 Evening Flo and Folks.

I take a I will take a Grill Cheese, with Ham, Onions, Pickles and Mustard and Beer please.

Ulrich If you have the funds I have the credit card. Send me a PM or what ever it is called now and we can work out the details.

Vincent Pack up the Pearl Car and get me a cost of USP to 62062 and it is a done deal. I have not had time to take the Auto Rack back to K-10 trains. If you want it, I will take $21.38 plus shipping minus what the Pearl will cost me. Even with the new layout in the planning with nothing under 26 inch turns (main line will be 36 to 30 inch) I will never use the rack. My 71 Chargers are just to big to look right.

Printer Picked up a Cannon PIXMA MP 250 from Wal Mart for $32.00 with USB cable. One of the things I like be sides being a printer it is all so a scanner to boot! I have two scanner, but do not have the room for them on the desk. Not that I will scan a lot of stuff, but will be handy with what I found at the  Maryville Library! They have a lot of Model Railroad books and some from are beloved Kalmbach Publishing! Big Smile Now if I find something I want, I can save it.

That all so bring to mind Free Scanners! 1 is a parallel port and one is a USB. Remember it is either your house or the dumpster! Big Smile

Jeffery, would you like the old computer be for I dump it?

Wall mounted gas heater Is working fine now, in fact I am going to have to turn it down.

 See you all Wednesday!

                  Ken

PS, see no one gave a cat but about me breaking the 4000 post mark.Whistling

Just took some time to put the front of my van back together. I had to leave the cowl grille (piece between the windshield and hood) off earlier due to the weather. Took over 20 minutes to get the darn thing off in the rain yet it went back on in just a few minutes in better weather, though it was still a very slow rain. Also someone had put super glue on the passenger side wiper arm. Took the use of 2 large wrenches and a screwdriver to pry it off. Upon examination I could see why they used it. The lock tab on the wiper arm was bent. Guess it didn't occur to whoever to simply bend it straight again, or maybe they didn't know how. Who wouldn't know how to fix something that's so simple or just replace the arm completely. The wiper arm holds on securely now without the aid of any glue.

Jeffery Look back at my post.

If you're talking about the Pentium 400, no thanks. I have all the paper weights I need. What's that USB scanner like?

Evening folks, I'll have the Swedish meatballs.

Not much from me. Jeep's running good, do like the wide open area here though.

Of all the times something on my quad needs replacing. This time it's the battery. Just won't crank over the engine. There is a recoil back up, but it's a pain to get too. Hidden under the plastics and all. So hopefully over the weekend I'm gonna take a ride to the Interstate battery store and exchange it.

Good Evening All,

Long day again but it's just about time to finish up paperw..k and head off to the museum. Good job they had those plastic widgets you needed Jeff (or at least the one you needed and the dozen other novelties - hmm for a gondola they might make nice cargo covered in thin cloth and put on some wood pallets).

Garry - I'm jealous you got to go on the Sadona rail line. We did the Grand Canyon trip in the dome car a couple of years ago and just missed the last train of the day a couple of days later at Sadona when we were flying out the next day. Happened on it by accident we did. The Phoenix rail museum was ok too though they were in the throes of moving and setting up in a new location. Very nice people there.

Well, here's my coffee to go and I must.   CUL, J.R.

Evenin' folks!

Flo, I'll have a big bowl of the beef stew and dumplings and a cup of decaf to wash it down with...

Took the load of wood over to my son...  He is now happy.  The 3 year old Granddaughter started pre-school today.  Art says she went right with the teacher and sat down with the other kids with a big grin on her face.  She has been wanting to go to pre-school but has been a bit scared of it as well.  I bet she will have lots to tell Grandpa this Sunday when I see her.Wink  The little one was all exited to see me today, and got upset when I left.....  (As were the dogs, so no big thing.....Whistling)

Came home, threw on a better jacket, and went over to stand in line to vote...  The new type machine accepted my vote or so it said.

Thats what the machine told me AFTER it finally took my paper ballot from out of the folder they gave me to "hide my ballot".

We're not happy with the new system. Bang Head

My vote isn't secret anyway....they wrote down the number on the paper ballot they gave me right next to where I signed my name to sign in to vote!!!! The machine, {unless i missed it and it shreds them}, still has my ballot with my number on it inside it. SO anybody who has access can look up my ballot number and see how I voted, or how anybody voted anyway. The paper ballots shouldn't be shredded anyway, as they are supposed to be "backup" to the numbers tallied.

