Packer

Ulrich, sorry to hear your car is in disrepair. Just curious, is this a car you just got and is it a newer car? (galaxy seems to be having fits with his new KIA)

Nope, not new - nearly 10 years old, but only 70k miles on it. Should be good for some more years of service - I hope!

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have Eggs Benedict with my dark roast coffee this morning.  I'll be sitting at the Rivet Counter for a bit.

Doesn't look like I will finish the lawn anytime soon.....  Showers and gloomy all day, and for the next several days.  The Staples Courier Truck broke down yesterday so no delivery.  They say it will be rescheduled sometime...... Whistling

Well, I have one more month of being the Moderator for the Board of Deacons at Church.  I opened nominations for my position and the Vice Moderator and got  two of the ladies to agree to Co-Moderate the board and share the duties....  YES!  In December we usually put together gift boxes for those who are not able to get out to church or are in nursing homes to celebrate Christmas, then have a short business meeting, and then go to parishioners home for the annual party.  In January, I start the meeting, and hand it over to the new Moderators.  One of our Deacons who has been among the missing most of the last year showed up again last night..  Big smile on his face.  His 2 year long project has just been sent out and will be dedicated on November 11th. at Saint Leo University...  You can read about it here.  He is the sculptor.  Dex is also a wonderful gentleman, devout in his faith, and someone I am honored to call a friend.  I'm sure he and his wife will be going down for the dedication ceremony.

Ulrich, sure hope you have your wheels back by now.  You will be in my prayers for a great interview tomorrow!  Be well blessed!

Well (deep subject) I need to get some stuff done... Like the wash.  May get to play a bit with the layout today as well.  I do have a couple of errands to run and may stack a bit more of the woodpile if the rain holds off...

Later!

WEll, interesting.

I ordered a new Bachmann EZCommand DCC set with and Undec. 0-6-0 steamer that I will decal to B&O and some track from wholesaletrains.com and. It will go under the xmas tree to contorl that layout. It came without a hitch, and although I was here to take the delivery, I was not required to sign for it.

Now my other half has ordered me some train items for xmas and wholesaletrains.com sent an email confirmation that the order was sent out yesterday. THis morning at 8:09 AM I get a call from UPS stating someone must be here to sign for the package between 8 AM and 7PM or it won't be delivered and a notice will be hung on the door. Not really a problem as I am here most of the day. I left at 8:25 to do some errands and returned at 10:10 with no notice on the door. My theory is that he hasn't tried to deliver it yet. BUt what puzzles me is that one order from wholesaletrains with a  loco and DCC controller in it didn't require a signature, and yet another order with {I am sure a Loco at least in it} does require a signature! {puzzled  Confused}

Of course when the package gets here, I am to pay NO ATTENTION TO IT!

There are also 2 packages form amazon.com arriving today {posta b} and I do know what is in them, I placed the Bang Head order the other night I had such problems with, but have to wait til xmas for them to be in my possession. Not a biggie.

Went to walmart, Price Chopper and CVS to pick up a script. done and home by 10:10, hope the UPS man didn't try to deliver very early!

I will have to check the tracking on the amazon.com orders to see if they are on the truck or not.

Jeffrey- you interested in the 4-i-one printer/fax/scanner/copier? send me a conversation either way!!! sO I Know.

Well - it is quite a long list and it´ll mean that the layout will be pretty cramped with track, with only little left for a nice scenery. You know I am absolutely in favor of a less is more philosophy when it comes to track plans.

Any which way, let me have those dimensions and I see what I can do!

Flo, just a cup of orange juice and a banana...I'm headed to the gym shortly.

70K in ten years? try 145K in 7! My 2003 Honda Element has just over 145,000 miles on it. Aside from some belts, new tires and regular services, she runs great. The window motor burned out though. It's currently inoperable. The only real side affect to that is no drive through service, which isn't really a bad thing.

I painted my first stripped shell, and attempted to letter it. I had some serious trouble with the dry transfer decals. I just couldn't get them to transfer cleanly without breaking, or staying put while I attempted to rub them. Was rather frustrating, and resulted in sketchy results. I moved on to the numbers, and really didn't have much luck. I think I'm going to strip it and attempt the maneuver again. Any tips?

I also realized why I love railroading...it's the HISTORY! Even though I model modern equipment, and roads...I love watching fallen flags roll by my house (just watched a Wisconsin Central hopper roll by) and then reading about it's history, and lineage. Amazing to me.

Is Wal-Mart the downfall of western civilization?

