule left. I will say that game tonight will be fun to watch!!!!!!
Jeff............Is this post office a small post office and maybe that's why they don't have a good access? The USPS keeps saying they want to close down some offices and stop Saturday....So that means, forget about upgrading certain buildings. The post office I used has half of the lights burned out inside. It feels like your at a "romantic dinner".
Hu-rowwww! Pretty good visit with the doctor today. He was pleased. Keep your fingers crossed she makes it a month until the next follow up visit. Oh, sorry, talking about Mom.
Jeffrey- Reeediculous. But I know what you mean. Williamsville had an old Post Office until oh, 4 or 5 years ago. Maybe a bit more, maybe a bit less. Hard to remember. But it was an old storefront building and had one step up. still too much for a wheelchair and very narrow also. The folks who worked there were members of the community so they bent the rules on many things making it easier for most elderly. (as long as it wasn't lunch time) The thing leaked like a sieve and they had to be careful when storing packages so they didn't get as wet as if they were left outside. We now have a brand new shiny P.O. with all the handycap accessibleness you could need. Ground level so no steps, no ramps (except the one through the curb) Got it all including the automatic opening door. Just hope you don't have to pee. No public restroom.

Been kind of a nondescript day here. Stopped down at church to deliver a CD with all my files accumulated during the past 5 years I have been Moderator of deacons. Been trying to get the files to one of the ladies who is taking on the position as a co-moderator for a couple weeks. She finally asked me to drop it off at church and she will pick it up there. Had to take a few other things over to the Committee chair of the pack, then stand in line for a while at the post office. Actually did get to go down cellar, turn on the lights and turn up the heat in the train room a while ago, haven't been back down there since......

"But officer, I had to take that phone call from my daughter, she needed to tell me her boyfriend had called and besides this is 4 wheel drive so I should be able to drive twice as fast as anybody else and I had no idea the road was this icy and... Hold on, it's my husband calling......................."
Tonight I shall spend an hour or two hiding in the train room! may even get a few things accomplished.... One never knows!
Ray- You may not have gotten the actual conversation correct, but the perception and what really happened you were probably dead on!
4 wheel drive many times only adds $100 to the tow bill. Remember that you young whipper snappers. Been there done that, got the T-shirt. (actually no, I've never been towed out, but I wanted to say that)
Ahem, It's Hand-i-cap.

Just got of the phone with Bank Of We Don't Tell You The Same Twice Of America! Seems they will no longer take partial payments on the house? Even if two payments in a 4 week span is more than the monthly payment? Plus, I cannot get my VA loan Modified unless I am 12 months or less behind.
If that is true, then why had they made me jump through all the hoops last time and was told the only reason I could not get the loan modification was because the state of Illinois would not give me a letter stating I had 12 months of unemployment?
Just a bout ready to give up.

I hate Illinois winters. All I get is drifts. On the bright side though I get alot of fun and watch people who don't know how to drive a 4x4 get stuck.
Ray- Probably hit the nail right on the head. That's why I like my Jeep. Its a good driver and not afraid to kick your hind end straight when you get a little reckless (I actually switch to summer driving mode once in a while and the Jeep gets me back into winter)
Cuda- Gotta love Illinois right?

Good evening all, just a RBF for me. Been a long day today. Started out this morning with trying to help a friend remove a broken bolt out of the intake manifold of his Ford Taurus. After that failed and we dropped the manifold off at the local machine shop. I then proceeded to my next job, replacing a crankshaft position sensor on a Honda Civic, should have been a 2 hour job...no dice, everything is ready to come loose with the exception of the harmonic balancer bolt. Apparently 160-lbs of air and a good soaking with PB Blaster wouldn't make it let go, so I dropped back and punted on it. Resoaked the bolt and will try again in the morning....hate when jobs are supposed to be easy and turn into real pains in the rumpus.
Okay, rant over.
Sorry that I wasn't able to do this earlier but a very happy birthday to Tiffany, hope that she has many more happy, healthy doggy years.
Welp, guess I'll check out everything else, then hit some dishes and then off to bed for me, I have to be up at 5:30 tomorrow mornign to go and give that Honda another try before I have to go to my "real" job (Advance Auto Parts).

Holly Toledo Ulrich! I saw the news last night and there is more snow in England and Germany that you can shake a stick at!
Jeff, I would post your rant on the www.usps.gov site and see what happens.
We have a possibly large storm heading or way, last night it stretched from Manitoba to the southern border of Virginia/Kentucky. I plan on driving to Toledo Saturday, might be delayed until Sunday if this is all snow.
Had the oil and fuel filter changed on the truck last night for $210.00. Fuel filters are expensive but the shop gave me a free (extra fuel filter) one with the service.

Good Morning! Coffee and biscuits and gravy please. Anybody seen Bill? I…am…in…a…gooood mood today. (So far.) I don’t know why, I just am. Maybe it’s just knowing I don’t have to work every day all day or as much as I can at Mom’s house. Loading dumpsters endlessly from the same house. Constantly haulng things from what appears to be a bottomless pit. Just a few odds and ends left. Like today. I think I’ll bip out there for a few and clean a toilet and a sink and a tub. I have to go to her bank anyway (she banks in Riverton for some reason. Oh yeah. It’s closer to her) so I’ll be driving right past the house. Speaking of Mom’s house. Put the For Sale sign back up yesterday. Yup. The Realtor was pretty stoked. ( I wonder if the kids today who say that word know what it really means.) He says he and several other realtors have a listy of people waiting to see the house. I hope someone feels we are asking waaaaay too little for it and doubles the asking price. Possible, but somehow I doubt it. You know ladies, I’m really not one to get into other peoples business unless I’m standing in line at the Walmart, but really. Just because Barry has this new "put your heart back in rhythm" thing, doesn’t mean you should just chuck things and try to scare him because you think he’ll get zapped back into pace again. It’s almost like you want to see him get jolted. What, you think the thing is like a joy buzzer or something? Let's just be nice and let him get healed up and them get the thing tested and all to make sure it works. OK? Then you can scare the begeezus out of him if you want. I’ll just set over here, NOT next to Barry in case the thing goes off. Might get shocked myself. Y’all have a Great Day now ya hear?!!!

Good morning.
Just snow flurries this week, and maybe a small snow storm Friday night - Sunday.
Not to much planned for me today. Probably just take it easy and mess around on the layout later.
Have a good morning.
Good morning All,
26 but windy with no white stuff on the ground so I'm ok with it (like I could actually do anything about it?). I'll have a regular and a toasted blueberry muffin please Zoe.
Ulrich - you need a big snowplow on that locomotive ! Wow youse guys have a lotta snow
Flip - ok I'll show my ignorance and bite. What's a cookie boxcar?
Lee - If Jeff complains probably the only thing that'll happen is the post office will put him on the hazardous delivery list and force him to get a P.O. box so he has to climb the stupid steps every day.
Bama - If all else fails, we've managed to brace a breaker bar on the floor with the correct socket on it and have broken the offending bolt loose by rocking the car gently until it gave up. THAT's assuming you can gain access to do that. Some of those sidewinder cars are not easy to get at.