No, we're nto happy with the new system. the old lever system behind the privacy curtain worked well for NY for what was it...120 years?

Hey guys

Polished the car today. Still not quite done, but it makes a whole lot of difference. I managed to pick up a set of ford motorsport underdrive pulleys for $50. Not to bad IMO.

Ken, Was that UPS or USPS? I'll take the rack too. Although I probably won't be able to get it out till next week since there is a trainshow this weekend.

Jeff, didn't you say that was you're cousins van?

Galaxy, why would kids work if their parents give them everything?

Sawyer, Nice pictures. Wondered why it looks a bit different than most gp38-2s. Looks like it's a rebuilt GP38AC

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Flo....I'll have a burger....with free range, and grass fed beef. If you could top it with organic veggies, and hand pounded mustard I'd appreciate it! Oh, and a tall glass of ice water!

The sun was actually out today here in Western Washington, which is a tad bit rare this time of year. Mt. Rainier was out in all her glory. I spent the day in the impact area of Ft. Lewis doing a range clearance. Walking around in the tall, wet grass marking rounds that failed to function as designed. It's fun, relaxing, and the guys all get to joke around out of the spot light (we're the only soldiers allowed out there).

Got burned on eBay. Took the fellow over a month to mail my package, and the locomotive came in pieces. That's the risk you take though right? I've had plenty of good transactions though, so I won't be steered away.

Vacation with my parents next week. Excited about that. Get to show my dad the club layout....and the rest of Seattle's attributes. Happy Tuesday everyone!

I bought it from my nephew. He had it for about a year and did some engine and transmission work on it but hardly ever drove it. The guy he got it from had apparently found it abandoned and filed for a title on it. He drove it for nearly 6 months.

Vincent, says it was rebuilt from NW 4141 here

NW 4141 was, as you guessed correctly, a GP38AC. Believe it or not, she used to have a high hood

Both were very enjoyable when we road on them.

JR ... Sorry to hear you missed the Verde Canyon. Their FP7's have the sharpest paint scheme on any loc anywhere!

Howdy. Kinda sore right now. Black Eye

I’ve been pouting all day. Why? Well, as you all know yesterday was NOT my best day. First the (ahem) incident that occurred here, then, The Rangers got cheated out of the World Series. Cheated I say. Then, Houston didn’t win either. Or so I think. The Colts were ahead and I turned it off at halftime. Put the hurts on their Super Bowl run. Couldn’t take a third defeat. And now, and NOW, I’m almost out of Rollo’s.Sigh

Robby- Don’t sweat the test. As you know you do NOT want to get into the wrong college classes. I stumbled into an English class, (Yes Ray, I took a semester of college English as hard as it may seem to believe.) You can guess how I fared. I was on academic probation because of that little class.

Voted today. I was feeling pretty sure my choices were right and they should win so I went back later to vote again. They refused. Well I felt I needed to support them the best I could and do what I can to get them elected, so I came back later yet..., in disguise. I guess they recognized my voice. That’s the problem with living in a small town where you’re known, as opposed to say Chicago.

Ken- Nope. But thanks. I'm probably in the same boat as you. I have a storage shed full of stuff from my gearhead days.

That reminds me. I need to get over there and clean that out. THAT would free up 40 bucks a month.

Hey! Jerry stopped in. Glad he made no mention of problems for him or Sally.

Kyle- Yep, always gotta be a bad apple. Sorry about the purchase, but you’re right the good ones outweigh the bad.

Jeff- Check the tire cover for tracking devices. I’ve heard the government is resorting to tracking movements of independent minded people. This sounds like something they would do. (looks over both shoulders) I think they’re watching me now. I best take the backroads home.

Time to hit the hay and dream of next years world series when the TEXAS RANGERS will be the WORLD CHAMPS!!! Watch and see. Yes

Good Morning,

we are early today, as Petra has started an (unpaid) teaching job. It will be 4 weeks, twice a week, so that´s not bad. Helped her in the preparation of the lectures she will be giving. Petra and computers - two different worlds!

Flo, just coffee for me this morning, please and thanks!

A friend of mine in Cologne has found some HOn3 track in his basement, a few lengths of flex track and a couple of turnouts. Now we have to figure out a way to get it here, as shipping costs for such "bulky" items are forbidding. I just invited him to come over for a weekend, so he can bring it along Whistling

I am very much tempted to buy that lovely D&RGW C-16 from Caboose Hobbies. Although I have Petra´s approval, I will stay away from it until my job situation is settled - oh dear!

Glad to see that Jerry´s back!