Good afternoon everyone. I've sort of been out of it for a day or two (I think...), so I'll still be catching up. Expect a few more posts (and possibly seeing me on top of a page...Indifferent)

If you think early morning is good, Galaxy, you out to go there in the middle of the night (if your Wal-Mart is a 24Hr. store). The only people in the store are you and the workers.

It sure is easy to buy that deluxe Ber-B-Que smoker at 3 AM.

Vincent, not sure how tall you are, but try 3’ x 4’ modular’s at a rail height of 41”  This is what I built and I can reach over no problem except for the corners; I made those 4’ by 4’ to handle the 36”, 38.5”, and 41” curves.

Afternoon guys!

Kyle: I'd strongly reccomend Wet transfer decals. I;ve heard similar horror stories.

Ken & Madog: Actually, two layouts doe not have to be all that crowded. My suggestion (and I'll get a plan up later I hope) would be to set the upper plan as a picnhed loop. Stick the mine up there, and run the lower section through it. Use the railyard on one wall as a junction yard bewtween two railroads (really the upper and lower tracks) and launch maybe a third shortline off to go serve the Grain Mill. As for stations, you can easily fit three stations on methinks.

Been making progress on a layout website, will be getting that up sometime this weekend I hope!

Afternoon guys

WEll the wholesaletrains.com  package arrived and I dutifully signed my life away that I did indeed receive it! Oh, but I can't touch it til xmas day...I wonder what my other half got me? I gave lots of ideas, and one I think I'm gonna order anyway as I know didn't order...different company and no order was place with my CC there. I'm ususally nto a peeker...but .....of course all I have to do is looka t teh order confirmation form wholesaletrains.com sent to my email addy cuse we used my account-all info already there-But I promised I wouldn;t peek. Oh, but, MY!

I ordered what I think will fit the concor passenger cars and others I got in the PRR scheme for my other half to run behind the GG1. oH...trucks with couplers that is. I ordered from Con COr...we will see. HAd to call in my order as they DO NOT HAVE A SECURED PAGE FOR CREDIT CARDS when ordering! Be forwarned! PAy attention to SECURE pages for CC info as christmas draws near!!! I needed new knuckle couplers at least some to make double ended cars for the rapido couplers on one end and the knuckle to connect to the knuckle on the GG1. COuld take up to 3 weeks for it to happen. I also ordered a freebie pair of N scale lock Jaw coupler trucks without the wheel sets...I have those already. anybody interested here is a link:

http://www.con-cor.com/CouplerConversions.html

It is for one free pair about a thord way down you will see the flashing "Free" on the left side and a whole section about the free truck/coupler Rigid  Jaw FOR N SCALE ONLY! {I will have to see if they have one freeoffer for HO or not}

More packages {three I think whoo hoo!} arrive tomorrow!   Music"It's beginning to look a lot  like Christmas" with every package I get Music Whistling

 Afternoon AZ

Flo, just a Diet Dew to go, cleaning up the garage.

Morgan Looking forward to seeing your ideas as well.

Cleaning out under the 9.5 X 5 K-10 Mining bench. Boy it is a mess! Starting to find some train stuff I will be offering up later as well. Finally my Kadee uncoupling magnets I missed placed 4 years ago! Does not say much for my organizational skills does it.

Far as the Garage Sizes Nothing is built, bought or really planed yet so not a big deal.

Vincent, Found a shipping box for your Auto Rack. I have yet to look up the Ham's car yet. I will let you know.

  Back to the cleaning.

Jerry, AWESOME BL2 man! Well yesterday was an on-the-move day. But the important thing about it is I GOT MY RESTRICTED LICENSE! I actually drove up to my bank by myself today and deposited a check in my savings account etc, and also went by Food Lion to get a snack, and later I'm driving my sis to the volleyball game. It feels so weird to be driving by myself though.

 Sawyer, congrats on passing!

Morgan All I can say is HOW DID YOU GET THAT DONE SO FAST! Man that is a yard and a half there. Lot of the track looks like it will require either a duck under or a lift out bridge, am I correct?

I really need to finishes and post my garage plan. There are some spots I am going to need walking room. But dang you made the layout look huge!

You will have to wait on pins and needles to get your regular license! It, too, will pass well before you know it know it!

We like Stunned and amazed.

Well, there's a lot of copy/pasting pieces, like the crossovers, and long stretches of straight tracks. Par that, and I've done quite a bit in RTS. There are a number of spots where it crosses over a potential pathway. I put 30" between the yard and the upper line, I can move that over a bit I think and get you 36, it m encroach on the grain mill. (Which can be moved, it doesn't HAVE to have the return loop I put on it) Hmm, actually, if I straighten it out, I should be able to give you 30" on either side.

QAuestion I should've asked earlier: Where's door? (Whixh will likely be on the floorplan you post)

By the way Ken, you said you like bridges right, here's a liftout for ya: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.liftbridges.com/DCP_2868.JPG&imgrefurl=http://www.liftbridges.com/prod01.htm&usg=__xh1mW36YjNkRh5tFd7g16h4dXvw=&h=1800&w=1200&sz=365&hl=en&start=2&zoom=1&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=J6T4rIdOWvQDsM:&tbnh=150&tbnw=100&prev=/images%3Fq%3DHO%2Bpneumatic%2Blift%2Bbridge%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26rls%3Dcom.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox%26biw%3D1579%26bih%3D691%26tbs%3Disch:1

Evenin' folks!

Flo I'll have a big bowl of the Beef Stew with a couple dinner rolls, and a cup of decaf.  I'll go sit in the back with the rest of the guys.

Hey Sawyer!  Good on ya!  Knew you could do it all along.  Now just take care and drive safe and stay away from the gum ball machines....  And you will be getting the permanent license sooner than you think.

I started on a rock crusher building for the Quarry scene.  This is based on pure conjecture and one online photo I have seen.  Been looking for the last 3 months!  Guess Buildings containing rock crushers just aren't THAT photogenic.......  I scribbled down a rough drawing of it and been collecting all the scale lumber I have in stock to see if this is doable without my haveing to spend any more money.  I think it is.  Wonder what it will end up looking like? Whistling

Ken, good luck cleaning out the stuff.  Looks like you already have some good suggestions for the new pike!

Well, (deep subject), I guess I'll just sit and relax a while longer and ponder Stone Crusher Buildings......

Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooood Evening, bucket of coffee please, with a Barry-sized cheeseburger. Thank you.

Hey, who's the kid out doing a burn-out in the parking lot? Oh! It's Young Mr. SAWYER! Congrats there Pal...knew you'd pass just fine. As for the "gumball machines," probably won't see many of them anymore, but the same admonition applies to the "disco lights" on the Po Po cars...

CUDA KEN: Man, I wish I had your kind of space...would make my RR life a lot easier. Even then, I'd STILL have to re-arrange the known universe to get in all THAT I wish I could get in.

Somebody tell me again WHY we do this??? "Relaxation?" Oh yeah... I keep forgetting.

Welp (NOT a deep subject), I still have to crank-out some content for THAT Editor yet tonight. I've got an ugly football game from Monday night to write about, a volleyball slaughter, and a nice couple who turned their schnauzer into a service/therapy dog. THAT told me they were training dogs to be companions for returning vets...they are not. They HAVE taken "Tobey" to VISIT vets in the Iowa City VA... I'll have to find out tomorrow during "facetime" how she got so far off the track on this one. Essentially, they are "trying to build awareness of service dogs," since their little schnauzer doesn't "fit the profile." I'm not sure what I'm going to make out of this one. The nice people kinda irritated me a bit. They live a philosophy taught by some "dog whisperer." They say I need to read his (expensive) magazine...presumably so I can find out all the things I've done wrong in raising Rerun lo these past 7-1/2 years...Bang Head

He's a happy, healthy dog. I'm a happy, probably healthy doggy daddy. Screw the dog-whisperer.

'Nuff said?

Ken, Jeff, Galaxy, Ray, Chris, and Jerry, THANKS!

I actually think i got the hard examiner, but I only made two wide turns and so passed. Had the Honda Civic; boy I love that little thing haha. I'm not afraid of driving a tank, but I prefer the cars; agilier, funner, and better gas mileage. As for the year of restrictions, well, YES! I only have two more days that I can drive until 8 by myself; then it's back to 6 b/c daylight savings time ends. Chris, that is a great pic of the CNW Geep and IC hopper man!

You can stick with the small cars if you want to. As for me, I like having some armor around me. I'll stick with my 'tank'. Love being able to see over most of the traffic. And in the summer the women in those little open top sports cars got the skimpy tops and shorts on.Devil Well, I'll leave the rest to your imagination.Laugh

Good Morning!

Bill - you are up VERY early today!

Well, today´s the day. Shortly before noon, I will saddle my horses to go to the interview. Oh, well Sigh, but a big one!

CUL folks!