Good Morning,

Ulrich
that is some good news about Petra teaching, it might not pay but she is building references towards a paying job in the future.  What grade level is she working with?

Jeff, a new tire cover; very nice of someone!

Walther’s has Noch corn and wheat field kits on sale so I ordered one of each.  The north wall of the layout has corn and wheat field backdrops so I plan on “extending the view” with 3-d corn and wheat.  I also ordered the Noch static grass sampler kit; I plan on practicing on some scrap plywood before I make a mess of the layout.

I have Veteran’s day off next week so I took that Friday off as well and plan on building the “Time Saver” in the SE corner of the basement as a transition area  tying in the main layout with the port and coal mine sections of the layout.  http://s145079212.onlinehome.us/rr/timesaver/index.html

Lee - she is teaching housekeeping to a class of adult immigrants from Russia, Poland, Iraq and Turkey - certainly an interesting mix. Language is a big issue, but she has the patience to deal with that.

She´s just back from her today´s class and all exhausted. She has been  out of teaching for more than 25 years ...

Need to take care of lunch - it´ll be spaghetti a la Ulrich today!

Maybe work on the boxcar today, and  try get some shots up later.  Other than that, not much planned.

Flo, English Muffin and a Coffee please.

Jeffery Not a lot I can tell about the scanner, I am guessing it is around 7 to 9 years old. I think it is a HP, bur right now it is buried under train junk. I don't know if I have the software for it or not. If you are running something new than widows 98 your computer should have drivers for it.

Vincent United States Postal Services and slow is fine. On the Auto Rack, just a reminder that it is a Open Auto Rack used in the 70's. Road name is Rio Grand, K -10 did have another one, but it was $21.99 where this one was $19.99. Ken the owner does that kind of stuff, he does not change the prices on the older stock.

Charter is coming out again. They cannot get my modem up to the proper speed from there in.

Guess the big thing today is getting the new printer up and running then figure out how to work it.

That's what I was thinking. Windows XP should have software that will control it through the 'Scanners and Cameras' feature. How quickly could I get my hands of that?

Good morning. It's 56 and cloudy. The high will be 67 and there's a 50% chance of rain.

We have gotten quite a bit of rain here (nearly an inch the last time I checked) and it's about time too. I was starting to think the area was going to dry up and blow away, leaving behind a bunch of people wondering what the heck happened. Yesterday I had made plans for what I was going to do today. Well, you know what they say about the best laid plans of mice and men. Late yesterday I got a phone call reminding me of an appointment that was made a year ago. That appointment is today at 1:30 in a city south of here in the next parish (county to those in other states). Well, heck, there goes the entire afternoon. Take away the prep time and the time to get there, that just about wipes the entire day. Why do I get this feeling that Murphy has nothing better to do than pick on me? Oh well, such is life. In other news, I still have no idea who put the new tire cover on my spare tire, though I see that my father has just received an issue of JC Whitney. They don't hand those out like candy but usually only to those who have ordered from them. I wonder. I vacuumed out the heater yesterday and fired it up for a test run. Looks like it will be working perfectly for the winter. If not I can always go to Lowe's and snag a new one. It seems so many things today are pre-designed to be landfill fodder. I have a HP all-in-one scanner/copier/printer that didn't even last a year before packing it in. I've been using it as a base on which to set my keyboard and external hard drive for the last year.

Not awake yet. got up at 3:30 with other half, who had to be at work at 6 am today, and spent some time together before going off. Then I went back to bed so now I am groggy. A few cups of coffee wil take care of that, I hope. Doffee heating up now as we speak. gee see what i mean? Coffee.

I have to go to CVS to get 2 scripts.{When I wake up that is}. some 12hour sudafed-the real stuff, some cheapy sudapfed pretender OTC that doesn't work well for when we run out of the good stuff. Then go next door and check the lottery tickets. we play one each Megamillions and Powerball each week. My other half has high hopes of winning big and biggest we ever won was $150 which paid back teh tickets bought for one year and paid ahead for 1/2 year. I indulge the fantasy its only $102 a year...could go to retirement but you can't win it if you aren't in it. and the Other half does work hard when tehy give the hours at work.

well, I had better get moving and seeee what else is on the forum before i go as other half will be home at 2:45 wondering whether I have been to CVS yet!

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.

 Almost lunch, and I'm hungry!!

Here's a few shots of the boxcar I've been working on.  This is one of the few that will make it to the show.   Its a Ex. St. Lawrence boxcar, patched to Norfolk Southern.
